Former Naval Captain Ruuben Rootare Elected Prime Minister of Dolgava


Former Naval Captain Ruuben Rootare has unexpectedly challenged his way to become the next Dolgavan Prime Minister

In what is being called one of the wildest elections in Dolgava's history outsider and former naval captain Ruuben Rootare has been elected as the Prime Minister of the Dolgavan Empire beating rival and former Defense Minister Anastasija Cicenaite in a close race. The race saw 48% of the Dolgavan public support Rootare while 46% supported Anastasija Cicenaite, the remaining being other candidates. Rootare has proclaimed that he will be the "monumental force for change" in the Dolgavan Conservative party saying that he will "root out the establishment" and "bring government back to the common man".

Throughout his campaign for the top spot in Dolgava Rootare held his campaign on the fact that he was not a politician and that he had spent his life in the military and in the private sector, far away from Aikums and from the seat of power. Dolgava has distrust in the political establishment and Rootare's promise to shake up Dolgava's political landscape. His cabinet is not yet published but expected to be full of political outsiders.

The election and aftermath is still in its beginning but it is clear that the election of Rootare is a very big change for the Dolgavan Empire.

Dolgavan Empress Stars Charity Tour Across Dolgava

In one of her public appearances as the Dolgavan Empress, Konstanja has announced that she will be touring the entire country from coast to coast hosting quite a number of charity dinners, auctions and balls and galas to better support charities. The Empress says she is deeply passionate about raising money for Children's hospitals saying that the Dolgavan St. Olaf's Children's Hospital helped her mother safely give birth to Konstanja after complications during the birthing process. The tour will be paid for by the Empress and the Royal Family with the proceeds going to Luthorian missions around the world and St. Olaf's Children's Hospital.

Guests to the dinners and banquets and balls will be paying royally to be able to dine and commune with the Royal Family while the auctions and other events will be more cost friendly. This is apart of the Empress's goal of being a approachable and a positive change for good in the country. In a prerecorded address to the country she said

It is my mission as Empress of this great empire to be someone not stuffed up or confined to my residence but someone who is actively a force for good and a positive influence especially for children who are struggling and suffering. I will soon be visiting towns, villages and landscapes across this great country in a way no other Dolgavan monarch has done in centuries. It is my goal to meet and be with as many people as I can so I can better understand and serve you better.

The address which lasted nearly 25 minutes was a sign of things to come. For Konstanja she has taken this upon herself, to be a public Empress for the people and in the coming days and months she will strive to complete what she has started to do. This move really ensures that Konstanja stays focused domestically before visiting and making her international visits, a very valuable gesture to Dolgavans who are used to their monarch hitting the road during the first part of their reign.

During the past few years Dolgava and Lodamun have made headlines in increasing amounts of trade and military cooperation. From the passage of the Keris Straight Initiative to the creation of a joint Submarine surveillance network to now the stationing of Lodamunese drones at Point Hoomar, the two countries have seemingly never been as close as they are today.

This has been a long time coming as Lodamun and Dolgava have been at odds throughout history, however in recent years this ancient animosity has been swept aside and replacing it has been the mantle of joint security and friendship. Lets look into some factors that has made this friendship possible.

Territorial Integrity

Dolgavans have long been very stubborn about their territorial rights, however they have been very cooperative with allies or other like minded nations. The Dolgavan Government realizes the shared goals of Lodamun and Dolgava and that with each country prominently positioned on the Kerisian Straight, it is clear that there is mutual trust, respect and friendliness between the two states. With other prominent straights such as the Migrants Pass seemingly becoming a point of aggression and international incident every few decades, both countries recognize that they cannot police or protect the straight alone, they realize that they both need territorial integrity by working together.

Moderate Governments

Lodamun has in recent years been under a very accomplished and very stable governance by the Democratic Party of Lodamun. Gone are the days when Ecofuedlists ran the country into a third world state. Modern Lodamun is a country that is open for business and looking to expand its economy and its foreign relations across the globe. Lodamun has been a success story for the triumph of moderate politics and this sort of governance has been a key influence in Dolgava's willingness to work with them. Past Lodamun regimes have been ideologically and morally against Dolgavan way of life, but Lodamun and Dolgava are now more similar then they have been in centuries. The Dolgavan and Lodamunese Governments have been able to work in lockstep with each other in accomplishing joint Seleyan and Kerisian security and it has been truly a good thing for both countries.


Trade

One cannot look at Lodamun and Dolgava and their foreign relations without looking at trade. The Kerisian straight is one of the largest sea routes in the Northern hemisphere with traffic from Northern Artania and Northern Dovani intersecting into Makon, Keris and Seleya. It is the linchpin that keeps the Northern Hemisphere trading and if it was to arise in crisis, it would leave both Dolgava and Lodamun in a sorry state. Both countries realize this and they realize that they must continue to not only keep from having conflict with one another but to be allies as a way of ensuring to businesses and the international community that the passage is safe.


