Jason Andrews speaks from his seat as the newly-elected Luthorian Ambassador to the World Congress
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister of Hutori, the Honorable Sarah Vence, she said:
Mr. Secretary-General, Distinguished Delegates, members of this assembly.
As the dually elected Head of Governement of Hutori, I would like to speak ont he behalf of my governement and of my country on the persistent problem of slavery and tyranny troughout Terra. To my great sorrow, we must admit that despite countless actions, interventions, treaties, cooperation and even war aiming at stoping abuse of fundemental human right, Slavery remains a existing practice to this very day.
We hold as self-evident how fundamentaly evil slavery is. There is no higher violation of the sanctity of humans being that the one of considering a entire individual as your own property. There is nothing more impure than to deny anyone the very concept of freedom.
The nations of Terra have a responsibilty to fight slavery at all cost. This duty was, to say the least, not fulfill. The world community has show cowardice toward this very duty, allowing tyrannous countries to continue with, most of the time, full impunity. This has to change. We need to strike and we need to strike hard.
Right now, millions in Pontesi are being oppresed, enslaved and persecuted simply on the base of their ethnicity. This has been going on for decades. The world community need to act agaisnt this cruel regime.
On the other hand, we can only commend the new governement of Trigunia which recently proposed legislation to ban slavery which are to be adopted in the next few months. The President of which as personally assure me that the responsible for these atrocities would be brought to justice
In all hope that the nations of the world will ear this call to actions and act accordingly.
Thank You.
Mr. Andrews stated that her testimony and short speech to the Assembly was very moving and powerful, and he didn't waste any time at all in issuing a response:
In response to the Honorable Ms. Sarah Vence,
I am proud to say that I as well as a majority of Luthorians stand with you in condemning the actions taking place in Pontesi and we also commend the newly elected government of Trigunia and the actions they have taken to ban slavery. This government has proven that swift and current justice is the only way to combat these issues.
In our country we have also taken distinct measures in order to ban these atrocities and ensure that they never arise, as we have seen a ideological shift to the left in our Imperial Diet. Of course, our nation has a religious history dating back centuries and has always found itself on the more conservative side of the political spectrum, but the tide is starting to turn with the ideological shift yet we are not forgetting our values and ideals with these changes.
We encourage every nation to bring these unspeakable actions to light and ensure that they muse never happen again through actions in their respective assemblies and parliaments. Although we all have our differences in terms of Ambassadorial duties and nation history, but we must set those issues aside in order to fight for the common good and speak for and with those who do not have a voice.
That being said, I look forward to meeting with every one of you and working with you, as I find this experience to be a distinct pleasure.
Thank you.
It seems that although Mr. Andrews won't be elected to any higher office in our nation's government any time soon, we can be grateful that a majority of the members of the Imperial Diet as well as their party leaders delegated him to represent all of us in the World Congress as such a compassionate, swift, and strong face of the Holy Luthorian Empire.
