Bundestag pass largest economic reforms in a generation

In the single largest overhaul to the nation's economy in living memory the Bundestag have today voted in favour of several measures created and supported by the DPD and Bundespräsident Jakob Weisel. Having lobbied in support of greater market freedom for much of his time in office, these reforms are being touted as the single greatest legislative achievement of the president's 6 years in office. Major cuts to government spending following the partial or full privatisation of education, health, and infrastructure have helped to fund cuts to income tax, corporate tax and luxury goods tax. The government have also channelled additional funding to the Ministry of Finance, in response to the regulatory cost of the ever-growing cryptocurrency market, and to the Ministry of Defence, ahead of the announcement of an expected defence modernisation project.

President Weisel addressed the media following the passage of the reforms:

Today's victory in the Bundestag represent a major stimulus to industry and private spending - the largest in a generation, perhaps longer. Myself and my colleagues in the DPD have long campaigned for a freer market with less government intervention. These reforms, while significant, are only the first in a series of reforms aimed at making Dundorf a major economic and military power in the region. We have acted on long-overdue calls to reduce government waste by cutting the budget by almost 10%. These cuts have been paid back to the people in the form of tax cuts to all but the highest of income earners. The full or partial privatisation of government assets, including power generators and airports, hospitals, schools, and the defence industry will stimulate investment, create greater market competition, and drive free enterprise and thought.

Voting on the reforms was hard-fought with each measure passing with a slim majority of 27 seats with the support of the DPD and coalition ally the AfD. The DPD, as expected, have already introduced a second round of reforms to the chamber for voting, this time aimed at reducing red-tape on defence industries, cracking down on trade union activity, and reducing the welfare state.

Former President Jakob Weisel retires from political life

Following a tough election loss in August 4327, former president Jakob Weisel has today announced his retirement from the political scene in Dundorf. Herr Weisel lost the 2nd round vote by just over 1.5% with his party suffering the loss of 20 seats in the general election, its largest loss of seats in over 20 years. The loss was unexpected, with the disbanding of the AfD expected to increase the vote of the DPD. Instead, votes fled towards coalition ally the NDVP. Addressing the party faithful from the courtyard of DPD headquarters in Albrunn, Gayern, Herr Weisel had this to say:

Having been granted the opportunity to serve as leader of the DPD these past 12 years, and as President for the past 7 years, has been without a shadow of a doubt the most humbling honour of my long life. Having worked tirelessly on behalf of all Dundorfians to throw off the shackles of socialism and bring our economy back to competitiveness has been one of our great achievements. The ability to cross the divide and unite the right is integral to the future success of our party and of the nation and I would implore all of you before me to unite around new leadership to push this party to even greater heights.

The 125-member DPD national caucus met upstairs shortly following the conclusion of the address to decide who would lead the party moving forward. Herr Weisel's deputy Nadia Daschner nominated, as did former Finance Minister Tristan Weller, and former Foreign Affairs Minister Johann Schneider. Daschner was eliminated in the first round winning only 13 votes. Schneider ultimately prevailed in the run-off against Weller 72-53. In a sign of reconciliation Weller retained the Finance position and Daschner was elevated to Foreign Affairs. Schneider announced his deputy as Frau Ilse Schott, a relative unknown face considered one of the rising stars within party.

Neues Dundorf:Left coalition wins February snap elections, amid historic upset for the right

Zerlin
February 16, 4328
10:30 AM

The votes have been collected, and in a historic upset, the Left coalition (SED, VKPD) has won the snap elections of February, called by the VKPD after the NVP had disbanded itself. Touting it as a major success for the workers of Dundorf, the Left has called it the first step to ushering in a new wave of socialism for Dundorf, and the groundwork for the return of the Dundorfische Demokratische Republik (DDR). Despite being the second smallest party in Dundorfian politics, the VKPD nonetheless made a victory statement, congratulating the SED and wishing for strengthened cooperation between the two, and spoke at length about the capitalist reforms (most notably the privatization reforms put forth by the DPD) as a plague for the working class, as well as the nationalist rhetoric which has caused turmoil in recent years. Ernst Steindorf was hopeful for the future, quoting the election victory as a stepping stone towards liberating the workers of Dundorf and uniting the country under socialism. It is unknown what the future will hold for Dundorf, but with a party very committed to their goals, it seems socialism may finally return to the nation once again. Celebrations were held all across Dundorf by members of the VKPD and SED, with most notable members being high-ranking military officials, as seen in a photo captured by our field reporters.

