Liberals announce exit from Left-Bloc, proclaim political independence!

In a stunning turn of events, Jonathan Martin took the stage in Fort William in front of thousands of Liberal supporters to announce that the party will be withdrawing itself from the Left-Bloc political coalition comprised of the Common Wealth Party and the Communist Party of Luthori. The Liberals will from now on be classified as either political independents or "centre." After announcing the decision, Mr. Martin said,

Ladies and gentleman, this decision was not solely made by myself or the other leaders within the party. We collectively agreed to withdraw our membership from the Left-Bloc after recieving a report that the Left For Progress, the newly elected Leader of the Opposition, had been bargaining with the Holy Luthori Church in order to form a so-called left wing government, which gave the Church the position of Head of State as well as several other cabinet positions, on the chance that the Left-Bloc coalition would win government control in the next election. We now know that the L4P has been disbanded, for reasons we are unsure. I can say this, on behalf of the Liberal Party, we now and forever will stand for citizens and voters on both sides of the aisle. We will never abandon our ideals, our policies, or our people in order to bargain with another political party just to play chess with the people of Luthori. What the L4P did was shameful, and the fact that the Communists and the Common Wealth Party enabled and allowed them to engage in bribery with the HLC is equally shameful and the people of Luthori should surely take notice. That being said, because we are now claiming political independence, we are more than willing to work in parliament with parties on both sides in order to better the lives of our people. I certainly hope that the CWP and the CPL will welcome our decision but at the same time pledge to continue to work with us in the future. Folks, as the amount of choices you all have continues to shrink with the absence of the LUF and the L4P, we are all faced with tough choices in the Imperial Diet. Now, it becomes harder for the opposition to pass legislation that we feel will better the lives of our people, and we all are certainly going to take a step back and plan for the tough road ahead. The National Union of Mineworkers joins the CWP

After long negotiations between the NUM and the CWP in October, the National Union of Mineworkers decided to join the Common Wealth Party with a special status in order to strengthen the fight the rights for miners' rights and democracy.

However, the decision of the NUM is not surprising. After the conservative government scraped many workers' rights and allowed the privatization of mines, the working conditions had deteriorated significantly. Wages are being cut, miners have to work longer and employee participation has been abolished. And the conservative parties that prevent any improvement came to power again. No wonder then that the NUM has decided to join the socialist CWP.

The negotiations took place in the mining town of Richbrough. The almost three-hour negotiation had a positive outcome for the CWP and NUM. Because of the support of the workers to join the CWP, the Central Committee of the NUM had decided to join the CWP and to support the popular leader Aida Bat-Elle in her plans for the joined union. The NUM will get a seat in the party main organ, the Chamber Union Committee, and will have an autonomy status, so the NUM is part of the Party and has to support all actions of the party but the union can do strikes, events, etc. without the party's approval . This is an important day for the CWP because it is an important trade union and thus it will support signicantly the movement.

The NUM General Secretary Laura Beveridge commented it witch following words:

Joining the CWP is a very important step for our union. After the conservative governments and their rich friends have abolished our rights and thus we are now forced to work under bad conditions, it is important to organize. However, we cannot fight alonet. We have to join the others to be stronger and more effective in our fight. I think the CWP is the right party. I and my colleagues hope that Ms Bat-Elle will now be actively involved in our work and that she will soon implement the worker's rights.

Aida Bat-Elle also commented it:

I would like to thank all of my colleagues and the colleagues from NUM. Very difficult times have now come for all workers in Luthori and it is now necessary to stay strong and fight against it. I will defend and support the miners in every protest or strike, I will defendem them inside or outside of parliamenet and I will do everything to finally introduce fair working conditions again. It's a shame that in a country as advanced as Luthori we still see the government actively advocating unfairness and injustice. We now have to mobilize against the right-wingers, whether LCU, WR or HLC, and actively organize outside of parliament. I hope change will change many important things soon.
And remember: An inury to one is an injury to all - United we stand, divided we fall!

