Räsänen ‘pleased’ with electoral success
Image

ULF, Agatha – Centrist Party Leader Baltasar Räsänen has said that his party are ‘extremely pleased’ with their electoral success in this years elections. His party is one of the two forming the new’Red-Blue’ Coalition that is establishing the next Kazulian Government. Five members of the party shall be sitting in newly-elected Statssjef Kjersti Åsheim’s cabinet. The Sosialistisk Venstreparti shall also be appointing a minister to the office of the Statsminister, who chairs the cabinet itself.

There are questions being raised over how long the coalition will be able to survive, as a single disagreement in policy may make the Government venerable to public criticism. However the Centrist Chair, Thorbjørn Johansen has said that the party remains ‘quietly confident’ of a successful administration.

Critics have said that an alliance with the SV puts doubts over the Centrists true nature as a leftist party however members have been quick to deny that they favour either the left or the right and official sources have told us that the coalition is for ‘a Government of Pramatists, not dreamers’.

Håkon Vidar Støre, who is to be appointed Foreign Secretary has been quick to confirm that he shall indeed be accepting the offer. He has a staunch background in International Relations, having spent 5 years as an Ambassador to Solentia, the isolationist nation from the Southlands.

The party is said to be disappointed that Mr. Räsänen isn’t to make an appearance in the Government however has accepted that tradition is taking precedence. ‘We realise the importance of keeping tradition’ he said. ‘But hopefully over the next few years of performance and quiet reform, we can prepare the nation for a shift in political policy, and can see a more diverse executive.’.

Kazulian News Service

Postby Dregs » Wed Feb 23, 2011 12:45 am

KNS re-established following first contested elections in a Decade
The end of Single-Party Rule?

The Kazulian News Service issued it's first broadcast in over twenty years today, following the rise of the first party to contest elections in 10 years. The Service ended over 20 years ago when the Time for a Nice Cup of Tea Party rose and dominated politics, abolishing the service and tearing apart the government system. When the Party dissipated following public outcry it was supplanted by the Communist Vänsterpartiet Kommunisterna, which has ruled alone in the once democratic state ever since.

But broadcasting has resumed with the one year anniversary of the founding of the Rettslig Fascistisk Front, formed of dissatisfied elitist elements of Kazulia, together with exiled aristocratic Kazulians and the military arms company Defcon Militarised Forces, who had last been seen in Kazulia during the two century long domination by the National Unification Committee and founded the Black Legion, a force famed for it's involvement in the Luthori Civil War, Kafuristan, Al-badara and Hulstria during the 2700s.

The return of fascism to Kazulia has historical precedent. The last communist government, in power during the early 2600s, was toppled by the National Unification Committee, a far-right dominated multi-party coalition. Only time will tell whether this is repeated in the near future.

Other news agencies have reported on statements by the two opposing parties over the past year:

Arbetarbladet (VPK newspaper):

VPK leader Maria Svensson has issued a strongly worded attack on the newly founded RFF party. The party was set up by a small group of extreme right-wing terrorists and has as its ultimate aim the overthrow of Kazulia's democracy. In her speech on national TV she warned:

“The forces of reaction and tyranny yet again loom their ugly head in our great nation. They talk about returning to a so-called golden age where the powerful rule over the weak, stealing from the workers the fruits of their labour and ruling over the population with an iron fist. Let it be clear that these terrorists will not succeed, not now, not ever. The Kazulian working class can say to the rest of the world with confidence that we shall never waver in our determination to carry forward the socialist revolution and to eradicate all forms of inequality and oppression. For the first time ever in our nation's history true communism is within reach and a tiny bunch of reactionaries cannot and will not be allowed to get in its way...”

Independent Times (Pro-democracy newspaper):

With only a month until the first elections in a decade where one-party rule in Kazulia has been challenged, RFF leaders have urged people to the polls in an attempt to shake the seemingly invincible position of the communist regime. With confirmations of cross-party talks with militarist factions in Aldegar, the RFF has firmly slammed its booted heel into the closing door of Kazulian politics. James Forsyth, standing as the only opposition to the Statssjef Maria Svensson in the coming elections, spoke before party leaders in the RFF's base in Skalm:

"The Front cannot and will not be stopped. We are here to free Kazulia from the yoke of Communist oppression and the slavery of the few to the many. We will free the markets, we will free the military, we will free the people and they will see the end of this long demise of our great nation. No longer will Kazulia be the embarrassing northern neighbour of our colonialist foes, we will be a force to be feared across Dovani, for our strength, our innovation and our vision. We have a vision of a Kazulia which will dominate Dovani. The Communists will fall, and with it will come the revival of the true strength in our hearts!"

