                    OPINION: The Strange Death of Luthori

                    July 4827

     FORT WILLIAM, ORANGE — Though there might be many candidates for the titles of ‘great power’ or ‘emerging power’, one thing’s for sure – Luthori’s not among them. And yet Luthori was once one of the world’s two undisputed superpowers, along with its ally Hulstria. So what happened? Where did it all go wrong?

          The October coup of 3532 that saw Philip IV deposed by Colonel Oliver Wellcrum and the Holy Luthori Empire replaced with the “Realms of Luthori” seems like a good start. There had only been one previously successful attempt to abolish the monarchy, by the Luthori Commonwealth Party in the 34th century, but that was only a very brief interregnum of less than a decade. This one would last fifty years. It is now known to historians that this period was no accident of fate, but one engineered by a Kennedy-orchestrated conspiracy to bring down the Holy Luthori Empire just as the Colonial Review Committee had started to fix its problems (though this, by angering the powerful nobility, was what allowed the conspiracy to emerge in the first place).

          The 3730s were a disaster for any hope Luthori had of recovering. The Verrell-Hutoris engineered a war with Alduria – to this day it remains unclear whether they installed a puppet regime for the very purpose – and by the end of it the close relationship that had endured for a millennium, that had given birth to the modern Luthorian language, was no more. The Church of Alduria, one of the most important distinctions it had from the rest of the Canrillaise-speaking nations, was destroyed.

          The 43rd century is an example of a wasted opportunity to become, at least, a regional power in Artania. Under the Royal Conservative Party, Luthori rejoined the Artanian Union and seemed set to play a vital role in it. The RCP succeeded in restoring the monarchy. But when 47% of the electorate voted for the joke campaign of “Nerp a Lerp a Werp” at the 4229 election it was a sign of things to come.

          The 41-year chancellorship of Jamie Jamesson turned Luthori into the world’s laughing stock with his “wait a min was we tricked into voting for absolute monarchy” and the installation of “His Imperial Majesty Holy Highness the Legend of Rick the Great of House Rai, by the Grace of God, the all-powerful warrior, Leader of Bawrai Party, Shining Star of Holy Empire of Luthori, Defender of the Faith, Ever-Victorious, Iron-Willed Commander, Great Man, Who Descended From Heaven, Guiding Star of the Luthorian Empire, Emperor of Holy Empire of Luthori by the will of the Luthorian people” upon the throne. By the time the Luthorian people realised Jamesson was serious when he talked about bringing back slavery and the slave trade, that he was not another “Nerp a Lerp a Werp”, the Diet had been stuffed with enough blockparteien to make elections a joke.

          It is for a good reason that the name James is still banned in Luthori to this day.

          But what about the Imperial Commonwealth, you ask? What about the union with Hutori, the successful reunion with Mordusia and Alduria?

          In truth, that was probably what damaged Luthori the most. It allowed Luthori to pretend that it was still a relevant power, that it was at the head of some great empire (by ignoring Hutori), and that nothing needed to be done because everything was just fine. And now the Hutorians confirm with their condemnation and talk of fight what we knew all along – that Luthori can never hope to be even an equal partner of a regional power ever again.

Briggs Government restores trust in Luthori

After the Liberal Conservative-National Movement government removed rights for many Luthorian citizens, Seal Bearer Briggs has focussed the efforts of her government on restoring rights to these people. This caused the government to allow anyone to serve in the military, allow striking in bad conditions and grant dual citizenship. What Luthori News is now wondering though is how this will effect Luthori's standing in the world.

Under the last government Hutori condemned the actions of the country and said they were disgusted by the laws passed. Luthori News now wants to know if other countries believe that Luthori could go back to this.

RED TIMES

Nationwide protest shake Luthori

Following the recent proposal made by National Movement, "First Reform: Protecting the White Race", Hundreds of thousands, including most of immigrant families and a lot of left-wing supporters came onto the streets protesting the act trying to restrict rights of non-native Luthorians.

Imperator Trevor Hale also held a speech in New Salem, Orange concerning the issue

The nation is protesting the misdeeds of the National Movement. And for reason! They are trying to take people's rights as citizens! If the National Movement wants action taken against them, so they get what they want! We will not stop protesting against this Fascist agenda until the National Movement and White Rose stop taking our citizen's rights! We call on everyone who supports human rights to come and rally with us! Long live Luthori! Down go National Movement!

Chants saying the phrase "Long Live Luthori! Down go National Movement!" could be heard for a few hours in New Salem.

The protests were peaceful apart from some vandalism of the government building and a few violent outliers.

Bruce Kimmo Calls for Hutori to take action against Luthori Fascists

The Rt. Hon. Bruce Kimmo made a speech to the Hutori Senate talking about what he calls the 'Luthori Fascism Threat'. He wants the International community as well as the Hutori government to 'take action' against three parties in Luthori. They are the three current governing parties of Luthori

* National movement (http://classic.particracy.net/viewparty ... tyid=40798)
* White rose ( http://classic.particracy.net/viewparty ... tyid=30314 )
* Authouritarian Fascist Union (http://classic.particracy.net/viewparty ... tyid=41286)

He made quite a stir over them in his speech here. http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill. ... lid=635274

Mr. Speaker

I am here before the Senate to hopefully discuss more about the rising threat of the fascist government of Luthori. Its true that Luthori offers Hutori no direct threat but i want to warn the Senate that this great evil is turning a once great nation into a authoritarian state of hatred. I urge the governing parties to discuss with the senate on what actions we need to do to try to prevent these vile men from getting any more power. If its internationally legal and wont cause tensions then its probably the right thing to do.

I know the president knew of our parties worries about Luthori in the past but now international action needs to be taken by the great nations of Terra to ensure freedom to the minorities in Luthori. Yes the election results in Luthori are likely to be legitimate but these governing parties are carrying hatred, racism and authoritarianism on there backs. Yes let us pray for the salvation of all of those who live in that totalitarian darkness-pray they will discover the joy of knowing God by us helping them.

The parties of Luthori i am talking about are:

* National movement
* White rose
* Authouritarian Fascist Union

We need to try remove or at least lower their power grip in Luthori. Can members of the Senate please tell the other members their thoughts on this and can the President please tell us what his government intentions are over this? We ask for nothing drastic just reassurance that Hutori and the international community will take steps over Luthori. Thank you

- Rt. Hon Bruce Kimmo
NCP Leader

Its unclear what the NCP leader wants to fully achieve and for a small party leader its a wonder what this speech could possibly do.
