Yezhednevnye Novosti: Vicereine Reaches Out to Warring Factions

Image
Vicereine The Most Honorable Countess Vira Lukyanenko during the press conference.

3 January 3165 - Kein, Greater Hulstria

With Foreign Minister His Grace Duke Boris Igumnov in tow, Vicereine of Trigunia The Most Honorable Countess Vira Lukyanenko, or simply The Countess for short, took a break from discussing the relationship between Trigunia and Hulstria discuss foreign affairs in Kien, Greater Hulstria. The press conference was held highlighting the Great Princedom's & Tsardom's position over the possibility of war between members of the Macon Treaty Organization of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance and the informal alliance of Kalopia and Kafuristan.

The Most Honorable Countess stated that "Trigunia prides itself on offering a helping hand and honoring its obligations when called upon by members of its various alliances. However, there are times when it is not in the direct interest for Trigunia to engage in overt nor covert action against nations. Given that Trigunia is a member of the Macon Pact, but also a large consumer of products coming from the region of Majatra, specifically through the Majatran Sea, as well as the shipping of our own products to the nations of the continent. These vessels carry these import and export products through various bodies of water, over vast distances. A war in this region and through these bodies of water, no matter how limited, will greatly impact Trigunia as an island nation.

"It is with this in mind, as well as a sense of common humanity, that Trigunia offer its services in mediating the conflict between these two sides in order to prevent war, which will be not only destructive of human lives and fortunes, but will also disrupt the commerce of the world.

"A a member of the Macon Pact, Trigunia officially refuses outright to engage in hostile actions against the Independent Wantuni Republic, or Kalopia, and the Holy Ranz'riah Empire of Queranzári Kafuristan. Trigunia will not offer military assistance, nor will it offer non-military support, but instead, wishes to avoid this conflict at all costs.

"Because of this, Trigunia officially offers a conference to be held at the Bear's Den in Heinrichgrad in which both sides can discuss their grievances and come to a beneficial conclusion."

After the Vicereine spoke, Foreign Minister Igumnov reinforced her comments but also hinted at the details of the discussions with Greater Hulstria about tying the two nations even closer together. This is the first trip of an acting Trigunian Viceroy to Greater Hulstria on official business, which is quite odd given the close relationship the two countries hold. It seems that the lack of these visits has become an unofficial tradition on the Trigunian camp, given the untimley death of the first Viceroy His Grace R.D. Mashkov, 1st Duke of Petrovgrad on his way to such an important state visit, and was only recently changed. With the Mashkov family relegated to the sidelines of Trigunian politics following the marriage of Her Grace Anastasiya Mashkova, 2nd Duchess of Petrovgrad to His Imperial Majesty Franz VII of Hulstria & II of Trigunia & I of Dolgaria, the new Vicereine seems to be making a name for herself by breaking from such traditions.

And, being the arbiter of a possible peace deal, this will solidify her prestige at home and abroad as well as usher in a change from the normally sabre-rattling foreign policy of Trigunia.

Trigunskiy: Trigunia Declares War on Likatonia

Image
The Vicereine yelling for her aides to contact the Minister of Defense and the Hulstrian Foreign Minister upon hearing of Likatonia's declaration of war on Kafuristan

14 January 3171

Upon hearing of Likatonia's declaration of war on Kafuristan, Vicereine The Right Honorable Countess Vira Lukyanenko called a press in which she immediately pledged Trigunia's support for the beleaguered Sultanate. It has been reported that Vicereine Lukyanenko flew into a rage upon hearing of Likatonia's actions, calling violently for the assembly of a War Cabinet and immediate consultation with the Admiralty.

Military intelligence services had seemed to hint at the prospect of peace, given the relatively positive message last delivered by Likatonia's representatives at the peace conference being held in Heinrichgrad. However, it has become clear that these remarks were nothing more than a red herring in order to deflect attention from the mobilization of the Likatonian Armed Forces (LAF).

The Vicereine was visibly upset and spoke only briefly at the press conference, stating that she "personally feel betrayed and deceived by the government of Likatonia and its President. These people are certainly untrustworthy, and, quite frankly, I would like to see they and their allies utterly ruined."

The Vicereine's Press Secretary Igor Chuikov was quick to convey the Vicereine's statements as less than sincere in that they were spoken out of frustration and did not represent the true feelings of the Vicereine nor the Government. Despite the attempt at damage control by the Press Secretary, it has been reported by inside sources that upon hearing of the war declaration, the Vicereine supposedly called Likatonian President Fournes a "son of a bitch" and called for the Admiralty to place his "balls in a vice until he squeals." However, this report cannot be confirmed.

