Claus Freundel, 86, announces his retirement from the Volksgericht

21 September, 4463

Image
Claus Freundel, the oldest member of the Volkgericht, announced his retirement last week.

After Freundel, the oldest member of the Volksgericht - having served since its creation in 4448 - announced his retirement last week, the 86 year old was flooded with goodwill from all parts of the DDR. Rheingold has announced Peter Weigle, 52, as his nominee for Freundel's replacement on the court, and the Volkskammer is expected to vote on his confirmation within the week. It is very likely that by next week Weigle will be Dundorf's newest Rechtsbeistand.

Orange Revolution in Dundorf

Metzism has fallen in Dundorf with the electoral success of the Hosian based Confessional Historical Union (KHU). Although parties other than the official National Workers Party are banned from competing in legislative elections under one party legislation, independents are allowed to run and supporters of the KHU were able to form common lists of independents and compete against the Workers Party.

Supporters of the KHU wave the party colours in the capital

The KHU have promised new elections under a new plural electoral system and to demoractise Dundorf through a wave of liberal reforms. However, many secular anti-Metzists are sceptical that the KHU, an overtly Hosian party, is the right vehicle to move Dundorf beyond decades of one party rule.

Reichsbund forms out of ashes of shattered Communist paradise
October 4480

Barberg, Kandenburg - The Reich League, as it is named, is a collection of right-wing political parties and organization helmed by wealthy former military officer and industrialist Ferdinand Kohring, a leading figure of the Dundorfian Conservative Party, the formation of the Reich League is one that been harkoned on for many years, many right-wing political parties and organizations have worked to rebuild themselves following the utter collapse of the far-left communist and socialist within Dundorf. Over the years, the Reich League which began its preliminary formation nearly a year earlier in 4479, has developed into an organization bringing together military officers, police officers, business officials, religious leaders and other conservative and center-right political operatives. The Reichs League is formed into the Federal Leadership (Bundesführung) which consists of the President, Vice President and other officers and officials which make up the leadership of the Reich League. The more day-to-day leadership is the Reich League Council (Reichsbundesrat) which makes up the elected and appointed officials over various organizations, political parties and individuals who are members of the "party".

Reichsbund struggles with identity as the right-wing surge in popularity prior to elections
April, 4481

Werner von Meyer, Party Chancellor of the All-Dundorfian People's Front

Barberg, Kandenburg - The Reichsbund was primarily formed by traditional conservatives but following the backlash and a rise in anti-Communist and anti-Socialist tensions within Dundorf have risen. In one of the first free elections since the collapse of the Dundorfian Democratic Republic, the fledgling government has struggled underneath an interim caretaker government while violence has risen to unprecedented levels. The Reichsbund has taken upon itself to form several paramilitary organizations to help instil order and provide a basis for their platform, which is mostly revolving around restoring law and order and pushing a conservative-based agenda. For the first time in centuries the All-Dundorfian People's Front have a place in national politics, many political experts have not seen such a rise in "far-right" politics since the Collapse of the Dundorfian Reich-era which saw the rise of the Dundorfian Reich as a "National Socialist" state under Reinhold Scharff as Reich President and Reich Chancellor and push Artania into a continent wide war. The All-Dundorfian People's Front holds a commanding 43% of the positions within the Reichsbund and is increasing in popularity at the expense of the National Monarchist Movement, which has been supportive of their efforts. National Monarchist, also known as Kaiserist, often align with the National Socialist ideology but in place of the "party" they replace it with the "Kaiser". Rallies have been held by the All-Dundorfian People's Front with ceremonial songs, dances and a sense of nationalism and pride that had been crushed underneath the communist boot. The ADVF has adopted many of the traditions and organizations of the Volksdundorfische Cultural Association, which has been providing funding and training for members of the Reichsbund.

