Posterior to the government's decision to ease restrictions on arms sales by Kazulian defence companies, it has long been the objective of these defence firms to increase their international profile through arms sales to various international and regional entities. Previously the government had imposed restrictions on the sale of weapons made exclusively for the Kazulian Armed Forces, barring the companies that made them from selling said equipment on the international market. Between 4370 and 4390, the Kazulian defence industry has seen a boost in activity, particularly in defence contracts issued by the Department of Defence in accordance with the armed forces' modernisation programme. Although certain arms agreements had been made with the Lourennais government, the Kalopian government and the Hulstrian government, however various officials within the defence industry has stated that various nations including Hawu Mumenhes, Vanuku and Hutori show great potential for the defence industry to develop within Kazulia. In the past years, the demand for arms has increased due to the significant security challenges that have developed throughout the world. This trend has also resulted in a marked increase in minor Kazulian arms exports to various nations (mainly allies), which is expected to continue in the years to come.

Last year, Dovani became the largest destination for Kazulian arms exports as the scope of Dovanian defence deals with Kazulia more than tripled—from $800 million to $2.4 Billion LOD. This trend continued, as Kazulia's defence exports to certain Majatran countries reached $1.2 billion, far exceeding its transactions with the countries of Artania ($700 million) and Seleya ($300 million) but still less than its defence exports to the countries of Dovani ($2.4 billion). This surge in Kazulian arms procurement is linked to a general growth in the defence budgets of Dovanian countries, which increased by 3 percent on average between 4380 and 4390. Kazulia supplied Dovanian countries with technological solutions for monitoring national borders, fighting terrorism, and protecting against cyber threats, a component which has become increasingly significant in the arsenal of Kazulian defence companies. The most significant elements of the overall export agreements signed by the Kazulian arms industry in 4390 have been the enhancement of planes and air systems (20 percent), observation and optics (18 percent), missiles and air defence systems (15 percent), ammunition and weapons positions (13 percent), radar technology (12 percent), intelligence, information, and cyber systems (8 percent), and UAVs (7 percent).

According to Magnus Rosenblad, Chairman and CEO of Asvald Gruppen stated that the company would be opening various defence systems to the international market including the AC-16 (HK416), AC-13 (AK5) and the Gng m/58 (Carl Gustav recoilless rifle) AV-13 Fiskeørn, the AV60 (CV90) armoured vehicle, the Tapperhet Oplot (Patria Pasi), the Tapperhet AMV (Patria AMV), the Skjǫldr family of missile defence systems (NASAMS) and the Artillerisystem 56 (ARCHER Artillery System), with companies such as Viserby Systems and Pennington-Reid opening systems as the PT70 (CB90), the Queen Ingrid-class amphibious assault ship (Canberra-class), the Flindar-class submarine (Gotland-class) and according to Pennington-Reid CEO Patrick Westermark, the company would be opening the Project CB002 Combat Boat to bidding for companies to be included in the vessel's development and construction. According to Westermark, opening the project for the inclusion of other defence firms and potentially national governments would allow for the vessel to obtain the technological prowess seeing in the Z-35 Joint Strike Fighters and X-43 Programme. It is expected that this bold move by the Kazulian Defence Industry could prove beneficial towards its development, seeing that it is one of the most experienced and capable defence industries in the world.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sindre Granberg announced a series of landmark moves aimed at normalising ties with Deltaria amid years of tumultuous relations. Strengthened relations, according to an official statement by the Department of Foreign Affairs has the potential of allowing for the Kingdom of Kazulia to be re-introduced into the Majatran community after decades of being diplomatic silence with the due to the previous various regional constraints. In the past months Minister Granberg has been steadfast on improving diplomatic relations with various nations across the international spectrum amid her announced intentions of improving the soft power clout of the Kingdom of Kazulia and positioning the nation on a better standing that it current is as it pertains to diplomatic relations.
Relations between Deltaria and Kazulia must normalise before we move forward on any agreement. Similar to our policy on Istalia, once a formal normalisation of relations has been agreed up, we intend on moving forward with trade agreement, diplomatic agreements and perhaps military agreements between the two nations. However, a normalisation of relations must be unanimously agreed upon.

