ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER

MICANA FALLS

Defence Ministry, Battle Report 11: Defence Minister Kal-Heinrich Kronbach has issued an update on Kirlawa operations:

Nationaler Verteidigungsrat (NVR) has now assigned the area of Kirlawa south of Shobogon and Brase Lake to the Provisional Support Corps (PSC) headquartered in Eshileo for defense and order. The PSC is administering the handling of refuges and prisoners of war as well with 4th and 6th Divisions assigned to it. The emergency medical team for mustard gas is now reporting directly to Kirlawa Defence Force (KDF) Headquarters as the conflict moves north.

KDF’s 3rd Division saw that Nisaria was being evacuated to the north and invested it.

KDF is moving 1st and 2nd Divisions and 5th and 7th Panzer Divisions north toward Micana under heavy air cover expecting serious opposition at some point to oppose the advance. Reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from 7th Panzer have reported serious enemy air cover over Micana.

As it turns out, the enemy has established a battle line south of Micana with a substantial amount of troops and artillery and the flanks refused for some distance. KDF believes the remaining enemy air assets in Uwakah are available unless and until there is an attack on a Uwakah port.

KDF brought 1st Division and 2nd Division into position under cover of night and set up artillery battery emplacements for its towed artillery with the truck mounted multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) positioned to move rapidly forward, fire and fall back. A desultory artillery exchange ensued.

There were essentially four parts of the KDF attack. First, the enemy air assets were engaged so they could not interfere with ground operations. Rather than trying to silence all enemy batteries over time, 1st and 2nd Divisions and 5th Panzer Division concentrated all their towed and MLRS on the salient where the eastern flank is refused silencing artillery in that sector and making it very uncomfortable for infantry there as well. For good measure they were hit by GUF 200 attack UAV’s as well.

Third, 7th Panzer went to the west a fair distance then turned north until almost level with Micana and then pushed east encountering an occasional skirmisher but little other enemy until position between Micana and the enemy fortifications. It then attacked the enemy from the rear as 1st and 2nd Divisions switched their artillery back to them.

Fourth, 5th Panzer assaulted the weakened salient with tanks and Panzer Grenadiers breaking through at some cost but with success. A fair amount of enemy infantry beyond the broken salient decamped for the coast but most of the defenders were overwhelmed and captured.

KDF again noted a few chemical weapons were present but not deployed. 5th Panzer’s assault was the most costly of the war to the Bundesrepublik.

Government to launch international institute program
The Federal Government will propose to Bundestag a new law to introduce the "Internationales Dunburger Institut".

- Chancellor's proposal to introduce national alert system has 'green light' from coalition partners.
- Economy: after years of stagnation due to the Kirlawa conflict, this year's economy sees major gains, trained by agricolture, services and manifacturing.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Culture, in Dunburg.

DUNBURG, ODERVELD - Everyone in this country has learned Dundorfian in the very early stages of our education, for some it was an interesting subject, some others found it 'boring' and another group was indifferent to it. The teaching of Dundorfian language is mandatory, at some degree, in every school level as currently mandated by the Federal School Curriculum, but of course, not everywhere in Terra they learn Dundorfian, only a few countries offer it as a secondary or tertiary language course, but that's it. This was the reason why the Deputy Leader of the DSDP, a coalition government party, decided to propose on behalf of the Government the "Gründungsakt der Internationales Dunburger Institut", a bill that would make come to life the International Dunburg Institute, named after iconic Dundorf's capital, that would promote the study of Dundorfian language and culture across Terra.
If the bill is approved, the Institute would be funded in full by the Education Ministry and it would offer to its working staff the same rights and collective bargaining offered to their colleagues in Dundorf, something cherished by the left-wing parties both in Government and Opposition. The bill also allows the local Governments to fund initiatives of their own, seen as an attempt to reaffirm our country's federal system, and most importantly: the curriculum will be updated every three years by both Ministerial staff and the Faculty Members, in order to limit excessive political influences in a school program. The Foreign Ministry will be in charge of negotiating with other countries the establishment of an Insititue school within their territory, which would be free of charge for the interested parties.

