Economic crisis causes the collapse of the government and snap elections !

Friday,19 June 5190

March 5192: just one year after the Mercer Cabinet gained power, the economic situation is dire. Unemployment increased to 18.5% and the GDP contracted by 4.1%.
Anger is growing within the nation and all opposition parties are asking Dove Mercer to resign and call snap elections.

The Prime Minister tries to reassure the population that the crisis is part of a wider global crisis and that the government is doing everything to fight against inflation and unemployment.

At the same time, many MPs from the Progressive Party, resigned in disagreement with the decision of Duke Micheal Aringston to keep supporting the national government. Due to internal infighting, the party collapsed to 3% of the votes in opinion polls. In June, the party is dissolved after a decision of the board members.

Concerning the Left Party, Charlotte Davies managed to reclaim the leadership of the party after her prison term was served. The decision was not opposed within the Left Party but Davies remains a controversial figure for most of the population. According to a recent poll, only 32% of voters have a positive opinion on Davies. It is however, still higher than the approval rating of Prime Minister Dove Mercer, which stands at 26%.

The National Conservatives also took a hit with the economic crisis. Due to the unpopularity of the Finance Minister Hannah Humperdinck, the growing LCP faction within the party gained influence and decided to rebrand the party. The National Conservativse will now be called the Luthorian Conservative Party again and the Humperdinck faction is now smaller than it has ever been.

The Labour & Solidarity alliance is campaigning as a "serious opposition list" and a "moderate force" in these elections, while faced with the threat of the Daviesist becoming the largest political force in the elections. The coalition also stressed they were in opposition for the last 2 years and are not responsible for the crisis.

The Rally for the Empire, on the other hand, has been increasingly critical against the Mercer Cabinet, despite taking part in it. The RfE launched a "Make Luthori Great Again" campaign, recalling how the Bittersmith years were better than the Davies years.

The Bloc - Minorités seems to have reached a glass ceiling with minorities being its electorate. The party also seems increasingly close to the Left Party.

Ruby Carter, leader of the Labour & Solidarity coalition.
Friday,19 June 5190

Ruby Carter managed to convince voters her plan was the best to save Luthori from economic collapse. Her coalition (Labour & Solidarity) won 27% of the votes, the highest result achieved by her coalition.

Prime Minister Mercer, who was blamed for her mismanagement of public finances, saw her party, the CSCU, gain just 11 % of the votes and lost 25 seats.

In second place, the Left Party, led by the controversial Charlotte Davies did well, gaining over 20% of the votes and 70 seats in the Diet.

Another winner in this election is the Rally for the Empire, coming third. Campaigning with the slogan "Make Luthori Great Again", former Prime Minister Bittersmith emphasized the economic successes of his previous mandates.

The right-wing LCP, the latest rebranding of the National Conservatives, won 16% of the votes and managed to stabilise compared to previous elections.

In sixth and last place, the left-wing minority interests party Bloc - Minorités won 7% of the votes and lost 11 seats.

Now, Ruby Carter has to find coalition partners and show she can lead the country better than Dove Mercer, a hard task!

Economist Best Seller Forms New Party

Economist Billy Pillers announced the creation of the Independent Liberal Party at a press conference hosted recently. The best-selling author criticized the right for their draconian social policy and the failure to deregulate certain industries as well as the left for their over-regulatory ambitions in addition to raging against the current instability in the House of Commons. Pillers announced that the ILP stands for Deregulation of Business to trigger economic growth, the strengthening of the welfare state to offset losses to workers, lower income taxes, and increased sales taxes. The ILP will first petition the government for legislative changes as well as prepare to run in the next election for the HoC.