Minister Granberg announced the landmark moves during her visit to Deltaria. She announced her intention to form a formal diplomatic and trade agreement between the Deltaria and Kazulia. The proposed agreement would be the first formal agreement between Kazulia and a majatran nation in decades. Although some speculated that Kazulia first majatra trade agreement would be signed with the Istalian Republic, however, Granberg knocked down the idea, citing the fact that although such an agreement will come in the future, it will not come as soon as the agreement with Deltaria.

Kazulian-led coalition storm stronghold fortresses
Northern Council coalition storms stronghold Imperial Army fortresses in Asahama and Garaat.

Earlier this morning, on the background of the Northern Council's operations in Bianjie, it had been announced that the Kazulian-led coalition had liberated the cities of Asahama and Garaat from imperial control, in what has been dobbed as the first major engagement in the conflict between the Northern Council and Emperor Itoh's Bianjie. According to information released by the Federal Department of Defence, thousands of Kazulian, Lourennais and Hulstrian troops attacked various fortresses around the cities of Asahama and Garaat, moving by land and through the air to destroy the imperial army's largest havens in the province and begin a campaign to reassert the presence of the Indralan minority and a democratic government in the form of the Northern Council sponsored National Reconstructive Assembly. The force of about 120,000—a majority being Indralan militia—began moving into the two cities simultaneously around midnight. As Hulstrian and Lourennais ground troops enter the outskirts of the cities, Kazulian paratroopers were dropped in the middle of both cities via helicopter insertion. During their operations to secure various positions around the cities and establish positions around the fortresses, the paratroopers received little to no resistance mainly due to the fact that according to officials within the FDoD, Kazulian special operations teams had swept the cities before the airborne insertion. With most of the residents in the town still sleeping, Brigadier Nicolai Ditlevsen, commander of the airborne operation, the objective of the combined insertion of ground forces and airborne troops was not to shake the branch, but to bring down the entire tree.

Prior to assaulting the major fortresses, aircraft from the Kazulian Air Force pounded fortifications around the fortress' perimeter and also bombed positions in northern Bianjie where high ranking commanders were believed to be hiding. Hulstrian troops began to establish cordons around the city in anticipation of the ground assault that would follow. Outside Asahama and Garaat stand stronghold positions of the Imperial Army, whereby the Imperial Army had been firmly entrenched. At dawn, Kazulian, Hulstrian, Lourennais and Indralan militia made their way through the town and towards the fortress. Through close-air-support, the fortress' inner fortifications had been brought down via bunker-busting missiles. According to Brigadier Ditlevsen, stiff resistance had been met upon entering the massive fortresses. Ditlevsen stressed on the importance of speed with respect to the operation itself, citing Emperor Itoh's proclamation of an insurgency against the coalition-forces, operations had to been conducted before the civilian population were aware that the fortresses were under attack. Psychological warfare units had conducted operations throughout Bianjie, as it had been believed by General Holger Kirkegaard, commander of Northern Council operations in Bianjie, the war must be aimed at wining the hearts and minds of the people.

The operation concluded when the Northern Council hoisted a flag of the National Reconstructive Assembly above the fortresses in Asahama and Garaat. Although it has been reported that minor skirmishes are on-going, major battle-groups of the Imperial Army had been destroyed, with paratroopers reporting to have eliminated a quick reaction force which served in reserve to the fortresses and their garrisoned troops. In other news, following recent developments in the Sea of Lost Souls, the Kazulian signals intelligence ship KNS-Oliver Fiske had been ordered to withdraw from the region after gathering data on Hawu Mumenhes, Istalia and Saridani military units, with a response from the Northern Council to be announced in the coming days.