President of the Reichsbund lays out plan for a restored Dundorfian Reich
Late April, 4481

Barberg, Kandeburg - Ferdinand Kohring, the President of the Dundorfian Conservative Party and President of the Reich League was interviewed earlier this evening with Der Globus regarding the status of the Reichsbund and the vision of the Reichsbund for Dundorf. Kohring noted that the rise of the right-wing in Dundorf is a symptom of oppression and brutalization by the government and agencies of the Dundorfian Democratic Republic, he also noted that the left-wing in Dundorf needed to take a good hard look at itself and ensure that the abuses and violence of the DDR never repeat itself. When asked regarding the re-building of Dundorf and the recent collapse of the Dundorfian economy, he noted that the the Reichsbund was eager to compete in the coming federal elections so that they could speak out against the "...rabid Communist and Socialist who are seeking to continue to undermine the economy of success of the Dundorfian people and the Dundorfian state." Kohring stated that the first would be an effective organization of the government and potential coalition against any and all "anti-government" forces, he left that part relatively up in the air. He noted that he wanted to build a new constitution for a new, democratic Dundorfian Reich.

Kohring, a lawyer by trade, stated that with the creation of a new Dundorfian Reich he wanted to establish a policy on staffing a "Reich Constitutional Court" which would be the supreme court of the land and would be responsible for all matters related to the constitution. Noted lawyer and former professional Judge Niklas Wieseltier joined the Dundorfian Conservative Party and currently serves as the Secretary for Justice for the Reich League; he is a driving force in writing a new constitution and wanting to rebuild the Reich Constitutional Court. Kohring also presented options for the restoration of the proper Dundorfian names, including several that have been forced by the Communist and Socialist elements in Dundorf; this is a move that is widely supported by all elements of the Reich League. The outline for the economy is much more clear, the "New Economy Act" which was pushed by the Reich League and works to open the Dundorfian economy up for more foreign investment.

Dundorf is ascendant, that is of certain.

Reichsbund wins large, captures Chancellery and largest party

Dosmund - Ferdinand Kohring, the President of the Dundorfian Conservative Party and the President of the Reich League was elected in the July 10th, 4481 election as the new Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Dundorf. Kohring was surrounded by nearly 52% of the vote in the second round against outgoing Chancellor Tomas Heszler of the KHU. The incoming Chancellor immediately set out to create a coalition with the second largest party, the Confessional History Union, however due the lack of support given to the proposed "Constitution of the Dundorfian Reich" it is unlikely that the coalition will continue for long, with Chancellor Kohring noting that the Reich League is seeking a potential coalition with the National Liberal Party in place of the KHU. Chancellor Kohring stated that the coalition with the KHU will be allowed to pass and in the event that the KHU did not support the new constitution, they would seek other coalition partners.

Currently, government stock exchanges were up on a positive note as the free market-based Reich League promised further "economic openness" and promised that the fist of communism and socialism would be removed. The Ministry of Finance has already announced a preliminary report that small and medium size businesses have begun borrowing and taking loans from banks, with the passage of the New Economy Act by the Reich League which saw private banks be allowed to operate again. Economically Dundorf has a long way to go to recover but underneath the helm of the Reich League and one of their potential coalition partners, the Dundorfian economy might just make a turn around. Investment numbers were already flowing in with foreign investors allowed to re-invest within Dundorf once again following the communist era.

The appointment of former Major General Eckhard Opitz as the incoming Minister of Defense has seen the Dundorfian Armed Forces eager for a new era of unprecedented expansion and growth; soldiers are eager and awaiting the formal approval of the coalition government to begin operations. The Major General has remained tight lipped about his reforms but many are eager to see what will happen when the Major General takes the reins; this is backed up by the Chancellor who is the Commander-in-Chief and supportive of efforts of the Major General in re-building the Dundorfian military prowess that once ruled Artania.

Reichsbund betrayed, Dundorf's future looks dim underneath radical theocratic
March, 4482

Dosmund - In a stunning move of betrayal and backstabbing, the Confessional History Union has turned their back and entered into a midnight deal with the National Liberal Party which uprooted the Reich League from it's position of power within the government. Almost immediately the newly named Dosmund Stock Exchange found itself down nearly 200 points and the economic situation in Dundorf was downgraded by international institutions due to the "...return of a radical political party seeking to upend the stability of Dundorf." Representatives from the Reich League were informed by Chancellor Ferdinand Kohring, the first Reich League Chancellor of the stunning move as an ad hoc "Constitutional Convention" was called by the KHU and attempted to pass off the hard work of the Reich League as their own, not only did they attempt to do that but they called out the Reich League for not being compromising when the party called for an increase in the number of seats in the national legislation. Currently the national legislature has 125 seats, each deputy is responsible for roughly 796,873 Dundorfians which is incredibly absurd and shows little care for the Dundorfian citizens. Reich League and former Minister of the Interior Werner von Meyer noted that the careless shown by this government is incredible. The proposal for 650 would bring each deputy 153,244 Dundorfian citizens, bringing it closer to being able to represent nearly the 100 million Dundorfian citizens living in the country.

