Volkspartij/Volkspartei reforms under new name, alongside considerable Darnussian dominance
After a press conference in Dallorstadt, the Volkspartei reemerged in national politics with a new name under a significant Darnussian dominance, as well as shifting it's focus to democratic socialism.

Upon the conclusion of a press conference in Dallorstadt, in Kozaria, the Volkspartei announced that it would be reentering national politics for the first time in nearly a century. But the reformation was not without significant, and outright historic changes for the party. Reforming under the leadership of Theodor Köhl, an ethnic Darnussian, the party now has considerable Darnussian dominance behind it. Alongside adopting a new name, it being the Progressiv Arbeiterpartei, or PAP, which Köhl stated would be it's sole, monolingual name, the PAP shifted it's former platform considerably.

Now now longer being supportive of a monarchy, the PAP ardently supports a republic, under a strong, direct democracy—First showing it's commitment to such principles by throwing their support behind the Burgerlijke Democratische Unie's bill establishing a confederated state of both Narikaton and Darnussia. "Our two regions, as well as our people, have been inseparable—But there has always been dominance by one over the other, under the wretched Thaller family, as well as various other countless authoritarian governments," Köhl stated to journalists. "Well to that I say no more. It is time for true change in our two regions. A confederated state is true progress—One towards an equal and safe democracy, with directness at it's core."

With elections having been called not long after it's formation, the PAP was surprisingly able to gain a considerable amount of seats within the Bundestag, and announced that it would begin the steps at forming an opposition coalition of mostly left-wing parties, due to a fairly disorganized opposition presence at the current moment.

State Chancellor calls Narikaton and Darnussia's President

5th March 4639 - The recently founded Confederal People's Party has begun its electoral campaign today, emphasising the importance
of a conservative vision in the new Confederal nation. In a speech at the party's first annual conference, Leader Albrecht Blanke
emphasised the importance of conservative values as a curb to the, "radical and extremist dogma of the left", as well as a means to
drive the pacifistic Civic Democrats towards taking decisive social and economic action.

The SVP/CVP, founded just under a year ago, has so far gained increased traction from the right as the new political landscape continues
to form. The collapse of the Nationalist Party's domination over Narik politics, and the establishment of a Confederal Republic have been
seen by many as a fresh start for a nation long plagued by chaotic and dictatorial regimes. In this growing climate of opportunity
however, extremism always lurks behind the corner; the success of the communist bloc demonstrating this all to well.

Hence it does not come as much of a surprise that Blanke chose to focus his party's electoral program on shoring up Darnussian
traditions and defending the heritage of the nation. With growing leftist strength facing an "easily manipulated" Hosian Democratic CDU,
the necessity of Conservative pragmatism in any new government is all to obvious. Blanke sees his party as the strength the Democrats
lack, willing to go the extra mile to ensure the Confederation remains a political reformation rather than a revolution.

Blanke also focused on the necessity of free market policy to ensure economic growth and stability in the coming decade. With current
reports indicating a growth in pseudo-socialist thinking within the CDU, calls from the SVP/CVP for more moderation should come as
a reassurance to businesses concerned with the growing socialist fervour gripping the current Congress. With economics set to become
an important stepping stone in the formalisation of the Confederal relationship, the People's Party sees that it may have a role to play
in shaping the future Confederate economy well into the 40s.

Doressa: The newly inaugurated government, a coalition between the left leaning PAP and Hosian Democratic BDU parties, has announced their first major government sponsored bill. The new bill called the "New Education Act" or NEA focusses on drastically reforming several major parts of the educational system. Abolishing public higher education in favour of a private model while replacing the loan based tuition system with free government tuition support for lower income families and individuals allowing these families to also send their children to higher educational schools if they want to. The new reforms would also abolish the right for people to home school their children with Chancellor and BDU party leader Aiden Lagerveld stating that:

home schooling has the potential of keeping children behind in their overall education and putting them at a disadvantage in comparison to children that have received their education outdoors. This is why we believe that in order for every child to receive equall opportunities within our system home schooling should, finally, be ended

The government has colaborated with the local Narik and Darnussian government's (largely influenced by the BDU itself) in drafting the bill, making sure both governments were in full agreement before officially putting it up for debate.
The coalition partners of the PAP and BDU are still discussing the final details of the bill and it is expected to be put to a vote late this month.