On the same day after the negotiations, NUM's Laura Beveridge and Aida Bat-Elle decided to visit all miners in the mines in Richbrough and to speak with them. The miners were very pleased with the new good news and had spoken to Ms Bat-Elle for a very long time. The miners are now hoping for significant improvement and more cooperation with other trade union and left-wing parties.

The CPL organises demonstrations all around the country asking for early elections

Today, on 6th June 4746, the CPL organised demonstrations all around the country asking for early elections.
In Shipleyriding, around 80 000 people took part in the protests, according to the police.
In Middenriding, around 50 000.
In Northriding, around 60 000.
In Erneshire, around 40 000 people.
In Orange, around 15 000 people.
Overall, 245 000 people participated in the protests.
According to Henry Greth, political scientists, this is a surprisingly high number for a communist demonstration.
"We haven't seen such numbers since the communist revolution of 4695. It is probably due to the fact that there is a caretaker cabinet staying in power without a proper coalition. With this crisis, the CPL could gain more votes and visibility. On the other hand, the president Weston is totally invisible."
Overall, the demonstrations were peaceful and the only acts of violence were three trashcans set on fire.

Jonathan Martin resigns as leader of Liberal Party

In a surprise press conference, Jonathan Martin has resigned as leader of the Liberal Party, as well as resigning as a member of the Imperial Diet.

After talking with my wife and children over the past few days, I have decided to step down as leader of the Liberal Party and step away from my seat in the Imperial Diet. I want to spend the remainder of my life in solitude focusing on being the best husband and father that I can be, and constantly having to balance my political life and my home life became tiring and I felt that it would be unfair to my family to have to put my job over their well-being. I want to pass the torch of party leadership to the next generation of Luthorians, and bring the party into the future. I have spoken with our ministers in National Government and they have collectively decided to finish their terms then they will also be joining me in returning to their private lives. There will be a complete overhaul of our candidates for individual ministries and the party will be holding a special election to decide the next leader of the party. I want to thank everyone for their support and it was an extreme honor and pleasure serving all of you as your Imperator. The lord has blessed me many times throughout my life, and I cannot be more thankful to him for helping guide me through this career. I ask each and every one of you to pray for and wish our new leader well in the coming days.

Youth leader Jason Andrews wins Liberal leadership election, issues statement on new Party message and namesake!



The Liberal Party held a special leadership election tonight following the recent resignation of leader and former Imperator, Jonathan Martin. Speaker of the Diet Daniel Santiago announced his candidacy for party leadership, hoping to continue the ideas and message from the Martin era. His sole challenger was Young Liberals of Luthori chairman and former Communist, Jason Andrews. In a shocking turn of events, Jason Andrews won the special election to become the new leader of the Liberal Party of Luthori. While the shock is still fresh from the resignation of Jonathan Martin, it was only elevated when members of the party elected a 28 year old former communist and rebel rouser as their new leader by an overwhelming margin. Shortly after the results came in, Mr. Andrews issued a public statement that would certainly shock the party landscape for years to come:

Ladies and gentlemen, fellow Luthorians, and fellow Liberals. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for having faith in me and selecting me to be the new leader of the Liberal Party! While I understand that for some of you it seemed a bit odd to cast your vote for the youngest leadership candidate in the history of our great nation, I still want to thank you for going against your judgement and casting your vote for me. Also, I want to take this moment to thank Jonathan Martin not only for his service as our party leader, but as well as Imperator of Luthori. His public service will be remembered for generations, and he will always have a home here. However, ladies and gentlemen, like you I grew so tired of the same wishy washy politics under his direction, as well as the back door deals that we didn't know about in order to gain control and ministries in the national government. Mr. Martin also, without the knowledge of other party members and leaders, took the party out of the Left-Bloc and although promised "political independency", he and his aristocrat friends found their way siding with the Right and Holy-Bloc on a number of issues. He tarnished the name of the Liberal Party and our history, and under my direction we can no longer identify as the Liberal Party. Instead, we will be moving forward as the Liberal Democratic Party of Luthori, in an effort to restore the left-wing and truly liberal ideas to the party and it's landscape. We are sweeping the party leadership clean, and we must start with the federal ministers. I've just spoken with them before coming on, and they've agreed to finish out their terms in government, then they will be resigning to private life and renouncing their membership. That, ladies and gentlemen, goes to show how loyal they were to not only our party but to every Luthorian that even thought about placing a vote for the party. That being said, I will be ushering in a new list of candidates for the party, candidates that won't play into the pockets of other party leaders just to gain a seat, or speak of independency only to gain funds from special interest groups. I will also be speaking with dear comrade Dwayne Loops of the Communist Party as well as Tina Jackson of the Conservative Party about where we will stand with them going forward. As for now, I am pleased to announce that we will be moving back into the left-bloc of the political landscape in the Imperial Diet. POPE RECEIVES BARMENIAN COUNTER-PART

