Kuznetsov Welcomes the Adamsons With Open Arms

Yuri Kuznetsov, Beluzia's hardline Foreign Minister, has welcomed the Adamsons with open arms. He represents the Karavs in their absence. The Karavs are in Telamon, at the moment, but they plan to dine with the Adamsons as soon as they return.

August 3332

High Priestess Wins the Title of High Countess!

PORT TACKSTOV - It is a turbulent times for Beluzia, at least for the nobles sitting in the Federal Council of Nobles. In merely two years since the last election, the political environment of this county experienced dramatic change. The infamous "Blue Coalition" crumbled after the heel face turn, and subsequent decline of the House of Astredies; the House of David silently retreated from the politics of Beluzia, and the return of the Adamsons after a long vacation in Gaduridos. However, as the results of the election in August 3332 was revealed, the one who holds the new title of High Count surprised most political analysts, for the crown ends up not on the head of the men of the old nobles. Indeed, it is not a man at all.

A clan of religion leaders turned political nobles, the Takanashi Clan arrived in Beluzia after centuries of exile from the fallen Empire of Gao-Soto, who also brought their religion of Kiyomism with them to this county. While the religion claims to have a long history in Beluzia, the ruling clan did not enter political scene until 3329 under the new spiritual leader of Lady Aoi Takanashi.

Bearing the banner of Gao-Showan religious fanatism with a fascist flavour, Takanashi Clan did not win much support in its first election, with little more than 30 thousand people, most of them followers of their denomination, voting for the high water priestess. However, in a twist of events, what brings the Gioshotoi clan onto the throne of High Count is the big government stance related with its religious viewpoint. With almost half of the electors from Bailon Parish voting for the eagle clan in 3332, it, along with the returning Adamsons, shares the title of the "big two", while the maiden becomes the first High Countess of Beluzia since its foundation.

Soon after the surprising results entered the public population, our reporters manage to find the newly-elected High Countess during her return from worship in a local Kiyomist shrine. A woman with few words, the young lady expressed her gratitude to her supporters and herd, as well as the Karav Dynasty, who offered their full support to her and her clan. Later press releases from Takanashi Clan announced several minor changes proposed to the new Federal Council, including the change of title to better reflect the gender of the Head of State. A draft of a new cabinet is also in debating process, of which Takanashi Clan believes support from their colleagues, especially Karav Dynasty, will help them to rule the county.

Since their ascensions to the seat of Parish Governor of Bailon, religious bills have been passed in the Parish to enforce their religious stance and to convert more to their Way of Purification. While no such moves on the federal level has been proposed, political spectators believe such events will be inevitable, even though the chance of them passing in the mostly-secular Federal Council is slim.

Trivia Corner: The name of the High Countess, Lady Aoi Takanashi is pronounced: /a.o.i/, or ah-or-ee. It is the word for alcea in Standard Gao-Showa. Similarly, her sister in the clan, Anko, is named after apricot. Other female high-ranking clan members, especially those of close relatives of Lady Takanashi, are mostly named similarly after flowers and plants, and many of them also share the rule of using only three kanas in their given name. It is believed to be a clan tradition, as the emblem of Kiyomism, the religious denomination of kamism, also utilises an unnamed five-petal flower as part of it.

Triumphant Return of the Astredies: A New Age for Beluzia?

PORT TACKSTOV - Political turbulence in Beluzia continues, as another early election has been called for and passed. Similar to the 3332 election, where the withdrawal of the Davids and the Astredies following the fall of the Blue Coalition ends up with a federal council with only 60% seats filled, the retreat of the Adamson Kinsfolk after a government budget dispute makes the new Takanashi government hanging with half of the cabinet left, forcing another early election after less than a year after its ascension.