Luthori

Lodamun is a member of the Luthorian Commonwealth and a close ally of the Luthorian Empire. One can argue that Luthori has played an important role in getting these two states to cooperate and to become friends. Dolgava solidified its friendship with Luthori at the same time as it did so with Lodamun along with the rest of the Commonwealth. Luthori is not solely responsible and inadvertently helped Dolgava and Lodamun get closer but they indeed were a driving factor behind this.

To Conclude, Dolgava and Lodamun have and will continue to be key strategic and trade partners for the foreseeable future. Together they have helped make the region safe, secure and economically vibrant by their policies and together they will do many more things in the future. This is an example of cooperation and trade being extremely valuable and having widespread impacts across multiple continents and can be seen as a framework for other parts of the globe looking to put aside fighting and taking up the mantle of peace.

The Empress of Dolgava Konstanja lll has begun her visit to the Holy Luthorian Empire in her first international visit as Empress. The Empress landed in style wearing a elaborate floral tiara and a golden dress while meeting the Luthorian Royal Family. The Empress who last visited the country in her childhood almost 20 years ago.

During the early part of her reign the Empress has made it a point to stay at home and do what he predecessors did not and that is focus on Dolgava. She has become famous and beloved by many across Dolgava for her fundraisers and activism for things such as homelessness, mental healthcare, and even an anti bullying campaign. However in the life of a monarch they must go abroad and represent their country by keeping connections with other nations alive and well. For Konstanja she made her first trip to Artania and to Luthori landing in Ft. William and making her presence known instantly.

The trip is very much a high profile trip for the Empress however she will be spending most of it behind the spotlight. She is expected to meet with Luthorian Government officials and she will spend some time with the Luthorian Royal Family including a meeting with the the Luthorian Emperor Albert. For the Empress Luthori is a welcoming place as Luthori and Dolgava continue to share very positive and close relations. In a recent statement on her upcoming trip she said that "Fruitful relations with Luthori is paramount to the foreign policy and future of Dolgava". It is clear that the Empress is interested and active in foreign policy and wants to be apart of positive foreign policy for Dolgava in the present and future. She also stated that the Commonwealth of Nations, which includes Lodamun and Hutori, two Dolgavan allies that "Dolgava has and will have close ties with the Commonwealth, it is imperative that we maintain these good ties".

The Empress will finally visit many historical and ecologically important sites across Luthori seeing both the natural and historical wonders of the country. She will be spending in all a week and a half in the country and will be coming back to Dolgava after her 10 day visit.

The Dolgavan Prime Minister Ruuben Rootare after being quiet along with the rest of the Dolgavan Government has issued a diplomatic protest and warning against the Beiteynuese State following their aggressive actions following Lourenne's decision to increase their presence in Alduria. The Empire's full military has been put on high alert and the Dolgavan Government is in communication with Luthori, Lourenne and other northern powers as to what decisions will and should be made. The Prime Minister spoke to the press and the country saying that "We have a clear and unshakeable resolve to support Lourenne and its people", and that "The Dolgavan Empire is tired of being told what to do by a stale and waning power on the other side of the planet". The Prime Minister spoke in his matter of fact and no nonsense way, the types of speeches that he has become famous for and he was very direct and transparent to the Dolgavan people on what the Government's position is. Here is a portion of his speech below.

The ongoing crisis in Seleya is clear, unavoidable and very disheartening, however my Government is clear that we must take a stand for Lourenne in this crisis. Dolgava and Lourenne share a history of friendship and commerce stretching thousands of years. Lourenne has been known as a peaceful, humanitarian country for as long as all of us can remember, and now they are being painted as tyrants, bullies by particular countries. Beiteynu on the other hand has been the country that cannot leave well enough alone. They have turned something reasonable into a situation where we are on the edge of a cliff that we do not want to fall down. Beiteynu has sent Terra teetering on the edge of a war all because they are hungry for power and influence. Dolgava does not forget the humanitarian crimes that the Beiteynu State has put upon the Dolgavan people and now they ask for the international communities help... preposterous...

I will make this very clear. The Dolgavan Empire will assist our friends in Eroncourt and will ensure they have safe passage through the Karzon Straight as well as safe harbor in Dolgavan ports. Lourenne is not the aggressors, it is not a "both sides" argument, and I unlike the Representative from Kundrati, will refrain from making a international spectacle about this. The clear violator in this case stops with Beiteynu. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will speak in a few moments but I will make this very clear. All Dolgavan Citizens in Beiteynu, Alduria and Lourenne are urged to leave until this crisis is over. DolgavaAir has offered free flights for those living abroad to return home.

If Beiteynu makes a third strike and does armed conflict, we will be recalling our ambassadors and their staff from Beiteynu as well as issuing a ban of all Dolgavan Citizens from remaining in the country. This will also be followed by economic sanctions.

The Dolgavan Military as well as the Fast Response Force has been activated. This means Dolgava is at an increased level of readiness. My office will be reaching out to our neighbors Kizenia and New Endralon as well as Lodamun on how to better protect and ensure security of the Northern Seleya, Makon and Keris areas. We will not tolerate any conflict in Keris and will defend our friends as well as our homeland from any hostile force. I will also be active in the CSCO's response to this crisis as well.

