Neues Dundorf: FDGB holds leadership elections, party names new Generalsekretär and Stellvertretender GeneralsekretärParty representatives from the Zentralkomitee of the FDGB have held their first election for new leaders. Lower positions that were previously nominated as cabinet picks, still hold their offices. The new Generalsekretär, Eike Schäfer, surprised the party, as he represented a newly formed faction of the party, the Metzist Communists, who advocate for full integration of Metz's works and the abolishment of the bourgeois state. Previously, syndicalists had held an extremely large majority, with over 70% of representatives belonging to said faction. The election of Schäfer marks a significant divergence in FDGB ideology. Instead of promoting power to collectivized unions, the party is likely to shift towards communism—and may interact well with the SED.
Genosse Eike addresses the Zentralcomitee upon his victory in the elections. In his victory address to the FDGB, he shocked the crowd when he began to critique the shortcomings of policy integration and overall failure for genuine promotion of an "Arbeiter und Bauernstaat"—Worker and peasant state. He encouraged his comrades in the Metzist faction to vote for the liquidation of the syndicalist faction and subsequently the anarcho-syndicalists. He argued that the syndicalists had pushed a hardline agenda, but did not fully adhere to Metz's works. "They'd rather read the first few chapters, and rip out the rest!" Schäfer exclaimed. The crowd quickly descended into shouting and bickering. After settling down the crowd, Schäfer spoke at length about the future of the FDGB. Neues Dundorf was able to receive a transcript of the policy changes to come.
"FIrst and foremost, with my ascension to Generalsekretär, and after such a radical ideological change has swept through the party, it shall no longer be known as the 'Freier Dundorfischer Gewerkschaftsbund'. A more fitting name, to fit our ideology, is the 'Volks Kommunistische Partei von Dundorf'—People's Communist Party of Dundorf. Secondly, I highly encourage my comrades in the Metzist faction to call to vote the dissolution of both syndicalist factions. You may bicker and protest, but it is you who haven't fulfilled the goals of Metz! How are we to create the workers state if you give up after halfway through?! Thirdly, we are to obviously shift party agenda away from syndicalism and into communism. Full abolishment of the bourgeois state. We will certainly become more active in proposing legislature to the Bundestag, despite risking it being knocked down by the capitalist opposition parties. However, if we are to win in the elections, the beginning of adoption to full communism will occur, starting with—and yes, this may be controversial to the capitalists watching at home, the liquidation of private property from corporations, and seizing the means of production. Let us be quick and expedient in changing our platform, as since the snap elections, we have only two years to drum up support amongst the masses.
And to you, the people of Dundorf, and all of Terra, who may be watching: Workers of the world, unite! Long live Metz!"
Schäfer then raised his left hand and balled it into a fist, with his speech being met with uproarious applause by what seems to be the new majority faction of the FDGB.
The newly elected Stellvertretender Generalsekretär—Deputy General Secretary, surprisingly was none other than Thorben Schwenke. After losing 16 seats in the snap elections of 4309, Schwenke became skeptical in the willingness of the FDGB to promote syndicalism and commit to passing legislature representing said policies. He then decided to meet with the future Generalsekretär and secretly join the Metzists. After accepting the nomination, his victory speech spoke at mostly the same volumes as Schäfer. But he spoke that he hoped to keep two policies the same in the newly formed VKPD. The continuation of secularism, with an ultimate goal of establishing state atheism for the Party, and all governmental levels, and the invigoration of Dundorf's army in both offensive and defensive combat. He also spoke of wishing to pass border regulations as well, establishing armed Grenztruppen to patrol the borders.
The "Most dramatic picture of the evening", a name quickly given by journalists. Herr Schwenke intimidatingly stares directly at a journalist's camera.Shortly after both victory speeches were heard, an impromptu Party Congress was called, with ultimately two options being given to the syndicalists. They could either join the newly formed VKPD, as now at this point they were outcasts in their own building, or have their factions liquidated and more communists fill the ranks. Over an estimated 80% of anarcho-syndicalists and syndicalists combined voted for membership with the communists. The remaining 5% were absorbed by the totalist wing. The socialist and social democratic wings were dissolved by Schäfer, and the totalists also absorbed the radical socialist faction, raising their size to an estimated 16%. The communists now have overwhelming majority in the new party, at approximately 86%. As anxiously as Neues Dundorf wished to interview the two men, the Party Congress was concluded, and were unable to reach them for comment.
