GREWA TO GET DRONES

Dunburg, August 13, 4985: After meeting with the Interior Ministry budgeting staff and senior managers of Grenzwact (Grewa), the border guard service of Dundorfisches Reich, Interior Minister Reinhard Kempf made this announcement:

While we have no reason to be particularly concerned with who comes to visit or which of our citizens want to travel or, for that matter, with any noticeable level of smuggling, we do want to keep track of who comes and goes and have the capacity to control it should we need to do so.

Rather than increase the overall size of Grewa dramatically we are going to try something else – watching a good portion of our border with drones.

We have decided to purchase 25 GUF 178 model drones from Grozvic Unbemanntes Fluggerat which is currently providing delivery service to a number of commercial entities as well as our postal service. Five will be operated in each Reichslander.

ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER has learned that, rather than wait for Grozvic Unbemanntes Fluggerat to design an observation only drone or contract with an unproven business, the Grewa recommendation was to use the heavy lift GUF 178 which is perfectly capable of observation work including providing data for mapping and surveys should the need arise.

Karl Rosental criticizes government for not taking security seriously

The DKP President Karl Rosental has openly criticized the government, saying they are not taking security seriously enough. Mr. Rosental stated this in an interview with Das Papier:

Me and the DKP under my leadership have proposed a multitude of bills regarding security and order, and yet the socialist oppose it all, and the DZP can only compromise, but security is not something to be compromising on.
Luckily, we have other partners apart from the government, businesses mostly located in Chontalen have supported the DKP with their partnerships. Hopefully we can use the connections with these to keep safe from the criminal scum, and the bums! Not thanks to the government.

Many businesses have started to campaign for the Dundorfische Kontrollpartei, especially in the security and defence industries. Largest companies to have put the DKP stamp on lately are the Geladen Arms Manufacturing company and Gesperrt home security, both companies are located in Fuchstal, Chontalen and have a large amount of DKP supporters employed in the business, as the industry as a whole would benefit from DKP's success.

REICHSPRASIDENT ADDRESSES TAXES

Dunburg, February 17, 4986: Reichsprasident Heinrich Feiereisen issued the following statement in an interview with ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER:

The Sozialistische Partei (SP) has introduced income tax legislation into the Reichstag. The Income Tax Act of 4968 is what we are currently operating under and from the point of view of Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (DZP) is the single worst piece of legislation of the era. DVLP and DZP had been slowly reducing the confiscatory income tax structure as well as raising the funding for economic programs, the safety net and military defense, The Income Tax Act of 4968 reversed this trend and extended the worst aspects of over taxation to the poorest among us. It was accompanied by unnecessarily high spending levels.

To its credit SP is in the current bill trying to undo the damage done to the poorest among us. Unfortunately it also makes the confiscatory aspects even worse; accordingly DZP will not support it.

We hope the SP will return to the drawing board. DZP would support a bill that only sought to remove the terrible effects on those with least income.

We would also support a bill that would return to the 4963 Income Tax Act level as a step in the right direction.

GOVERNMENT LOANS FOR BUYING OUT 3M PHARMACIES

Dunburg, March 22, 4986: Trade and Industry Minister Bertrand Niedemeier, met with Ministry loan managers, house counsel and several partners of Fendelhorst, Braunschweiger and Dorfmann in the main conference room of the Junker Hotel in downtown Dunburg to consider what if anything could be done for drugstore pharmacists and employees of More Medicaments Manufactures (3M) drugstores operating in Dundordorfisches Reich. Niedemeier issued the following statement afterward:

In a period not so long ago, 3M became a major owner of pharmacies in Dunforfisches Reich. As the company has declined, its usefulness to drugstores has declined as well. Under the peculiar 3M business model, 3M is not only a formerly reliable supplier of prescription drugs but the owner of a large number of drugstores as well.

One situation is where druggists would really like to own the drugstore possibly to buy from Dunlake Drugstore Supplies rather than 3M. If the druggist wants financing for a buyout from 3M, the Ministry of Trade and Industry is prepared to make such a loan if 3M will sell which we expect they will.

If they decline to sell, our discussions today have concluded in many instances the prospective owner can force a sale since our law does not allow 100% ownership by a foreign business. Fendelhorst, Braunschweiger and Dorfmann are prepared to bring suit in any instance where 3M took over an existing business or bought property to use as a drugstore.

In instances where 3M built the drugstore on land which was not commercial property, it is quite likely the 3M operation is legitimate. In those instances if 3M refuses to sell, the Ministry will exercise its power of eminent domain and take the store.

Then there are those instances where the operators want to keep working as part of 3M. At this time there is no plan to disturb such an arrangement but expect those cases will be rather isolated.

ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER asked the Minister if he knew anything about the dispute in Dorvish courts between Aloria and Dorvik, he responded:

We read the same reports you did and know nothing more. Can say if any party to that litigation has any questions for our government, we are prepared to respond to any inquiries. We have received none to date.

FOREIGN OFFICE EMPHASIS

Foreign Ministry, February 15, 4988: At the Junker Hotel in downtown Dunbutrg, Foreign Minister August Steigerwald gave a talk on foreign trade and the economy to the Wednesday Circle, an organization of Dunburg bankers and business and government leaders. Steigerwald indicated after a period of working on trade promotion, the emphasis had shifted:

For the moment, our primary focus is taking steps to insure we have friendly relations with our neighbors in Artania. We have concluded two friendship treaties and hope friendship can be confirmed with others in Artania.