Der Unabhängigen: DPD hose down speculation of socialist rise

DPD leader, Johann Schneider, having placed 3rd in his first presidential election, fronted the media today to hose down recent speculation of a new socialist wave in Dundorf.

While the recent election result was not the one we had hoped for our party, we do not believe that it represents a new age of Dundorfian politics as those on the left might have you believe. The election of a socialist president in a close-fought second-round was more a rejection of the hard-right than an endorsement of socialism by the citizens of this great nation. President Packer barely scraped past us by some 140,000 votes. Had the first-round result gone the other way I would likely be addressing you as the newly elected president. Alas, that is not the case.

We understand the elation of the left at finally achieving some form of victory after over a decade of losses to the right. Unfortunately for them, their socialist president is a lame-duck, operating without the support of the Bundestag in which the socialist left increased its share of seats by only 17. The right continue to dominate national and regional politics, holding a 323-177 majority in the Bundestag, supermajorities in Gayern and Oderveld, a large majority in Grozvic Muzelbergen, a tied parliament in Zarkitsch and a small minority (48-52) in Kronstein. This leftist rhetoric about a return to the DDR is just hot air.

I and my colleagues will continue the good work of former President Weisel as we further liberalise our economy, spurring increased business and wages growth and more competitive industry. I will be back at the next election to prove that this years election of a socialist is nothing but a blip on the radar.

Neues Dundorf:DAF General staff shows continued support for the VKPD's policies

November 17, 4328
Zerlin, Dundorf
9:30 pm

The VKPD had won the support of the army in 4323, during the buildup to the 4325 elections, and the DAF's support has seemingly still stuck. At a large gathering in Zerlin tonight, the VKPD, having just recently relocated back to the capital after their Sicherheitskräfte detected no break-ins during the period of unrest, held a gala honoring the military of Dundorf. Typical military customs were observed, such as a rifle drill by servicemen, and the military band of the DAF playing traditional Dundorfian marches. Ernst Steindorf was present, conducting a rousing speech and still holding true the party's policy of a strengthened armed forces. He stated that the military is the sworn protector of the working class, and they should be given more power to better serve the proletariat. Chuckling, Steindorf said that once the gala was over, the following day, he'd submit to the Bundestag sweeping military reforms to be voted upon. The continued support of the military to a far-left party and rising dissent towards the opposition is growing concerns for the right, fearing that a military coup could be possible under their support. But respected Armeegeneral Anton Keßler waved away these claims. "We simply wish for the army to be stronger, to better fend off enemies of the workers. In a functioning democracy, we've no need for a coup. The people will eventually decide who wins the election." Neues Dundorf was able to capture numerous photographs of the event, and the amount of military men present clearly shows their dedication to the communists, despite their party holding only 50 seats in the Bundestag.

Neues Dundorf:VKPD holds Deputy General Secretary elections, totalist wing of VKPD splits apart

November 8, 4329
Zerlin, Dundorf
12:30 pm

After meeting in the morning, around 10 am, the VKPD has collected the votes for its Deputy General Secretary elections, the 2nd of such kind, after the VKPD's integration of term limits for its highest offices by Thorben Schwenke in 4325. The winner, Albrecht Schultze, is considerably younger than his predecessor, Jürgen Kirschner, at 43 years old. In his victory speech he reaffirmed the commitment to making the VKPD platform more popular amongst the youth of the nation, and encouraged stronger cooperation with the SED yet again. Schultze then formally endorsed the SED's candidate for Bundespräsident (whom also happens to be currently the aforementioned office), Wilhelm Packer. Generalsekretär Steindorf seconded the motion, stating that the VKPD would endorse them in the 4331 elections in both rounds. With the arrival of a new Deputy General Secretary, the minority party of the VKPD, the totalists, after achieving years of stagnation, split apart, between Leonidists and the last remaining members of said totalists. The leader of the Leonidists, interestingly, happens to be a Dundorf-born, first generation Trigunian immigrant, by the name of Andrei Viktorov. Addressing his comrades, he championed Leonidism as the effective way of achieving Metzism within Dundorfian politics. He impressed the delegation with his fluent Dundorfian, as well as a brief, heartfelt shoutout to his parents, in his native Trigunian.