Rikert Siegert Stands Down as Leader

Free Liberal Party leader Rikert Siegert has decided to stand down before the election. He has been leader for 24 years and led the transition from MHP to FLP. Former cabinet minister Rosemarie Kunkel has been made interim leader. At the party’s 5462 conference she will either be confirmed or the membership will vote on the role if any other contenders stand up. However this is unlikely as Kunkel wants to continue with Siegert’s policies and popular Julstoch Minister President Kyler Carl has committed to run for Minister President for another term. There are not many other major politicians as Benedikt Blau previously announced his retirement from politics at the end of the parliamentary term. We talked to Kunkel to get her opinion on the party.

It is a pleasure to take up the role of leader. In the parliamentary term I have pushed for greater devolution of powers which is something that our members feel very strongly about. I want to respect Siegert’s legacy and work with our state parties to help deliver for local communities. The Free Liberal Party increased its vote share last election but I hoe under my leadership we can go further. I intend to run for President in the next election as well so I can get our message out to the public.

ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER

DEFENCE LOOKING FOR NEW DRONE

Defence Ministry, February 22, 5462: The Defence minister, Karl-Heinrich Kronbach, met with the Nationaler Verteidigungsrat (NVR) Chief of Staff and staff from Oberkommando Heer (OKH) and Oberkommando Luftwaffe (OKL) to discuss drones. The Heer currently uses GUF 178 reconnaissance drones and GUF 200 suicide drones.

The thinking in OKH and OKL is that an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)) that could fly to a target, engage it in combat and return to base would be very useful, both to the Heer and the Luftwaffe.

ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER sources in the Defence Ministry have confirmed that the Defence Minister has authorized NVR’s Ableitung II to enter discussions to design such a UAV with Grozvic Unbemanntes Fluggerat (GUF) our long time drone producer, Gebirgsmunition (GBM) our foremost gunnery and munitions supplier and Donnerluft, our combat aircraft manufacturer.

LOURENNE BUYING LEOPARD 2A7’S

Defence Ministry, July 22, 5462: The Defence Minister, Karl-Heinrich Kronbach, has approved the sale of 20 Leopard 2A7 main battle tanks by Fuchstal Eletrisch, one of the Bundesrepublik’s premier arms contractors, to Royaume Uni de Lourenne for a discounted price of 5% off the standard price to be delivered over the next seven months. There is an option for additional purchases.

It is expected the Lourennaias military will see how the Leopard 2A7 compares to its own main battle tank and consider whether use of both in conjunction with each other is likely to be a good thing. Training on its use will be made available with 5th Panzer Division personnel.

The Leopard 2A7 has a twelve cylinder twin turbocharged diesel engine with hydro mechanical controlled reversing and steering, and hydrodynamic braking. It has a maximum speed of 68 kilometers per hour. It has a 122 mm smooth bore gun and two machine guns. It has modular armor and all round rocket propelled grenade launcher protection.

ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER

COUNTERATTACK UPDATE; JUNTA MEMBER KKILLED

NVR, Battle Report 12: ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER sources at the Nationaler Verteidigungsrat (NVR )have learned that Ableitung VII of the NVR in charge of military intelligence has been talking to refuges at our humanitarian relief centers and prisoners at our detention centers as well as officials and ordinary citizens of cities and towns together with Kundrati military and intelligence officers. Aerial photographs were also helpful.

From these sources, Ableitung VII was able to determine the sites where chemical weapon manufacturing was occurring. A special team assembled by the Provisional Support Corps {PSC) including medical personnel trained to deal with mustard gas went to these sites which in point of fact were all in Dundorfische or Kundrati occupied territory.

