As the PurVide Empire spreads it’s wings across most of Terra, a small farming company in Keymon is making one of their major ambitions into a reality. According to a press release made by Keymon Fruits, Keymon Fruits will begin construction of several vertical farms in Lourenne to assist in PurVide company’s desire to provide tropical drinks at a low cost. The costs of construction will be split between the companies, and Keymon a Fruit will receive full ownership of the facilities.

The Keymon Fruit Company and PurVide originally began negotiating the issue of fruit importation directly from Keymon. However, both parties began to realize the value of Lourennais domestic production, as it would decrease shipping and refrigeration costs. The negotiations slowly turned from fruit importation to the construction of farms within Lourenne. However, noting the lack of farmland ripe for tropical fruit planting, both companies began discussing the construction of an artificial solution to the growing of tropical fruits. Eventually, both sides agreed upon the construction of vertical farms in Valois. Vertical farms are farms specifically designed to be compact, and used in urban areas.

The CEO of Keymon Fruits discussed the deal with reporters from the Island Times where he stated:

This deal directly benefits not only the Keymon Fruit and PurVide companies, but also benefits both Keymon and Lourenne. The Keymonite agricultural sector is greatly boosted by this deal, as these vertical farms will require skilled labor from Keymon to properly work. Lourenne will directly benefit by receiving new types of refreshing and scrumptious drinks, which will boost the economic productivity of the nation and of the PurVide company as a whole. Ultimately, this is a deal designed so that both sides could greatly benefit.

As major news organizations across the world cover the crisis in the Mad Dog Ocean, very few have focused on yet another major issue that effects all nations the border the Mad Dog Ocean. The economic impact of the Mad Dog Ocean Crisis cannot be understated. According to the Bureau of Oceanic Trade, the percentage of trade going through the Mad Dog Ocean has been cut by nearly 35%. This major cut in trade within the Mad Dog Ocean may have effected other nations relatively little, but this has been a major blow for Keymon’s economy, which relies heavily on being the middleman of trade between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

The Mad Dog Crisis began following a naval exercise performed by the Likatonian Navy. This exercise, which was also attended by the Republic of Davostan, saw the Likatonian and Davostani Navies enter Lodamun’s EEZ and came to within 12 nautical miles of the shores of Lodamun. This sparked international outrage, with many nations implementing sanctions or out eight discussing intervention into Likatonia. The crisis only subsided following a formal apology from the Ministry of Defense, who claimed that “rogue soldiers” performed this operation solely on their own accord. This claim has been highly debated by international observers, and many have called the subsequent arrest of these “rogue soldiers” a severe violation of human rights.

This slowdown in trade within the Mad Dog Ocean will have several severe impacts in Keymon. The most obvious one being, a reduction in shipping in the region and, the therefore, a reduction in ships making stops in Keymon to refuel and restock. However, another effect that is less talked about is the major hit that’d be agricultural sector will take due to this economic slowdown. As less domestic agriculture is exported to the rest of the world, the prices domestically become cheaper and cheaper. Whilst the economic situation will, according to most experts, not reach a level where in these companies may require bailouts from the government, it is likely that they will suffer major financial losses.

Whilst this economic slowdown has worried many within Keymon, a major question must be asked. Will Keymon recover from this economic slump and will she come back stronger or weaker then when she entered it?

As Keymonites turned on their televisions this morning, a shocking announcement rang from their speakers. The announcement that the King had suffered a major stroke had left many in a state of shock and disbelief, as King Gaudino has always presented himself as a relatively healthy man. However, as the news reports continued, calm filled the air as more information was revealed about the King’s condition.

The King suffered a major stroke at around 4:30 AM when, following a longer than usual night of paperwork and other bureaucratic duties, he began suffering from the standard symptoms of a stroke. Noting this, his assistant immediately took him to the hospital where he was thereafter treated. The King is now in stable condition and has not experienced any major health complications since his hospitalization.

This health scare has caused many within the government to begin discussing possible succession issues. The main one being the age of the proclaimed successor, Prince Carlu, who is only 14 as of the writing of this article. Many within the government have discussed possibly changing the order of succession so that Princess Éva, currently 16, may succeed her father upon his death. The Royal Plaace has refused to comment on the mater publicly, but insider sources have claimed that discussions surrounding the succession are prevalent.

King Gaudino released an official memo from his hospital bed in which he states:

The good will I’ve experienced from my people is immense. I’ve received so many prayers and get well cards, that it is truly tear jerking. I wish to thank the citizens of keymon for keeping me and my family in your thoughts and your prayers. I will recover soon, a resume my activities as monarch. Only death himself can stop my work for the Keymonite people.

On the steps of Parliament, reporters stand crowded with their cameras ready to snap as many pictures of this historical moment. As the King leaves the parliament building, media surround him and begin asking questions. However, as the Royal Guard begin to push back the reporters, the King answered one of the reporters, which was- “Why did you make this monumental decision at this time”. The King’s answer was “better to sort out the succession whilst I’m still breathing”.’

Following the major health scare last year, in which the king suffered a minor stroke that limited the usage of his right hand temporarily, discussion has spread throughout the capital in regards to the royal succession. Many questioned how long the King, who has been known to work for 2-3 days straight without sleeping, could remain as monarch in the event of yet another medical emergency. However, neither Princess Éva nor Prince Carlu are of the legal age to take the throne (Éva being only 17 and Prince Carlu being 16). However, as some commentators have noted, Princess Éva had received a much more in-depth political education compared to her brother, who studied military strategy in Leighstown, which could’ve potentially persuaded their father to change his mind on succession.

