Ebba Busch Thor praises coalition government

It seemed for a while that the SPD was going to spend the four years after the election in opposition, however sources tells this paper that after meetings with the white rose and with the Authoritians, both of the parties dumped the centrists in favour of the SPD.

[quote]In just a year we've managed to bring forth a balanced budget, many leaders seem to forget that this is a democracy and we are obligated to serve the people. The silly and frankly laughable ways the centrists have opposed my party in public is showing more of their own charchter than mine, and maybe shows quite clearly why they were snuffed of their cabinet positions. What we now have is the most experienced and best politicians of this nation. We can Moy get everything we want, but this coalition seems to respect that and always try to find a middle ground/quote]

Davies makes first speech as Governor General as Sullivan reacts to the election

The new Governor General of Luthori spoke today after his narrow victory in the Governor General election. Lewis Davies, 72, made a speech to supporters in Geharon;

The members of the Imperial Diet now must listen to what the people said. I ran this campaign on a clear and unequivocal message, that it was time to end monarchist Government and instead allow the people directly to choose their head of state. Following the result, members of the diet know where the people stand on the monarchy, and should act accordingly.

The Leader of the TUSC, Ben Sullivan, 73, congratulated his friend and former colleague in the Diet on his victory, and confirmed that Davies would refuse to act as a “traditional" Governor General by refusing to show deference to the monarch. The victory of Davies justifies Sullivan's decision to end the TUSC policy of abstentionism towards the Governor General position.

Sullivan also welcomed the results of the elections for the Imperial Diet;

In an election during which more parties were competing for seats, we are happy to have held our own. More importantly, perhaps, the Government has now lost it's majority, making it's future untenable. It is unlikely that we will be in any Governing Coaltion in the near future, but we will continue to fight for our voters, working men and women who will always represent. The poorest in our society will continue to have a voice in Fort William and in the Imperial Diet.

Sullivan, 73, has been rumoured to be considering his future recently, with suggestions that the election coming up may be his final one.

Ebba Busch Thor slams TUSC

The last Election despite open hostility with several left wing leaning parties, Ebba Busch Thor managed to lead her party to becoming the largest party in the diet.
If someone doesn't believe in the monarchy they have no business being governor General.
one social commentator noted.
The people elect the Governor General to represent them to the monarch, if they truly wished for a Republic the TUSC to use would have been a much larger party than they are today.

Ebba Busch Thor commented on the election by revealing in a press conference that a possible vote of no confidence could be up for discussion if the Governor General continues to not do his job.

Atkins launches election manifesto
Leader of the LCR launches his election manifesto

Leader of the Conservatives and Reformists, George Atkins has launched his second election manifesto in two years, after successfully passing a motion for an early election in the Imperial Diet. He called it a manifesto "for change" and a vote against the establishment and the "status quo."

The Conservative manifesto includes a number of radical proposals:
> A complete overhaul of the current extortionate income tax system
> Investment in key public services, like health and education
> Encouraging enterprise and business ownership
> Reducing unemployment
> Building trade deals with new and current allies
> Cutting bureaucracy and red tape

In his speech, Mr Atkins raised a number of important issues:
People are fed up of the status quo. They are fed up of broken promises. They are fed up with high taxes and over spending, they are fed up with what this and previous governments have delievered, or not delivered, for our country. The Conservatives and Reformists offer something different. We offer sustained but sensible investment in health and education; we offer a chance for businesses to grow, compete and employ; we offer a clearly thoughout plan for Luthori.

Sullivan and Davies declare victory as Democratic Alliance for Luthori succeed in gaining a Diet majority

It was only a couple of hours into an incredible election night that the Governor General race was called by most major news networks for the incumbent, Lewis Davies, who has announced that he will likely only contest one more election for Governor General after this one, as he is already 75 years of age. Davies' comfortable first round victory with 42% of the vote led most commentators to predict that he has indeed won another term. It was a nailbiting night in the elections to the Imperial Diet, however, as the exit polls suggested that the Government might've been able to hold on if it brought the CSU into the Cabinet Coalition. The exit polls were proven to be wrong, however, as the results came in from Tinako, showing a surprise victory for the Opposition Liberal Republican Party. The final results show the Democratic Alliance for Luthori on 229 seats, enough to form a Government. Many of the Government's policies such as extra Police powers, restrictions on freedom of speech and religion and the don't ask don't tell policy are all likely to be ok the chopping block. It's likely to be a Government based largely around Social reform, given the huge differences between the LRP and LCR on the right, and the TUSC and UFE on the left on economic policy.

Ben Sullivan addressed supporters at a gathering of party workers;
The results are not fully in, but the indications following the final results in Tinako suggest that the Democratic Alliance will be able to form a Government. I appreciate the cooperation between my party and United for Ethnicity, but that is an easy alliance, we agree on most issues. On issues surrounding the economy we are both way to the Left of the LRP and LCR, despite this fact, the 4 of our parties are able to join together in unity against the forces of Authoritarianism and in favour of personal liberty. We will show true bipartisanship as we seek to make Luthori once again a country that says: “as long as you are not harming others you are free to continue as you are" I say to Mr Atkins, Ms Bee and Mr Biden, let's seize this opportunity to make Luthori a free and Democratic society.

