First Cabinet reshuffle in 15 years
Herakles Calliades will also add two new ministers: Labor and Equality

Image
Aphrodite Zorbiade and Anastasios Arvanitidis, new first Ministers of Equality and Labor

The Kalopian government will suffer a reshuffle for the first time since Herakles Kalliades took the place of Aspasia Miskiadi as Head of the Kalopian government. Mr Kalliades has kept the same Cabinet since 5105, when he replaced Mrs Miskiadi as General Secretary of ARIZA and subsequently won the general elections in the country after she announced her retirement from the first line of politics. 12 years later, and after winning election after election, no Ministers were removed or replaced, at least until now.

Following the 5117 elections, where ARIZA once again became the most voted party and achieved yet another absolute majority in the national parliament, Mr Kalliades announced that most of the current Ministers would be replaced, and said that this was done "in common agreement" with them, as he clarified that he talked with each one of them before making his final decision. Although little is known yet, internal sources talk about Minister of Defence Ekaterini Petrea as the only one not to be replaced, although most probably she will be stripped of her condition of Spokesperson of the government.

The new cabinet will also see an increment in the number of Ministers, since during the past legislature Mr Kalliades announced that for this term he would add two new Ministries: a Ministry of Labor, which will take responsibilities from the Ministry of Trade and Industry; and a Ministry of Equality, which will take responsibilities from the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The name of these two new Ministers was also announced during the electoral campaign, with Aphrodite Zorbiade taking over the role of Minister of Equality and Anastasios Arvanitidis being named Minister of Labor.

Little is known about the rest of new Ministers, but some sources in private have declared that Mr Kalliades is looking for a strong profile within the new government in case he himself needs to be replaced, as the government is planning to pass a law to clearly stablish the line of succession in case of decease of the Head of State - Mrs. Vasilide has been HoS of Kalopia since the return to democracy of the country in 5085, and is currently 67 years old and with no plans for retirement

"Anti-feminist" protests in Kalopia after new Cabinet takes seat
Demonstrations have been called by the "eléftheroi kai ísoi" (Free and Equal) social group, tagged as a "far-right" activist society by the Kalopian government and National Security Agency, following the new composition of the Kalopian cabinet, with 11 women and 3 men

August 4120

Image

Kalopian government was already warned about the issue, and so the police was deployed around the National Parliament building as the Second Kalliades government swore their seats. The Eléftheroi kai Ísoi, a far-right activist group as described by the intelligence service of Kalopia, announced protests and demonstrations in all major cities of the country following what they consider "continuated discriminatory politics" against "Kalopian men", following the announcement of Prime Minister Herakles Kalliades of his new Cabinet composition, which once again was dominated by a strong female presence (11 women and 3 men), in addition to the creation of the specific Ministry of Equality, already announced during last year. This cabinet composition keeps the trend that Kalopian governments leaded by ARIZA have been following over the years since the country's return to democracy, with the first and second Miskiadi governments made up by 10 women and 2 men, and the now former first Kalliades government composed by 9 women and 3 men.

The leader of the movement, former member of the military Stergios Sarrallis, believes that ARIZA, and the Kalopian government are "criminalizing half of the Kalopian population" just for being born in a certain way.

"Since the supposed recovery of our democratic rights and liberty, as ARIZA claims, our citizens have seen how this far-left communist government has only ruled for a few, has contributed to fracture our society and has attempted to destroy our society and traditional culture"
has declared in the biggest demonstration, held in the country's capital city right in front of the national parliament.
"This is not just about the government composition, it is about the politics applied by this government and promoted by ARIZA, that seek to destroy our civilization, our core values, and to indoctrinate our children into believing that, just because they are born male, they shall be inferior to women and they shall not dare to even talk to them".

Demonstrations have been attended, according to local police bodies, by a varying number of around 1,000 and 20,000 people depending on the city, carrying various banners with slogans such as "take your hands away of our children", "stop feminazism", or "this is not feminism, it is hembrism".

