GRP allows minority government

Minister, Social democrat leader and member of the GRP board of directors Arnold Bitterberg announced that most social democrats endorse a PAN minority government.

Of course I would prefer to have a GRP government but without a GRP president this is not possible. I suppose we need to rethink our strategy for the next elections to ensure we have a total victory next time. Our current decision is the best possible outcome. The only alternative would be early elections and while we are always ready for elections we don't think it is the will of the people

Later this day former President Gerhard Ludwig von Thaller apologized to his party stating it was solely his fault the GRP could not win the presidency

I was not present enough as a president and I lacked creativity and vigor. I hope my successor from PAN and his future rival, the next presidential candidate of GRP will be able to do a better job

Women's Right Controversy

The newly elected Reichstag of Narikaton is currently debating on the new Womens Right bill from the Patriotic Alliance. It would revoke the right of women to work in so-called 'potentially dangerous jobs', the social democrats have already rejected the bill as expected. Opinion polls show that the issue is likely to develop into a nation-wide controversy as more and more activists from both sides of the spectrum contribute to the debate. President Thomas Reinhard von Thaller has not yet commented on his party's proposal.

Book about Civil War published

The diary of Erich Humboldt has been published, a book written by a soldier of the Trauerstein league. It tells stories about the orders given from above and the day-to-day fight for survival during the bloody conflict. Sales figures are very high and marketing specialists estimate that is going to be the best selling book of the current year. Political experts comment that it might also have some political backlash, we're all expecting media reviews but none have been published yet. Apparently no side of the civil war appears as the 'good guy' of the story.

Government re-opens FAUST cases

The new government under Thomas Reinhard von Thaller announced that it is going to re-open the FAUST case files and promised to make even some of the most confidential files available to the public. His words were "A clear statement that our justice system has to be transparent, it is a strong symbol against the friendship-politics of the Reformparty."

Desiderius Siebenstein becomes member of parliament

After the sudden death of Erna Hellweg the GRP board of directors decided to grant the seat to Desiderius Siebenstein, former Chancellor and leader of FAUST. It is mostly due to the efforts of Social Democrat leader Arnold Bitterberg that Siebenstein can once again work as a politician. While the former Chancellor is officially not guilty his re entering into Narik politics shows a trend that is warily observed by members of PAN and the GRP alike. More and more former official members of FAUST and even members of FAUST's paramilitary organisation are allowed into the GRP and are starting to get influence in the party. Some even fear a former member of FAUST might run for the presidency next year. FAUST had several von Thaller family in its ranks. Especially the more obscure members of the dynasty.

While the behaviour of the GRP ist completely legal, integrating politicians of the former regime seems untrustworthy and corrupt. The presence of former FAUST members might therefore reflect badly on the reputation of the GRP as a whole.

GRP leader Pierre Kaschnick injured during car accident

Today Pierre Kaschnick was heavily injured in a car accident. The exact circumstances are still unclear. Kaschnick is currently in hospital. Further information is not available. For the time being Anke Chormeister will fulfill Kaschnick's duties as party leader.

FAUST case closed; Trauerstein Case in process

After the recent review of the FAUST case, the government announced that the previous administrations completed and solved the case professionally. They state that in a few months they will release the files for the public to read. Additionally they have re-opened the Trauerstein case and requested the transportation of the former Reichskanzler from Deltaria to Narikaton.

Friedrich Shukanov leaves politics

Vice President Friedrich Shukanov recently called for a press-conference in which he initially wanted to comment on the current state of the nation but instead in a surprising turn of events he announced his departure from politics. His words were "[...] My key role in creating this stable republic has been fulfilled and I wish the best of luck to the colleagues in my party and those in the Reformparty. I am confident that all honorable thallerist republicans will hinder the FAUST traitors to destroy our new regime. Prosperity to the people of Narikaton and Heil Thaller!"

GRP Party Congress 4497

Pierre Kaschnick formally resigned as GRP leader because of his injury. The winner of the leadership elections that were held today ist Anke Chormeister, a Social Democrat who took over the leadership as a provisional solution. Now her leadership was democratically confirmed and she will stay GRP leader for the next 4 years. The candidate of the Liberal wing had no chance due to the social democrat dominance in the GRP.

Later this day the Presidential candidate for the upcoming elections was determined. Winner is Dietrich Albert von Thaller, a Social Democrat and former FAUST sympathizer. He is said to be extremely charismatic but also tends to be eccentric and arrogant sometimes. In his speech he promised to focus on modernizing the country in all aspects and to fight poverty.

Trauerstein sentenced to 3 years of prison

Bruderkrieg, Narikaton, the re-opened Trauerstein case has lead to a conclusion. The government in unison with the supreme court decided to sentence Trauerstein to three years of prison but decreasing it to one because of the time she had to endure in deltarian detention without a trial.