FDoD concludes multi-million dollar deal with Selucia and Lourenne
Department of Defence concludes major multi-million dollar deal with Selucia and Lourenne on arms procurement.

Earlier this morning, the Department of Defence announced that it had concluded negotiations with Selucia and Lourenne on a $5 Billion LOD arms deal which will provide the aforementioned nations with armoured vehicles, surface-to-air missile systems and submarines. After 3 months of secret negotiations by Foreign Minister Sindre Granberg, it had been concluded that the kazulian government, through its recent move to open various defence systems to the international market, would sell and construct weapons systems for the Selucian and Lourennais government. While it had been speculated that the main goal of the negotiations was to continue the relationship between the governments in Skalm, Eroncourt and Auroria, especially with Eroncourt as Lourennais maintains a defence and security memorandum of understanding with Kazulia which enables Lourenne to procure weapons from Kazulia, it was equally important to improve the capabilities of Selucia. According to Minister Granberg, the objective of the deal made between Kazulia, Lourenne and Kazulia was not made to boost the capabilities of the aforementioned nations, but was to boost the relationship between the respective governments.

Under the agreements, each nation would be allowed to purchase advanced armaments from Kazulian contractors. In the case of Lourenne, there entailed a $5 Billion LOD Kazulian financial assistance package that would be placed on top of the existing $5 Billion LOD military aid package. Lourenne, according to officials from Asvald Gruppen, would purchase armoured vehicles, specifically 50 Tapperhet AMVs and 6 units of the Skjǫldr-1 air defence system. Selucia would purchase 5 units of the Skjǫldr-1 air defence system and it has been reported that both Pennington-Reid and Asvald Gruppen will be working together on developing a variant of the Kazulian Navy's Flindar-class (Gotland-class) submarines made for the specifications of the Selucian Navy. The arms deal had little to no opposition within the Stortinget with some politicians calling for the government to increase arms sales, especially to nations such as Lourenne and Hulstria, whom have been slowly moving towards modernising their respective armed forces.

According to an official from within the Federal Department of Defence, the deals between Selucia and Lourenne had made a combined total of around $5 Billion LOD. Under the terms of the agreement as it pertains to Lourenne, the Tapperhet AMVs would enable Lourenne to move troops rapidly from points A to B under armoured protection. According to an official from Asvald Gruppen, the variant of the AMVs being constructed for Lourenne would be the Tapperhet AMV-B3 and AMV-B2 which are modifications of the stock AMV which is specifically made as tank destroyers and urban warfare respectively. Separate from the aforementioned arms deal, Lourenne will be receiving military hardware under the Kazulian-Lourennais Memorandum on Defence and Security. Under the terms of the memorandum, the Kazulian defence industry would assist in the procurement of Lourennais combatant equipment including combatant ships and armoured vehicles. Currently, the Lourennais Armed Forces is in need of a major modernisation. As the nation becomes increasingly involved in international incidents including the nation's involvement in the situation in Medina, a modern and combat effective Lourennais Armed Forces would significantly contribute to stability within the region of Dovani. Currently, the Lourennais Navy receives monthly combat training from the Kazulian Navy, the most modern and capable navies in the Northern Hemisphere and one of the most powerful navies in the wider world.

Kazulia aims for manned moon landing by 4410
Kazulia wants to put astronauts on the moon by 4410, proposes united front with Hutori.