Sullivan, 76, is one of the oldest Party Leaders in the whole of Terra, but his incredible personal drive keeps him pushing forward towards his goals of Socialism and Liberty.

Leadership challenge mounts against George Atkins
Justice Secretary and Leader of the Conservatives faces mounting leadership challenge amongst parliamentary colleagues

Image
Mr Atkins before meeting with the cabinet to present his Justice Reforms

Long-serving leader of the LCR, George Atkins is facing a mounting leadership amongst his parliamentary colleagues, it was discovered last night. It appears some Conservative parliamentary members are angered by Atkins' centrist stance and lack of progress made in the most recent elections. One senior member of the Conservatives speaking anonymously said "Atkins isn't a true leader, he was good to establish our party basis back in 4442 but our party and our country is changing and I believe it is time for fresh leadership to take us forward."

Many on the right of the party believe that current Secretary of State for Food and Agriculture, Heidi Hansen would be an appropriate candidate to succeed Atkins. It was reported she was angered by her "demotion" at last year's government formation. She was previously Finance Spokesperson, and believed that her appointment in a smaller department was "betrayal" by the party leadership. The LCR need only 8 MPs to call a motion of no-confidence vote in their leader. When questioned by journalists, Atkins refused to comment on the issue of his leadership indifference to deputy and Defence Secretary Malcolm Richardson who said "MPs need to unite behind our leader, or face the consequences."

Ebba Busch Thor enjoys full party support

Last night was the yearly social democratic Congress, new policies are to be voted on and brought forth. In a break in tradition no one stood against Ms Busch. Instead for the first time since Mr Coombes she was once more voted party chairman 247/3/0. The three that abstained were all from the Youth Party, while she still have majority support claiming 51 out of the 54 seats awarded to the youth party, it shows the stark contrast between her and former leaders of the SPD. Throughout her mandate she has turned the conflict with other parties up to ten. For example the Feud with the TUSC seems to only be escalating by the day. Instead the SPD revived an old alliance from Mr Coombes era whith the White Rose. The Authoritians were another unlikely alliance brought forth over the social issues that has been on everyone's mind. While vastly different economical policies all of the leaders stand for the forthcoming election.

No matter what happen Ms Thor has secured total control of her party in the new direction she is taking the party.

Sullivan announces he is to fight one More election as he makes minor changes to his front bench team

TUSC Leader Ben Sullivan, 79, has made some changes to his front bench, following his announcement that the next Election will be his last. Sullivan has replaced Alexander Jackson and David Ralph, who are both standing down from the Diet at the next election, with promising young Diet members. Renee McQueen (https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/b/young-b ... 229888.jpg), aged 38, and Isabelle Norwood, 29, have Impressed as backbench members in the diet, and McQueen's previous experience as a Computer Science professor makes her an obvious choice for her role. Norwoods health eating in schools campaign in her constituency may also have had a role in the Food and Agriculture brief being seen as right for her.

Sullivan has now led his party for 51 years in the Imperial Diet, and the fact that some party Leaders currently weren't even born when he first became Leader shows his longevity.

Governor General Lewis Davies has also announced that he will only serve one more term as Governor General if re-elected next election. It has also been confirmed that whichever party from the Liberal Republican Party and Luthorian Conservatives and Reformists gets the most seats at the next election will receive the TUSC Endorsement for the position in the following election.

TUSC Leadership election Results

Following his retirement from Frontline Politics, Ben Sullivan's replacement as Leader has been decided. The nomination process led to 5 candidates announcing and being confirmed.

Ellesha Wilson - 29 nominations
Aaron West - 16 nominations
Renee McQueen - 7 nominations
Tara McNeil - 6 nominations
Richard Travis - 4 nominations

Wilson is seen as a potential unifier of the Liberal and Traditional Socialist wings of the party. West would be seen as a potential further shift to the left, and is also just as Conservative on immigration as Sullivan. McQueen was only recently promoted to the Shadow Cabinet, and is seen as being both Left Wing on the economy and Liberal on social issues, whilst promoting feminism and Minority rights. Her platform includes reversing the Emerson resolution which states that the TUSC are opposed to positive discrimination. Tara McNeil is a prominent Feminist activist only elected to the diet at the last election. Richard Travis is seen as a moderate on the economy, whilst supporting the immigration stance of Ben Sullivan.

Sullivan decided not to nominate a candidate for Leader, he has made it clear however, that he would like to see his vision continued. He has also been quoted in the past as a supporter of West taking the leadership.

Early opinion polling:

Wilson: 43%
West 28%
McQueen: 18%
Travis: 7%
McNeil: 4%

Final results:

First Round:
Aaron West: 42%
Ellesha Wilson: 35%
Richard Travis: 11%
Renee McQueen: 9%
Tara McNeil: 3%

Second Round:
Aaron West: 43%
Ellesha Wilson: 36%
Richard Travis: 11%
Renee McQueen: 11%

Third Round:
Ellesha Wilson: 45%
Aaron West: 44%
Richard Travis: 11%

Fourth Round:
Aaron West: 50.2%
Ellesha Wilson: 49.8%

Aaron West elected Leader of the TUSC.

West and Wilson pledged to work together to bring the TUSC further gains at the next election. West pledged a new, fresh front bench as he sought to bring the Party back together.