The first elections showed no shift in the one-party system, with the RFF gathering less than 1% of the vote. VPK corruption and paramilitary presence at the polls was blamed for a low turnout and few opposition voters, claims the communist party have denied. Increasingly heated rhetoric has worried many democratic observers in neighbouring countries, who worry a clash between liberal communism and authoritarian fascism could spill over into other Dovani states. RFF ties to the Froezen family, founders of the long defunct United Foderale League, and their military links has left international spectators worried of a rise of a new militant and rogue Kazulian state. Communist rule, although undemocratic and absolute, has had very little effect on Kazulian neighbours, but Forezen domination of politics in the late 2600s included racist riots and anti-Hulstrian and Dranish violence in the south of the nation.

National Police Force Reinstated by Communists
A surge in Fascist activity prompts action by the usually immovable regime

"Although the VPK recently abolished the national police force we have decided to bring it back in case one of the regions or local councils falls to the fascists at the next election and the national government is required to act in the interests of working people." Was the statement released by the single-party Parlamentet in response to a wave of propositions by the new opposition fascist RFF. This is the first official recognition of the RFF as an opposition party rather than a terrorist body as they were first described by the ruling party.

In recent elections the fascists gained only 1% of the electorate's vote and proved unable to secure a seat in the Parlamentet. However, the support gathered by the fascist front from the judiciary, militaristic elements and capitalist forces both domestically and internationally has worried not only the VPK but also international figures, concerned at a possibly resurgent militaristic Kazulia. The last fascist regime in the national resulted in Dovani-wide sectarian violence between the ruling National Unification Committee and it's break-off faction of the TSS.

The confidence of the RFF has proved key to its success. Popular propositions, amongst warnings that they hide a much more extremist ideology, have gathered common support in the ethnically Kazulian north of the nation, even as ethnic Dranish and Hulstrians have been further hardened as communist supporters in the south. RFF speakers spoke at the swearing in of Prein Forge as HoG candidate and Kaen Froezen in internal affairs. Forge, representative of the powerful Forge foundation, known for their interventions in Luthori, Hulstria, Kafuristan and Al-Badara has further worried pacifist elements with his military background. Froezen, namesake of the powerful fascist figure of the 2600s, with similar military credentials, produced the following statement in response to the bill:

"The RFF sees this proposal as the acceptance by the oppressive communist regime of their impending losses in future elections. We see this proposal as a desperate attempt to hold on to power, and oppose it on the principle of self-rule for those who vote against the regime."

The Bill could swing one of two ways. Either it could be seen as an attempt by a pacifist government to contain militaristic elements, or of a socialist government turning to totalitarian communism to maintain its seat in power. Only time will tell.

Fascist landslide puts old Communist order onto it's knees
The RFF promises sweeping reforms to militarise, capitalise and contain the nation

Over two-thirds of the electorate turned against their communist rulers today to vote out the dormant communist regime. Fascist ministers poured into the electoral chamber promising a wave of reforms to end the years under the one-party system even as the VPK tries desperately to consider it's next move. International spectators are torn between optimism on democratic reform and pessimism in the face of a new militarised authoritarian Kazulia.

James Forsyth, now head of state for Kazulia, seems to have no intention of leaving office. His first bill, named the Forsyth containment, was built to solidify his control over the nation, giving himself additional powers and extending his remit, forcing a 2/3rds majority vote to remove him from his position and extending the time necessary to do so.

Forsyth, renowned for his links with international military bodies, has named the containment as the greatest victory over communism in Kazulia's history.

Communists threaten War
The Forsyth Containment fuels the flames of anger from the old rulers of Kazulia

"These illegal terrorist proposals will never be accepted by the Kazulian working class. Should this be passed we will consider it a declaration of war." Was the declaration by the VPK, the national communist party recently outed from power by the fascist RFF in hotly contested elections.

