Today, hidden away from the public eye, a man and a women became husband and wife, and with that became a royal couple. After the private ceremony, only attended by members of the Keymon Royal family and members of the Lourennais royal family, the couple left St. Grandinetti’s Cathedral and headed towards there new home, the Royal Palace. As the gates of the Royal Palace closed, and as the guards greeted there new Queen, a new chapter of Keymon history was written.

Little is know about the wedding ceremony between King Gaudino and Princess Améilie II, as it was closed to anyone not related to either party. However, how the relationship between the King and his now bride started, has been told to us by an insider source. The relationship began following a diplomatic mission headed from Eroncourt to Turtle Bay to discuss the sail of exotic fishes. Princess Améilie was the official royal representative on this diplomatic meeting. She and the King met at this diplomatic conference and immediately, according to this source, became friends and began discussing other diplomatic and economic matters. Whilst the discussion concerning exotic fish sales lasted around 30 minutes, Princess Améilie and King Gaudino talked for around 2 and a half-hours. The two went, alongside the rest of the diplomats present, to a restaurants to celebrate the agreement over dinner. Following this, the diplomatic staff began to pack up there belongings and prepare for the 12 hour flight back to Lourenne. However before they left, the King told Princess Améilie that she could come back at anytime and visit. Following this encounter, the two had an on-and-off relationship for around 4-6 months before King Gaudino finally offered Princess Améilie a room in the Royal Palace to act as her secondary home, away from Lourenne. This led to the Princess slowly starting to begin living solely in the Royal Palace with her now boyfriend, King Gaudino. After three years of dating and talks between both royal families, the pair eventually decided to get married, which ties the Keymon and Lourennais monarchies even closer (although Princess Améilie is from the cadet branch of the Orléans-Vasser-Deux-Rivières that was once the House of Kanjor, which means she is not in the line of succession to the throne of Lourenne).

Royal experts have differing opinions as to why the King decided to make his wedding a secret and why he kept his relationship with Princess Améilie a secret up until the wedding, however many have speculated that the King’s previous romantics attempts had been harmed by the press. The Royal Family would not be made available for comment and refused to discuss the matter with the press. When asked if Princess Améilie would become Queen Améilie, royal experts stated that whilst she is now the husband of the King and is therefore considered a co-monarch, she is not in line for succession to the Keymonite throne upon the passing of the king. Therefore, she is known as ‘Queen Consort’. There children, however, will be eligible for succession.

King Gaudino Gives Speech Concerning D-777 Crash

As the flames were finally being put out by Valruzian firefighters and as the dead where being counted, as the shock of the survivors wore away, a new reality had set in. A reality in which the deaths of nearly 20 of our own people was caused my a mistake as simple as fault landing gears. The reaction of the Keymon public to the faulty design work New Dawn Aerospace and Defense of has been less than positive, to say the least. Protests broke out in front of the Likatonian Embassy in Turtle Bay, with protestors demanding the Likatonian government reimburse the victims families. The protest soon became heated as rocks and bottles where thrown against the embassies windows and walls. Ultimately, the Royal Riot Police had to disperse the crowd via emergency declaration. With so much passion and anger on this subject, how could the King possibly respond in a way that not only consoled the victims but kept a diplomatic tone?

We saw how the king did it last night, as he, using temporary emergency powers, took over all TV stations to deliver his address. Dressed in all black, with black curtains drawn across his window, gave the scene a macabre tone. The usually lively and talkative King was now silent. As the cameras focused in on him and the last murmurs of cameramen went out, the King began his speech:

My fellow Keymonites, a tragedy has stricken and deeply effected us. Last week, a D-777 passenger airliner operated by Keymon Airways, upon attempting to land at Gryfitów-Topolin International Airport, crashed…killing 33 people, 23 of whom where Keymonite civilians and crew members. Those men and women boarded that plane with the belief that not only the crew, but also the aircraft they where riding in, would keep them safe. Whilst that flight crew held up there promise and safely evacuated the wounded and unscathed out of the aircraft…the D-777 did not uphold it’s promise of safe air travel for those who rode it last week. The D-777, according to preliminary reports by the Valruzian Civilian Aviation Committee, crashed due to poor design choices for the aircraft, specifically it’s airframe. To think, that 33 people died because of poor airframe design makes me…

This crash was caused by the design of the D-777. It had flaws that the producers, New Dawn Aerospace and Defense, knew about. They sold us faulty aircraft…an aircraft that has just killed 23 of our countrymen. Let it be known that, as of today, the ANSV has begun a temporary ban on any New Dawn aircrafts entering Keymonite aerospace. These aircraft obviously have flaws that need to be addressed by the company urgently…no actually, these design flaws should’ve been addressed when they came up in testing, not after they sold us the fucking things!

