The phoenix flies again in the Zardic skiesWill it be gracefull or destructive? After an early election, the Liberecana Unio, spearheaded by Maya Laršen, has gained a close victory and now she, and the re-elected, rather radically capitalist, president Maršo Petkido lead the nation to a new future. Which is full of hardships and difficulty.
Maršo Petkido winning a very close election over his ZNLP counterpart.First, this issue will comment on the Libertarian Manifesto, which is probably the most polarizing peace of legislation passed in Zardugalo since the beginning of the century. Supporters could not believe their eyes and celebrated euphorically the passage of this bill. It deregulated the markets and allowed almost full social freedoms. Consequentially, employers and young people greeted this bill with open arms. On the other hand, employees, especially older ones and socialists are sceptical and even frightened what it might do. The older, more conservative generation, speaks of complete abandonment of values, whilst in socialist circles, not without the tailwind provided by the socialist federation at the border, speak of complete capitulation to greed and capital.
The first response of the current government to these accusations was from Alfio Provo, the son of former, very popular, president Marco Provo, and Minister of Finance:
It is astounding how when people are provided all the liberties in the world, try to hide away from the opportunity and start shouting populist slogans instead of actually thinking, and getting out there and seizing this opportunity. It is now easier than ever to earn money,
start a business, finding love... you want to seize the means of production, then go out there and create something, the means of production are just waiting to be utilised, just don't forcefully steel them from someone who worked so hard to gain them. The free market will allocate Ressources most efficiently according to demand. People call us environmentalist, which is false, we just allow the market to adjust, and it adjusted naturally to greener fuels, which turn out to be efficient. We are staying true to our policies. To our libertarianism!
In the meantime, the Chief Minister, Maya Laršen, has provided us with the tax changes that are always a topic in Zardugalo. Under the slogan:
We don't need a new tax system, we need tax reform!
She claims to have found the solution to boost the economy, still have government spending and close loopholes. The new spending and taxation policies stay very close to that statement. The spending policy agrees with the party's policy of lack of wealth redistribution, as it
Only causes Inflation
. However it does provide for free schools, which are vital as Children are the future and are not capable of consent and therefore have to get the vest by default, which is education. It provides for Infrastructure adjustments as the government plans on expanding Zardic ports and military. The tax policy was simplified to 3 brackets, 1%; 15% and 35%; with no clear loopholes and only having tax exemptions on charitable donations. The drastic lowering of tax should give the economy a major boost in all sectors, but people are afraid of the growing divide between rich and poor, to which Maya Laršen has given the controversial statement:
Work! If you are healthy, then we have provided you with everything to get out of poverty and into the middle and upper classes;
It is all up to you now.
This delegation of Responsibility to care for the nation has angered many on the left, but pleased many fiscally conservative members of zardic society, again it seems that the LU feeds of polarization.
In terms of Finance, the LU has issued their firm stance on the issue of what would the government do, in case of a crash of the Banking sector. The experiences of the financial crisis are still very highlighted in the memory, and therefore Maršo Petkido has stated, short and concise, yet frightening:
The banks are private instututions, if they can't handle their own affairs, no one can. Should they collapse, and I say this as a Warning:
The LU government will let the banks Fail! No bailout, no empathy for the corporation, nothing. We can deal with the aftermath, with all the unemployed, but keeping a dead patient alive is not in anyones, especially the tax payers', interest.
This came right in time for the passage of the Conservative Party initiated anti corruption act. Which was taken over by the LU and is a signal to everyone, that they act exclusively in the interest of the people, not Corporations. Communists say it is a cover up.
The LU has also adapted the Conservative government's military rearmament plans, to make Zardugalo a military powerhouse in Majatra and to adjust to the current unfriendly relations with our neighbours, namely the Socialist Federation and their Vanukan allies. Talks with the minority party, ZNLP, has resulted in the appointment of Saria Mozby as the new Director of the Zardic National Security Organization, to together combat the threats facing our beautiful nation.
Speaking of our Neighbors, due to the current not completely shut Borders between Zardugalo and Jelbania, an increased flow of migrants is coming our way, fleeing from the grasps of the Socialists, and not wanting to flee to Vanuku, who is a supporter of the Federation. This has led to border tensions between the nations, between which the relations were never good. We might remember how Zardugalo wanted to annex Rilmos to gain access to the Sea of Majatra. These events don't make any relationship warm. And now with the rise of the socialist super state, They have reached a new low.
There are also historic good news in terms of foreign policy. The Zardo-Istalian Alliance and common economic area has been established. After years of dialogue, the nations were ready to unite, not only in tge face of the socialist danger, but also due to common economic and social goals: To emerge as leaders of Majatra!
http://classic.particracy.net/viewtreat ... atyid=3736Maršo Petkido immediately released a statement on this historic achievement:
This is a historic achivement of international diplomacy: putting under common management different political and economic sectors which will be administered by ad hoc bodies formed by representations of the various Ministries of the two nations.
The two national currencies of Istalia and Zardugal will therefore be tied by a fixed rate which will correspond to 1 LIS = 4 ZAR even if in reality they will be tied to a Monetary Unit of Account which will be called ZICU (Zardic Istalian Currency Unit) which will contribute to harmonize the operations between the two currencies, will be used to calculate the budgets of the Alliance's common organs, it will be a very important tool for dealing with the international market, avoiding shocks and ensuring greater security and stability and thus simplifying operations on financial markets.
Another major anouncement made by the new and radically Capitalist LU government, is the upcoming major expansion of ports all around Zardugalo. Using the Konstandian port as an example. All the other major port cities will receive an overhaul and an expansion similar to Konstandian size, to accommodate the increased Zardic navy and of course the massively increased trade between Istalia and Zardugalo.
Finally, the President, together with the Chief Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, have released a joint statement concerning Majatran foreign policy:
We fully recognise the independent and sovereign Federal Republic of Kalopia-Wantuni, as long as the federalization is peaceful, just and democratic. It should uphold these humanitarian values. We condemn the actions of our Northern neighbour Vanuku and see is as a direct threat to Zardic strength and stability, however no measures will be taken yet, before all diplomatic channels have been tested. In regards to the Socialist Federation at our Eastern border, all trade between the nations who do not oblige to the most basic democratic and humanitarian principles are sanctioned from trade with the Federacio de Zardugalo, and therefore this list of trade sanctioned nations now sadly includes all the member nations of the Socialist Federation. However we will support the refugees fleeing from these oppressive communist amd undemocratic regimes and we will not abandon diplomacy.
