Kundrati President visits the Bashnya, welcomed by President Koshkov | March 5394

Rodshyadam, Radin - Kundrati President Anaximandro Iturain met with President Matvei Koshkov to discuss a refresh of diplomatic relations between the two Delic states. The President's met in the Bashnya after being received at Rodshyadam International Airport, President Koshkov welcomed the Kundrati President and were treated to a brief flyover by Trigunian Aerospace Forces MiG-31 fighters which had assisted in the escort of President Iturain's plane into Trigunian airspace. President Koshkov was joined by Prime Minister Urvan Kasyanov, Foreign Minister Galya Leonidovna Ustyuzhanina, Defense Minister Fleet Admiral Erik Azhishchenkov and several other officials, most importantly the Chairwoman of the Standing Committee on the Tower and Factory Initiative, Katerina Shpak Danilovna, was present to meet President Iturain on the tarmac to receive the Kundrati delegation. The meeting between the two nations is meant to focus on domestic investment into Kundrati, and likewise prompt Kundrati investment into Trigunia which has grown its economy over the past several years but underneath President Koshkov seeks to diversify its economic investments.

One of the topics that was broached was energy security and Trigunia offered to supply Kundrati with oil and natural gas, but Trigunian officials recognize the difficulty with breaking into the Artanian market that has largely been dominated by Dorvish sales. Officials from Neftkomp and Petrogaz were present, both of them commented on the increased competition between corporations such as Carter Energy Group, NordOil and its subsidiary NordOil-Hutori which has grown the Dorvish dominance in the northern energy market. "We're going to provide Kundrati with whatever they need in terms of energy security, both ourselves [Neftkomp] and Petrogaz stand prepared to work with the Kundrati government to drive energy security within the country. We're not blind to dominance that other players in the western half of Terra have over us." Trigunian oil and natural gas have largely been supplied to continents such as Seleya, Makon, Dovani, and Temania with only 25% of their supply being routed to Majatra and Artania, two continents that have their own oil and natural gas supplies that are rarely fought over. According to press releases from both companies, they intend to open operations in Kundrati in an attempt to breach the market, but it is unlikely that they will shake the dominance of western oil and gas corporations.

While energy security was discussed, Trigunian construction corporations were eager to sink their metaphorical claws in expanding economies such as Kundrati where President Koshkov announced the Tower and Factory Initiative would expand its influence. This includes a large number of Trigunian telecommunication corporations who were eager to develop telecommunications infrastructure in the nation. Representatives from the partially state-owned Tritelecom, City Communications (Gorokom) which provides digital infrastructure for local and regional governments and mobile phone services for both commercial and residential use, sent representatives as has several other companies who are eager to break into the Artanian market. Representatives from world-leading software cybersecurity company, Gavrikov Lab announced that they would be opening a new Artanian headquarters in Kundrati as a component of the TFI, they would be hiring a majority of Kundrati workers in the coming year and contracting with local firms to manage the construction of the new headquarters.

The several day trip ended with President Koshkov and President Iturain enjoying laughs and shaking hands before President Iturain departed from Rodshyadam International Airport.

BREAKING NEWS: Nebo Tu-204SM crashes after takeoff from Rodshyadam International Airport.

Rodshyadam, Radin - Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Alexei Petrovich Kamenskikh, announced that a Tu-204 from Nebo Mezhdunarodnaya "Nebo" (Sky International), the former flag carrier of Trigunia crashed shortly after takeoff from Rodshyadam International Airport in the early morning hours of April 5396. Kamenskikh stated that the preliminary investigation revealed that the aircraft was over encumbered with additional cargo that it should not have been carrying, local authorities in addition to the newly formed Civil Aviation Authority of Trigunia (Rodshyan: Управление гражданской авиации Тригунии; tr. Upravleniye grazhdanskoy aviatsii Trigunii; UGrazAv), formerly a collection of oblast and ministerial institutions now formed underneath a centralized authority that reports to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport will be investigating further. The crash, which claimed the lives of all 210 souls on board, is one of the handful of aviation incidents that have occurred in Trigunia in recent years, the last happened 2 years prior in Petrovgrad, Vrosnok where a Tu-204SM's landing gear failed and 97 people aboard were injured as the plane slid from the tarmac. The investigation prompted several changes to the landing gear structure to the Tu-204SM's across the country. Critics of the regime cited the poor investigation as the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport lacked a centralized civil aviation authority, this prompted the formation of UGrazAv underneath current the current minister at the direction of President Koshkov.

