President Hong declares himself God-Emperor: Begins Massive Construction Projects

Earlier in the week President Hong made a startling declaration that has sent the nation into an uproar by declaring himself the 'Divine Emperor of the Kyo Race and lord of Greater Dankuk', and has stated that all who oppose him shall be imprisoned according to the Blasphemy Law. This has caused a split within NCP as many of the party have sworn an oath to uphold the Hwangje Royal dignity and see his actions of late as "not in accordance with the Will of our Ancestors." In addition it seems a resistance has risen up with Hwangje Pung and Hee-Do and Mok Sang-Ah organizing a revolt against the Tyrant...In the meantime the new 'Divine Emperor' has begun lavish construction projects and a recruiting spree of young virgin women to serve in the court. The details though are kept from the public on what exactly is being built but truckloads of wine have been brought in as well. The new Emperor declares that this is to bolster the strength of the Kyo race.

Meanwhile the son of Hwangje Mi-Sun has offered commentary on the affairs of Dankuk that seem to indirectly criticize the way the new 'god-Emperor' is behaving, saying

to always think of the people and pray for the people, with deep respect and love for the people. This is the true duty of a leader. That, is why I pray today for the safety and peace in Dankuk and its leaders. I fear the current regime has lost its sense of propriety and has caused unnecessary hardship on the people. My mother and aunt would have been greatly displeased with the the events in Dankuk and I fear for the future of my family-both Ryeo and Hwangje, and the people of Dankuk. I hope and pray that the leaders of Dankuk can come to reason and discover true inner peace and carry out their duties to the people and work together with the people to build the future of the country as is fitting of leaders. With this earnest wish, I have decided to make my thoughts known.

Federalists Resign Over Dem.Progressive Compromise with NCP

SEONGTAEK -- Vice President H. Rico Kim, joined by other Federalist members of the government, appeared earlier today to announce their sudden resignation, a reaction to Democratic Progressive support for Hwangje-proposed restructuring of the government. Despite their previous stance of republicanism, the Democratic Progressives have taken to ignoring the place of the Imperial Household of Ryeo and have thrown support behind legislation that would officially recognize the Hwangje as the royal family. While this legislation will fail, it has nonetheless caused a serious rift in the pro-democracy camp and is view by many royalists as a betrayal of history and cultural basis of the nation.

The Federalists in Senate has now proposed early elections, which are expected to occur within the next month.

Emperor Choesun V Returns

GONGMANGDO -- In a complete shock to everyone, Emperor Choesun V arrived at Gongmangdo International Airport in the past hour, returning from political asylum in Indrala. This likely comes in response to the crumbling power of President Hong and the growing number of false claims being made regarding the state of the Dranian monarchy. Security around the Emperor is high and exact details of his location and activities are being kept secret.

His most high-profile appearance was in the last hour, when he spoke before the Imperial Senate, declaring his continued support for democracy and the fight against President Hong's tyranny:

I urge the Senate to continue the fight against the tyranny of President Hong and to re-establish liberty, freedom, and true democracy to our nation. Elections will soon be held, featuring new political parties and a NCP that has hopefully broken free of the ultranationalism of Hong's faction. I hope that this nation can move forward and get back on the path of progress that was set by the former president in the post-juche period.

I also urge this Senate to continue to respect the long-standing history, culture, and traditions of this Empire. For many millennia, the Ryeo have represented and defended the people of this nation. The very foundation and core of Dankuk was established by the Ryeo and the Empire, is and always will be, with the Ryeo, the descendants of Baekgu the Great, the Kyo King that unified the ancient peninsula and started the very idea of a Kyo nation-state.

De la Cruz Out as Federalist President, Royalist Faction Takes Leadership

IGLESIA MAYOR -- In light of another failed presidential run by Alfredo de la Cruz and growing historic revisionism regarding the monarchy, the Federalist Party leadership assembled this week to select a new party president. De la Cruz has led the Federalists since the party's original foundation as the National Unity Party during the collapse of the Juche dictatorship. Serving as the second democratically elected Dranian president following the Juche dictatorship, President de la Cruz led the most major democratic reforms, reintroducing democratic institutions and overseeing the return of the constitutional monarchy under the Imperial House of Ryeo. Unfortunately, much of the democratic progress achieved under his popular presidency was interrupted by the National Conservative Party's revival of radical Kyo nationalism, which took direct aim at all efforts for liberal democracy.

Despite continued attempts by de la Cruz to return to the presidency and efforts by the Federalists to prevent Hong Seon Ki's tyranny, they found themselves overwhelmed and, in some cases, imprisoned or killed. Nonetheless, the Federalists continued to battle against the Hong Presidency, which continually abused power and, even after the Imperial Senate fell out of the control of Hong, remained a serious threat to Dankuk's democratic functioning.