The ten-month government of Takanashi-Adamson is not very stable, presumably due to the lack of political experience of the high priestess Aoi, as well as the aftermath of the fall of several noble houses destablising the general environment. With the long-lasting Blue Coalition falling apart in 3332, half of the federal council, as well as three Parishes out of five were suddenly governed by two noble houses that just appeared mere years ago. The unbalanced situation is believed to be what caused the resignation of the Adamson Minister of Finance, as well as the entire kinsfolk shortly afterwards. Combined with the return of the House of Astredies, the idea of another early election, which has been around even since the election ended, was bought up again and quickly passed.

The election result greatly shifted the balance of power once again, with the House of Astredies winning all but one Parishes, as well as the laurel of the largest house in the council. Takanashi Clan, although criticised by its increasing radical bills and problematic cabinet administration, maintained its hold on the Parish of Bailon, as well as the title of the second largest house in council with only the loss of one seat.

Political analysts suggest the dramatic change of seats and parish governors during the last two elections as the results of the fall of Blue Coalition, of which has been a prominent political force in Beluzia for centuries. Without a counterbalance for the royalist faction or a house to take up the mantle of the tories, the relatively new Takanashi Clan and Adamson Kinsfolk was pushed into the position of power without a stable foundation, ultimately causing the rise of the Astredies as the Adamsons left Beluzia once again. With its support, Nick I of the Williams was crowned as the High Count once again.

Will the rise of the House of Astredies finally stablise the aftermath of the fall of the Stantons? Or will yet another political alliance rise from the lesser houses and restore the balance of power? No one can say for sure. However, what is certain is that the political climate of Beluzia is sure to undergo a change after decades, if not centuries, of relative stability.

Coalition Confirmation Demanded in Beluzia!

Kristov I, now coming of age, is calling for political stability by suggesting alliances.
He believes the House of Astredies should remain allies with the Stanton House for the sake of the Blue coalition, and supporters of Kristov II (including Nick I, and hopefully the Takanashi Clan) will remain in the Royalist coalition.

Return of Takanashi - A Divination for the High Priestess Herself?

ILIATHAR STRAIT, BAILON - Another early election has been held merely two months after the last election, following the departure of the Rakyta House from Beluzia soon after it gained the majority of the voters of the county. For many, it might have been yet another usual political turbulence in the post-blue Beluzia, but it spells differently for the ruling Takanashi Clan.

Since its second ever election into the Federal Council of Nobles, the Takanashi Clan has been holding the Kunihito-dominated parish of Bailon, of which many estates and lands have been ancestral lands of Takanashi and other allied clans. In the past, those clans had been supporting other parties and houses due to the lack of political representative of their own, but since the Takanashi Clan entered the election, many of them have pledged to support their brethren ever since. That is, before the rise of Rakyta house and the election of June 3335, where the Takanashi lost the regional throne of Bailon.

There are many speculations for the reasons the high priestess lost support from the local clans, ranging from infighting between secular clans and the religious Kiyomists, to the disagreement between the (relatively) moderate Takanashi Clan and the more fanatic and radical traditionalists. There are probably no single reason for the brief transfer of regional throne from the Kunihito clan, but it is quite certain that the Takanashi has learnt its lessons, as the new series of acts proposed by it in the council earlier this week showed a noticeable shift towards a more radical isolationist and regulator platform. In particular, an act that repealed a motion for wider refugee support was submitted by Takanashi Clan itself after supporting the previous motion by the Williams family, a crucial choice that might have costed Takanashi Clan the support for the isolationist Bailonese.

Political speculators suggest that the regain of Bailon after the fall of Rakyta House, as well as the rising support for the Stantons, might have eased the radicalisation of Takanashi Clan, and such trend will end after this term should nothing of noteworthy happened. However, many Bailonese clans, as well as estate governors supporting Takanashi Clan again, cheer for the "return to tradition" of Aoi, suggesting that these invisible pressure might force the crowned priestess to continue the reactionary policies.

Acting Internal Affairs Minister of Beluzia, Grand Stewardess Iroha Takanashi, did not comment on this when our reporters approached her after her proposal for a royalist cabinet with the Williams and Karav.