Chelyakan, Vlozen Republic - Commonwealth Envoy to Lesnov, Aydamir Murtazaliev, an ethnic Vlozen warned of greater threats of an Ahmadi insurgency in the area of the Vlozen Republic according to sources close to the Presidential Administration in Trigunia. Vlozenya (also written Vlozenya), as the region is called, is home to the largest composition of Ahmadi's within Trigunia and has, historically been a "thorn" in the side of Trigunia for centuries due to the diverse ethnic differences between the Rodshyan and Vlozen peoples. The Vlozen people developed from natives in the area that had contact with traders and merchants from the Deltarian Empire and parts of the Hulstrian Empire that were Ahmadi, the city of Gorniy Zamok, located on the southern coast of Lesnov north of Sebengorsk, became a prominent trading hub for trade between Majatra and Trigunia, especially with the Emirate of Quanzar and the later Jakanian polities that came with it. It was here through this cultural diffusion that the modern Vlozen people developed, now converted to Israist Ahmadism and came into direct conflict with the native Rodshyan and Kozak peoples in the region. In recent years there have been bouts of "terrorism" in the region, largely aimed at the autonomous Vlozen Republic but also at times towards Rodshyan interests in the region. The region of Vlozenya contains one major oil and natural gas field as well as several smaller, less prominent fields that largely benefit the local communities with reduced taxes and high economic output. In recent years the Vlozen Republic, a largely autonomous republic within the wider Commonwealth of Trigunia, has sought to diversify itself and has worked towards the development of several major heavy industrial factories that produce a large number of tractors, construction vehicles and others.

In September 5376, State Security Service (SGB) sources identified several low-level officials from Bazgaristan traveled from Bazgaristan to Vlozenya to discuss "economic opportunities" and subsequently the SGB was able to identify a large-number of payments and financial support from private financial sources in Bazgaristan linked to Trigunian recognized "terrorist" groups in Vlozenya. President Androniki Khvostovsky summoned the Bagzari ambassador but to no avail, Bazgaristan denied and has continued to deny being a state sponsor of terrorism despite continued mounting evidence that they are responsible for such acts. The SGB announced a nation-wide crackdown in September, 5378 following a 2 year investigation, this included the arrest of Internal Affairs Minister for the Vlozen Republic, Akbolat Taymaskhanov for his links to several separatist and radical Ahmadi groups. What followed was what the SGB called a series of "retaliatory" strikes against the Vlozen people and government for "treason" against their people; the terrorist attacks which ended in 5390 after years of on and off again troubles, culminated with the death of long-time Vlozen leader Halid Usamov in Chelyakan, where a car bomb exploded and killed the powerful long-time leader. This action prompted a massive SGB and National Guard presence throughout Vlozenya, it also heralded a new era of raids and crackdowns which ultimately saw 357 Vlozen arrested including Asu Khadzhiyev, the new leader of the separatist movement in the region.

Khadzhyiev's trial, which was delayed due to health-related issues, concluded on 11 June, 5397 where was founded guilty of treason, supporting terrorism and other crimes and sentenced to death. The Supreme Court of Trigunia will be hearing his appeal but it is unlikely. Aydamir Murtazaliev, a former SGB officer who operated in the region, has warned that with increased Bazgari backing and the renewed tensions over Khadzhyiev's trial, the time for a new, long-term insurgency in the region is "high".

Rodshyadam, Radin - Minister of Foreign Affairs Galya Leonidovna Ustyuzhanina announced the recognition of the new government in Kafuristan and announced that they had appointed a new ambassador to Kafuristan, Zinoviy Tikhonovich Kryukov. Kryukov has served as a member of several prominent non-governmental organzations operating in Majatra and Dovani over the past several years and most recent worked for the Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he also served 1 term as a member of the State Duma. Foreign Minister Ustyuzhanina mentioned that the new regime in Kafuristan had suffered "...growing pains..." and that they would be working with the new regime in Kafuristan to ensure "...continued respect for human rights and the rule of law." Kafuristan, a major oil producer and member of OPEN, announced that they would be reducing the flow of oil to Beiteynu and potentially other Majatran states due to the condemnations prompted from alleged human rights abuses during the chaos of the regime change. "Trigunia will recognize the new regime in Kafuristan and work with them towards a brighter future for Majatra and a brighter future for energy security throughout the world."