Moet: The Darnussian real estate developer "Umbracht Development Corp (UDC)" has, in a recent press conference, stated that it will expand its operations into the Republic of Narikaton, part of the Confederacy of Narikaton and Darnussia. Following the historic declaration of union and the two countries finally, after decades, unified under equall rights and responsibilities the UDC, formerly only operating in the major cities of Darnussia, announced it would expand operations into Narikaton. The company is mostly known for its work on the several larger then usual real estate properties in the administrative capital of Doressa. These properties are bigger then most in the Darnussian capital as Doressa is still a "developing" city/ The UDC is not a massive company yet with a estimated amount of 4 billion LOD on the bank as of right now and only around 200 people employed there.

By expanding operations into Narikaton the company hopes to further their goals in becoming a big player in real estate in not only the Confederacy but Artania as a whole. The company has already gained the green light from Narik authorities to start its branch in the Republic of Narikaton and the company has proceeded to open its first office in the new Narik capital of Moet. CEO of the UDC, Erich Luder, said the following on the new expansion:

It is with utmost pride, confidence and new energy that i announce the UDC expansion into the other half of the confederacy. We are excited to provide the Narik people with top of the line affordable real estate development that will house bussinesses, form the skyline of the many Narik city's and house thousands of Narik citizens in affordable homes. We stand here at a new chapter of our company's history and we are ready to show the Narik people our great strengths and vision

According to insiders the UDC is currently in talks with the local government of Moet to arrange their first project, the renovation of the local municipality office building.

Doressa: Chancellor Aiden Lagerveld today visited a childrens hospital in the administrative capital of Doressa accompanied by a class of children from the local school (see picture above). The Chancellor visited the "Doressa Youth Health Facility" early in the morning, talking to young patients affected by the current non government healthcare system. Lagerveld talked to low income parents as well who are heavily affected by the current system with massive healthcare bills ruining entire families and causing countless of them to be in serious debt due to health costs.

In a new set of reforms proposed by the Chancellor's BDU party the healthcare laws will be slightly adjusted to include government support for low income families. By proposing and hopefully passing this bill the Chancellor and his party hope to aid the lower classes of society in paying for their healthcare costs without ending up in serious debt. During a moment with the press in the middle of the day the chancellor stated that

We must aid the lower classes in our society wherever we can while also protecting the good quality healthcare already present. By allowing the private healthcare system to remain but aiding those families for which the costs of this healthcare can be devastating we not only preserve the good quality of our system but also ensure that no family should get into trouble for receiving healthcare.

The Chancellor is currently negotiating with party's to get the bill passed but with coalition partner PAP oppossed to the bill and other left leaning parties likely voting against as well the future for the plan looks grim.

Haldor: Confederate president Alexander Aalbrecht visited the Artanian nation of Dorvik last week. Dorvik and Narikaton and Darnussia have been strong allies for quite some time, with Dorvik aiding the country into rebuilding itself and the two working closely together on many issues. As Narikaton and Darnussia enters a new age of freedom, democracy and renewed committment to the international community the president of the new Confederacy, Alexander Aalbrecht, visited the staunch regional ally to discuss increased cooperation but, above all, discuss the reintroduction of a new Artanian Union like organization. The BDU government with Chancellor Lagerveld at the helm has made their intentions regarding regional intergration clear as they believe a renewed AU could grealty benefit the Narik and Darnussian economies.

After landing on the international airport of Haldor president Aalbrecht was greeted by Dorvish State Chancellor Florian Regismund von Rohr-Mauss and together they stepped into the car of the chancellor's convoy, heading to his office in downtown Haldor. The two discussed renewed committments to each others nations and attended a press conference in which the president stated that he was "delighted to be here in the name of the Narik-Darnussian government"

Afterwards the two talked privately for 2 hours. During this private meeting the two discussed the reintroduction of a new AU as Narikaton and Darnussia has wanted for some time now. In a press release published after the talks the two statesman presented their "vision" for a new AU. According to the statement the new organization should be called the "Artanian League". In contrast to the old AU this league should exercise "a minimum amount of control over its member states". The Artanian League (AL for short) will at the beginning simply be a organization to promote trade and cooperation amongst its member states. Its leadership, which will be called The Council, will consist of all the foreign ministers or Heads of State of the member states and can decide organizational policy and budgetary alocation when applicable.