Völkischer Beobachter: Former Bündespräsident Jürgen Schneider Retires, NDVP announces plans for future of Dundorf.

On 15 August 4330, the forner Bündespräsident Jürgen Schneider retires, citing old age and health problems as the driving factor. He is 72 years old and has served in the NDVP leadership for more than 3 decades. In the NDVP's main hall this Monday morning, Herr Schneider remarked:

Leading the NDVP since its founding in August 4300, and merger, in 4319 with the NPD, I have seen this party grow exponentially from the first 20 seats in the Bundestag, and now holding the majority in the Bundestag. I am indeed very thankful for the opportunity to lead this brilliant party, and hope for the best for the future of the NDVP and Dundorf. Our voters have voted repeatedly against the Leftists, showing their desperation in a free and democratic Dundorf. We as a party cannot let the everyday Dundorfian down. Let us all restore Dundorf to the original glory, and fulfill the Dundorfians' wishes against the rise of Communism. Die neue Volkspartei, für die Zukunft auf Dundorf!

With that Jürgen Schneider will now be handing the torch to Jörg Hoffmann, a former CEO of national flag carrier Dundorflug. He hails from Holzspinstadt in Zarkitsch, and in his opening speech as NDVP Bündespräsident candidate wanted to make Dundorf a 'prosperous and safe country to reside in'.

With the 30th year anniversary of the NDVP fast approaching, Erik Schneider, the NDVP's Party Spokesman and brother of Jürgen, rolled out plans for the future of Dundorf in the NDVP gala in NDVP's headquarters in Zerlin.

Dundorf needs to be safe for everyone. Every Dundorfian deserves the right to express themselves freely. The NDVP seeks to increase security in Dundorf. The police and military will be granted additional rights to keep Dundorf safe and secure. But it is not just physical threats that are at risk. Migration and refugees coming to Dundorf will be cut and we will put the Dundorfian first before helping others in need. Dundorfians can be sure that the tax rates will remain normal, if not lowered, to give the Dundorfian more spending power and improve business in Dundorf. Business will stand to gain in Dundorf, with more opportunities and privatisation of companies. Dundorf would like to remodel itself as a business friendly country, without compromising on workers job security, and will do anything it can to make sure the Dundorfian worker can hold on to his job.

The NDVP will also be setting up regional party headquarters in Bundestaats Grozvic Muzelbergen and Gayern to meet the increasing support for the NDVP in these places.

Völkischer Beobachter: Armed break-in by Ahmadis in Holzspinstadt reported, shots heard.

2 Ahmadi brothers, believed to be illegal immigrants to Dundorf, had broken into a Dundorfian family's residence in the rich Kreuzlichtenberg district of Holzspinstadt. Armed with handguns and wearing balaclavas, the men demanded valuables and their car at around 10pm last night. The Schenker family, who both work in the NDVP regional office in Holzspinstadt, say that the brothers spoke poor Dundorfian and were shouting profanities and cursing the NDVP. Herr Schenker had reason to be scared for their lives, the men threatened to bring their friends if they did not hand over their valuables. Instead, Herr Schenker pulled a shotgun from under his couch and shot a round at the window next to the burglars, scaring the brothers off. When dialing the police however, the Schenker family complained that the police were disinterested in their case and took 40 mins to arrive. Herr Schenker was in the police station for questioning when the Völkischer Beobachter went to press. The police has filed a wanted persons for the 2 Ahmadi brothers involved in the burglary. They are long bearded, and have distinctive scars on their right cheek, and similar tattoos on their left arm. Both are around 169 cm in height and are muscular. If anyone has seen these men please contact the Dundorfian police at 112 immediately.