Ordinary Trigunians voiced a sense of shock or anger at the declaration of war. Machinist Boris Ivanovich Palodichuk said "this comes as a surprise. I felt, from the news reports, that the peace conference was going well. That [Likatonia] was close to a peace deal. Either way, I am upset by this. Now we have to step in an save the day ... again."

Insurance agent Yulia Shevchenko was less positive: "This is a disaster. We are going to expend blood and money because some war-mad President cannot compromise. Thousands of our young boys will certainly be killed and we will feel this disaster for ages."

Vestnik: Vicereine Declares 'Armed Emergency'

Image
Defense Minister personally meets Navy personnel for send off.

Today, Vicereine Lukyanenko used her power to declare a state of 'armed emergency' with the Federal Republic of Likatonia. Such a declaration is merely a move to circumvent the long and drawn-out formal declaration of war process. The vital months it would take for the declaration to be passed in the Duma would allow the Likatonian forces to better plan and prepare for conflict with Trigunia, thus leaving the Great Northern Fleet vulnerable and disadvantaged. The declaration allows for offensive operations of the to be carried out by the Fleet, including the landing of Naval Infantry ground forces, as well as the calling of the reserve Trigunian Defense Force to protect the home islands.

Vestnik: Admiralty Declares "Operation Typhoon"

Sources inside the Admiralty have stated that 'Operation Typhoon', one of the thousands of pre-meditated war plans the Admiralty researches and prepares for, is officially in effect. While specifics of the Operation are obviously classified and would be irresponsible to report anyway, it is clear that one of the main targets is the Likatonian naval fleet and the securing of vital naval bases near Likatonia itself. It is speculated that this will, of course, include the seizure of many small islands within striking distance of Likatonia. However, it is clear that, despite Trigunia's willingness and ability to perform nuclear, chemical or biological weapons, Operation Typhoon is a conventional military action.

Vestnik: Naval Infantry Forces Land in Kafuristan

Image
Convoy of Naval Infantry somewhere in northwestern Kafuristan.

15 January 3171

The Fleet's most tenacious Naval Infantry combat unit, the 5th Division, quickly and quietly landed in northern Kafuristan and prepared to take up positions to defend the Sultanate from Likatonian attack. These troops, termed the 'Trigunian Expeditionary Force' (TEF), decked out in desert uniforms and equipment, will reportedly be handed over to Kafuri command and will more than likely be used in a reserve capacity.

Despite this landing of troops, it is believed that most Trigunian forces will be made available to carry out both defensive and offensive operations in and around Likatonia and, surprisingly, Kazulia. With the Fleet split along two major fronts, the nation's armed forces seem hard pressed to secure the Home Islands. Because of this fear, the Admiralty has shut down the Kerissian Ferry services and conscripted their crews, who are almost all former-Navy men anyway, into the newly re-commissioned green-water fleet; now being termed by the Admiralty as the "Home Fleet". This "Home Fleet" will consist of former mothballed ships which have surely seen their better days. However, these vessels will be responsible for protecting the Home Islands in the event of a unified Great Northern Fleet action. The newly-appointed Home Fleet commander, Vice-Admiral Viktor Gregorivich Jeckeln, assured the public that "despite the seeming shabbiness of this fleet, it will due its duty and protect the Home Islands. I know its crews, I have served with them before, and they will fight to the death to protect a free and prosperous Trigunia."

Vremja: NEW PARTY EMERGES

June 3271

Image
leader of the Partiya Chernych sotnya Trigunii, Alina Kudryavtsev, insisted the current regime was "unfit to rule"

Today the emergence of a new extreme right wing party in Trigunia caused concern among the country's press as party leader Alina Kudryavtsev insisted that Trigunia was "in dire need of reform and help".

Kudyavtsev has distant aristocratic relations, and has strong relations with the Hutori royal family. She is a devout Orthodox Christian and is known to pray daily.

Despite suggestions that her party was extremist and encouraged thuggery, Alina insists "our supporters are passionate and are increasingly concerned at the direction this country is taking. The current regime is unfit to rule given it's desire to allow women to take up roles in society that are unacceptable, and it's disregard for religion in our nation."

Deputy leader Dimitar Arshavin and other members have also been criticised for "mixed political messages" in speeches to the press and media. According to one media source: "the disturbing level of confusion emulating from the new party suggests all is not what it seems".