FORT WILLIAM- Although Fort Williams may be entrenched in deadlock, the newly inaugurated Imperorator, Pope William II is not.

The Pope received his Barmenian counter-part, Ilja Hanna, at the Imperial Airport, where the two then made way to the Imperial Palace for bi-lateral talks.

The office of the Imperator said in a statement that both leaders discussed bilateral ties, as well as possible improvement in relations.

Although Luthori and Barmenia only have normal diplomatic relations, it is widely assumed that the driving force for cooperation, is the nature of the two parties holding office, the right-wing CU and HLC.

Also, noticeable was the absence of any Luthorian ministers from the airport or the banquet held at the conclusion of talks. Seemingly a sign of strength by the HLC, to the lameduck Jackson government.

When asked about the reason for not including members of the Government in the visit, the Pope had this to say:

"How can I ask a lameduck administration or its HoG and MoFA, to speak on behalf of the Luthorian people! I am the symbol fo the nation and was elected by 51.77% of Luthorians. This administration is a caretaker one form 3 years and elections ago. If its a game of numbers, they have 36 seats, while the Holy Bloc has 46."

When asked about what he would do if the Government retaliated by inviting other foreign dignitaries without inviting the HoS:

"If trying to outdo me in expanding foreign relations is a reason for the return of Luthroi to prominence in Terra again I am all for it!! If the MoFA or HoG wishes to invite other nations HoG or MoFA, they could, because they are tasked with executive power. Although I doubt they would be able to do anything, given their lameduck status."

He also had this to comment:

"the Holy Bloc will put forward a series of Constitutional Amendments to clarify the relationship between lameduck cabinets and the HoS before the end of this diets term."

It is expected that the WR and LCP will protest the HoS's actions, but for now it seems all they can do is bark.

Governor of Northriding John Bragard (LDP) gives interview on future of the party and Luthori.

After the Liberal Democrats seemingly shocked the system and the HLC by winning the Duchy of Northriding, John Bragard was sworn in as the first member of the LDP in it's history, a seemingly astonishing feat by a party that struggled to remain in the limelight after it's shocking turn to the left after the resignation of Imperator Jonathan Martin and eventual criminal investigation, as well as the resignation of the "old guard" and radical takeover by the young left-wing section of the party.

In his interview with Jeff DeSantos, Governor Bragard shared his opinions on the topic of the "coup" within the party a few years ago:

Well Jeff, I gotta tell 'ya. I've been behind these kids for some years now, making sure that they had the funding when they were just members of the Student then Youth organizations of the old Liberal Party. Hell, I've always seen my self as a bit more left than most members which is why I have no issues with the direction of the "new" party. Another thing too, I shouldn't even call it a new party and I just felt ashamed then by saying that because the damn feeling we've all had, the one that was screaming bloody murder inside of us begging for a change, well I'll be damned if that little squirt by the name of Jason Andrews didn't strike that cord and bring us all out of the dark to speak not only our minds but the truth.