…I sincerely apologize for my outburst. I, alongside all of you, have been deeply effected by this crash and feel great pain for those who lost family in this accident. Let this be known, the Ministry of Finance will began reimbursing the families of the victims for this loss.

I would like to personally thank Valruzian Prime Minister Anna Vinciguerra, who sent out condolences to the victims families and offered her full support for them. Your words have helped the Keymonite people and myself through this difficult time. I would also like to thank the CAC for investigating this urgent matter.

To the people of Keymon, let it be known that action is being taken. All D-777’s currently owned by Keymon Airways have been shipped back to New Dawn Aerospace and Defense for inspection. After the inspection, the company will keep the aircraft. We will not be flying the D-777 on any Keymon Airways air routes. We will be finding the cause of this and, when we do, we will make whoever is responsible pay.

This is a difficult time. But, we must prevail. We cannot give up. Not now, not ever. We will prevail!

Queen Amélie II Gives Birth to Baby Girl, Princess Éva Catena

As the cameras stay transfixed onto the hospital doors, a quite fills the air around the nation. Traffics has come to a crawl, calls have ceased, and televisions have come alight in almost every building. Then, just as the shadow of the hospital begins to show near the doors, the royal couple come forth. One in a wheelchair, holding a tightly swathed baby. The other pushing her to there bulletproof, security vehicles. As the vehicles slowly drives off, the Royal Speaker (the man who gives statements on behalf of the royal family) announces the news millions have waited for. He announces, whilst looking directly at the cameras, that Queen Amélie II has given birth to a healthy baby girl and that she has been named…Princess Éva Catena. As the announcement rings out from the speakers microphone, cheers and clapping erupt throughout the streets as Keymonites celebrate the birth of the presumed heir to the royal throne (she will only inherit the throne if she does not have a baby brother). As the last of the cheers fell silent, the Royal Speaker finished his address by thanking all Keymonite citizens for there joy and giving a personal thanks from the monarchs to all Keymonites. Once more, rounds of claps went up, but fell silent much quicker. After this, the hospital, once again, became just another hospital. But how did this sudden change occur.

According to a press statement released by the Royal Palace, Queen Amélie II (who had only announced her pregnancy two months ago) went into labor around 1 AM, where she was immediately driven to Turtle Bay Hosptial’s Nursing and Pregnancy Ward. As she entered the Pregnancy award she, with the King by her, began the nearly 2 hour process of child-birth. At 3:32 AM, following nearly 2 hours of effort, Princess Éva was brought into the world. After the Princesses birth, the Queen wished to stay in the pregnancy ward for a few more hours so that she could recoup and have the King’s family visit and see the heir apparent for the first time. The Queen and King admitted, through there Royal Palace address, that they had not addressed the child’s name. So, after Princess Éva’s birth, the couple began to decide upon a name. They agreed on Éva, as Éva was a well known hero in Loureannis legend, a woman who lead soldiers directly into battle and won every fight she ever got into. The Royal couple stated that they believe there daughter will be just like the Éva of legend, leading soldiers into battle and leading nations to victory.

PM Chausson Visits Nowogard As Diplomatic Relations Between Valruzia and Keymon Return to Normalcy

Economic and political suicide, it was deemed by many back at home. Even the thought of slowing trade with Keymon’s fifth largest importer and fourth largest exporter caused many to fear the economic ramifications. Yet, Prime Minister Régis Chausson did it anyway and successfully managed to bring the nation back from the brink of economic recession. This occurred nearly a decade ago, and Keymon has managed to, since then, thrive economically, due to a boost in tourism in recent years. And whilst the diplomatic standoff between Keymon and Valruzia lessened over the years, the economic relationship between both nations had remained in a deadlock, with Valruzia freezing the assets of some Keymonite companies and Keymon cutting oil imports from Valruzia. However, as of yesterday, the economic relationship between both nations has seemingly, finally, thawed.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Régis Chausson boarded the “PM Plane” at Turtle Bay International Airport and headed for Nowogard, to discuss economic and diplomatic relationships with the Valruzian Prime Minister, Anna Vinciguerra. Once there, he began to ride to the Prime Ministers home to negotiate directly with her.

After around three hours, Prime Minister Chausson came out and talked to the press, stating that-

The economic and diplomatic relationship between Keymon and Valruzia, from now on, will remain extremely strong. Valruzia and Keymon both rely on each other for assistance in the extremely turbulent times that have gripped Seleya. Therefore, the Kingdom of Keymon has decided to begin increasing its purchases of Valruzian oil, to assist the Valruzian economy. In exchange, the Valruzian government has increased it’s purchases of exotic fruits.

