SDP launches campaign with party political broadcast from Adderley
Image
Image

FORT WILLIAM, ORANGE — SDP leader John Adderley yesterday launched his party's campaign directly to millions of viewers on LBC One and Two, starting
with a vigorous attack on the White Rose-Imperialist coalition government. Mr. Adderley accused the government of being economically illiterate and said
that the two parties had left vital public services drastically underfunded; Luthori currently spends $40 billion on healthcare and welfare, a number he
pledged to increase tenfold—if his party wins the election, that is.

For the past fifty years the White Rose and Imperialists have dominated Luthorian politics, interrupted only by surges for left-wing protest parties that
collapse by the next election—but now there seems to be a serious, long-term threat to right-wing dominance of Luthori. Mr. Adderley declared, quoting
the national anthem, that he and his party "will not cease from mental fight, nor shall our swords sleep in our hands, till we have built Yishelem in Luthori's
green and pleasant land."

Mr. Adderley lambasted the government not only on matters of domestic and economic policy, but also on Luthori's international position. Once the world's
foremost great power, the last report from the Zardic Institute of International Affairs declared that Luthori was no longer a regional power, but instead a
middle power. And with their leader's talk of making Luthori a power to be reckoned with once more, the SDP seems on course to win the votes of Luthorian
patriots. And that, along with the SDP's natural constituency in the working and lower middle classes, could be enough to win them the election.

Prime Minister Harry Franklin resigns after terrible results!

Under a government press conference the Prime Minister announced his and the communist cabinet members resignations. This did not come as a big surprise, because of how the election results turned out. The now caretaker government is headed by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs; Emma Nilsson who is temporarily Acting Prime Minister. She announced at the press conference that she will do whatever it takes to keep the government functioning until a new one has been voted for. The Acting Prime Minister Nilsson has also appointed acting cabinet members from the National Democratic Alliance.

Conservative Right and the government wins with a landslide!

As the votes where gathered it became clear the that population were in agreement with Charles William Urquhart, 78 years old. As her daughter, Wilma Urquhart once more for a third time in her life was elected president. The right wing coalition under Conservative Right continues to rule Luthori.

"My friends. We have come a long way in defending our great nation. All that remains is to bring back the monarchy. To bring Luthori back to greatness!"

The Conservative Right youth party paraded outside of the prime minister's residence singing the national anthem and several conservative songs.

The Communist Party calls for nation wide strikes!

On the 7th of August began nation wide strikes called by the Communist Party of Luthori, after the party had talked with trade union leaders who have fiercely voiced their concerns about the Liberalization of the Markets Act 4614. The strikes have severely damaged the stability of the Luthorian economy. This is what the CPL announced before the strikes began:
The Communist Party of Luthori has met with trade union leaders to start an unlimited general strike, starting on the 7th of August, 4614.
Almost all the trade union leaders are disgruntled by the new Liberalisation of the markets act 4614, which is nothing but a pure infringement on the rights of the workers and a helping hand to the most despicable capitalists.

We will also hold massive protests every week all across the country.

We are also calling every party that opposes this law to join us.

We are asking for an immediate repealing of this law, which is a real social regression. The right to strike will soon be limited while daily working hours will be ... unlimited! That is not acceptable to us. The real people's strength will soon arise. We will KICK this fascist government OUT OF POWER.

WORKERS, ARISE! IT IS TIME TO DEFEND YOUR RIGHTS!

A trade union currently on strike

The Government has taken the situation very seriously going so far as to propose a bill of nationalizing the trade unions for six months. This is what a Conservative Right MP had to say:
Mr Speaker,

With the massive communist influence on the Trade unions we will now take steps to limit those in order to preserve our democracy and prevent the rule of mob. This is a temporary bill that will only last for six months after it has passed. After which the Trade unions will be returned to private organisations. But the influence the communist party holds over the unions is unacceptable. While we still want to protect workers rights we think this is the only path forward. Leadership in the nationalised unions will be changed and any support for the strike called off.

In CPL's communiqué they called for the other parties who voted against the Liberalization of the Markets Act 4614 to also join the strikes, and the only other party who voted against the bill was the NDA and this is what their party secretary, Saiya Daeva had to say at the recent press conference:
Our response to CPL's call to join the strikes is that the centre-right faction of the NDA will NOT engage in these protests but will support them passively, on the other hand, what the centre-left faction does is up to them as they have not yet responded towards these strikes.

Now we find the CR's response to these strikes as quite cunning by trying to nationalize the Unions, what the NDA will do in that regard has not been decided yet but we will come back with an answer, thank you.

On the 7th of August, the general strike started in Luthori. Also, the CPL demonstrations started on the 14th of August ended up in riots. The calm seems to be back but there could be new protests and riots if the situation is not appeased.

This week, most of the trade unions in Luthori announced that they will call for a general strike on Monday, in two weeks.
The call was made following the 15 % reduction in pensions and unemployed benefits.
According to recent opinion polls, the government is predicted to lose its majority if the HLC is not included, while new small parties are projected to enter the Diet if an election was due tomorrow.
Diana Lilliath announced that the CPL fully supported the strikes. She also stressed that the SDP was "no more a centre-left party" because of the SDP voted in favour of the budget cuts in social security.

Trade Unions on strikes!

An announcement was made from many trade unions all around Luthori that they would go on strike against the budget cut in Health and Social Services the government passed through the Imperial Diet, the government did this so they could fund the increase in Education the Social Democratic Party wanted for their cooperation as confidence and supply.