Director of the State Military-Technical Cooperation Service, Polikarp Kirillovich Engalychev, announced that the Trigunian Navy would be contracting with the State Shipbuilding Corporation to create a modernized line of heavy helicopter carriers, known as the Petrograd-class heavy aviation cruiser (called the Petrograd-class aircraft carrier), a design that has existed in the Trigunian Navy prior. The modernization of the design is expected to take 5 to 10 years and production of the vessel will not be possible for nearly 10-15 years according to the Director. The Petrograd-class is seen as a stopgap measure as the Trigunia Navy weighs what to do with its aircraft carriers, a centerpiece of its future naval expansion plans. There is debate among members of the Trigunian Navy about if the helicopter carrier is necessary but some suspect that even if the Rodshyadam-class aircraft carrier or the Yegorovich-class aircraft carrier do return to active service, the helicopter carrier will serve a role. The design will be updated and modernized and instead of carrying VTOL aircraft will focus on carrying helicopters and be charged with assisting in amphibious assault operations.

Dolgava to Join Kerisian Economic Union

Rodshyadam, Radin - Foreign Minister Galya Ustyuzhanina welcomed Dolgavan officials, notably Minister of Trade and Industry for Dolgava Itārs Palters, earlier today as Dolgava announced that they would be ratifying the Charter of the Kerisian Economic Union (KEU) and becoming a full member. "We're eager to begin working towards full operations within the KEU as we now have a second ratified member. We've been operating solo in preparation for another member of the continent to ratify the treaty." The KEU, which has its headquarters in Rodshyadam's financial district, has been operated fully by the Trigunian's since they conceptualized and pushed the organization. At the organizations foundation there was interest from Egelion but the domestic situation forced them to not ratify the treaty and Trigunia was left holding the metaphorical "bag" of the Kerisian Economic Union. Trigunia ratified the charter in January 5373 and former President Androniki Valeryevich Khvostovsky served as the Supreme Kerisian Economic Council's first President, being succeeded by current President, Matvei Petrovich Koshkov, in April 5388. President Koshkov was "selected", by default, again in January, 5398 as President of the SKEC, a post he will retain until January 5408.

Prime Minister Urvan Vyacheslavovich Kasyanov and Minister of Finance Yehor Vladyslavovych Babij, who succeeded the previous Prime Minister and Minister of Finance respectively, were appointed as alternative representatives to the Council of the Kerisian Economic Commission. The current Minister of Trade and Industry, Innokentiy “Kesha” Innokentievich Kozar, succeeded the previous Minister of Trade and Industry and temporarily served as the Chairman of the Board of the Kerisian Economic Commission before handing it off to CKEC-approved, Kazimir Stanislavovich Zavrazhin, the CKEC is charged with the day-to-day operations of the KEU. Dolgava will have to send representatives to both the Council of the Kerisian Economic Commission and the Board of the Kerisian Economic Commission and in January, 5408 will be eligible for the rotation for the Chairperson role of the Board of the Kerisian Economic Commission. Chairman of the BKEC, Kazimir Zavrazhin welcomed Dolgava and announced that he and the Commissioner for Integration, Accreditation and Regulations, Andrij Leonidovych Shulha, would be traveling to Akiums to meet with Dolgavan officials to ensure an orderly transition.

Both the Dolgavan and Trigunian economies will benefit from the inclusion of Dolgava into the KEU and Trigunian corporations, which have already begun developing plans for their fellow Kerisian nation, will now have an easier time operating in Dolgava due to joint regulations provided by the KEU. Kostyantyn Arkadijovych Bondar, the son of the late Arkadij Maksymovych Bondar who served as the CEO of Petrogaz, announced that they would be expanding a number of downstream operations to Dolgava, this was followed by an announcement by Neftkomp that they would be following suit.

Kerisian Economic Union prompts formation of new development bank.

