Union Bay Press: Dawn of the Grand Society
PM Abbott and President Durant have together announced the "Grand Society" after the Federalists' massive election win.

In a press statement, Durant said: "Let the people choose how they want to live. Give them options".

The plan entails a system of capitalism without harming the welfare of the people, harming the nation's surplus and allowing a voluntary opt-out of government programs.

End of an Economic Era?
The 3 party cabinet proposal supported by the Federalists, DUM and Traditionalists has one major apppointment:

Instead of John Amos Mattox III, who has chaired the finance ministry since the days of PM Erwin Smith, the proposed Minister of Finance will be Harold Chandler, a veteran from the Brooks leadership of the Union Party.

This has not come without a small row within the party, but parliamentary leadership have accepted the new arrangement.

The Federalist Party is Reborn
Image
Mr. Burke Armstrong, a political activist and lawyer from Bamburgh, has announced that he has founded a new Federalist Party-- finally giving writers at The Federalist Gazette something interesting to write about! The Federalists have not held a single seat in Parliament in 34, and there has not been a Federalist President since Alistair Durant left office in 5111-- 42 years. Mr. Armstrong has announced that he will be seeking the presidency. He has the support of several prominent Federalist leaders, including John Amos Mattox. At 123 years old, Mr. Mattox is the oldest-living, longest-surviving former Prime Minister and Financial Secretary. Born in 5030 during the late Dorothy Winthrop's rise to power in the party, Mattox is a progressive Federalist that controlled the nation's banks and money supply for decades, making him one of the best-known names in politics.
"I am very happy to give Burke my endorsement," Mr. Mattox said in a video statement posted to his social media accounts. "Reviving the Federalist Party has been a dream-- no, an ideal of mine for quite some time. But finding the right person to do it has been hard. Burke is a grassroots man, his early years were spent in the Durant Administration, and he knows how well we handled things. He's got my blessing to restart the party, and I'm sure he'll do splendidly well."

The Federalist Party Triumphs!
Image
In a shocking turn of events, the Federalist Party has taken 40% of all seats and successfully elected Burke Armstrong, 57, to the presidency. With the entire party being a poorly-funded campaign, the nation has been shocked at the party's immediate success. "Polls were pointing to a victory for incumbents, with us possibly picking up a seat or two," Federalist strategist Harold Hart said in a statement. "No one was expecting this! 40% of seats and the presidency on the first try?"

Federalists across the nation have rejoiced while their supporters celebrated the surprise with great delight. John Amos Mattox, 123, has also celebrated the victory as a sign that "Federalism Today, Federalism Tomorrow, Federalism Forever" is more than a rallying cry. "It's a reality, really," he said in a press conference. "I served for decades as Finance Minister; I served a few years as Prime Minister. I know how this story goes. The Federalist Party is back, and it's stronger than ever. On a legislative level, this is our largest landslide ever. For the presidency, it was a small wave election. The people support our agenda. They support Federalism. President Armstrong will give it to them."

Cabinet Proposal Passed Years After Election
Image
After nearly two years of deliberation, a Cabinet proposal has finally been passed that includes the Federalists, the Vanguard Party, and the Progressive Hosiani Party. The proposal was passed after several proposals failed to pass. President Armstrong, who had been pushing for a unitary Cabinet, caved and built a less diverse Cabinet. "It's ridiculous that I had to do this; I didn't want to do this, but now I have. We're a group of three parties-- one of which isn't in the legislature-- and now our government is as divided as ever.

Blame for political division is largely placed on the shoulders of the Beluzian Anarchist Party, who issued a Cabinet that included every party barring the Federalists. As President Armstrong took 40.45% of the popular vote in the first round (taking 53.79% in the second) and the party as a whole took 39.98% of the vote in legislative seats (a 300-seat gain for the party). The BAP issued a statement after Federalists attacked the proposal, saying, "The people deserve a shared government of several unique parties of several unique ideologies uniting together as one. In previous cabinet proposals, The Federalist Party has designated numerous responsibilities to themselves, as they believe their "superior" ideology is what the people deserve. It is our belief that The Federalist Party wishes to dominate the government for themselves, only allowing other parties about half of the total positions. This new cabinet proposal is designed to allow each party included to express their ideologies freely, fairly, and for the most part, equally, without requiring a top party to restrict them and dominate them."

The Federalists responded by pointing to their landslide victory-- something that the Vanguard Party and the Progressive Hosiani backed the Federalists on. It is believed that this support is what resulted in the successful proposal that has now built a Cabinet. "Our biggest goal is passing a new budget," President Armstrong said in a statement. "Emily Thomas is our Finance Minister now; she follows the same economic policies of John Mattox to the letter. I'm sure she's going to be the best person for the job."

John Amos Mattox III, Idol of the Federalist Movement, Dead at 131
Image
Having fallen like a mighty pine in a great forest in the old world, John Amos Mattox III-- a long-time Federalist, a retired member of Parliament, and former Finance Minister-- has died at 131.

Mattox was born in 5032 during the presidency of NH Sardar, a member of the PPPB. A descendant of a very old family, Mattox was educated at Hepburn-Smith University, named for former President Cassandra Hepburn-Smith, a member of the Federalist Party (then known as the Unionist Party). Mattox was educated in economics and finance over the next few years and took a position working for several major banks until he first ran for office in 5056. Mattox proved to be a titan of monetary policy early in his career, first being appointed Finance Minister in 5056. Mattox served as Finance Minister until 5107-- a record 51 consecutive years. During this time, Mattox cut taxes, increased corporate tax rates, decreased inflation, stable currency, and more. The success of the modern Beluzian financial system can largely be placed at the feet of Mattox.

In 5107, Mattox was asked by President Alistair Durant (a Federalist) to serve as Prime Minister for the remainder of his presidency. Mattox agreed, serving until Durant's retirement in 5111. Mattox ran for president himself, but failed, garnering a mere 14.24% of the vote in the first round. (For context, Durant earned 40.02% in the first round, holding 68.56% in the second). Having declined to run for Parliament again to seek his presidential ambitions, Mattox never returned to the Cabinet, though several asked that he seek office again and return to the post of Finance Minister. Instead, Mattox served as an elder statesman and helped rebuild the party in 5155.

The Federalist Party has requested permission to have Mattox lay in state at the Capitol as a thank you to Mattox for his long-time service and dedication to the nation; the motion is likely to be approved. His great-grandson, John Amos Mattox IV, 33, is now the de facto leader of the party's Old Guard and Progressives. As the sole surviving member of the Mattox family, MP Mattox has inherited the vast wealth of his great-grandfather.