According to the released document the Narik-Darnussian and Dorvish governments are currently hard at work to "realize a long standing dream" and will present the formal organization within the coming months. The two also discussed the possibility of Narikaton and Darnussia purchasing a additional 50 Leopard-2A7 tanks and possibly getting Dorvish help in modernizing the current fleet of Leopard tanks. No further details on this deal have been released as of yet however.

Disagreements over various policy show concern for coalition government
Disagreeing over mostly military reforms, alongside some small social reforms, the recent division shows chance of becoming a deep divide within the ruling government.

First starting last year over legislation proposed by the Communist Workers' Party containing a slew of radical reforms, the most controversial of which being devolving the structure of the national armed forces to one of a strictly voluntary role, sought great backlash from more right-wing lawmakers—Prompting the Darnussian Progressive Labor Party to propose a much more watered down set of reforms. Passed by a stable majority, with yes votes even coming from the CWP themselves, it signaled the initial signs of disagreements within the ruling coalition.

A divide then became more apparent to fellow political analysts, alongside fellow lawmakers within the Confederate Congress, when the two parties were reportedly bickering over the matter of social reforms. The PAP, a staunchly democratic socialist party, pushed for further reforms in regards to healthcare, namely the reestablishment of a dedicated public health system, subsidized by the government. Their fellow coalition partner, the BDU, doubled down, stating that their reforms were largely progressive, and much needed within society. Regardless of their defense the bill in question, the Social Reforms of the State Act of 4641 was defeated in the Confederate Congress, 242-193.

Immediately afterward, the BDU voiced their sharp displeasure over the PAP's decision, with the party's Congressional leader, Alexander Pach stating that they were "...disgusted by the comments made towards us by our coalition partner," And likely shared a similar sentiment by parties that also voted against their legislation, remarking again in regards to the PAP's decision by voicing their "...deepest disagreement with the attitude and comments of the PAP." Such sharp disagreements over the past year have left many deputies anxious, with rumors of a split come next year's elections in June all the more likely. A member of the Confederate Congress who reached out to Das Volkszeitung under anonymity stated "With these two duking it out, belittling each other through gritted teeth, a collapse of trust with them is near inevitable. You might as well start expecting the PAP to form a left-wing coalition if they lose the June elections—I personally think it's guaranteed."

Moet: The overall economy of the Confederation has stabilized over recent months. Before the declaration of the confederacy the economy of the unified Narik Darnussian state was struggling. 8 years ago the GDP growth of the nation stood at a horrible -2.5% and it was going down even further by the year. Unemployment stood at 12% and the debt of the country was increasing. This was all caused by a lack of reform for decades combined with a relatively low focus on the economy and high focus on military by previous authoritarian regimes.

The new democratic confederate government does seem to have turned the tide however. With renewed investment by private companies into the economies of both Narikaton and Darnussia and new government reform in the Transportation and Healthcare sector economic growth seems to slowly return to the Artanian nation. Last month the GDP growth was at -0.50%. Still in the negative numbers but significantly better then 8 years ago. Unemployment has also dropped from 12 to 9%. Many contribute the new system of government to this renewed economic activity. The new system in which Narikaton is its own sovereign state as well as Darnussia but functioning under a confederal union does seem to be beneficial for both nations. Both the Narik and Darnussian government can now target sectors vital for their own personal economies, increasing local economic growth and development which in turn increases confederal economic figures as well. The reforms in healthcare and transportation on the confederal level are also contributing to "better quality of living" for citizens of the confederacy which allows them to work more and be happier while the reforms also managed to safe around 1 billion LOD in costs overall, allowing the confederal government to reserve this money for future programs.

As elections are underway many expect the government to not announce any major stimulus program to drag the economy out of the negative numbers but many within economic circles expect the economy to recover by itself and the next government likely launching programs to accelerate this process.