The PSC team was able to destroy all the production facilities and safely secure the fair amount of mustard gas present. No enemy military forces were still trying to protect those sites.

As the PSC special team approached one site in Dirlana, 4th Division drones detected enemy aerial activity, likely to protect the site. 5 squadrons of HF-16’s armed for aerial combat were dispatched to the area where they engaged the outnumbered and outgunned enemy aircraft which retreated toward the coast after a sharp engagement with casualties.

Ableitung VII operatives monitoring enemy communications heard numerous references to a particular casualty, General Paidi Vincent, the enemy Junta member heading its Air Force. General Vincent seems to have been leading an attempt to intercept the special team when his fighter was blown apart by an air to air missile from a Bundesrepublik HF – 16.

Ableitung VII has concluded from the volume of reports that General Vincent is dead.

ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER

DRONE PROJECT EXPANDED

Defence Ministry, October 22, 5465: ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER sources in the Defence Ministry say the joint venture to produce an additional military unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has had two recent developments.

First, Kundrati Weapons Manufacturers (KWM), one of the foremost military contractors of the Kundrati Union, has joined the project with with Grozvic Unbemanntes Fluggerat (GUF) our long time drone producer, Gebirgsmunition (GBM) our foremost gunnery and munitions supplier and Donnerluft, our combat aircraft manufacturer. KWM will add the experience of many talented weapon design engineers to the undertaking.

Second, the project is now aiming to produce two UAV designs. One will fill the role of a Luftwaffr bomber. The other will be for tactical use by groundforces against ground forces.

Dundorf sees end of stagnant economic period
An official report by the OWIN says Dundorf will enter a period of economic expansion after years in stagnation.
February 5466

in other news:
- 5466 election: right-wing BH keeps Presidency but outgoing center-left cabinet secures majority in Bundestag, more details at www.nordenhausenzeitung.du/politik/bundestagswahl5466
- New, conflicting political dynasty? DSDP and BH parties elect new Leaderships: distant cousins Niklas and Jochen Weidinger elected Leader of their respective parties.
- Students in northern Chontalen plant up to 1000 trees in their city.

NORDENHAUS, DUNLAKE - The Director of the Offenbach Wirtschaftsinstitut Nordenhaus (Luthorian: Offenbach Economical Institute of Nordenhaus), Dr. Alfred Langweiler held yesterday an old-fashioned lecture-style press conference here in Nordenhaus where he reported about some key developments of the Dundorfian economy, such as trade, employment and the strength of the internal economy. Langweiler has first acknowledged that in the previous years there as been a substantial period of stagnation, with weak growth and some minor losses due primarily to the disruptions caused by the Kirlawan conflict, that sees Dundorf involved after an unprovoked attack by the Kirlawan Junta. The war has disrupted consume and production, and caused some minor market confidence loss, which appears to be in track of being recovered by the end of this year, while production in the northern areas, near to the border, has not yet been granted a 'green light' to restart fully. Secondly, employement is the only data that throughout the conflict has resisted to negative influences, averaging 4.2% in a period of 8 years, with highs at 5.5% and lows at 3.9%; the data for this month is set at 4.4% of unemployed persons. The internal economy is trained by services, technology, manifacturing, especially thanks to the car and train industry, agricolture and tourism, the lack of maritime transport is still described as Dundorf's biggest challenge, compensated in part by strong air shipping and a great neighborly relationship with several countries, that make international trade easier. The end of the report describes Dundorf's economic situation, overall, as 'promising' with an expected GDP gain of 2.5% at the end of the year, but Langweiler laid at the end of his lecture some points that in his view may help boosting even more the recovery process: an expansion of the nuclear energy project may help with the lowering of electricity costs for both consumers and companies, strengthening of education policies both for schooling-age students and adults alike, to increase the number of skilled workers, and finally, said the Prof:
[...] explore ways in which the nation can easily access the maritime global routes, to further bring down import and export costs, and connect even more the nation with the rest of the Terra.