The Kazulian Government wants to place astronauts on the moon by 4410, an official from the Space Exploration and Exploitation Directorate (SEED) said, as it would be the latest goal in the Kazulian space exploration programme. Although Kazulia has been to the moon in the form of a Kazulian flag sent to the moon through the Dorvish and Trigunian space programmes, Kazulia is yet to send a man into space or to the moon using its own rockets. SEED had conducted various lunar operations mainly via "soft landings" in the form of the Skolopender rover. Apart of the space exploration push by SEED, the nation intends on pushing the narrative of a global push towards space and strengthening cooperation in the form of the potential formation of an international lunar station. Kazulia must “raise its abilities and use the next 15 to 20 years to realise manned lunar exploration goals, and take a firm step for the Kazulian people in breaking ground in the utilisation of space”, Gjur Wallenberg, Director of the Space Exploration and Exploitation Directorate. A review conducted by the directorate revealed that several advances needed to be made before SEED could send a Kazulian into space and onto the moon. The review suggested that the space programme would have to obtain a powerful enough rocket to lift a payload of at least 100 metric tons into low orbit and also develop space suits for a lunar mission.

Since 4387, SEED has been conducting various tests with the Stormspike family of launch vehicles, with the Stormspike XII being the latest Super heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of launching large payloads into space. In previous times, the Stormspike launch vehicles had proven to have various technical issues. This was seen in 4367 when the Stormspike VII launch vehicle had to be brought down by Guardian missile defence systems after technical issues. Advancing the space programme is of great importance to Skalm, as various domestic changes are dependent on the nation's position in space. The Government White Paper on the Future of the Kazulian Armed Forces outlined the importance of the modernisation of surveillance and electronic warfare systems within the nation and called for the launching of two additional GAMS satellites and the deployment of another in the Southern Hemisphere. The Defence Department has expressed urgency on the modernisation/upgrade of the GAMS satellites positioned in the Northern Hemisphere under the control of the Northern Council and the Northern Defence Integrated Command (NORDIC).

In a change of events, the Hutorian government has recently re-activated its space programme known as Project Lunar Arrow, which similar to the ambitions of SEED, would attempt to land a Hutorian astronaut on the moon. Hutori's space exploration agency, SERA (Space Exploration and Research Agency), launched Project Lunar Arrow years before SEED announced its intentions of launching a lunar programme. According to Director Wallenberg, he had already contacted the Hutorian Government and the Director of SERA on a possible joint venture on sending a Hutorian and a Kazulian to the moon. Currently, SEED will continue advancing the Stormspike family of rockets to be better prepared for lunar missions and beyond.

Piracy in Central Dovani increases dramatically ~ FESO
Incidents in Sovereign Sea, Midway Gulf and Midway Canal puts international shipping at risk
Image

Pirate attacks in the Sovereign Sea, the Midway Gulf and along the Midway Canal have increased dramatically, rising fears that the affected region could disrupt international trade passing through the aforementioned bodies of water, this is according to the Defence Intelligence and Security Organisation (FESO) which has been monitoring developments in the Sovereign Sea since the initial dispatching of Kazulian naval assets to the region. It had been reported by FESO and the nations along the Sovereign Sea and the Midway Gulf that there had been an increasing frequency in pirate attacks against commercial ships travelling along the aforementioned routes. Piracy in the Sovereign Sea, the Midway Gulf and along the Midway Canal has escalated from low-level armed robberies to hijackings, cargo thefts and large-scale robberies over the past eight months, according to FESO. Annually, FESO produces a list of "High-Risk" international trade routes, although the Sovereign Sea, the Midway Gulf and the Midway Canal were not listed mainly due to the attempts of the Kazulian Navy in combating the clout of piracy over the past decade, the aforementioned bodies of water are expected to be placed on the list once more, with them being marked as "Extreme-Risk" areas with advisories to avoid transit along the waters.

Piracy posses a grave threat to international shipping coming into Central Dovani, Vascania and Western Majatra along the Red Bass Ocean. Various nations such as Midway are extremely dependent on international shipping, with the nations along the Sea of Carina being extremely dependent on international shipping coming through the Midway Canal. While lower than the 102 attacks attributed to Rapa Pile pirates in 4380, analysts say the number of attacks off Midway waters are unreported for unknown reasons.
Bernhard Graversen, an analyst at FESO wrote:The situation in Central Dovani is increasingly deteriorating, with large amounts of international shipping being diverted from the region over fears of piracy. We [Kazulia] have been fighting piracy in this region for decades now on our own without the assistance of the international community and it is becoming clear to us that we need international support.