Faced with the Forsyth Containment, a bill designed to hold the old rulers from power for as long as possible using legal and constitutional changes, including making James Forsyth the constitutionally permanent ruler of Kazulia, the communists have turned to violent rhetoric, supporters flooding the streets of the south in protest of the authoritarian changes.

Another action, the beginning of widespread legal and constitutional changes led by James Forsyth, has been the mass withdrawal from international agreements. The VPK had placed an extra barrier from change by locking down the laws of the nation with further international agreements. However, in their sweeping 70% electoral victory, the RFF was granted the power to sweep these agreements away en masse.

In response to the VPK's declaration and increased activity of its followers the RFF produced another bill, the Forsyth Declaration. This bill immensely increased the powers of the military and reduced the civil liberties of citizens. The aim was stated to create a state of law, where the judiciary holds the power between law and chaos, and life and death. International bodies have watched in shock as a democratic revolution in the one-party communist state has turned to dictatorship and inter-party violence in just one election

Arbetarbladet (VPK newspaper)
Election stolen amid massive fraud

VPK leader Maria Svensson in her first statement since the election has denounced the RFF’s supposed victory as a result of fraud perpetrated by the remnants of the former ruling elites:

“This so-called victory for the RFF terrorist scum is nothing other than an illegal seizure of power, it is theft. VPK polling before the election found that less than 30% of people would vote for the RFF yet now they tell us that it’s the other way round and that it was the VPK which only won 30% of the vote. Our activists all over the country are reporting fraud on a massive scale. The polling stations have been infiltrated by fascists who have rigged the vote. These people all belong to the former ruling class and they have abused their positions to hand power to the forces of reaction and tyranny”.

In light of these illegal terrorist actions Ms. Svensson has urged that the working class move swiftly to take back power before it is consolidated into the hands of the RFF:

“The treacherous cowards of the RFF cannot be allowed to keep their filthy hands on our country’s government a minute longer. These terrorists will use every opportunity at their disposal to crush our democracy and make sure that the ordinary woman and man never again have a say over how their country is run. To wait until the next election, should there ever even be one, would amount to political suicide for all progressive forces in Kazulia. What we need is militant action to crush this new government, we need a sustained campaign of defiance by every worker in this country and we need the backing of as many soldiers and police officers as possible. To the latter group I say stand down from your positions immediately and refuse to serve under the RFF regime - but don’t forget to take your weapons with you. We need you in the revolution. And to the workers I urge you to join with the VPK and the LO (Kazulia’s largest trade union federation) and observe the general strike which begins at midnight. Together you can bring the RFF regime to its knees”.

Ms. Svensson revealed finally that the VPK has a secret stock of weapons and intends to form its own armed militia:

“Since it became clear what the fascist terrorist scum intended to do to our democracy the VPK began to build up stockpiles of weapons. We have enough now to arm several million of our supporters and allies and have decided to set up a new revolutionary army for Kazulia: ‘Folkets armé för frihet’ (FAF) –‘ The People’s Army for Freedom’. I urge as many of you as possible to join the FAF and put a stop to RFF tyranny as soon as possible. Together with our supporters in the national army and police force we will prevail, I have not the slightest doubt about that. We have justice and freedom on our side and are the only force that can get rid of the dark cloud which has hung over Kazulia from the very second this fraudulent election result was declared”.

Kazulian Crisis Declared, Opposition parties declare measures against one another
Statssjef James Forsyth in direct opposition to VPK cabinet

Today measures passed placing James Forsyth, leader of the RFF, in complete control of the nation of Kazulia. Gaining control of the cabinet and over the nation for the next five years, he has solidified his control, only to be faced with an uprising of the previous leaders of the nation, the VPK. Unwilling to relinquish control in the face of oppression and what is seen as a dictatorship by many international bodies, the VPK cabinet has refused to resign, keeping control of the government in Thorgerd.

Faced with vast opposition rallies in the capital, Forsyth has officially moved the head of government to Skalm, in the neighbouring province of Dreton, more firmly under RFF control. So far no action has been taken up by the government apparently elected in the latest elections other than those laws and constitutional changes forced through the Stortinget, new Parliment of the nation.