A simple walk down the streets of Turtle Bay will bring a truth to the faces of anyone who has not grown up in the area, or anyone who has been to a major city abroad. Turtle Bay, and Keymon in general, lacks any major chain or network of nightclubs. Nightclubs have, for hundreds of years, been a major source of entertainment and tax income for first world nations such as Lourenne and Kazulia. In Eroncourt alone, there are nearly 75 different nightclubs, all serving native patrons, but also Lourenne’s many tourists. That begs the question then, why hasn’t anyone opened up a major nightclub chain in Keymon? The truth is, it is a risky endeavor. Many Keymonites are still extremely traditional and conservative, which eliminates a large segment of the populous from the base of customers. Another reason is the fact that, before a major influx of tourists began appearing around a decade ago, tourists generally came to Keymon for it’s cultural and historic sites, not for its nightclub scene.

However, spurred on by domestic and foreign demand, Turtle Bay is now home to a nightclub of it’s own. The Pink Flamingo is 150,000 square feet and features a bar, dining room, dance floor, and stage, where entertainers will show off there abilities to the up to 1,250 guests the nightclub can hold. The club will be served by, according to the owner Andria Carlu, staff who’ve been-“trained by the world’s best bartenders, chefs, waiters, and hospitality workers”.

Speaking to owner Andria Carlu, he said that-

I hope this will become one of the hottest destinations for not only tourists, but Keymonite citizens as well. We’ve noted the need for more energetic venues for the many all-nighters of Turtle Bay and we hope that the Pink Flamingo will suit you well. Ultimately, the Pink Flamingo is a place for one and all.

Whilst the club’s extravagant lights and LED sign, featuring the clubs mascot (a pink flamingo with a tequila in it’s claw), has drawn in large crowds of both tourists and citizens alike, they’ve also drawn condemnation. The club, according to some residents, disturbs the historical and cultural value of Turtle Bay and turns into simply a strip mall. Others have complained about the potential for illicit drug use in these establishments, which is common in other parts of the world. However, Mr. Carlu responded to these critiques by stating-
“I believe that this establishment doesn’t devalue Turtle Bay as a historical and cultural center. We are simply giving people something they’ve wanted. Also, we do not allow the usage of tobacco, marijuana, or any illicit drugs within our establishment or within 100 feet of the entrance. We hold our customers trust high and seek to strengthen that trust for many years to come”.

“Confusing, irritating, and redundant” are the words most commonly used to describe the Keymon tax code. The nations tax code, a book which is nearly 700 pages long, has been considered one of the world’s most complicated and confusing tax codes, trailing slightly behind Likatonia’s. In almost every city and town during tax season and on almost every television screen, there are advertisements for tax assistants and attorneys, who will help you file your taxes for prices ranging upward to 3,000 KED. This tax code, made during the socialist dictatorship that fell nearly 14 years ago, is so controversial that it has sparked protests and some small scale riots.

However, now the citizens of Keymon can sleep better tonight, because of a recent bill passed through Parliament. The Parliament has recently passed a new tax code, which reduces almost all income and sales taxes. The average Keymonite citizen, who makes 90,000 KED, will now only be taxed 3% of there income. The highest tax bracket for personal income is 33%, for individuals making 5 billion KED or more. This is dramatic shift from the previous tax code, which taxed people making 1 billion KED or above more than 90% of there income. Most sales taxes where also dropped, and some where even completely removed. The sales tax on gasoline/petroleum products, natural gas, propane, firearms, ammunition, weaponry, and survival equipment have been completely abolished, whilst the sales tax on electronics, vehicles, and medical supplies where greatly reduced. Some sales taxes, however, where raised, including the sales tax on alcohol and tobacco products.

However, one of the most drastic changes to the tax code would be it’s size and what it covers. The previous tax code was nearly 700 pages long and covered the taxing of things such as nail salons and shipping stamps. The new tax code is now 150 pages long and only covers, what it deems-“necessary taxation”. In the tax code itself, it states that any business conducted or product sold that doesn’t have a tax ruling for it, shall not be taxed at all.

We were able to score an interview with Minister of Finance Edmond Demaret, one of the main proponents of this new tax code. He stated that-

The previous tax code had rules in regard to things that, in all honesty wouldn’t happen. How common do you think it is that a woman goes into a nail salon and only buys a comb? This new tax code will completely do away with unnecessary taxation rules. If it is an unlikely scenario, it simply isn’t going to be in the tax code, and that is for the better. This new tax code also frees up the personal incomes of Keymon’s citizens. And whilst it is possible in the future, that we will have to borrow money to continue budgetary expenditures without these taxes, that isn’t a problem at the moment and I believe that this will benefit Keymon greatly in the long term.