Chancellor Kohring decried the tactics used by the KHU and stated that the Dundorfian people had been misled and deceived. "The KHU called themselves the saviors of Dundorf and saviors of democracy yet have done everything to ensure that they remain the theocratic overlords of Dundorf. It is both scary and unprecedented to see a religious party attempt to take one of the most progressive nations and sunder it with their backwards ideology and hateful rhetoric." The Chancellor called on the Dundorfian people to stand up and speak out against the abuses and called for "civil disobedience" where the KHU attempted to subvert civil government for their religious ideology. "We are a nation of democracy and laws, not backwards religious ideology. They, without the knowledge of the Reich League appointed several religious officials to carry out government functions, that is a dangerous road to walk down. It's almost as if the Communist have come back as radical theologist and have wanted to implement their own "Religious Communism" on Dundorf." The Chancellor has been openly critical about the KHU-NLP coalition, especially with the dangerous tax income proposal that is dangerously toeing the line of communism, where those making 60,000 Dundorfian Marks are taxed at nearly 50%. Economist in Dundorf have already called the plan "...religious communism and dangerous."

Armed Forces refuse stand-down and police abuses run rampant
February, 4482

Dosmund - An important piece of legislation on the floor would also allow localities to create their own laws and policies on police search, previously the law was enshrined in the constitution and protected by the constitution, now it has been ripped from the constitution and placed at the whims of local administrators. The Reich League has called for protests against this, the two states controlled by the Reich League have already stated that state law would remain the same. Chancellor Kohring called the move "...dangerous, stupid and undemocratic. So when you speak out against the KHU's autocratic ideology, they will arrest you because local laws say that they can? That is incredible. It as almost as if we have traded the tyranny of communism for the tyranny of "religion". This is a move that we will openly fight against."

In an even more stunning move, the once professional Dundorfian Armed Forces will become a "volunteer force" in "reserve". Chief of Staff of the Supreme Army Command has already stated that the professional army and air force units will not stand down; something that is backed up by Commander-in-Chief Chancellor Ferdinand Kohring, who noted that he would outright refuse such orders. General Field Marshal Eckhard Opitz, the Chief of Staff of the Supreme Army Commander and the one time Minister of Defense, openly stated that he will follow orders of the Commander-in-Chief and the move to "battlefield commissions" is a thing of the past and an means to cripple the Dundorfian Armed Forces even more. Local army and air force commanders have lodged protests with the Reich League and their representatives, this is a dangerous move for Dundorf which is seeking to cast off the domination of the Communist who crippled Dundorf.

In snap elections, Dundorfers endorse conservative government and reject 'Minarchist losers'

June 4492 — The Konservative Partei have claimed a crushing victory in snap national elections, taking a massive 420 seats in the new Bundestag.

The opposition Minarchistische Partei had sought to make the election a referendum on the government's policy agenda, describing the government's tough line on law and order as "authoritarianism" and "dictatorship".

But their strategy backfired, with Dundorfers handing Juliana Klasen's ruling party a clear supermajority in the Bundestag. Benjamin Hickersberger was also comfortably re-elected as Bundespräsident with 82 per cent of the vote.

Observers have credited the result to Klasen's uncompromising approach to governing and campaigning. The charismatic 43-year-old and her firebrand interior minister Helena Schreiber have shepherded through a large range of internal security and border reforms over the past two years, and at a post-election rally Klasen promised to build on that start.

"The people have had their say about the future they want for their country, and they have voted resoundingly and overwhelmingly to advance the conservative agenda and reject the weak, pusillanimous policies of the Minarchist losers," she said.

"Our increased majority gives us an indisputable mandate to continue crushing the criminal elements in society and pursuing the path toward a more productive, more prosperous economy. Our promise to the people of Dundorf is that we will do so without hesitation, fear or compromise."