Arbetarbladet
Outgoing government attempts to scupper RFF

Before the RFF has had a chance to form a new government VPK ministers have sent out a number a decrees aimed at restoring true democracy to Kazulia and holding the fascist terrorists and fraudsters responsible for their crimes against working people.

Internal Affairs Minister Eva Nordén has declared the RFF illegal and has ordered the arrest of 'President' James Forsyth who she described as a “terrorist usurper” and a “traitor to the state”. The Internal Affairs Minister made clear that her government considers Maria Svensson to be the country's only legitimate president and has urged all Kazulians to put their trust in her and in the VPK. Also to be arrested are all RFF members of the national parliament who have gained their positions illegally as a result of fraud. In addition Ms. Nordén has suspended the electoral commission and ordered an immediate investigation into how the fraud was able to take place on such a mass scale.

Defence Minister Peter Liljeberg meanwhile has declared a state of emergency and decreed that the army must work with the police to bring the RFF terrorists to justice and restore order as soon as possible. The army should, Mr Liljeberg declared, “take every step necessary to cleanse Kazulia of the fascist poison that has engulfed our nation and threatens to destroy every single piece of progress which working people have achieved over the last thousand years or more”. As a first step the army has been ordered to seal off parliament and prevent any laws being passed by the RFF regime.

Infrastructure Minister Håkan Kvarnström and Trade and Industry Minister Monica Larsson have both added to calls for a general strike until “every last leading member of the RFF has been arrested and the party deprived of all positions of power once and for all”. This strike applies to every worker in the entire country and is already brining about mass economic chaos in towns and cities across Kazulia. According to the two ministers only working people can “restore justice and dignity to their country and prevent any and every attempt to diminish the rights and benefits gained by the ordinary woman and man after hundreds of years of struggle”.

The army, torn by demands placed upon it by both the old communist regime and the new militaristic president has completely withdrawn from public control in the wake of an internal power struggle between communist and fascist elements. Ignoring demands to lay down their weapons from democratic elements, to blockade parliament from communist elements and to close down VPK headquarters from fascist elements, gunshots have been heard from the army headquarters, with no news as to who may be leading the drive to unite them under one banner.

Low-level violence has been heard to have occurred in the Herramark of Hent, where Hulstrian and Dranish ethnic minorities, fiercely supportive of the old communist regime, have seized control of the major cities and pathways between them. Police have declared their support for the old regime and army forces have withdrawn. The VPK cabinet, independent from demands to disband by the new Statssjef, have declared Hent the centre of the legitimate authority of the nation, saying the last election was fraudulent, and have fortified Kazulia's capital of Thorgerd. Calls for the arrest of RFF leaders has lead to the seizure of Peder Jaeg, the candidate for the ministry of foreign affairs, who was carried blindfolded through the streets of Lamond, Hent, a major VPK centre of power. Without overall control of the legal system of Kazulia the RFF has been unable to call for his release, and has remained closed away from the rest of Kazulia as reforms take place.

The nation remains divided, unable to form a strong face one way or the other. On the one hand the VPK, their fierce rhetoric demanding legal action against their opponents, on the other hand the RFF, strangely silent outside their new dominated Stortinget, leaving a muted response in the Herramarks outside of Hent. A new flag flies over Kazulia, but for how long remains to be seen.

Kazulia Divided
RFF and VPK government divide Kazulia in the midst of crisis

The Kazulian crisis has reached further steps towards civil war as the nation is officially divided between the one-party government of 3079 and the new RFF-dominated state of 3082. The nation is now divided on multiple political levels. Hent, southern Flindar and Kelvon lies in the hands of the VPK and their recently independent paramilitary, the FAF. The FAF has now grown to such power and numbers that it has become an alternate military for the nation and holds secure the large southern cities, ports and the borders with the RFF-dominated north of Agatha, Dreton and northern Flindar. VPK dominance in the capital of Thorgerd has forced the RFF to relocate to the old Kazulian capital of Skalm in Dreton, where the new Stortinget has assembled. Unlike the 3079 government, seats have been left empty where VPK members who had retained their seats in the last elections could be sat, sticking to RFF sentiment that the election was fairly and democratically one.

