Dunburg: The SPD government of Dundorf has recently met with officials from the Dorvish government in an attempt to rekindle the long lost relationship both nations once held. After Dundorf repeatedly fell to communism Dorvik cut most connections to the nation in an attempt to politically isolate the communist influences within Dundorf. While historically both Dundorf and Dorvik were connected through ethnicity this meant that the brotherly nations would not be in contact with eachother for over a century. But now Dundorfian President Per Hagel has visited Dorvik as the first true dundorfian to set foot on dorvish soil in decades. The president met with both State Chancellor Maximilian von Kroeger and President von Rohr-Mauss discussing several topics such as Artanian cooperation, foreign policy, monetary issues and further trade ties between the two nations.
One of the more major topics however was the signing of a major arms deal between the two nations. As Dundorf had recently passed the National Protection Act it has been seeking for partners in supplying military equipment to the newly formed "Bundeswehr". This new Bundeswehr is, according to the passed NPA, much smaller then previous dundorfian army's. It will have a standing army of around 110.000 soldiers, around 200.000 less then the previous people's armies. The new army will also include at least 2 dedicated artillery divisions and several armoured divisions to support infantry divisions in the field. The size of the airforce, named the "Luftwehr" will also be dramatically reduced with the new Luftwehr only likely to possess multirole aircraft and no specialized aircraft whatsoever. With only several attack and transport helicopters staying in service.
To supply the new Budeswehr president Hagel managed to sign a massive arms deal with Dorvik, buying over 300 new Leopard tanks, hundreds of new Armoured Personell carriers and other transport vehicles. The deal will also include the purchase of radio equipment for the ground forces as well as a new standardized rifle and a large quantity of munitions as well as a license to produce munitions for the new weaponry domestically.
While equipment encompasses a large part of the deal Hagel had to ensure that it also included Dorvish advisors to train the new Bundeswehr and aid it in its transition. As there are still elements of the former dictatorial regime within the Armed Forces the Ministry of Defense has stated that it will work with Dorvish advisors and the Bundespolizei to root out any "communist or otherwise harmfull elements from both the officer corps, command staf and soldiery".
The MOD is still looking for a partner in replacing the aging multirole fighter arsenal.
The new deal is expected to be finalized at the end of this month with the first Dorvish advisors arriving in Dundorf in the middle of January.
