Vestnik: Duke of Petrovgrad Dead at 63

Image
Small gathering of mourners outside the Mashkov Family home on an early Petrovgrad morning.

2 June 2960 - Petrovgrad, Yulrath, Trigunia

His Grace Vasya Romanovich Mashkov, 2nd Duke of Petrovgrad, NSZ, TVKS, VP, NTP, BZ has died at his home in Petrovgrad. The Duke was born into the lap of luxury, growing up as his father was Viceroy and brushing elbows with the business and hereditary elite of the nation.

While growing up in Heinrichgrad he attended the prestigious City University of Petrovgrad before he was elected as Boyar Deputy from Petrovgrad, a seat that his name all but guaranteed.

Shortly after the sudden death of his father, Vasya inherited the Duke of Petrovgrad title and was quickly taken by the Young Guard Party for grooming for the Viceroy position.

From point forward, the young Duke was given the all-important Minister of Trade & Industry positions within the Cabinet, which he held for more than a decade. In the uncontested election of 2935, Vasya Mashkov, 2nd Duke of Petrograd ran for and won the Viceroy of HRNH Great Prince Ferdinand I, Steward of the State, and Deputy of the People.

Mashkov would hold the Viceroyship for more than two decades. During his tenure, the nation witnessed absolute stability and unprecedented economic growth. However, the Viceroy did face several problems.

The early 2950s witnessed several high-profile corruption charges within the Young Guards as well as the possibility of war between Badara and Selucia which would threaten Trigunia’s supply of fuel oil. Despite being an advocate for peace, the Duke presented the nation’s ability to use force during the incident.

The Duke refused to run for reelection in the 2956 election, instead, handpicking the long-time Chief Boyar Sergey M. Zhiroff, NTP, MRP for the role and he retired to his home in Petrovgrad.

In early 2960, the long cigarette smoking Duke was diagnosed with lung cancer which eventually took his life on 2 June 2960, a year to the day that his daughter, Lady Hanna Mashkova became Vicereine.

Duke Vasya Mashkov leaves behind his wife Roza, two daughters Hanna and Vera, and five grandchildren.

The Trigunian

Ura! The Patriots are back!

For thirty years Trigunia has been left in darkness. Krauts have ravaged our once great nation, selling off OUR industries and eating bratwurst EVERYWHERE. They have imposed the famous homosexual Luther's religion on us all. Meanwhile our money is laundered to Hulstrian criminals and our people forced to write in the Hulstrian alphabet.

A Typical Lutheran Crucifix

But no more! The Trigunian Patriot Party is back, and its new leader 'Gregor Krylov' has pledged to fight the foreign occupiers:

People of Trigunia, there is an enemy in our midst! The insidious Hulstrian regime has betrayed our people for too long! Now it is time for our nation, the greatest nation on earth, to humiliate these Krauts like they have humiliated us! First we must revoke all their rights in this country, liquidate them and the property they stole from our people! Once this is done, it is time to do to these scum what they have done to us, Lesser Hulstria must be flattened by our tanks and bear bombers! Anything less will not avenge the many insults they have laid upon us!

Vestnik: Vicereine to Maintain Minority Government

Image
Her Grace Vicereine Hanna Mashkova, 1st Duchess of Petrovgrad discussing the election with policy advisors.

5 July 2962 – Heinrichgrad, Chadonia, Trigunia

Her Grace Vicereine Hanna Mashkova, 1st Duchess of Petrovgrad has refused calls for the creation of a new governing Cabinet and has spoken her dedication to the minority Government of the Young Guard Party.

Citing the hostile nature of the two Communist parties and the Deltarian-Nationalists, Duchess Mashkova has refused to seat them in the Cabinet. “These three parties have done nothing but overturn legislation that has governed the Great Princedom for decades. They have proven to be hostile both to the Young Guards as well as the His Royal Northern Highness the Great Prince. I do not feel that it is the role of the Viceroyalty to give power to those who wish to destroy what it is. These parties would undoubtedly end the personal union with Great Prince Ferdinand.”