Imperator Robert Redmond spoke in television in response to these strikes:
These strikes are illegal and will be met with force. Any deaths and injuries will be due to the CPL' wreck less promotion of strikes. I am urging these paid protesters to stand down or face the Might of the Empire.

After the Imperators declaration the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs said this at a press conference respectively:
The strikes called by the Communist Party will be met with resistance. The CPL does not understand democracy and thinks that they can get anything they want by calling strikes, let me tell you that this Government and this Empire will not submit to these undemocratic actions.

After consulting with the Prime Minister and His Excellency the Imperator, we will use the Military through the 'National Security Act' to handle the detainment of the protesters. We encourage all Luthorians to stay inside their homes as the protests might by a high chance escalate into violence.

David Owens III from the SDP said this in a press conference:
As most of you know our party for 20 years stressed free and open education. We fought for an increase in education funding, the communist have killed it time and time again. They want a protest but I’ve spoken with the three largest unions and all agreed not to strike because they know that social care is still funded. We are in contact with teacher unions who support the budget. We represent the center of politics not the far left or far right.

The CPL has responded to the accusations that they rallied the strikers with a declaring that the CPL had nothing to do with the strikers protesting and that it was all their actions against the government's budget cut. Though many political commentators and experts have said that the CPL's influence over the trade unions is greater than one might believe, even though the Urquhart Cabinet II nationalized the trade unions to remove the communist influence, the CPL sees the trade unions as their private army and will never let their hold of them go away.

Second day of strikes
According to the Spokesperson of the National Confederation of Luthorian Workers Max Crouch, "the cup is full" Image
Along with many other trade unions, we are calling for a second general strike next Monday. The government doesn't want to hear us, so we have to keep putting the pressure. Do not listen to the lies of the government, they cannot stop us, the right to strike is written in the law. We demand a repealing of all previous laws concerning budget cuts on social spending. That should be a good start.

We interviewed some citizens about how they feel concerning the strike.
I won't go, the CPL is disrupting the work of every government they do not like, while not making things better when they are in power.
according to Ann, a 46 years old mother.

When I think about what this government has done, this is disgusting. Our salaries are not increasing, pensions are reduced, there is no assistance for the unemployed. We need to fight against this and I'll go on strike.
said Henri, a 63 years-old blue-collar worker.

I don't know, I never liked politics. But it's sure that if the government keeps making budget cuts where people need them, I'll be going on strike.
according to John, a 25 years-old cashier.

On the other side, the police forces are prepared, according to Ted Clay, the Chief of the Police Department in Luthori.
There is a right to strike, but excesses won't be tolerated.

More members of the Communist Party keep encouraging the strikers. Diana Lilliath addressed the communist militants on social medias.
The government cannot cope with half the country going on strike. We need to make it fall and Robert Redmond has to resign. The easiest way to settle this is an early election and the government knows it.

Trade unions call for an unlimited general strike

After 2 days of strikes and the brutal response of the government, most trade unions decide to go all out on strikes and declare an unlimited general strike!
Seeing that the government did not answer to their concerns, especially about the decrease in pensions, trade union leaders are outraged.

The government still doesn't want to negotiate with the trade unions, will that new burst of strikes change their mind?
According to the political analyst Josh Macguire, this is typical of the far-right.
Every democratic government would hear the revendications of the strikers. But the far-right in Luthori, despite being popular, continues to defend a political system with a strong executive and weak counter powers.

The Police Department of Luthori confirms that making unlimited strikes is illegal and that they will crackdown against the strikers on the third day.
Many fear that the suppression of the strikes might degenerate and cause bloodbaths.

Violent strikers clashes with the military police!

Image
Image of the strikes

Early in the protests the strikers violently attacked the military police with reportedly 14 serious injuries conflicted upon both police officers and military police and with two near deaths of civilian polices. This violence has been heavily denounced by the government and with these words from Sara Milly, the Minister of Internal Affairs:
These strikers claim to support democracy when they in fact use fascist methods to show their thoughts, it very saddening but this government will not back down to violent anti-freedom supporters and we also urge the CPL to call the strikes off as to avoid actual deaths.

There has also been reports of extremely violence between the protesters and the counter protesters. The citizens of Fort William has now raised their concerns of not being able to effectively go to work or leave their children at schools because of these protests and many pleads the trade unions to call them back as they are disrupting society and daily lives.

This is what some citizens had to say:
These communists are disrupting our lives... it really got to me when my son asked me why we couldn't celebrate his 7th year birthday on his favorite restaurant. Please call these unnecessary strikes back so we all can enjoy our lives and birthdays.
Alexander, a 39 years-old family man

The one who's at fault here is the government. They shouldn't make cuts to the budget were people need them, what the government is doing is taking Health and Social Services hostage. I will definitely not vote for the far-right in 4628, but then again the CPL with all their strikes and especially the violent ones is really concerning for the future of this country, I'm actually considering not voting in the next election but we'll see.
Elsa, a 31 year-old musician

The CPL should stop terrorizing the society and let the government finally work efficiently. Luthori haven't had a government for two years before we got the Daeva Cabinet and now the CPL wants to take them down because they aren't doing what they like... it is extremely disgusting! They claim to fight for the people then take back the strikers and let the people live their lives in a functioning society!
Otto, a 56 year-old industry worker.

Prime Minister Edward Daeva had this to say during a press conference concerning the strikes:
This government now warns the CPL that if they won't call back the strikes even after all time low cuts have been made to Health and Social Services, the government will use brutal and total force against them, so to display the might of the Empire to future threats who wish to oppose it internally and externally.