We've all seen the recent strategy unfolding from the CPL-LDP Minority Government when it comes to treaties and government spending as well as our tax code, when asked how he felt about the decisions his party was making with the much larger and open role in the national cabinet, the Governor had this to say:

I think that our ministers in the National Cabinet with this "minority government" are doing a damn good job, well as good as they possibly can without being a majority coalition. Look, when we've got so many parties and voters simply counting us out and trying to drive us away or put both the communists and ourselves into some sort of nation-hating group hell bent on the destruction of the political system in Luthori, anyone would have a difficult time. From what I've seen of the Tax proposal that was shipped out of Minister Bright's office this morning, I couldn't be any happier. All the time we hear our representatives in the Imperial Diet speaking of tax cuts for the middle class, and ensuring the top 1% pays their fair share. Well guys and gals, this is it! We've got that out on the floor, and I just got word before this interview that the government spending plan was rolled out so Mrs. Bright has been working all day with her colleagues and other ministers to get what needs to be done. I can only hope that we focus more spending on our Infrastructure, ensuring public transportation that is free for all our citizens, and more importantly turning back the clock and spending a it more on our Veterans' and senior citizens' health care and benefits. We must make sure that we leave no stone unturned and no Luthorian will be left behind.

With his final statement of the brief interview for Monday morning television, Governor Bragard wished his colleagues well and issued his promises and goals for the people in the Duchy of Northriding:

When I threw my hat in the ring to be the Governor of Northriding, I never imagined that I'd even win. Some old, salty dog running as a member of a party filled with young and energetic kids almost seemed impossible. But, that impossible outcome became the most possible improbability. I am so happy to serve the people of Northriding as their Governor, and I can assure them that the same tempo you see from our LDP representatives in the Imperial Diet and National Cabinet will be echoed throughout the halls of my office. I will provide the same faith, love, and care that I provide to my wife and children. Im not working for myself or my staffers or anyone that donated my campaign. Sure, if they live in Northriding then yes of course I work for them. What I'm trying to say here is, I work for the forgotten, for the silent who are too afraid to speak up, for the downtrodden and poor who cant find a way to feed their children while working multiple jobs every day. Not only do I stand and work for you, but the rest of the Liberal Democratic Party stands and works for you as well. We will always remember you, and we will work every single day to never let you down.

Fort William: From the ashes of a fractured Luthorian political landscape now comes yet another party. The Socialist Revolutionary Front or SRF has entered the political frey. For decades Luthori has found itself at an awkward crossroads, Monarchy or not? The SRF wants to bring "a new era" to the nation and end the endless struggle to preserve the monarchy. Its leader, Dougie Fraser, was a former real estate agent. Something you would not expect from the new leader and founder of a communist and populist political party. But Fraser says he has seen enough in his carreer to sway him left and make him beleive fundamental change is needed in the country. While the monarchy has long been abolished the country is now in a awkward position where remnants of the old imperial regime can still be found in its name and governmental structures and where republicans and monarchists fight a continious battle to preserve the status quo.

This situation cannot persist. Everyone in our country knows it and still no politician dares do something about it. It doesnt matter which way we sway the country as long as we pick a clear position instead of endlessly bickering and preserving the status quo. Luthori was once a global superpower projecting its immense wealth and military might over all continents on terra and look where we have ended up. The Empire isnt working. The semi republican system isnt working. We need change and a clear direction forward and that is what i want to give to the Luthorian people. A way forward.

Said Fraser. While Fraser and those aiding him are currently hard at work setting up the party and preparing it for the upcoming election they have already presented parts of their electoral program. Their party, although communist and populists, believes in the principal of "People's Democracy" which means that the party wants to achieve its communist and socialist goals in a democratic system. One of the main promises on the electoral agenda is turning Luthori in a proper federal democratic republic but recognizing the major part that the royalty has played in its history.

While we are communist the SRF still cant deny the major role of our former monarchs and their royal houses in our proud history. Therefor the SRF pledges the creation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Luthori but also proposes to keep the official name of the country to the outside world as the Empire of Luthori to respect the history of our great nation. Domesticallt the nation will be called the Federal Democratic Republic of Luthori. In accordance with this we strive for the creation of a comprehensive constitutional ammendment to give individual regions far stretching autonomy and changing the name of parliament as well as other government institutions and positions

States the SRF electoral program. The SRF is also in favour of several nationalizations and "a renewed effort to propell Luthori back onto the world stage both economically, militarily and culturally"

The SRF is currently registering its candidates for the upcoming election and will contest in that election with Dougie Fraser as it chairman and political leader.