According to the Vicereine’s office, her refusal to organize a new Government has little to do with politics or an effort toward revenge against the other parties because of their recent victory. Instead, it was stated to have been their utter disregard for the Monarchy as well as their refusal to allow debate on legislation for possible compromise.

The Young Guard Party, soundly defeated by the recent elections, still maintains over a third of the current seats and deserves to be heard over important legislation. However, members of the Party, including the Vicereine herself, are feeling left out in the cold. “The Commies and the Deltars have thrown us aside!” said Pyotr Gagarin, a construction contractor and member of the Young Guards. “I believe in democracy and so I believe in allowing parties to stand and win elections, but I do believe that those in power have an obligation to listen to all the people in the nation. They represent all the nation, not just the people who voted for them.”

There is a real fear in Young Guard camps that the Communists will destroy the prosperous economy of the New Trigunia. Professor of Economics at City University of Petrovgrad, Nadiya Azarov, has stated that the Communists are going to do just that. “If you look at the history of Communism,” Azarov began, “It is inevitable [that the economy will decline]. Communists around the globe are obsessed with the power of the State. Can the State respond quickly the needs of consumers? Can the State not merely make products for consumers but ultimately make products that consumers wish to buy? These questions are all speculation.”

Azarov continued to encourage the current Young Guard Economic Model. “Trigunia’s GDP has risen by over TRA 100 billion in the last five years and consumer confidence is extremely high. New businesses are developing and growing quickly under the current system of zero taxation. Already, the Communists and Deltarian-Nationalists have begun passing legislation for a tax of roughly 25% on corporate profits. For what purpose? The Communists will use these funds to put the corporations out of businesses, all the while, the Deltrian-Nationalists leap for joy under the false idea that this will somehow only effect those companies that originate in Hulstria or have Hulstrian CEOs; which, in truth, account for only 4% of total corporations. In fact, Trigunian corporations and companies, especially in the IT sectors, hold more subsidiaries in Hulstria than do Hulstrian corporations.”

Regardless of these fears, the Communists and Deltarian-Nationalists continue to push their agenda, regarding the Young Guards’ attempts at stability and cooperation as ‘embarrassing’.

Her Grace Vicereine Duchess Mashkova put it best when she stated that “my grandfather [R.D. Mashkov, 1st Duke of Petrovgrad] was the first Viceroy of the New Trigunia; I will not be the last.” It is not surprising that feelings in all Young Guard camps mirrors these thoughts.

The Trigunian

True Trigunians cheated of Victory by Krauts and Commies

Image
An angry delegate addresses a Patriot rally in Rodshyadam

There was fury across the nation as the poll results came in today, with Our great party only garnering 32% of the vote. Exit polls, which also for asked information about nationality, sexual orientation and love of Vodka, suggest that 89% of Heterosexual Rodshya Vodka-drinkers voted Patriot. Since no other people should have the right to vote in this great nation, OUR nation, it appears that the Trigunian Patriots should have a massive majority. As tensions rise in the cities, only time will tell whether true Trigunians will take up the AK-47 and begin reprisals for this disgusting outrage.

Vestnik: Great Northern Fleet Sets Sail in Support of Hulstro-Luthori Alliance

Image
Stock photo of the Great Northern Fleet.

5 July 2962 – Anantonese Sea

As political debate rages at home, the bulk of the Velikiĭ Severnyĭ Flot rendezvoused in an undisclosed location in the Anantonese Ocean before steaming east toward Sekowo. As always, along for ride was the Eastern Expeditionary Command (EEC) of the Morskaya Pekhota.

As the time expires on the ultimatum given the Sekowon government, the naval blockade is set to begin operations. This will be the first test for the Trigunian armed forces outside of Keris in nearly two centuries and officials from the Great Northern Fleet have assured the nation that it is prepared for anything that may be thrown in its direction.

Captain-Lieutenant Vladimir Vygotsky, official spokesman for the Admiralty, made the Fleet’s position clear.