Death of Kristov I

Image
Kristov I

Kristov I, one of Beluzia's most popular public figures in the recent centuries, is dead. He died in Telamon at the age of 83.
He had been in Telamon since the birth of his grandson, Kristov David DeKarav, who will be more popularly known as "Kristov III"

Kristov III is 7 years old as of 3338. He will return to Beluzia with his parents, Celeste and Kristov II.
Celeste and her husband have been travelling between Beluzia and Telamon for the past few years. They conducted business in Beluzia, but raised their son around his relatives among the Arindi family and their friends, the Kansars.

Sarita Gauri DeKarav-Bushnell, the late Count's older sister, is being hospitalized for heart failure. The South Beluzia Journalism Forum sends condolences to her.

--

The late Count was known for his militant attire and his aggressive mannerisms in debates. He was known to be impatient at times, but very benevolent. He handed over the throne to his son, Kristov II, before he died, saying he just wanted to live to see him sit on the throne instead of forcing him to wait too long. Kristov II is no less great than his father. His first term on the throne lasted 11 years and 11 months, which was exactly the same time as all of Kristov I's 3 terms combined.

Both are advocates of Beluzian neutrality, and high-level diplomacy. The Karavs were friends of both Alec Mason and Emperor William V; something shocking and unexpected. All foreign leaders are welcome to visit the memorial which will be built in 3339. Interested leaders are allowed to visit for the funeral.

February 3339

The Eagle Lands on Negunia

PORT NEGUNIA, NEGUNIA - Following the official final result of the election, the Takanashi Clan not only hold their ancestral seats in Bailon, but have also gain a majority of the estate in the parish of Negunia, the traditional land of the Stanton House.

Similar to the previous election, the results of the election in February 3339 ends in the parishes under the control of the House of Barbossa, Takanashi Clan, and Williams Family, with the former two becoming the largest parties, each holding approximately 25% of the seats within the federal council. What differs is that the Barbossa, previously holding three parishes out of five, lose the parish of Negunia to Takanashi Clan, marking the spread of Gao-Showan dominance into mainland Beluzia. While the Barbossa and Takanashi together control more than half of the federal council, as well as all but one parish (Ilithar), the differences between the two noble houses are greater than between any houses in Beluzia, and thus most speculators do not expect a parliament being controlled by an alliance of the two clans.

Apart from it, there are rumours that the House of Barbossa is supported by the Stanton House and, by extension, the Blue Coalition. With the downfall of the blues and its support towards Barbossa, it might prove to be the signs of a new political environment of Beluzia, with Takanashi and Barbossa effectively leading the royalists and the blues, respectively.

with the new political factions being speculated, neither leading houses have expressed their stance yet. Soon after the election, our reporters manage to find Iroha Takanashi, Grand Stewardess of Takanashi Clan, as well as our Minister of Internal Affairs. She did not comment on the victory on her clan, apart from expressing gratitude to their supporters and followers. Her arrival to Port Negunia is said to be for the official appointment of the Ichinomiya (first shrine) of Negunia, which will serve as both the main Kiyomist shrine in Negunia, as well as the de facto ruling estate of Negunia for the Takanashi Clan.

Religious Reforms in Negunia: The Birth of Gao-Showan Negunia?

PORT NEGUNIA, NEGUNIA - It has been three years since the arrival of the Takanashi Clan to Port Negunia as the governor of the county of Negunia. Since its first work as the local authority to recognise the Umidamari Shrine as the main Kiyomist shrine in Negunia, and thus the de facto seat of power for the religious clan in Negunia (called "Northern Okamae-kuni and Okanaka-kuni", according to the traditional geographic division of Beluz Gao-Showa), there has been major works by the ruling clan to promote Kiyomism in this piece of mainland Beluzia, with the not-so-subtle goal of transforming it in the image of Bailon, or the ideal vision of a Kiyomist society.

