Chair of People's Assembly T.P. Vasilevskaya
A SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL
Traktorgrad, November 17, 4826: Citizen Tatatania P. Vasilevskaya, Chair of the People’s Assembly, addressed the original cell of Krasnyy Narodnyy Soyuz at the Dobrii Utra Bar in Traktorgrad where the party celebrated its first electoral victory of 31 aseats in the Central Committee back in December of 4788. Although mostly upbeat for the occasion, Comrade Vasilevskaya had some sobering remarks about the future:
Well, do want to addres a regret, as a Metzist party like our coalition partner, Krasnoye Dvizheniye, we really do want to be part of a Metzist international organization whether an organization of socialist nations or a gathering of leftist parties. There is clearly no organization of socialist nations although there are socialist nations; we are not alone. The early days of of the Krasnyy Trigunskiy Soyuz were more promising in this regard much more so than recently.
There are some socialist party organizations but none are truly serving as a place for Metzist discussion and cooperative political development. There needs to be such a place. Because there are international issues. We would really like to be able to discuss wth other socialist parties some specific ideas to see how they grapple with them.
I will mention three. First there are a number of dynastic and reactionary regimes that outright outlaw socialist parties from participation in the electoral or political process. We do not need to debate whether this is wrong but what to do about it. Economic sanctions, political ostracizing or simple ridicule of the sheer backwardness of some jumped up tinhorn dictator strutting around in oversized epaulettes all may have their place. All will work much better if we can work in concert with the socialists of all Terra.
Second, a socialist party or government may be dealing with an economy that is in fact either a mixed public and private ownership of the means of production or an entirely privately owned one. How much disruption are we really willing to cause to get to an all publicly owned economy? In our own nation, Krasnyy Narodnyy Soyuz has concluded that cellular telephone producers and suppliers are beyond our capacity to take over. The issue we wish discussed is what level of private ownership is acceptable.
There are many issues to discuss but a third with which we are very concerned is whether in seeking and reviewing alliances we should primarily be concerned with the degree of Metzist orientation or whether the trustworthiness of a particular nation is more of a factor. We do find that because of withdrawal from a number of alliances at some point in our history this is a real concern.