Talking to the few women that have attended the demonstrations, they also say they support the declarations made by Mr. Sarrallis.

"While growing up during the Military Junta "dictatorship", I never felt disrespected, or afraid of something happening to me. I was raised to take care of my husband and children the same way my husband was raised to take care of me and our children. And my children were raised the same way, as it should be."
claimed Timothea Kelloglou, who attended the demonstrations with her daughter and granddaughter.

"This government, and the ones before it, do not promote equality, but instead promote the idea that women and men cannot even be friends, that it is wrong for men to even try to flirt with women, and promotes homosexuality and depravation to our children. I do not want that for mine"
says Stergios Papas.

During the night, a few clashes between police forces and protesters have been reported, with firefighters services having to intervene in some cases where cars, stores or trash cans have been lit by manifestators.

When asked about it, new spokeswoman of the Government and recently elected Minister of Equality Aphrodite Zorbiade has downplayed the protests by attributing them to "far-right" extremists.

"Why is it that only when there are more women than men in any cabinet around the world, these kind of behaviours keep popping up? I've never seen these "equality fighters" even raise their voice when governments around the world have two, three, or no women whatsoever among its Ministers. This government, like all previous ones headed by ARIZA, is fully engaged with equality among women and men, and that starts with representation and commitment, with showing our children that no one is inferior to anyone. And if someone says that any of the Ministers in this government is only there because of their gender, let me tell you that this is precisely why we need to keep doing these things, until no one doubts the capabilities of anyone just because of the position they hold".

The demonstrators have announced that they will continue the mobilizations in the coming days, and have warned that abortion clinics, "feminazist" organizations and other places are in their sights, while the government warns that the full weight of the law will fall on those who intend to "alter public order causing terror among citizens".

Mr. Sarrallis has also called people in other countries to "wake up and rebel" against the tyranny of "feminazism" and the "modern order"

"Kafuristan should make a full revision before pointing fingers" Kithara Prefect says
Thanassis Tantaliadis, Governor of the region that borders Kafuristan, accuses its neighbouring country of "interventionist policy" and regrets its decision to withdraw from a "mutually beneficial agreement"

Image
Thanassis Tantaliadis, Prefect of the region of Kithara

The Kalopian government has decided to ignore the words of Kafuri Prime Minister Arafaat al-Awan and the actions taken by its national parliament of passing the so-called "Protest Against Kalopian Tyranny" bill, but they have found a response in the words of Thanassis Tantaliadis, current Prefect of the Kithara region, the only one of the Kalopian nation that shares a border with Kafuristan. According to his words, said during a tv interview in the regional channel, Mr. Tantaliadis believes that the decision of the Kafuri government to withdraw from the Kalopian Neutrality and Diplomatic Treaty will hurt "more to them than to us", as he has implied that such a withdrawal, in a hostile way, will require of a proportional response from the central government, probably implying the expelling of the Kafuri ambassador and the closing of the Embassy, along with the cut of all diplomatic ties with their neighbours.

"The main goal of the Kalopian Neutrality and Diplomatic treaty is that it prevents not only our nation from external influences, but it also gives third nations the assurance that Kalopia will not talk about or influence in their internal policies in any way. If Kafuristan decides to opt out, and especially in these terms, Kalopia will have no option but to retaliate. If Kafuristan does not respect our internal policies and our neutrality, we won't be obligated to do the same. Anyone can disagree with our government, but it is what people have freely elected. I do not know if that is the case of Kafuristan, but something tells me their attitude towards each and every single of their neighbours will bring them more problems. In his declarations, Prime Minister al-Awan has directly lied, blaming Kalopian government of taking harsh actions against protesters, and I think he is confused. Kalopia is not Kafuristan, in this nation we respect the freedom of speech and freedom of protest".