The Dolgavan Empire urges peace and level headedness but we must recognize that Lourenne has done nothing wrong and does not deserve the hostile actions being thrown at it. My Government and I will keep watching the situation closely.

College Students from Aikums Aurorian Patriachal Church Academy and the University of Aikums Arts and Culture College began camping in the freezing snow outside the Embassies of Lourenne and Beiteynu following the news that war has been declared by the two nations. The College Students which have armed themselves with laptops, wifi hotpots and megaphones say that they will not leave the street and will continue to make their voices heard 24 hours a day until the conflict ceases and a ceasefire has been called. More liberal professors from these universities have already started remote classes as a way to keep these college students in school while they make their voices heard. The college students leader is a cultural and humanities student Lena Upīte. Lena is an advocate for world peace. Lena and her classmates have begun shouting through megaphones directed at the Beiteynu embassy calling them "war criminals" before saying that "their Government is no longer welcome to have peace since they are not making peace".

Meanwhile at the Lourenne a lesser crowd has gathered outside their grand embassy, with more college students setting up tents, heaters and fleece blankets for long haul protests at the doorsteps and street of the embassy. Despite the Dolgavan Government officially supporting Lourenne however many Dolgavan students are fed up with Lourenne as much as they are with Beiteynu, both seen as aggressors in the conflict. The protests at the Lourenne embassy is not as boisterous or loud as the Beiteynu protest, but it is clear that they are fed up with Lourenne as well as Beiteynu.

Outside both embassies boomboxes have begun playing music at very high volumes with Dolgavans doing their part to be heard. The calls in the streets of Aikums tonight are for peace and for an end of conflict. It is clear that Dolgava like most of the rest of the world does not want to see war and conflict, however convincing the two warring states that this is a good idea is probably long past its feasability...

Dolgavan Markets Take a Plunge


Dolgavan Traders react to the disastrous day for the Aikums Stock Exchange in reaction to the ongoing Lourenne and Beiteynu war.

The Dolgavan Markets have come crashing down following reports of ICBM's being used by Beiteynu. This in combination with reactions from other financial markets crashing such as Luthori, and the massive disruption to the global supply chain has finally taken its toll on Dolgavan markets. The Aikums Stock Exchange which is the gold standard for stock exchanges in Dolgava lost 967 points in a day and it is down 11% in a week, marking the largest crash in recent memory for the exchange. Many domestic sectors have survived roughly intact but many international companies based in Dolgava took a hit and took it hard.

Companies such as DolgavaAir saw massive losses with the carrier now pausing all flights to Lourenne and many countries in Seleya near to the ongoing conflict. Dolgavan banks and investment firms also took sharp losses as many do business in Lourenne. Many companies have been preparing for week for this outcome and with the crash of the Luthori economy only a few days before, it was clear that Aikums would follow suit in the meantime. Dolgavan Beauty Giant Sankt Anastasia which has deep ties with Lourenne's runway and fashion sector is also yet another brand that has taken a massive hit on the trading floor. Dolgava electronic sector also has taken a hit following this unprecedented drop...

The companies that have survived mostly in tact are Dolgavan natural resource and defense companies. Dolgava's major mining and timber companies have seen very few losses, however with the Dolgavan market in freefall it is clear they will soon be impacted.

The Government will soon be reacting to the ongoing situation but the situation is definitely ongoing. Tensions between Lourenne and Beiteynu seem to be continuing and it is clear that the war will be prolonged. One can hope Dolgava's markets can ride out the storm in tact but, it is clear that the global economy is on the verge of recession...

Dolgavan Expeditionary Forces Activated

We are receiving reports that members of the Dolgavan Expeditionary Force (Dolgavanas ekspedīcijas spēki) have been activated and they have been told that they are to be ready to deploy at 12 hour notice if nessisary. This follows the ongoing reports of ICBM's being fired by Beiteynu at Lourenne, something that the Dolgavan Military believes could easily become a global war. The Dolgavan Expeditionary Force is a highly trained and ready combat unit which is Dolgava's army unit that is meant to fight and go abroad.

Dolgavan Army Corespondent Ret. General Lennard Mommsen told the Free Press Network that

The Dolgavan Government is not preparing to go to war but with the ongoing situation being so dynamic, so unstable, and may I say, unhinged. It is clear that the activation of the DES is a symbol to the world that Dolgava will not stand unprepared for attack. We live in dark times where tension and escalation take place on a day by day basis. We are seeing two former allies now sending ICBM's at one another and Dolgava like most of the world cannot trust the so called "global powers" to keep the peace because they are causing the most disorder we have seen in centuries. This is a smart decision being made and apart of Dolgava's strategy of preparedness. It is always better to be prepared then to get caught off guard.

If conflict gets closer to Keris and Dolgava the Dolgavan reserve forces will be called up along with full mobilization but for now the Dolgavan Government is taking the first steps toward preparing to defend the Dolgavan homeland. The threat of invasion or attack remains very slim but with ICBM's now flying, the threat is now higher than it ever has been.