We are thus currently pursuing bilateral contacts although at some point we may investigate whether the World Congress could be of some use in promoting peaceful international relations.

Asked by ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER if he would be a candidate for Reichsprasident in August, the foreign Minister responded:

If Reichsprasident Feiereisen runs for another term I plan to support him. If not, I most likely will run. Frankly, DZP internal polling shows the SP candidate has a good chance at winning but we are hoping for a victory nonetheless.

Rosental: "The Dundorfische 'Zentrums'partei would rather support communists than run themselves"

The DZP is a self-declared centrist party, and the second-largest party in Dundorf. Although they have supported many of DKP's proposals, there are major disagreements with the two, mainly considering justice and surveillance. Now the DZP has announced their co-operation with the socialists. Karl Rosental, president of DKP has called this an act of weakness.

The so called Zentrumspartei is showing weakness, and will rather support the socialists than run themselves. And while they are free to support whoever they want to, this shows that the Zentrumspartei does not care about 'centrism' or non-alignment, and will rather become another socialist party. The DZP as of now is fine, but a Communist leader as the face of Dundorf is unacceptable, and if they truly support that candidacy, I have no idea how I will see the DZP in the future, incase they decide to continue this unholy alliance, I'd like to announce that I, Karl Rosental will be running for Reichspräsident to oppose the red menace! We hope the DZP come to their senses and will stop backing the socialists.

Dunburg, October 17, 4988: Recently reelected Reichsprasident Heinrich Feiereisen, after meeting with Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (DZP) ministers and party leaders, told

I

was very narrowly elected Reichsprasident in a runoff again, this time with support of Dundorfische Kontrollpartei (DKP) in the runoff. Sozialistische Partei (SP) had led substantially in initial balloting.

Suffice it to say no one party can put together a government; any two can. We have three viable parties. And very different. Parties different particularly in our views of whether all, none or some means of production should be nationalized or entirely privately owned; on how much religious freedom should be permitted; and on the degree of civil liberty allowed in the face of demands of law and order.

Which is not to say a government can not be formed. DZP will propose one soon; we expect other parties will as well. DZP primary issue is doing something about income tax rates.

DZP INTRODUCES BILL TO REDUCE TAXES AT LOWEST END OF SCALE

Dunburg, March 22,, 4990: Finance Minister Bertrand Niedemeier, described the income tax bill introduced into the Reichstag to ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER:

Dundorfische Zentrumspartei (DZP) has introduced a revenue neutral income tax rate bill into the Reichstag. We regard the bill as a small first step. We do not believe there are enough members actually voting to pass a reduction of the confiscatory rates at the top of the scale at this time so there is no reform yet on this front.

What the Finance Ministry has discovered is a huge amount of the current revenue comes from the bottom of the scale making reform very difficult.

What this bill does do is raise the minimum level for paying income tax from 100 DUM to 2000 DUM and lower the tax rate on that first bracket from 25% to 10%. We do hope we can muster the votes for that.

Defense Minister Braunschweiger

MILITARY POLICY CHANGES?

Dunburg, September 22, 4991: Defense Minister Martin Braunnschweiger met today with the Grand Commander of the Reichswehr and the National Defense Council for discussion of military policy. ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER has learned there were several topics of discussion.

First, Braunschweiger indicated that the government really wanted the Reichswehr to be an actual defense force and not just a back up to police in controlling the population. Accordingly, an assessment needed to be made of the capability of military personnel, the viability of the organizational structure and the suitability of arms and equipment. Particular matters were the training levels of troops, the additional air assets needed beyond the helicopters constituting the air assets prior to the DVLP regime and the Mig – 29’s which can now be produced and the 30 ground support aircraft purchased abroad as well as whether the brigade structure is actually superior to the divisional structure which preceded it.

Second, Braunschweiger requested an evaluation of whether the blitzkrieg tactical approach was really what was needed for a policy focused on national defense not offensive warfare. The Defense Minister indicated counterattack capacity and mobility could certainly be a valuable part of a national defense approach.

The Defense Minister assured the Grand Commander of the Reichswehr and the National Defense Council that the government knew progress was being made and was not dissatisfied with their efforts.

SP BREAK WITH DZP

Dunburg, February 17, 4992: Reichsprasident Heinrich Feiereisen, after meeting with Dundorfishe Zenstrumspartei (DZP) Reichstag and party leaders, told ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER:

Would say three things about the end of the DZP coalition with Sozialistische Partei (SP).

First, nobody has had a majority in the Reichstag for a very long time and SP has adroitly seized the reins of power and made serious moves toward achieving its domestic agenda. They are to be congratulated on their success.

Second, we do not in any way regret our period in a coalition with SP. Together we have stopped the assault on our civil liberties from the reactionary right and ratified three treaties of friendship with our closest neighbors.

And third, with the assault on our liberty by the wingnuts in abeyance, it is clear DZP and SP have nothing in common domestically and so it is clearly time to go our separate ways.