The VPK and RFF disagree on more than just the last election. The VPK is liberal, communist, parliamentary, pacifist and internationalist (even if the FAF is far more militant). The RFF is authoritarian, fascist, presidential, militant and isolationist. These clashes in ideology have only worsened the situation in Kazulia, which has cumulated with the division between the ethnically diverse south and Kazulian north. The clash over the Forsyth declaration has been the latest in these clashes:

The declaration:
We will to create a state of law, where the judiciary holds the power between law and chaos, and life and death. The military will be given full powers to enact the law and to enforce it with strict punishment. No man will escape the power of the army and the law.

In line with present proposals handing power back to the Judiciary and the Military, the following is declared:
Göran Lundqvist, Eva Nordén, Peter Liljeberg and Sara Malmström are to be seized and held on trial for inciting civil unrest. If they are found guilty of these charges they will face charges of unlawful imprisonment of a minister of the state and of treason if the jury supports the judge's decision on the matter. All rulings will be final and sentence brought to bear without appeal.

Peder Jaeg is to be freed, unharmed, by the VPK.

The FAF and LO are to be disbanded, together will all paramilitary forces and unions in the nation.

Any protests are to cease immediately, or be dispersed, by any means felt fit by the Judiciary.

No action is to be taken against Maria Svensson, however she is warned that if her party continues to be tied with civil unrest, legal action will be taken against her and the party she leads.

VPK/LO/FAF Joint Statement:
We completely reject every single one of these demands. James Forsyth and the RFF, having seized power fraudulently, have no legal right to issue them in the first place and we are sure the Kazulian people shall treat this so-called 'declaration' with the contempt it deserves.

Göran Lundqvist, Eva Nordén, Peter Liljeberg and Sara Malmström together with all other top VPK figures are under protection and at a secret location well inside FAF controlled territory. They do not intend to hand themselves over and all possible efforts shall be taken to ensure their continued safety.

Peter Jaeg is to be tried before a revolutionary tribunal next week. While, unlike the RFF, we have no intention of imposing the death penalty (which will remain illegal in free Kazulia) his crimes are nevertheless serious and could result in a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.

The RFF will never the proud history of Kazulia's trade union movement as represented by the LO. The LO is the only organisation we have in this country that has consistently brought about real gains for the rights of working people and its disbandment is out of the question. The general strike will continue in all areas under fascist control.

FAF similarly is not going to give up its struggle, not now and not ever. Our importance will only grow in the weeks ahead as all armed forces supporting the socialist revolution are brought under our banner. FAF from this point onwards shall exist independent of direct VPK control but will naturally be accountable both to the parliament of 3079 (which has recently reconvened) and to the working people of whom it exists as their servant.

The Revolution Moves Forward

FAF, in its attempts to restore democracy and the rule of law to Kazulia, has claimed full control over part of Flindar (including the capital Thorgerd) as well as most of Hent and Kelvon. FAF militants, together with loyal soldiers and police officers have pushed out the forces of reaction from these areas and are hoping to advance across the entire nation. The fascists of the RFF have meanwhile seized control of a number of the towns and cities situated in Dreton and Agatha as well as in northern Flindar. The RFF regime has moved to Skalm where an illegitimate parliament (the Stortinget) has issued a number of unlawful bills banning trade unions and massively curtailing civil liberties. In Thorgerd meanwhile the parliament of 3079 has reconvened and declared itself to be the only legitimate legislative authority of free Kazulia with all 501 of its seats being held by the VPK.

One of the first actions of the VPK controlled parliament has been to merge FAF with sections of the Kazulian military loyal to the revolution. FAF is now ultimately accountable to parliament but will be organised from the bottom-up with revolutionary defence committees being formed in every town and village within which local people being encouraged to actively participate. An emergency bill has also been passed declaring the RFF an “illegal, terrorist, enemy organisation” and a “threat to state security”. All members of the RFF will thereby be subject to arrest and charged with treason or with various terrorism offences, all of which carry up to 20 years under the current legal code. Basic civil liberties will nevertheless be defended and new elections will be held as early as possible in the FAF controlled territories.