Aikums, Dolgava - Representatives from Trigunia and Dolgava announced today that they had signed the foundational documents for the new Kerisian Development Bank (KDB) which will be partially operated by both nations and the Kerisian Economic Union (KEU). The initial bonds offered by the bank total nearly $375m LOD and have been provided largely by Trigunia due to the recent boon in oil and gas prices that have benefited Neftkomp and Petrogaz and the wider Trigunian economy as a whole. The development bank, a multinational financial institution, will have to compete with other development banks including the Trigunian-based Green Sea Development Bank (GSDB) which is an amalgamation of several smaller development and multinational banks located throughout Keris, Makon and parts of Dovani. Yeremey Antonovich Siyakayev was appointed as the Chairman of the banks Management Board, and both Trigunia and Dolgava appointed representatives to the Bank Council, the supreme authority of the bank. The two nations, which have grown closer since Dolgava joined the KEU in October, 5399 have been rapidly accelerating their friendship and cooperation in the field of economics. While Trigunia and Dolgava have grown closer, the Trigunian's remain weary of the recent news that Dolgava has joined the Collective Security and Cooperation Organization.

Nation shaken by post-electoral protests

Rodshyadam, Radin - For the past few months Trigunia has been gripped by numerous protests, of varying size and strength, in reaction to the contested victory of the ruling All-Trigunian People's Union in April last year. In the last election the People's Union won nearly 100% of the balot, in spite of growing opposition to its policies, seen as dictatorial by its detractors. The near unanimous victory of the ruling party was taken as blatant electoral theft by the opposition, which proceeded to organize protests demanding the resignation of Chairman of the Council of Minister Urvan Vyacheslavovich Kasyanov. According to the protesters themselves, the largest protest gathered nearly 1 million in the central square of Rodshyadam, although according to official sources that number was closer to 25,000. Regardless, the ruling party seems to be losing its grip on power.

Although Trigunia claims itself a full liberal democracy, critics of the All-Trigunian People's Union claim it is in fact a "managed democracy", a thinly veiled dictatorship where multiple parties are allowed, but only if they remain loyal to the Kasyanov regime. These parties may even be allowed access to the highest levers of power, such as the loyalist Union of the Peoples of Trigunia whose leader Aleksei Lebedev now holds the Presidency, but parties critical to the Kasyanov government may face serious legal and extra-legal hurdles. This lack of genuine opposition has left protest, peaceful or otherwise, as the only available avenue of political contestation.

Since April the protests have been slowly dying down given the government's inflexibility and refusal to concede to their main demand, the repetition of the elections. Many of the leaders of the protests have been imprisoned or exiled, and some have gone missing. But out of the protests possibly the first opposition movement against Mr. Kasyanov has emerged. The People's Democratic Union was founded last month by several exiled opposition leaders who hope to offer a genuine alternative to the dictatorship. A constitutional monarchist party, the People's Democratic Movement campaigns for the restoration of the House of Rothingren-Traugott on the Trigunian throne, historically the sole legitimate Trigunian dynasty. And it is not just the Rothingren-Traugotts that the new opposition party aims to (re)import from Hulstria. The party is avowedly Septembrist, adhering to a specifically Hustro-Mikun ideology that combines a commitment to human rights and constitutional nationalism with the promotion of the concept of a singular nation composed of multiple peoples. Speaking in exile from Mikuni-Hustria, the founder of the party Vyacheslav Volodymyrovych Moroz claims that Septembrism is the perfect antidote to Trigunia's ailments, having proven its efficiency in a similar dictatorial context in another former colony when it allowed Hustria and Gao-Soto to flourish as a prosperous and peaceful liberal democracy for nearly a millennium.

Though Trigunia has a long history of personal union with the former Greater Hulstria, and the Rothingren-Traugotts remain revered as the paragons of a bygone era, it has been centuries since a Rothingren-Traugott has worn the crown of Trigunia. Their foreign origin as well as the non-Trigunian nature of Septembrism may and almost certainly will be used by the All-Trigunian People's Union to further discredit both the protests and the opposition movement. The People's Democratic Union thus needs to fight an uphill battle if it is to succeed in its ultimate objective, gaining power and ushering in a democratic transition.