This change in succession rules, whilst not entirely unprecedented in Keymon history, is a major sign of the increasing gender equality that has been spreading throughout the more traditionalist segments of Keymonite society. Princess Éva, upon her ascension to the throne, will be the first queen who was chosen, over a male relative, which is a major deal. Others have also noted the potential for civil strife in Keymon due to this traditionalist mindset vs. the fact that Princess Éva will become Queen.

The King denied to comment further on his decision, however a close confidante of the King stated-

Prince Carlu has taken this change extremely well. He has openly stated his excitement for his sisters ascension to power and I believe that, with all my heart and soul, he shall serve the Queen well in all affairs of state.

Petition Regarding the Recognition of the Rightful Lands of Keymonite People and Crown

In the spirit of democracy and the will of the Keymonite people; in the name of the prosperity of our island, it's noble inhabitants, and our gracious Gaudino Catena VIII; and in the hope that the voices recorded and strengthened by this petition fall not on deaf ears, but on the ears of an ambitious and intelligent Parliament; I, Martinu Falccioni, do submit this petition to the Parliament to the great Kingdom of Keymon on behalf of the United Seas movement, the Keymon people, and our almighty God.

It is the belief of the United Seas movement, and the belief of many non-affiliated Keymonites, that the rule of our people and of our King ought to be expanded beyond our beautiful home island and into the lands of which belong to Keymon by right but are under foreign occupation. Many of these lands have, in the distant past, been the home of Keymonites, and in many of these lands live a Keymonite diaspora who live under the rule of the governments of foreign occupiers. We see it as the duty of the Kingdom of Keymon and our great King Gaudino Catena VIII to ensure the safety of these lands and the Keymonite diaspora, for it is the duty of any legitimate state to protect the people who have created it and the lands which are occupied by those people. With this in mind, we see it as necessary that historical and rightful Keymonite lands come under the administration of the Kingdom of Keymon.

Already, our people and our island have come under direct threat of foreign occupation and annihilation. These threats come from the government of Malivia, who seeks to claim the isle of Maddog as a "Malivy Island" and thus place our people under foreign subjugation. Imagine such a fate, the Keymonite people coming under the total subjugation of a foreign occupation and left without a state or self-governance. Such a fate is terrible, yet it is the fate of many Keymonites abroad. The Keymonite diaspora has been placed under foreign rule, and it must be saved an brought back into the safety of the fatherland.

It was pointed out by the 47th century Keymonite politician and visionary Antonio Espansion that the island of Pirland, which is currently under the rule of the Likatonian government, is an island dominated by Keymonites and a land historically ruled by Keymonites. Yet this island is currently ruled by the unstable and weak Likatonia government and is the victim of economic stagnation due to its poor administration. These Keymonites are ruled by a violent rogue regime which has terrorized Terra by supporting rebel and terrorist factions abroad, specifically in Zardugal. The Keymonites of Pirland suffer a sad fate, a fate not deserved by any of our people. Espansion believed that the island of Pirland must come under the control of a Keymonite government in order for its people to be free and for Keymon to be strong, and seeing the plight of the Keymonites of Pirland, we are compelled to agree.

The signatories of this petition hereby demand that the government of the Kingdom of Keymon recognize our nation's claim to the island of Pirland, push this claim as a key diplomatic issue, and do all that must be done in order to free the Keymonites of Pirland from Likatonian rule and bring the island under the rule of Keymon.

As the bells chimed at the cathedral, and as the men and women of Keymon woke up from a good nights sleep, few could predict the word upon the lips of all the news channels throughout our fair isle. As the eyes of millions watched, as the news anchors dawned in black began to talk, as the bells of St. Thomas Cathedral fell silent once again, something it had not done in over 40 year. As those throughout nation viewed a life changing moment, it seemed as if time itself had stood still. Everyone in Keymon read the same words…the King has passed away at age 68 due to the complications of another stroke.

King Gaudino had suffered from a stroke 2 year ago, though it was relatively minor in its effects. He specifically couldn’t move his right arm as accurately anymore, however that did not prevent him from continuing his work with humanitarian and government entities. He had continued his work with the Cancer and Terminal Illness Center in Turtle Bay, visiting many sick children through their struggles with cancer and terminal illnesses. The King had previously called his work with these children “the greatest legacy I can ever pave”. The King began to suffer from symptoms of a stroke late last night and, as he was rushed to ER, began to suffer from a heart attack. He was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital.

Queen Consort Améilie II will give a speech televised address to Parliament where she will announce the passing of her husband and the beginning of the official mourning period, during which times, all government officials shall wear solely black clothing, all flags will be hung at half-mast, and the windows on the royal palace will have black curtains drawn over them. Princess Éva and Prince Carlu have been moved to a safe location to avoid any possible threats to their lives, according to a source within the Ministry of Defense. Princess Éva is scheduled to make her first public appearance as the new monarch, following her private coronation at St. Thomas cathedral, following which, she will begin her public coronation.

The Royal Palace releases an official statement on the King’s passing-

Whilst King Gaudino has ascended to the Kingdom of Heaven to serve as one of God’s many brave soldiers, we shall remember him back here on Terra. We shall cry, we shall feel weak, we shall feel sad. But never forget this…the monarchy lives. Princess Éva shall soon be crowned monarch and begin her duties as Queen. Whilst we may be saddened by this loss now, the dark skies will part and the sun will shine down unto our great island once more.