In addition, Mr. Tantaliadis has assured Prime Minister al-Awan that he "doesn't have to worry about media influences spreading to Kafuristan", since, according to his words, independently of the actions taking by the central government, he will "immediately" - as soon as the Kafuri parliament ratifies its nation's withdrawal from the Treaty - cut any ties with Kafuristan, closing the border of Kithara with the Kafuri region of Abi'nadi, and banning any import or export from the neighbouring nation into Kalopia through Kithara.

"It's a shame that we have to do these kind of things, but it is what they've wanted to. Kalopia is now a solid democracy, recovered from a harsh dictatorship, and we wanted to become a neutral nation in order to promote our democracy. But if someone does not want to respect our wishes, they are free to do so, they just have to handle the consequences of their actions. And let me remind the Kafuri Prime Minister than Kalopian economy, and Kithara's, is strong, but we do not know how strong is Abi'nadi's economy and if they can handle this kind of retaliation.".

This decision by the regional Prefect has surprised many living along the border in both countries, used to cross from one to the other with no problem and going to work indistinctly in each region. It is now unknown how will this affect all those people.

BREAKING: Athanasia Vasilide and Herakles Kalliades to step out at the same time
The President and Prime Minister of Kalopia have decided to leave their political positions at the same time

July 5121

Image
Alekos Nassas, Prefect of Elaióna and prospective new General Secretary of ARIZA

Kalopian politics will see a complete renewal in faces for the next elections, as President Athanasia Vasilide and Prime Minister Herakles Kalliades have both announced their intention not to contest for reelection after this legislature.

After just being elected for her 10th consecutive mandate, President Athanasia Vasilide has announced her intention to retire completely from politics. At almost 70 years of age, Mrs. Vasilide has been the only Head of State of the Kalopian Republic since the country's return to democracy, winning election after election by huge margin against all her political opponents. But now, she believes that it is her time to move aside and let the people choose another Head of State for the next elections. She has announced so during her inaugural speech, in which she has had also words for her longtime friend and former Prime Minister of Kalopia Aspasia Miskiadi, who is currently hospitalized after being diagnosed with liver cancer.

With my retirement, I believe a era comes to an end. But a new chapter in Kalopian history starts, which will continue to be written by Kalopian women and men, hand by hand walking through its pages working together in the hope of continue building a brighter future for us, our children and our grandchildren. I'm grateful for all the years I've been serving this country with all my heart, and I just hope whoever is elected after me continue working in the same path: towards keeping Kalopia a stronghold of human rights, democracy, freedom and respect.

But Mrs. Vasilide's goodbye has not been the only one. In his acceptance speech in front of the Kalopian Parliament, Mr. Herakles Kalliades has also mentioned that this will be his last term serving as Prime Minister of Kalopia. Speaking to the national deputies, Mr. Kalliades has, however, stated that he is not retiring from politics, just from the leadership of the country, with many sources confirming that he will most probably contest the elections to become Prefect of any of the 5 Kalopian regions. Mr. Kalliades has been serving as Prime Minister of Kalopia since 5105, now 16 years ago, and by the end of his last term, he will have served 20 years, the same amount of time as Aspasia Miskiadi did.

It is unclear who will ARIZA militants choose as candidates for both the HoS and HoG positions from the party to fulfill the duties of the now leaving members, but one of the names that is resouding with strength is that of Alekos Nassas, current Prefect of Elaióna and a convinced leftist. Mr. Nassas is a former model and teacher who became involved in politics just a few years ago, when he decided to contest the elections for the government of his home region as part of the ARIZA's candidacy, resulting in a huge victory. While the candidacy period has not opened yet to replace Herakles Kalliades as General Secretary of ARIZA, and he has not stated in public his desire to contest for the position, close sources to the Prefect of Elaióna tell us that he has already made up his mind and will attempt to take the jump from regional to national politics.

In relation to the candidate to HoS, it is unclear yet who will ARIZA present, but many wonder if it will be a woman. With the ongoing far-right protests about the "excessive feminization" of the country's politics, the election of a male candidate to the Head of State position and the prospective renewal of the Supreme Court members right after the next elections will determine if, for the first time since the country's return to democracy, no woman will hold one of the top political and democratic positions in the country, since it is expected that, in case ARIZA wins the next elections, current President of the Kalopian PArliament Ioannis Tasselis will remain in his position, and some will see this as a victory of the far-right protests.