With the end of the mandatory military service in Beluzia, the plan for the Takanashi suffered a small blow, but the general transformation project is not hampered much, as the establishment of numerous Kiyomist schools and shrines across effectively every city and towns in Negunia showed. As the owner of many private Bailonese companies, as well as being supported by many Gao-Showa communities, funding and support for these religious institutions are abundant, if not disclosed. Apart from influx of money and religious teachers from Bailon, there are also rumours that Takanashi Clan has been funding the migration of Kiyomist Bailonese to Negunia to settle, even build their own religious enclaves in this land, all in the name of spreading their faith and establishing an ever-lasting foothold, even if the seat of authority might be lost in future elections.

Apart from the increase of religious enclaves and institutions across Negunia, there are also many amendments of local laws pushed by Takanashi Clan and its newly-gained supporters. Almost all laws that are to be regulated by local governments have been changed in accord to the religious viewpoint of Kiyomism, and many of them succeed in implementation, by both the authority and the religious communities, who also have a sizable influence on the local military by the use of "spiritual guides" within, which are effectively Kiyomist priestesses with the authority to "advise" the military on spiritual matters. It should be noted that, however, Kiyomism seems to be more relax on social matters such as abortion and alcohol beverage than many religions in Terra, including the full embrace of homosexuality, which is actually something required in one point of a traditional passage to adulthood for Bailonese Gao-Showans.

There is a dark side of the religious paradise promoted by Takanashi Clan, though. Although no official judgements have been made, there are many cases of lynching against opposing houses and religions in Negunia since the ascension of Takanashi Clan, targeting members of the Blue Coalition and non-Gao-Showan religions. What is alarming is that not only is the local authority choose to be oblivious to such assaults, there are rumours that the authority itself is sponsoring the act of lynching, with the provision of firearms used by shrine warriors of Takanashi Clan.

Whether these religious policies will be in place in the long run, and whether it will permanently transform Negunia into "mainland Bailon" remains to be seen, as the authority of Takanashi Clan in Negunia is still unstable, and all of its works might be undone should Negunia is lost to another houses that are not approval of these policies.

Takanashi Loses Negunia: Return of the Old Order?

PORT NEGUNIA, NEGUNIA - The union election of February 3343 have ended the 4-year rule of the Takanashi Clan in the county of Negunia. In fact, with all but 2 seats still controlled by nobles in align with the Gao-Showan houses, many of its influence within the local authority is gone over-night. However, across the entire union, the clan has obtained more seats than ever, scoring at 29 seats out of the 99 seats of the federal council of nobles.

It is speculated that while the stance on civil rights of the Takanashi Clan gained many supporters before, it is not entirely in-line with the Negunian population as far as the details concerned, especially those regarding religions and religious tenets. The influx of Kunihito in Negunia, rumoured to be sponsored by the authority, as well as the fast increase of Kiyomist followers, might also have swayed the local population from the religious houses from Bailon.

During the morning worship in the Umidamari Shrine in Port Negunia, our reporters managed to contact a high-ranking priestess-noble of Takanashi Clan in Negunia. While she believes that there are noticeable difference in opinions between the clan and the population, she states that the clan will continue its preach of morality and culture in Negunia and other counties of Beluzia, and will protect her herd as well, by force if necessary.

Unanimous Vote on Missionary Repeal!

The Karavs managed to attract 100% support, from the federal council, for a repeal of the Astredies' Religious Reform policy that reduced bureaucracy relating to missionary visits. While being mostly anti-bureaucracy, the Karavs believed it was necessary that missionaries be registered for their own saftey while visiting Beluzia. Unlike regular tourists, missionaries attract great deals of attention, and that can include unwanted attention. By the time a mob forms, the government would be able to do nothing about it.

The issue has been debated multiple times, but this is the first time either alternative (registration or non-registration) received 100% support:
January 3319 - 52% of the council voted in favour of registration
February 3319 - 52% of the council voted in favour of registration
July 3328 - 54% of the council voted against registration
November 3330 - 39% of the council voted in favour of registration; only 37% voted against
July 3342 - 49% of the council voted against registration, but only 36% voted against
March 3344 - the entire council agreed on registration, even those who were initially against it