Eventually, President Hong's power began to erode, but the Federalists soon found themselves in conflict with their own coalition partners, the Democratic Progressives. Shifting from a stance of republicanism, the Democratic Progressives took to historic revisionism and became increasingly vocal of their support of the claims being made by the Hwangje Family for the throne. After the Federalist resignation from the coalition government, the royalist faction of the Federalist Party began to lobby for an end to their party's neutral stance regarding monarchism and republicanism. Now, with the most recent election and another failed run by de la Cruz, the royalist faction has gained major traction and won over all the party leadership. Electing Nam Kongmin as the new party president, the Federalist Party has adopted a pro-monarchy stance, explicitly declaring their support for the continued reign of the House of Ryeo, the direct descendants of Baekgu the Great.

Hardline royalists in the party have already mounted campaigns all across the nation, focusing on the history of the Great Dranian Empire, the revival of the idea of Kyo statehood under the House of Ryeo, the immense work of King Haejo in rebuilding Kyo identity, and the importance of Baeguk being the very first establishment of unified civilization for the ancient nomadic Kyo peoples.

President Taeyang Sang-Ah has declared that Dankuk will accept refugees from Hulstria. For the first time since the fall of the Tyrant Hong, the Federalists and National Conservatives are united in opinion. The Federalists have since introduced legislation that will likely pass the rather divided Imperial Senate that will contain the Wolfsheim Plague and help secure the health security of the nation. The Imperial Medical Corps(itself a continuation of the Medical corps established in 4218) has already been mobilized to help in the efforts in conjunction with other military units. Some Kyo nationalists though feel that the situation in Hulstria requires more than a response of acceptance of fleeing refugees and are advocating a direct military intervention to better stabilize the region and protect the Gao-Showan minjok as a whole against Western Yaman-In. Military forces are moving into Loren and Eljang Provinces and the Navy is currently underway somewhere in the Western Sea.

The debate over which family is more legitimate royal family rages on in parliament with accusations of tantrums and Hong Conspiracy theories thundering from the chamber. The Ryeo continue to partially base their claim on power of the people, and the Taeyang claim based on Ancient Kyo Shamanic Tradition. Both families claim their families are the oldest, Taeyang articulating their claim matrilineally to a Pre-Baekgu Kyo Kingdom that's been revisionized out of the records by the successive regimes and laws of the Union of Dankuk 100 years ago, while the Ryeo base their claim patrilineally to Baekgu's lineage and the Kyo Empire that existed 200-300 years ago. In voting it seems the public is slightly in favor of the Taeyang line by about 3-4% with roughly even split and parliament largely split down the middle. The most recent example of bickering between the two families is over the recent Popular Governance Act which would bar any royal claimants from running for office and receiving campaign donations, a move that was hailed as a blatant attempt to clamp down on opponents according to Henry Park, a member of Parliament from Ulbrach Province-a Taeyang Stronghold. The Democratic Progressives, who seem to have become allies of the moderate faction of NCP, have also voted overwhelmingly against the bill. It seems this battle has been won by Taeyang but it is likely the first of many legal battles to come, and it remains to be seen which side will win the throne in the long run.

Indrala Sanctions NCP and Affiliated Organizations

SEONGTAEK -- Reacting to recent authoritarian proposals by the post-Hong era National Conservative Party, the National Conference of Indrala has voted to approve tough sanctions on those associated with the party. Despite claiming to have moved past the ideology of former President Hong, the NCP has, in practice, shown to be very close to the very same ideals of their past leadership. Consequently, the Federalist-led government has remained silent in opposition to Indrala's actions and appears completely complacent with the penalties.

Nonetheless there are concerns about the broader implications of the sanctions, which target not just the high-profile members and affiliates of the NCP but also "any supporter or member" of the party. A press release from the Dranian Government has assured that it will protect private citizens from any unreasonable, significant penalization imposed directly on them by the Indralan Government.

Air Dankuk and Northern Dovani Airlines Capitalize on Indralair Suspension


SEONGTAEK -- Dankuk's two largest airlines have found new profit and opportunity from the recent politically-motivated decision by Indralair to suspend its operations in Dankuk, including its non-stop connection between Tian'an and Iglesia Mayor. Air Dankuk quickly reported an increase in demand for its non-stop flights between Tian'an and Seongtaek and for its flights to other locations on the peninsula. And Northern Dovani Airlines, also seeing more demand in its Indralan connections, has announced that it will be establishing a direct nonstop routes for Tian'an-Gongmangdo and Tian'an-Iglesia Mayor.

