The Middle Homeland Party (MHP) has voted to rename itself into the Free Liberal Party (FLP) at the start of next year at the 5449 party congress. Leader Rikert Siegert has been kept in his role as he led the push to rename to party to reflect its current ideology. Over the last few years the MHP has moderated on social issues and implemented a centrist religious policy. It has also drifted away from nationalist rhetoric and replaced that with a language of freedom. The vote for the name change and to keep Siegert as leader is a sign that general party members are thankful of his leadership. The party is in power with its right-wing allies and the improving election results with the party reaching 100 seats in the last election. Now the party is looking to hold its ground and reenforce its regionalists views which have recently taken a back seat. In the last few years many nationalist members have left the party to join Alliance H which now closer aligns with their views. This has allowed the party to focus on the religious centrist right wing economic niche previously partially filled by the New Liberal Party. We spoke to Siegert after his re-election.

I am thrilled that the membership voted to change our party name. Now we can show the people of Dundorf that this is a party with a new mindset that pushes freedom first. It is also a ringing endorsement in our election results which improved last election as well as the governments policy of right wing economics and more religious freedom. We are also happy that we have worked with the opposition to push forward social rights like abortion to allow more freedom for all. Now I have to focus on the future of this party and I hope we will become a fundamental part of the centrist and right wing coalitions.

MILTARY TRAINING CENTER NO LONGER JOINT WITH DORVIK

Foreign Office, October 22, 5450: Foreign Minister Bruno Stachel issued the following statement:

The training center in southern Dundorf operated for many years by Nationaler Verteidigungsrat (NVR) and the Dorvish High Command will henceforth be entirely controlled by NVR. Notable training courses conducted jointly by Dundorfisce and Dorvish instructors included armor tactics, paratrooper training and non commissioned officer leadership.

After many productive years, Dorvish participation simply lapsed about forty some years ago, and this announcemnt is made to inform the Bundesrepublik that sole operation of the facility has been made official as well as simply being a fact.

TRAVEL TO KIRLAWA RESTRICTED

Foreign Office, October 29 5450: Foreign Minister Bruno Stachel issued the following statement:

In view of the military in Kirlawa taking over its government and the resultant likelihood of instability to follow, some precautionary steps are being taken now by the Bundesrepublik. No travel into Kirlawa from the Bundesrepublik not specifically authorized by the government is permitted until further notice. Dundorfische business travelers and tourists are strongly urged to leave Kirlawa forthwith.

The Foreign Office is reliably informed that our two banks which had invested in the Kirlawan fishing and seafood industry have withdrawn their capital.

All Foreign Office personnel in Kirlawa are being recalled except for a skeleton crew at our Embassy and the Ambassador.

ODERVELD – LEUCHTFEUER asked Stachel if border security was being increased or the military placed on alert, he replied:

Our Ambassador is still in place, the usual level of Bundeszollverwaltung patrolling near checkpoints and by rotary craft and unmanned aerial vehicles remains constant, and no Bundeswehr units have placed on alert other than those on duty to insure we are never entirely unaware.

These are precautions we hope prove unnecessary.

IS KIRLAWA JUNTA HOLDING AMBASSADOR??

Foreign Office, August 15, 5451: Foreign Minister Bruno Stachel issued the following statement:

There do seem to be some refuges from the Kiralawa Junta making it to our borders. They are reporting more have been killed trying to escape. In anticipation of more to follow the Foreign Office and Bundeszollverwaltung are setting up processing centers at border check points to determine if refuges have a place to go or need food and shelter and if they view themselves as temporarily in Dundorf or are hoping to emigrate. Additionally the Foreign Office and Bundeszollverwaltung are securing facilities in nearby villages for temporary housing. Bundeslander and local officials are being enlisted to bring in food, water and medical attention as necessary and to solicit help from civic organizations and churches in this relief effort.

We were fortunate to have started Dundorfische evacuations before the Junta closed the border. In point of fact, all capital investment has been withdrawn as well. Our Ambassador and a reduced staff of 17 remain at our Embassy however. We have not severed relations to date but are recalling the Ambassador and staff and are asking the Junta for them to be permitted to leave. The order closing the border was sufficiently ambiguous that the Foreign Office believes it is quite possible the intent really included the Ambassador.

Accordingly, they are remaining at the Embassy until this is settled. The Foreign Office is talking to the Cabinet about further necessary steps and interaction with the International Community.

MOBILIZATION

Foreign Office, August 5, 5451: Foreign Minister Bruno Stachel issued the following statement:

In view of the Kiralawa Junta refusing the official request of the Bundesrepublik to allow its Ambassador to be recalled and the remaining Embassy staff to come home, the Bundesrepublik is treating the unlawful detention of Foreign Office personnel as an act of war. We are neither declaring war in return nor severing diplomatic relations but suggesting that if the Junta changes its mind it should say so.

In the meantime, the Bundeswehr has mobilized the 1st, 2nd, and 6th Divisions and sent them to the border with Kirlawa as well as the 5th and 7th Panzer Divisions forming a mobile reserve in readiness for any further aberrational actions by the current Kirlawa regime. 10 squadrons of HF – 16’s are also transferred there. The 1st Division’s Air Cavalry Brigade is also in reserve.

Foreign Office, August 22, 5451: Foreign Minister Bruno Stachel issued the following statement:

The Foreign Office officially notified the Kirlawa Junta that the Ambassador and remaining staff are returning to the Bunderepublik by helicopter.

The Air Cavalry Brigade has flown from Oderfeld Bundeslander through Kirlawa’s Merkan Region to its capital and boarded the Dundorfische Ambassador and remaining staff and returned to the Bundesrepubik. Although under orders to only fire if fired upon, the Air Cavalry Brigade in fact fired no shots despite some desultory fire from what looked like police and a few stray infantry detachments. In point of fact, one helicopter was lost because of a fuel line problem and one because it hit a power line. All personnel were rescued’

10 squadrons of HF – 16’s provided air cover to the operation; two armed for ground attack and eight for air to air combat. Several distant aircraft were spotted which likely were warplanes but which did not come close enough to engage.
