Keymon to return to its Klavian identity, reclaiming Klavia Okeanó, Leaving Luthorian CommonwealthApril 4402Above: Governor-General Elect Lukullus Kalpurnius, Who Vowed As an Election Promise to Refuse to take the oath of Office to become Governor-GeneralFactio Phileléftheris has been the leading force of the Klavian movement in Keymon, which aimed towards leaving the Luthorian Commonwealth and restoring the Klavian majority to political power and authority within the country, and restoring the traditional name of the country, and the institutions that more closely reflect their traditional Seleuco-Klavian roots. In the 4401 elections, Factio Phileléftheris challenged the government New Democratic Party, the former pro-Commonwealth, Social-Democratic, and majority Luthorian and Luthoran-friendly ruling party, which governed Keymon and lead it during its short time within the Luthorian Commonwealth. The success of the Liberals (other name of FP) was largely built on its support of market-centered third way economics, the Klavian majority, the Aurorian Church, and restoration of Klavia as an influential regional power, tourist destination, and merchant state as it has been in its golden years of all times. During debates and in campaign organizing, the Liberals emphasized the lack of diversity and presence of Klavian people on NDP ballots, their swift entry into the Commonwealth, and the country's lack of precedent for Commonwealth membership.
Lucullus Kalpurnius, candidate for the Governor-General, won debates against the Governor-General, William Depola, by vowing and signing a declaration that he would refuse to be sworn in as Governor-General, and would do so until a vote took place on leaving the Luthorian Commonwealth. The incumbent, William Depola refused to do the same, and this became a major issue of contention within the executive election.
He won the election and has thus far kept his promise. Mr. Kalpurnius is a graduate of Leighstown University (4367) as an undergraduate, with Baccaulaureate in Economics and Klavian History, and studied at Universitas Argona in Seleucia, gaining a Seleucian
Título ad Máster (Master's degree)in International Affairs (class of 4369.) After this, he worked for many years in finance, ultimately serving as the Chief Financial Officer of Argentarium Keimoneam (Keymonian Bank) and a frequent political commentator and activist. Gnaea Agrophora, a scioness of an old Klavian political family, is serving as his chancellor.
Shortly after the Liberals stormed to electoral victory, they proposed a referendum to exit the Luthorian Commonwealth. As the election ended enormously in favor of the Liberals, who gained a substantial majority, it is anticipated to pass. However some, including Commonwealth leaders from Hutori and Alduria, have expressed their concerns, the second aggressively so, travelling to Leighstown to berate the Luthorian National Parliament and make baseless claims accusations against the Klavian people, pulled from ancient history. To these statements from the Duke of Argennes, Governor-General Elect Kalpurnius said "e
The Duke of Argennes is making an extremely unwelcoming incursion on our sovereignity and the functioning of what is at this time the National Parliament of Keymon. His Excellency would be better served to make up a press release or write a letter to the editor at some publication, yet he does this, intruding upon legislative debate upon the floor without any invitation or permission to do so from the government of the ‘Commonwealth’ of Keymon. This is just further demonstration of how weak the forms of governance are, thst we are under, as part of this so-called Commonwealth."