The Fleet has prepared long and hard for this mission. This is its role. In keeping the sea lanes open to the shipping of Trigunian companies, corporations and citizens it has fought pirates, rescued those in distress and run innumerable drills and exercises. If the Fleet is to be engaged in any overt military action it will be ready and it is prepared.

Meanwhile, deep in the hull of the amphibious assualt ships, members of the EEC were just as confident if not as eloquent. “If we land, whether a beach or a ship, we’re taking them down,” Corporal Yuri Dolzhikov exclaimed excitedly as his comrades-in-arms nodded their heads in agreement. “I hope we see some shooting,” spoke another, “The drills and exercises are all fun and games, but we want to show the world what we can do. We know we’re gonna kick ass and take names.”

Time will only tell if the Siniĭ Sidog (Blue Seadogs) and their naval brethren will be needed in Sekowo but one thing remains for certain, both branches are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure the protection of the nation and integrity of its allies.

Gregor Krylov declares his hostility to the Hunnic-Imperialist War

Image
Gregor Krylov with the Sekowan ambassador

The Patriot leader has today given a speech denouncing in the strongest terms the jerry war against the Sekowan people, and also drawing parallels between Kraut oppression in Dovani and Trigunia.

My fellow Trigunians! It appears that the Hulstrians have yet another nation in their sights, one as innocent and peaceloving as mother Deltaria. The Sekowans merely wished to build a missile system to save themselves from the same fate as Trigunia, yet the Krauts (including our own colonial government) chose to blockade them for this basic act of patriotism! Out of desperation the Sekowans have tried to fight back, but they are so outnumbered by this most evil of empires that they simply cannot win.

It is our party's intention to end all Trigunian support of the blockade, and if we can to actively intervene to stop the repression. Our eventual victory in Trigunia depends on the outcome of this war. If we cannot take a stand with others who hope to lift the Hunnic yoke, what hope do we ever have of saving our nation from Bratwurstisation? None is the answer to that question, and so we have begun intensive training for our most dedicated party activists. If we cannot force our state to go to war on the Sekowan side, true Patriots can at least fight against evil. To do anything less would betray our core values.

Vestnik: Vicereine Mashkova Authorizes Use of Trigunian Military in Sekowan 'Police Action'

Image
Vicereine Mashkova during her televised address to the nation.

1 July 2964 – Heinrichgrad, Chadonia, Trigunia

Her Grace Hanna Vasyalevna Mashkova, 1st Duchess of Petrovgrad and Vicereine of Trigunia called a press conference outside his official residence Igl Krest, Heinrichgrad, Chadonia to discuss recent developments regarding the Eternal Harmony and Empire Magnificent of Sekowo.

“In the last few months, tensions have increased between a coalition of members including Greater Hulstria, the Holy Luthori Empire, Dorvik, Kirlawa, Rutania, Zardugal and our own Great Princedom regarding offenses and threats posed by the nation of Sekowo.

“These offenses and threats range from the development of offensive missile capabilities and the state-sponsored murder of foreign civilians to internal bouts of genocide and violence. Likewise, the threats of violence have made the shipping lanes of the Anantonese Ocean between the continents of Keris and Dovani perilious to travel. These lanes are vital to the protection of our nation and to the maintenance of our way of life and it behooves us as an island nation to sustain our independence through the protection of the seas for both ourselves and the world.

“The other members of the Coalition against Sekowo are important trading partners and any long-term conflicts involving them will harm our economic and political independence.

“Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I, as Executive and Commander-in-Chief of Trigunia, have ordered our Great Northern Fleet and the bulk of our Naval Infantry to cooperate both logistically and militarily with the Coalition members against the armed forces of Sekowo.

“We have been invited to use our forces on par with those of Great Hulstria and they will be placed nominally under their command but we will maintain our own commanders and command structure.

“Because of this invitation, our military presence is a police action and not a formal declaration of war in which our forces are to possess and maintain order if warfare does indeed begin. However, our military forces may be involved in offensive operations and it is expected that casualties may be suffered.