Piracy in the region has been a problem for Kazulia since the nation initially involved itself in the situation with the intentions of bringing the situation to an end. Piracy in other regions have been encouraged by the impact of piracy in Central Dovani, as their focus tends to be on robberies and kidnapping for ransoms rather than seizing vessels. According to Commander of the National Coast Guard of Midway, Commander Hoshino Shinsui, pirates within the Midway Gulf and in the Midway Canal are more violent than their counterparts operating in the Sovereign Sea, with reports documenting pirates shooting and brutally torturing the crew of various ships. Just last week a coast guard vessel was ambushed along the winding channels of the Midway Canal which resulted in the deaths of the vessel's crew and the subsequent capture of the vessel by pirates. Officials from the Kazulian Navy and the Midway Coast Guard met on-board the KNS-Ruben Saether frigate which operates in the region alongside 5 additional vessels to discuss piracy concerns. Vice-Admiral Thorvald Eskildsen, commander of the Kazulian anti-piracy operation coined Operation Marlin, has called upon Kazulia's Northern Council allies and the wider international community to assist in anti-piracy operations. It has been reported that the Kazulian Navy will be positioning additional vessels in the region as apart of its attempts to address the rising frequency of pirate attacks.

NORDIC moves to construct radar stations across globe.
NORDIC sub-alliance seeks to construct radar stations across globe to ensure global aerospace monitoring and defence.
Image
The Asmundarleioi Early Warning Station on the island of Arenheim as apart of the Northern Defence Integrated Command (NORDIC) system.
Image

With construction of the Asmundarleioi Early Warning Station on the island of Arenheim, the Northern Defence Integrated Command has expressed its desire in construct several radar stations across the Northern and Southern Hemisphere, mainly in allied nations. This comes in response to concerns within the sub-alliance as to the lack of modern radar stations open for the use of the wider Northern Council. Although various nations within the Northern Council alliance possess advanced radar/monitoring stations, the Northern Council lacks the numbers as only a handful of such stations can only be found in Hutori and Kazulia. From RKAF Hringariki, Kazulia and Hutori monitor international aerospace traffic through the efforts of the Global Aerospace Monitoring System (GAMS) which enables the two nations to monitor the movements of commercial and combatant aircraft throughout the Northern Hemisphere in an attempt to respond to instances related to aerospace forces of other nations. Lieutenant General Thorleif Ramsland, Joint Commander of the Northern Defence Integrated Command alongside Hutorian Major General Garret Isaac have expressed concern as it pertains to the alliance's ability to detect and react to presence of ballistic missiles in the aerospace of the Northern Hemisphere.
Secretary-General of the Northern Council, Haakon Egeland wrote:The security environment which surrounds the international community is changing. We are beginning to see more assertive nations, we also see the turmoil and violence in various regions of the globe. To that end, the Northern Council is responding by increasing its presence in regions of interest. We are strengthening our presence in the Central Dovani, Majatra and Seleya regions through measures on land, sea and air. As it pertains to the various "Great Powers", the Northern Council does not seek confrontation, thus our response is measured and involves said Great Powers to a significant degree. However, i stress on the fact that this alliance stands together, with all nations ready to protect each-other. We are seeing that various nations are becoming increasingly active as it pertains to their clandestine development of ballistic missiles and weapons of mass destruction. This accentuates the need for this alliance's push towards a united ballistic missile defence system and through the efforts of NORDIC that could be achieved.

