Rump Cabinet Rules Luthori with no end in sight

Since the election of August 5182 there is still no proper ruling government in Luthori. PM Ferresen currently is in charge of a rump cabinet with most of his coalition allies resigning just before the snap elections were called.

The Governor General, a position that was only recently created as continued to be shown completely ineffectual in Luthorian politics. In Parliament there has been a bill tabled that now asks that the Prime Minister Ferresen to propose a new coalition government in order to avoid another round of snap elections.

George Bittersmith, the popular leader of the RFE commented on the current political crisis on the country, by saying "It's clear that despite the fact that she's supported by half of the country the current Governor General has no backbone to actually represent our dear Emperor. God Save Luthori."

The Luthorian Times
The Liberals wins the Internal Election of the Progressive Party

January 8, 5187
Image
After the New Year celebrations, progressive activists were called to vote for the Progressive Council, the decision-making body within the Progressive Party, about 3,000,000 votes slipped into the ballot box, according to poll organizers. The decision of the voters was without appeal, the Liberals who had started their campaign with only one seat, managed to impose their ideas in the end, winning 5 seats to arrive at the number which gives them a majority within the Council, compared to this the moderate socialists and the radical socialists were crestfallen, winning only 4 seats out of 10 combined and with the moderates winning 3 seats out of 10, the position of the socialists has become very strained, for the liberals claim that the PP is going to take a right turn, like the LL's, but keeping the whole concept in place, Kennedy's position as leader is also strained, but with the Council voting on the position of leader that in 5189 he still has time to breathe, moreover, in an effort not to shock the voters, the positions will be modified to coordinate with the positions of the Liberals, but the leader could remain the same... The rest of the story remains to be followed.

The Royal Banner
The Plot to overthrow the government

Image

In breaking news it appears that Charlotte Davies, the former controversial Governor-General was plotting to overthrow His Imperial Majesty and install herself as Empress. That is the official word coming out of the PMO.

"She's a menace, it's that simple. Davies and her radical ilk must be punished but we sadly lack the tools to do so. I think it's time we establish a new police force designed to rout out the extremist menace that plagues us." Bittersmith was quoted as saying.

Davies has officially been a wanted person as the Home Office has issued an arrest warrant for her, as she has failed to show face at the recent committee hearings.

And there have been definitely rumours swirling out of the PMO that Bittersmith is working very closely with the Home Office to establish some kind of ironclad task force that's main focus will be to eliminate the threat of Davies and her ilk.

However it should be noted that there has yet to be any clear evidence presented of a coup attempt by Davies. Is this perhaps an overreach of the Prime Minister to further his grip on power? Or was Davies, who showed a clear disregard in following Head of State protocol truly planning to overthrow the Emperor and install herself as the new monarch? We will be following this news story closely as it develops.

The Luthorian Times

Monday 5th July 5189

Deadlock in the House

Image

On 4 July 5189, the Luthorians were called to vote for the Representatives, the Senators and the Governor General, the Governor General in office until then, Michael O'Connell, already expressed his wish not to run again for the post, Moreover, the PM Bittersmith, has already expressed his wish to stand once again, for, I quote "to lead the parliamentary majority to a new victory", the Left Party had to change leader during the campaign, Because Charlotte Davies was still in provisional detention, Karen Wragg took the reins of the party, making a campaign focused on the restoration of the republic and a release of Davies and on "A restoration of true democracy in Luthori", Labour and Solidarity have announced that they will continue their efforts for the porchaine election, the Progressive Party has elected Thomas Williams, as leader of the Party, he is openly anti-Left Party and openly social-liberal, he is also an adept of the monarchy. The NCA (National Conservative Alliance), the merger of the Hunperdincks Nationals and the Luthorian Conservative Party, had not yet given any sign of collaboration with RFE and Bittersmith in the event of victory, the campaign having stopped the day before the election, the people were able to make their choice during the weekend, and about 61,000,000 Luthorians went to vote for the general elections, of which 4,000,000 via other means (proxy voting, voting by mail, via internet...), the results were supreme, To put it plainly, George Bittersmith’s government lost its majoritarian majority to 165 seats, which was a government defeat but not a defeat for the right, as the right won the majority of seats in the House of Commons with 186 seats out of 335, while the left and centre won 149 seats out of 335, former PM George Bittersmith ran for GG, ending the Blank Candidate tradition created by Rally for the Empire to protest against the existence of the post of Governor General of Luthori, popularizing the results piur the other spartis and allainces, The Left Party remained Luthori’s number one party, winning 72 seats, the surprise groosse comes from the Common Sense Civic Union, which won 67 seats, its biggest result, RfE is just behind with 66 seats, the Progressive Party won only 36 seats, The NCA has won now, with the right having a majority, it might be simple to form a cabinet, no, but if, the CPPL has slept and already announced that it will not support the Bittersmith Ministry, then the government is in a delicate situation, is this Bittersmith will remain PM for the next four years or is this a new PM will take his place...

BREAKING NEWS
Governement about to be formed, accord reached between RfE, CSCU and the L&S Alliance !

Tuesday 14th July 5189

Image
Former PM David Ferresen in Sanxingham for the negociations

According to information from Fort William Inquirer, negotiations between Rally for the Empire, the Common Sense Civic Union, the Luthorian Labour and the Solidarity Citizens Committee, negotiations would be ongoing between the four political parties, after the elections, In fact, the Bittersmith government lost its majority in the House of Commons and the CPPL announced that it would no longer support the cabinet, the Labour and Solidarity Alliance approached the government in the hope of forming a government with them, according to several reports, negotiations were strained between the different parties, with Labour and the SCC, in the hope of being able to move away from Bittersmith’s controversial legacy, would have asked for his resignation, which would have naturally refused, Apart from this and some hot and thorny points, the parties seem determined to form a cabinet among themselves, to avoid a seizure of power by the left, republican and socialist. Also according to our information, a cabinet proposal could well be accepted by the House in the coming months, because the vote that is taking place at this time to grant the entrustment to the new cabinet is very likely to pass, At the moment there are about 193 votes in favour, 61 against and 81 abstentions. The Prime Minister Office said that PM Bittersmith will speak at 12:00 tomorrow, which could be an announcement of resignation of him and his government, the rest is to be followed...