“Given that our involvement is an invitation and a police action, this is not a formal declaration of war and therefore our engaged military forces are subject to review and potential recall no later than one year from this date.

“Although our nation is not at war, I am still assigning a state of national emergency and encourage the individual Oblasts to do so as well. This state of emergency is only temporary and no attempts at martial law or military rule are ordered nor are expected to be given.

“However, due to the military nature of this state of emergency, the Sily samooborony Trigunskoye, our reserve Self-Defense Forces, will be called up within hours to counter any attack that Sekowo may aim toward us. I do wish to inform all Trigunians that these forces will not be sent to foreign shores and will remain within the borders of our great nation as they are for our protection and are not offensive forces.

“Finally, I wish to call on all true Trigunians, regardless of political party or opinion, to support the military and their families at this time. These men and women are selflessly defending our freedoms and interests from those who wish to do us and our neighbors harm. They are truly the heroes of our nation.

“May God bless our soldiers and sailors and their families in these difficult times. Goodnight, and may God bless you and keep you safe.”

Zhurnal: Young Guards Celebrate at Commemoration Ball

Image
Her Grace Vicereine Hanna Mashkova, 1st Duchess of Petrovgrad on the red carpet.

2 August 2968 - Heinrichgrad, Chadonia, Trigunia

Her Grace Hanna Mashkova, Duchess of Petrovgrad is to begin her third term as Vicereine of Trigunia and also as head of the majority party in the Boyar Duma. The Young Guards have defied the odds and maintained themselves as the largest party in the Boyar Duma for the second election in the row, and the sixteenth overall since 2923.

To coincide with the electoral victory of the Young Guards, the Milostivyĭ i Samyh Pochetnyh Verhnyeĭ Palaty Perov held the 300-year commemoration of the Bear’s Den in Heinrichgrad. And Duchess Mashkova was all smiles as she walked the red carpet to the main entrance of the mighty palace’s East Hall, dodging the scurrying reporters and flashbulbs of the photographers. The Ball has become the premiere red carpet and fashion event of the summer this year, taking the place of the annual Summer Ball also put on by the Verhnyeĭ palaty.

Duchess Mashkova arrived in a stunning Svetlana Dolonov dress specifically made for her for the Summer Ball. Alongside her was her husband of 18-years The Most Honorable Andrey P. Golovin, 9th Count of Semyenovo wearing a Dolonov tuxedo and looking pleased beside his elegant and powerful spouse.

Trailing behind the Vicereine were other leading members of the Young Guards, including Foreign Minister His Grace Pyotr Igumnov, 5th Duke of Kleiskva, and Agriculture Minister The Right Honorable M. Ernst, 3rd Baron of Derm who both attended with their wives.

Rounding out the red carpet show, was Ambassador of Greater Hulstria The Right Honorable Wilhelm Roderick, 2nd Baron of Respvos who appeared with his wife Marie to much applause.

No press or cameras were allowed into Commemoration Ball after the pomp of the red carpet show. For a full synopsis of the fashion and the drama, visit zhurnal.tr.

Vestnik: Trigunia Awarded the 2970 Winter Olympic Games

2 August 2968 - Heinrichgrad, Chadonia, Trigunia

As if the improbable political triumph of Her Grace Duchess Mashkova’s party were not enough, now it appears that the International Olympic Committee has chosen Trigunia to host the first Winter Olympic Games in almost 800 years!

The Games will be held at venues across the nation and economic return from the Games is expected to be high. Already, automobile horns, fireworks and songs have permeated the night as news of the successful bid has circulated the nation. Trigunians certainly see these Games as the time when they can present to all of Terra how far they have come since the times of Communism and oppression. With almost seven decades of successful and orderly democracy, unprecedented economic growth and the undying love that Trigunians have for winter sport, there is little doubt that the Games will be a huge success and that all of Trigunia, nay, all of the world, will be watching.

Now, Trigunia will march with its best face forward as it prepares its venues, builds and repairs the necessary infrastructure and partakes on the one of the highest measures of prestige in modern times: a successful Olympic Games.