According to Lieutenant General Ramsland, early warning stations, aerospace monitoring stations and cybernetic traffic monitoring systems are expected to be built in nations such as Luthori, Lourenne, Dorvik, Dolgava, New Endralon, Hulstria, Rutania, Hutori, Telamon and the commonwealth nations of Mordusia and Alduria, with Hutori ,Luthori, New Endralon, Kazulia and potentially Dorvik set to work on developing a joint missile defence network. Currently, various nations within the Northern Council do not possess ballistic missile defence systems and are solely dependent on the "good-will" of other nations, some outside of the Northern Council, to ensure their security as it pertains to ballistic missiles. Currently, the Kazulian Government is reorienting the long in development Skjǫldr-3 air defence system away from being a modernised/improved variant of the existing Skjǫldr-2 surface to air missile system and shifting it towards being the nation's first successful anti-ballistic missile system, however word has come out that the government will order more than 50 units of the Zardic Guardian anti-ballistic missile system, however this has not been confirmed by the Department of Defence.

BREAKING NEWS: Simultaneous Attacks in Skalm leave hundreds dead and injured
Skalm simultaneous attack leaves more than 500 injured and dead; Government initiates emergency security protocols.
Image
Agents of the Federal Police posterior to the attacks.

A terrorist organisation loyal to Bianjie's Emperor Itoh has claimed responsibility for two bomb attacks that killed more than 100 people and injured 500 more in Thorbjornsson Park and in-front of Brimnesskogar House in Skalm earlier this morning. It had been reported that forces loyal to Emperor Itoh's terror campaign against the Kazulian-led coalition in Bianjie, who were responsible for the chemical attack against Kazulian soldiers, carried out the attacks via explosive devices. It was reported from eyewitness accounts that in Victoria Park a shrapnel bomb had been exploded and at the Ministry of Defence the individual responsible had been shoot at by armed police officers before setting of the device which had been strapped onto his chest. The attacks had been presumably timed with rush hour as a means of inflicting the most damage. Skalm Metropolitan Police have appealed to the public to assist them in identifying an individual who had accompanied the two bombers prior to their planned execution. The coordinated attacks comes days after a chemical attack had been launched against Kazulian troops operating in Bianjie at the hands of Emperor Itoh's forces. The Security Bureau has raised the national terror warning to its highest level and has initiated emergency protocols throughout the city and the wider nation. The Federal Police has forced the cancellation of several international and regional flights and has ordered the "shut down" of Skalm's metro network.
A bystander wrote:Yet again our nation is hit by a series of attacks. Our nation has taken a beating from the various attacks in our pasts, however, it ends here.

Local media quoted witnesses as saying shots were fired and shouts in Kunikata were heard shortly before the blasts in Thorbjornsson Park and Brimnesskogar House. More than 500 were reported injured. Health workers treating the wounded said one of the bombs contained nails and small amounts of scrapped metal. More than 12,000 persons were evacuated from the affected areas as law enforcement officials are attempting to contain the situation. According to officials from the Department of Domestic Affairs, Brimnesskogar House had sustained damage however not to an extent which mandates the building's designation as being "unsafe". According to an engineer who worked on building Brimnesskogar House, the building had been designed to withstand earthquakes and posterior to attacks in the past which were aimed against the building itself, bulletproof glass had replaced the building's plain windows. An emergency official reporting from Thorbjornsson Park stated that most of park's infrastructure had been destroyed; trees, benches, stalls, etc. Immediately after the attacks, the Security Bureau launched a security protocol in response to a mass causality event. Hent, Kelvon, Agatha and Flindar State Police have responded to the attacks in Skalm by significantly increasing their presence in major areas such as airports, metro stations and other public spaces. The Home Guard has been deployed to the border regions with all 100,000 reserves being called up and sent to their respective postings. The Federal Police has reportedly introduced the Federal Protection Unit 3 to the situation as a means of hunting for the third individual whom Skalm Police are attempting to identify.