Both company's stocks are up this week on the Dankuk Exchange.

Empress Taeyang wins Third Consecutive Presidential Election in a Row/Taeyang-Katsuran Coalition formed

Elections have come and gone in Dankuk and Empress Taeyang remains at the top against her contenders from the Anti-Monarchy Party and Yeonbangdang, thanks in part to her new allies-The New Katsuran Front, a party dedicated to improving the lives of the people in the nation. At the age of 31, Taeyang's life has been an interesting one and has gone from being the granddaughter of head of the Dankuk's branch of Sindo, to being a military commander rebelling against the usurpation of a tyrant, to the undefeated three-term Head of State of Daekyojeguk. She is quite popular among the people of Dankuk for her stand for Kyo traditionalism and defense of the Empire, though has had enormous difficulties in the past few years-in constant dispute with the House of Ryeo. National Conservative Party has generally been very careful to assert that though the Ryeo claim is respectable, that their claim is invalid by mandate of the national will, Kyo Shamanic Tradition and preservation of ancient heritage, asserting that Taeyang line goes to a Pre Baekgu kingdom that existed in Ulbrach for many years and was chief rival of the Gongmangdo kings all those many years ago. Yeonbangdang's Ryeo Choesun denies any of this, of course, and continues assert that it has the rightful claim on the throne.

Dueling law reinstated

It is now legal to challenge that boor to a duel today in Dankuk, parliament in its quest to reassert Kyo Traditions, has brought back dueling with a specific code duello to regulate such exchanges. The motion was of course opposed by the Yeonbangdang, a hardline leftwing party that seems to have no respect for their Kyo heritage, while the Wildcard Anti-Monarchy Party supported the measure along with the New Katsuran Front.

Republic of Yingdala declared illegitimate by Dankuk Parliament

Tensions between Yingdalan Republic and Grand Empire of Dankuk are at an all time high as both countries continue to sanction each other's officials and all Yingdalan Republican diplomats have been expelled from Yingdala. The Parliament reasoned that the Yingdalan Republic is an inherently illegitimate regime, having come about after what many suspect was assassination of Wu Ren by the Progressives within the last century, and asserting that the legitimate government for the Yingdala is a monarchy. Officials in Dankuk have stated that they are willing to work with any Yingdalan that opposes the leftist bandit government in Tian'an that has commandeered the Yingdalan state, and that Taeyang's best wishes goes to such people in their efforts to preserve the True Yingdalan Culture. The law also is broad enough that it may allow for the exiling of certain members of the Yeonbangdang for their association with Yingdala.

Imperial Senate begins vote to remove Ryeo Choesun as Emperor

Following proposal by the Anti-monarchy Party, Dankuk seems set to remove Choesun V as the Emperor of Grand Dankuk Empire. For the last 20 years, various royalist factions have been disputing claims to the throne, but it seems that Ryeo's reign will end with the Taeyang-Katsuran Coalition and Anti-Monarchy Party agreeing on the need to end the reign of, according to his supporters: Choesun V. It is uncertain what will become of the Ryeo family, but considering their extensive links to the Republic of Yingdala, they will likely have many financial issues and may be facing exile.

Prime Minister Sonu Jun-Young declares that Dankuk stands with Hulstria & Gao-Soto

As international tensions mount, and the world edges closer to what many fear is the next world war, Dankuk has officially recognized the Okatori claimant, Kaiser Otto III von Rothingren-Traugott-Okatori, as the legitimate monarch of the Hulstrian throne. This decision was not an easy one from what sources close to the crown have suggested, with Empress Taeyang having arranged for a formal Meeting of State with her possible cousins, the Labsburgs, and the Hulstrian Foreign Minister, Albrecht Kohl, to discuss improved standards for the Gao-Showan Community. Such a meeting has since been canceled recently for undeclared reasons, and Dankuk Imperial Forces continue to mobilize on the southern border. Rumors of communications surrounding the government indicate that there may be some collaboration with Kazulia if war breaks out between the two nation's forces.

Minister of Justice Reveals What Happened to Missing NKF Members

On Chul-Soo, the current Minister of Justice in Dankuk, has revealed that several of the missing members of the NKF were apprehended and executed after investigators unearthed evidence of a conspiracy to assassinate Taeyang Sang-Ah. Some of the conspirators are still at large. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of No Hye-Sun, Sa Sung-Ki, Ye Dae-Jung, Sin Seong-Hyeon, Kae Shin, Ch'ang Minji, or Steffon Conway is encouraged contact their local police department immediately.
