NATO Prepares for Aggression Against Hobrazia

Last February, NATO carried out "Exercise Cobra Loda", an amphibious landing training exercise in Vascania. This "training exercise", carried out on a beach purposefully selected for its similarity to southern Artanian beaches, is obviously a preparation for amphibious landings along the Hobrazian coast. General Luis Serrão, commander of the 11th Defense Army, stated: "NATO is planning to start an aggressive war against the people of Hobrazia. They realize that our fortifications along the Luthorian border are impregnable and that any assault against them would be suicidal, so they have decided to use amphibious landings. Cobra Loda is a dress rehearsal for the impending assault on the beaches of Hobrazia. We have no intention of backing down in the face of NATO's naked attempt to threaten this country."

Fear, fear has gripped the tyrannical government of this nation. Fear that they could lose power, fear that the people are awaking to discover that they do not care for them, fear that the international community is making a stand. They claim that they stand for freedom, they do the opposite, they claim that NATO is dangerous and aggresive, that is a lie, NATO wants to secure peace in Terra, stop the campaigns of Nova Terra and protect all people. We support the international community in their condemnation of this tyrannical regime. We will fight for freedom, we will secure taht freedom again one day, that day is nearing, the people can no longer tolerate this regime and the power they are seeking and the fear they are trying to start.

Fear that cannot be allowed to succede. We seek liberation, the people would welcome liberation. The people look forward to a new freedom, a freedom away from Nova Terra and their oppresion. Free Hobrazia will grow and rise to lead the nation into a new era of enlightenment, freedom and Liberty. With the help of our allies abraod that day will be dawning soon. Wave of Terrorist Attacks Sweeps Hobrazia; Martial Law Declared

Yesterday, in a carefully coordinated plan designed as the prelude to an uprising, First Party terrorists destroyed buildings and indiscriminately killed civilians all over Hobrazia. The number of casualties is estimated to be over 5,000, and preliminary insurance assessments put the amount of property damage at around 3 billion HCR. Captured documents show that the attacks were intended as a signal for a general uprising. In some areas there were uprisings, but the local population, who had experienced centuries of First Party tyranny and thus support the legitimate government of Hobrazia completely, defeated them with only minimal assistance from the Hobrazian Army.

Following the attacks, martial law was declared. A curfew has been put in place from 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM. Carrying of weapons by civilians without a permit is prohibited. All demonstrations are banned. Elections are temporarily suspended until the problem of First Party intimidation of voters and election fraud can be dealt with. Police and Hobrazian Army troops are permitted to arrest anyone who violates these regulations, which are only intended as a temporary measure until the threat of rebellion has ended.

Editorial: UNT, NATO reponsible for Crisis in Hobrazia

OP-ED (LBC) -- In the wake of Hobrazia's ratification of the UNT treaty, radical forces opposed to NATO swarmed in. Enticed by pathetically weak parties such as the First Party, the new factions easily gained power to use Hobrazia's UNT veto as a weapon against the self-proclaimed world order. The fact is that if Hobrazia were not a permanent member of the security council, it would likely still be at peace. The current UNT treaty is flawed and Hobrazia is paying the price.

Victoria Diggory Now Controls Stormridge; Establishes Safe Haven for Dissidents

ASTORIA CITY, STORMRIDGE (LBC) -- Disputes over the administration of Stormridge have led the URP to reassert control of the region. Citing past laws granting control of the sector to the URP, Victoria Diggory, wife of former Governor Matt Diggory, announced she will now administer the sector. Some departments questioned the legitimacy of Mrs. Diggory, however since the language of the Fair Deal granted control to her party, all departments in the sector soon recognized her authority.

Shortly after gaining power, Victoria Diggory announced Stormridge would be a safe haven for dissidents and would not be subject to the martial law imposed upon other sectors. The move was greeted with wide approval by opposition leaders nationwide.

Victoria Diggory Temporarily Suspended From Position

Gen. Luis Serrão, Commander-in-Chief of the Hobrazian Army, announced today that Victoria Diggory has been indicted for treason and espionage by the Stormridge Sector Military Court #3. Her position has been temporarily suspended until these charges can be further investigated. This is not permanent, and she has not been arrested and is still alive. Until the issue can be resolved, the military has assumed direct rule over Stormridge Sector.

The freedom of the people is again at stake. The tyrannical government in an attempt to prevent its imminent collpase has imposed harsh rules on the nation and its people. They have declared marshall law and postponed all election. They declare us a threat to the nation and to peace, yet they have begun this action, they have persecuted people for nothing, they have instigated violence. We will defend ourselves from this mindless aggression. We will defend the freedom that we hold dear, that to them is a foreign ideal that should be banished from the land, we will stand up forthe rights of those that voice opposition to this tyrannical power, to a power that would rather see the people die and suffer than be removed from power by the people.

The bombs that have blown a hole in the peace of Hobrazia are nothing more than a government ruse to persuade the peoplethat we are evil, that we are terrorists, we have and we restate the fact that we have committed ourselves to freedom and liberating the people, but we have also committed ourselves to not harming tose innocent of any crime against the people, we will only target those that are willing followers of this organisation of terror that leads the nation. We will not harm the civilians that must work to earn a living, that must do jobs that not many others would do, we will only target those we know are invovled. We will take responsibility for the bomb attacks on the Police HQ in Kiduran City, Astroia City and Camero we will also claim the attack on the Military barracks in Kiduran and the Naval base in the town of Hellovia. We at best only caused structural damage and killed few individuals that have in ther lives led ot the death and destruction of innocent free Hobrazians.

This government will fall and they will use all tactics at their disposal to protect themselves from the people, the power of freedom and the fire of liberty.

Liberty is burning brighter in Hobrazia today but again blood has been split to reach these ends.

Growing Fear in Hobrazia

ASTORIA CITY, STORMRIDGE (LBC) --The government has achieved what a small band of rebels never could - fear, lawlessness, and near certain economic collapse. The decision to sweep aside Governor Diggory for allowing free expression and peaceful political dissent in her sector made apparent the unwillingness of the government to respect even its own corrupt bargains. The so called "Fair Deal" was unfairly swept aside by an increasingly militant regime.

Concern that other contracts would be nullified caused huge drops in the stock market as investors shifted money from Hobrazia to more stable markets. Curfews and martial law have decimated tourism, retail, entertainment, and restaurants as citizens remain confined during evening hours and avoid venturing outdoors if not necessary. The value of the HCR fell 20% overnight with foreign investors shying away from Hobrazian bonds pointing to an unsustainably high deficits and political upheaval. Economists now predict GDP to fall 12-26% this year in real terms.

Imperium Congress Deals Setback to Emperor; Challenges to Civil Rule Remain

ASTORIA CITY, STORMRIDGE (LBC) -- The Imperium Congress stripped the current governors of their powers today, but the bill will have little effect since the Emperor declared martial law and appointed Generals to administer Hobrazia's five sectors. With upcoming elections the Imperium Congress will not have time to act on this issue, but the United Republics Party plans to introduce a bill to reinstitute civilian control of the government for purposes of debate.

Barmenian Election Monitors Arrive; Fair Elections to Proceed

ASTORIA CITY, STORMRIDGE (LBC) -- Despite attempts by the Emperor to delay elections, many now expect fair elections will occur. Barmenia answered the URP's request for international monitors from the UNT's DIC, and with the Emperor's approval have entered Hobrazia ahead of the November elections.