The Defence and National Security Council is intended to meet in the coming hours to form an official government response to the issue. Although much information pertaining to the discussions held within the Palace will not be disclosed to the general public, after the meeting, Director of the Security Bureau, Trond Nicolaysen stated that he intends on pushing the government initiate Directive 46 . He outlined that if initiated a nationwide state of emergency would be announced and the Security Bureau would be essentially shutting down the nation from the outside world. He stated that in accordance with Directive 46, the National Police Service will be given firearms and ordered to cease all firearms (both legal and illegal). All international flights in and out of the country will be derailed and nation's borders closed to immigration. The Home Guard will be deployed to all borders and the Home Guard deployed to quash instances of violence and dissidence. With the nation as a state of alert mirroring that of a wartime footing, the intelligence community has gone completely dark with little to no information coming from the Central Committee for Intelligence and Special Operations (SESO) and the Defence Intelligence and Security Organisation (FESO). Queen Alexandra expressed great anger in the situation and called for the population to "rally against the curs that have sought to bring this nation to its knees".

Shock and Awe: Kazulia descends on Bianjie amid Skalm attacks
Kingdom of Kazulia unleashes military might on Bianjie Imperialist; Prompts major troop movements.
Image
Around 240,000 troops are to be rotated to the Mo Ching International Airport amid Kazulia searches for vengeance.
Image

Prime Minister Henry Wahlberg, Governor-General Harald Mikaelsen and Queen Alexandra unanimously announced open hostilities with Bianji's Imperial government and the expansion of the military campaign against the aforementioned Imperial government. Sources from within the Federal Department of Defence have stated that the decision by the government in Skalm to expand the campaign in Bianjie comes amid the recent attacks against Kazulia launched on the command of Emperor Itoh. After announcing the news to the international community, a defiant Emperor Itoh took to Bianjie television to denounce the Kazulian government labelling the nation's presence in the country as "illegal" and to say that his countrymen would be victorious once more. He championed the sentiment of using various tactics to halt to drive of the Kazulian campaign and threatened to conduct another chemical attack against Kazulian troops in the nation. Minister of Defence Gudhlek Lundberg has stated that the expansion of the campaign through the rotation of more than 240,000 troops to Bianjie had come in response to the Skalm attacks and the fact that the government and the people of Kazulia wants absolute retribution. The attacks recently executed in Skalm left around 100 people dead and more than 500 injured or in critical condition. It had been uncovered that the attacks had been executed on the command of Emperor Itoh and his "terror campaign" against Kazulia.

More than 50 cruise missiles, precision bombs, bunker-busting missiles were launched from warships in the Anantonese Sea, landing on various positions across Bianjie. Around 130 warplanes conducted sorties across Bianjie with the aims of a decapitation strike against Emperor Itoh and the chain of command of the Imperial army. Among the sites destroyed during the display of Kazulia's might, several chemical weapons facilities, weapons and ammo storage depots, major fuel depots and military installations including major fortresses, training camps and troop barracks. Immediately after the airstrikes artillery units positioned as Mo Ching International Airport targeted government offices in the capital and the Imperial Palace in an attempt to force Emperor Itoh to surface. It had been reported that several bunker-busting missiles had targeted the Imperial Palace where it was believed that Emperor Itoh had been hiding. Intelligence gathered from the Defence Intelligence and Security Organisation had led to strikes against Bianjie anti-air systems scattered across the southern portions of the nation. It had been reported that the Central Committee for Intelligence and Special Operations (SESO) was operating within in Bianjie in search for high-ranking members of the Imperial Armed Forces and the Imperial Government, however this has not been confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Image
Cluster munitions being dropped on an Imperial Army fortification within the "lowlands"