Neues Dundorf:Founder of the VKPD, Eike Schäfer, passes away, aged 87

March 15, 4331
Zerlin, Dundorf
8:30 AM

The founder, and leader of the VKPD for over 15 years, Eike Schäfer, has passed away of old age at his retirement home this morning. The announcement came from Marlene Schäfer, the wife of the former Generalsekretär. News then reached the headquarters of the party in Zerlin, and a day of mourning was issued by Ernst Steindorf. A ceremony honoring the life and achievements of Schäfer was conducted outside the building, with party comrades, as well as military officers present, with the company of Anton Keßler. Under the tenure of genosse Schäfer, the party developed its identity, clashed with the opposition parties, and put forth legislature to the Bundestag, with some achievements of the VKPD under his time in office being the tobacco ban, and legalization of recreational cannabis. Upon his retirement, the older ideals of the party still held true, but a large number of youth flooded into the organization. His official successor, Ernst Steindorf, made the party more popular amongst the aforementioned younger organizations. Schäfer's funeral is set to be conducted in the coming days, and his family stated that he will be interred in his home town of Großenborn, in southern Dundorf.

Massive amount of students protest at DPD's headquarters and Bundestag, demand an end to privatization in all aspects of education

June 27, 4332
Zerlin, Dundorf
2:45 PM

Image
A large amount of the party's Sicherheitskräfte, unload from what seems to be a truck from a military surplus, to defend the students from hostilities during the protests.

Zerlin and Gayern were alight in protest this morning, with thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of students, both from the youngest levels of education to the eldest. Many protested against the privatization reforms executed by right-wing parties in regards to higher education over the years. Seeing as though the Bundestag passed the Right to Assemble in Public Bill not too long ago, the rights of an estimated 200,000 disgruntled youth were not trampled. When interviewed, it seemed a significant majority, perhaps even all of the students, were members of both youth organizations of the VKPD. The leader of the Verband der Studentenkommunisten (Association of Student Communists, the VKPD's senior youth organization), Peter Hoffmann, aged 22, the youngest person to hold an office in the party, graciously approached Neues Dundorf during the protests at the DPD's headquarters, in Gayern for an impromptu interview, and gave fiery remarks, showing that the youth of the VKPD are just as fierce and ready to defend their ideology as the elders of the party do. Neues Dundorf was also quick to notice that at both events, the VKPD's Sicherheitskräfte were present, staying vigilant for any signs of hostility.

Image
Candid photograph of the youthful activist Peter Hoffmann, at a party function last year.

What made you organize the youth groups of the party and set out on these massive protests?

Hoffmann: "It's just unacceptable. The privatization 'reforms' put forth by the capitalists and right-wingers of our country have made it harder for students to pursue the education of their choice. Sure, they've put in regulation so that their private schools match the national curriculum and private higher education is made sure to meet national standards, but tuition has been crippling for student workers like us, as well as those who live in poverty."

Are there any other youth groups present here?

Hoffmann: "The Liga der Jungen Kommunisten is protesting in Zerlin, at the Bundestag. Since the VKPD adapted more policies to reach out to kids even younger than me, it's estimated that there's probably 400,000 of them out there. So, we've got around 600,000 students protesting today."

What action do you wish to be taken from the politicians of Dundorf on this issue?

Hoffmann: "Stop thinking about how they can make profit off of how hard we work to pursue our desired jobs. There should be no tuition, and no private schools! Socialist principle has been executed with much success in Dundorf for decades. It's only when these parties started introducing their free market ideas that we've begun to see a large amount of students give up, leaving them unemployed."

Does the VKPD plan to introduce legislation on this matter?

Hoffmann: "I'm not sure on that. However, we are a party of the people. General Secretary Steindorf will certainly join our cause, so it's very likely that legislation will be passed to the Bundestag. We just hope that the bourgeois across the street finally cave in and realize that education is a right, rather than a billfold to shove into their greedy pockets."

We notice that the ShK is here. Did you request for them to be sent here?

Hoffmann: "I didn't request them, they follow the party at any gathering or event, be it protest or an official function. And seeing as though I'm an elected official for the party, my safety must be guaranteed, and the left have been subject to some harsh attacks over the years, and heated tensions, ever since the protests a few years ago."

Thank you for the interview, Peter. We hope the students of Dundorf can finally be free from economic struggle and be able to pursue their careers. Good luck, genosse!

Hoffmann: "Thank you. Was a pleasure to speak with a media outlet who'd fully support our cause, rather than turn a blind eye. You hear that, people? Neues Dundorf stands with us! Long live Metzism! Death to privatization!"