Trigunskiy Sport: Don't Count 'Em Out!

Image
FK Energetik players looked dejected after their horrendous loss to Sport Petrov.

Sport Petrov showed they have not given up on the Super Liga title yet with an emphatic home victory over Energiya with an unbelievable 7-1.

Four days ahead of the decisive Super Liga matches, Sport Petrov hit top form with Dmitri Terentyev grabbing a hat-trick, although he did limp off the field later on. Ayzer Patrelyak scored twice, one from the penalty spot, and both Tsvetkov brothers, Ilya and Aleksei, got in on the act as Energiya succumbed to their tenth defeat under manager Marko Shuvalov.

It was also a Sport Petrov player who got on the scoresheet for Energiya's consolation late on, with Gustavs Kviesis, the Dolgarian defender, putting through his own goal in the 85th minute.

The victory provisionally saw Jupp Heinzes' men close the gap on league leaders Rodshyadam Avangard to four points ahead of the pacesetters' trip to FK Spartak tonight.

Kudryavtsev hails strong showing in polls

August 3272

Image
Alina Kudryavtsev's Partiya Chernych sotnya Trigunii finished a good second to the Trudovaja Partia Trigunii

In today's election results the Imperialists were thrown from office as the Trudovaja Partia Trigunii topped the poll with 37% of the vote. The Imperialists lost 349 MPs, leaving them in 3rd place.

The results were as follows: Trudovaja Partia Trigunii 169 (+156), Partiya Chernych sotnya Trigunii 125 (+125), Trigunskaja Imperatorskaja Partija 88 (-349), Kommunisticheskaya Partiya 68 (+68).

It looks likely that the Communists will have enough seats to leave the right wing parties in opposition.

Nonetheless, Kudryavtsev declared: "We are the real alternative to the Imperialists, they are a weak moderate party. Weak parties make for weak governments, and we hope to replace them in this country as the party of the right."

In the Presidential elections Vladimir Z'uganov of the Trudovaja Partia Trigunii won on the second round of voting against Nikita Vidic of the Partiya Chernych sotnya Trigunii . The final result- Z'uganov 56.37%- Vidic 43.63%.

NEW GOVERNMENT INTRODUCES RADICAL REFORMS

3276

Image
Alina Kudryavtsev has according to party officials "taken leave and gone visit family and friends in the Commonwealth of Hutori

In a dramatic change following the election the fascist Partiya Chernych sotnya Trigunii, led by Alina Kudryavtsev, was formally disbanded and reformed as the Kommunisticheskaya Komiteta Rabochikh. Although according to a spokesman the party "has not changed any of its policies and never intends to", the new party's title is in strange contrast with its previous one.

The new party leader, Dimitar Arshavin, hailed the new coalition between the Kommunisticheskaya Komiteta Rabochikh and the openly left wing Kommunisticheskaya Komitet Krestyanskikh as the "first stepping stone to realising our party's doctrine".

Tribuna: Sidorov proclaims the capitalist parties a 'threat to social order'
September 3276

Image
A typical Trigunian Imperial Party rally

Today the Chair of the People's Commissars Leonid Sidorov made a speech denouncing Trigunia's capitalist parties as 'a bunch of thugs with no respect for human rights'. The speech was provoked by revelations earlier today that senior financiers of the TIP had made much of their money through child labour in developing countries. As if it wasn't bad enough that capitalists by default steal the produce of their workers, these vile men have stolen the productive labour of children as young as fourteen.

The TIP leadership refused to comment, though a senior source from within the party scoffed "Yes, so what? These kids would only be playing and having fun. I love causing pain and misery." We were unable to verify the source, but the Tribune believes that this man's shameless views are representative of the TIP as a whole. They were definitely not elicited from a hobo who we paid handsomely, that would be silly.

Vestnik: A Tale of Lies & the Lying Liars Who Tell Them

Image
Former-comedy club owner Alexandr Petrovich Starostin discuss the events of last month and how he was forced to close his business by the government after more than 25 years.

12 October 3276 - Heinrichgrad, Chadonia, Trigunia

Over the last month the various Communist parties, which oddly stretch over the political spectrum of the nation, have been spitting lies through their newly "acquired" (or simply stolen) state-run news media organizations about the opposition political parties in Trigunia. Not only has the threat of arrest, imprisonment, fines, censure, and execution been laid at the feet of the Opposition, but now propaganda lies as well.