Posterior to the aforementioned artillery "thunder strike", Kazulian tanks and troops swept across the marginal line separating Kazulian troops from the remainder of Bianjie, opening a full-scale ground war against the Emperor Itoh's regime. The stated goal of the ground offensive according to Lt. General Harald Mathiasen, Commander of the Kazulian Security Forces was to destroy the infrastructure of Emperor Itoh's regime and to the usher the nation towards an era of democratic rule. The assault brings new risks and the prospect of many new casualties on both sides in a confrontation. While a ground war in densely populated Bianjie is likely to increase the civilian toll there, the Kazulian Army also faces new threats. Since seizing control of the territory a year and a half ago, Emperor Itoh's Imperial Forces has been able to smuggle in more dangerous weapons and launch an insurgency/terror campaign against the Kazulian Security Forces. Around 120,000 troops with CBRN equipment and training have left Mo Ching International Airport and are now hard-charging the Bianjie southern regions. Troops from the Army and the Home Guard have been rotated to the region, with counter-insurgency training to be conducted with the introduction of the Home Guard, which had garnered significant experience in counter-insurgency in suppressing the minor insurgencies in Hent decades prior. With the Imperial Forces coming increasingly desperate to the point that an insurgency had been launched by Emperor Itoh, the Kazulian Security Forces are expected to have little restrain against the Imperial Armed Forces on a background of the attacks in Skalm.

As apart of the psychological warfare campaign, the Kazulian Army dropped thousands of leaflets into some residential districts warning inhabitants to evacuate their homes. Because of “the activity of terrorist groups,” the leaflets said in Kunikata, the army “is obliged to respond quickly and work from inside your residential area.” Many residents of one apartment block in the affected areas said they had nowhere else to go and would stay in their homes. To boost support for the Indralan Defence Corps which are completely surrounded, it had been reported that the Kazulian Air Force has begun airlifting supplies into the mountain ranges. With the last battalion of Lourennais and Hulstrian troops withdrawing from Bianjie on direct orders from Kazulian Commanders, it appears that Kazulia's offensives in Bianjie have become personal amid the attacks in Skalm. The Department of Foreign Affairs has open a $20 million bounty on Emperor Itoh, thus prompting Bianjie's population and external entities to drive towards capturing Emperor Itoh. According to Lt. General Mathiasen the campaign is expected to be swift and merciless as some of the nation's most elite soldiers including special operations forces, marines and the Queen's Guards are currently participating in various operations throughout Bianjie, might it be behind Imperial lines or with the main thrust of the Kazulian Security Forces towards the South.

In a scene reminiscent of a foreign military invasion, troops have been deployed to the streets of Skalm amid the Security Bureau was granted permission to initiate Directive 46, thus allowing the Home Guard presence to be heightened throughout the nation. Both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Domestic Affairs made clear in their announcement of the move that they are extremely wary of the political impact of the sight of armed soldiers patrolling the streets of Britain and want to use them for as short a time as possible. The deployment of troops onto the streets of Skalm has been dubbed as a major internal security move by the Security Services and directly flows from the decision to raise the threat level to its highest category. With the implementation of Directive 46, armed police officers responsible for duties such as guarding key sites will be replaced by members of the armed forces, which will allow the police to significantly increase the number of armed officers on patrol in key locations. It also means that police officers who previously did not carry firearms will be training in firearms use and safety and subsequently awarded with a temporary special firearms certificate, thus allowing them to carry firearms within a temporary period. The Queen's Guard had been deployed to public areas also metropolitan Skalm including sports centres and public parks in-order to assist the police in maintaining order and security.

Operation Temptation means that up to 5,000 armed troops can be deployed at sensitive sites and events, transport hubs and other crowded public places in order to release the armed police for other policing duties. They can only be used “to augment armed police officers engaged in protective security duties” and can only be authorised by an emergency defence meeting. The Department of Domestic Affairs stressed on the fact that the deployment of troops to the nation's streets was a temporary measure and the public will see their withdrawal from the nation's streets when the Security Bureau declares that the national threat level can be reduced. The decision to increase the threat level was taken by the National Counter-Terrorism Operations Centre, which analyses and assesses all intelligence relating to international terrorism in Kazulia and overseas. It brings together counter-terrorism experts from the police, the security services and the departments of Brimnesskogar House. National Commissioner of the Federal Police, Alfred Hanssen stated that they had launched an investigation into the attacks and was in consistent collaboration with the Security Bureau and the other security services.