Most recently, images of youth fighting amongst themselves has been broadcast across the airwaves and newspapers across the nation. The sole purpose of these images? To cast the Opposition, most notably the Imperial Party, as anarchist, rabble, and miscreants bent on the destruction of law and order. Oh, how these lies have been yelled from every hill and dale of this great land by a group of parties grasping at straws!

These new state-run "media" organizations have quickly forgotten the basic tenets of journalism: investigation, fact-checking and integrity. Instead, the state-run "media" has become nothing more than a channel to pass on the memos from the various Politburos that now run this nation.

However, these basic tenets of journalism have not been forgotten at Vestnik. In our case of investigative journalism, we have uncovered information that refutes the images lately spewed out by the Commie "news"papers are complete fabrications. The truth of these images is just the opposite of what the Commies claim. These are not images of Imperial Party youth causing a ruckus, but are instead those of Communist-led youth attacking well-dressed albeit ordinary and successful young people on a group date.

Several young couples, most of whom were politically inactive, merely decided to attend the last comedy show at a local club that was subsequently soon to go out of business due to the new and oppressive laws of the Communists. Outside the entrance of this club, these young couples were mobbed and berated by the Communist-led youth (obvious to tell by the Communist Youth Wing armband on one of the camouflage-clad assailants) for patronizing a "capitalist institution". Security camera footage shows that when the doors to the comedy club finally did open and the many patrons began to file in, the Communist-led youth simply charged them without warning, beating many mercilessly in the process.

A young women, a member of the large group date who did not wished to be named for fear of retribution, explained that "we had done nothing wrong. They were yelling at us and threatening us. I told Anton [her boyfriend] and the group that we should leave, that things were getting out of hand, but he was insistant that we had nothing to fear. That the police that were watching us surely not let things get of out hand. But when the door opened, that was when they [the Communists] attacked and we were stuck against the wall and couldn't escape.

"Several of the male patrons were able to break through the crowd but were beaten only a few yards further up the street. There was media there, capturing it all on film, snapping photographs, laughing. It was horrible. And the police, they did nothing. Not a thing."

Later that same evening, the comedy club was ransacked by what is believed to have been the same Communist-led youths. Left inside were dozens of spray painted messages, calling the owner and those who patronize the shop various inappropriate and awful names. Amongst the most notorious, were the accusations of being a "capitalist pig". This same message has begun to appear on hundreds of privately owned shops and business alongside the glittering shards of glass in the orange light of the street lamps.

Alexandr Petrovich Starostin, owner of the comedy club, had this to say about the incident outside his establishment: "This is absolutely terrible; I'm absolutely gutted. I can barely think straight, I'm almost living in a daze. All I wanted to do was bring a bit of joy to the world through comedy; to allow customers to stop in and forget their troubles for a few hours as they are regaled with humor and fun. I simply wanted to do this and make a living off of it; I'm not a billionaire, I'm a small business owner. Apparently this is a crime now.

"Despite the horrendous physical, emotional, and psychological damage done to those poor young people who came to visit my club, despite damage done to my establishment, the police for some reason stated that I was the problem and I alone had to pay for everything out of pocket. I even had to pay for the policemen who came to collect my fine. They collected a fee from everyone [business owner] on the block as though it were our fault that this happened at my club."

The very next day, only a few minutes after the interview with Mr. Starostin, the police came to the small enclave of buildings and forced all the small shop owners to leave their businesses at gun point. Then, in front of hundreds of horrified witnesses, forced them on to their hands and knees to clean the sidewalks in front of their own shops. All the while, several young boys arrived who hurled insults, spit on and in one case kicked the shop owners as they cleaned.

The police did nothing to these boys, instead, worried and embarrassed local people put a stop to their acts of tyranny. Several older shop owners could not do the work after several minutes, and one old women shopkeeper began to sob loudly before several passer-bys helped her to her shop while one took her place on the concrete. The kindness of ordinary people rising to the top over the depravities of those in charge.

The Imperial Party is a "threat to public order", we here at Vestnik think not.

This is, dear readers, the world that the new Communists are creating. A world where respect no longer exists between individuals. A world of violently-inclined youth, stagnant technological advances, reduced incentives to work, reduced prosperity, the increase in overall poverty, and the destruction of individual God-given liberties; amongst them freedom of religion, freedom of work, private property, rule of law, accumulation of wealth and overall dignity.

This "new" world the Communists are creating, ironically, looks like the same old world created by Communists more than 300 years ago.