Kalopian government steps in
The Minister of Foreign Affairs has clarified the official position of the Kalopian government in a scalating issue between Kafuristan, Kalopia, and now Istalia

Image
Kalopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Kyriake Muteli delivering a speech on behalf of the national government

What looked like a simple exchange of insults between two politicians seems to be evolving into a new and feared crisis in Majatra, which may end up spreading across the continent. For this reason, and despite the fact that initially the Kalopian government had decided to stay out of the exchange of statements between the Prefect of Kithara and the Prime Minister of neighboring Kafuristan, after the words of the Istalian deputy Nadia Berrettini and the offer of the government of Istalia to "mediate in the conflict", the government still led by Herakles Kalliades has decided to break its silence on the matter through its Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kyriake Muteli.

Mrs. Muteli, an experienced Kalopian diplomat with more than 30 years of service, entered the government of Herakles Kalliades after the reshuffle, and is known internationally for her dialectical toughness but also for her negotiating skills. Through a press release, Mrs. Muteli had summoned the media first thing in the morning in the press room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from where - wearing a white dress, the international peace color par excellence - she gave the speech on the official position of the government.

"Good morning to all.

Following recent events between the government of Kafuristan through its Prime Minister Arafaat al-Awan, the Prefect of the Kalopian region of Kithara Thanassis Tantaliadis, and more recently, the Istalian nation through the words of its Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonella Mercalli and Deputy Nadia Berrettini, I appear before you to explain the official position of the Kalopian government on this matter, due to the fact that no one, it seems, has made any effort to find out about it.

Kalopia is not a federation of independent states, but a decentralized federal republic, and as such, the highest power rests with the central government, democratically elected by the citizens every four years through legislative elections. It is the responsibility and exclusive function of the national government, and specifically, of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs and, where appropriate, Defense, the opening, closing or any change in the borders of our nation with respect to neighboring nations. No regional government, also headed by democratically elected leaders every four years in legislative elections, has the power to legislate and/or order changes in the borders of their territories, except prior notice and permission granted by the aforementioned Ministries.

Although it is the responsibility of the regional governments to control the traffic of people and goods through their territories, under no circumstances, and without authorization from the central government, can a regional government decree the closure of the passage of people and/or goods through of its territory. Once this point has been clarified, and given that the Kalopian government has not authorized this alleged border closure at any point and under any circumstances, it is clear that such an event has not occurred and will not occur under the current circumstances.

Having clarified that situation, the Kalopian government wants to make clear its full support for the government of the Kithara region and its Prefect, as the leader democratically and freely elected by his fellow citizens.

From the Kalopian government, we deeply regret that the Kafuri government has unequivocally made public its support to a far-right movement that wants women like me to stay in our homes, serving our husbands and keeping our mouths shut against any injustice. And we also regret that certain members of the national Parliament of Istalia take a stand with these ideas, and have no qualms about admitting it. However, if our nation has been characterized by something since the return of democracy, it is in respect for different opinions, of course within the margins allowed within any self-respecting democracy. That is why we also regret, and demand, a rectification by the Istalian deputy Nadia Berrettini, citing her words that she "invite[s] the Prefect Tantaliadis to get off his pedestal and return within us ordinary mortals and therefore to avoid such drama queen's hysterical scenes", especially in reference to the explicit mention of "pedestals" and "ordinary mortals" in a nation whose Head of State is a Monarch and whose form of State is a hereditary monarchy. Fortunately, as in Kalopia, in Istalia we believe that they also respect freedom of expression and therefore, they will allow me to express myself in these terms about their nation, since I am making a mere observation, unlike what this deputy has done, openly criticizing a member democratically elected by its citizens and also openly defending a far-right discriminatory movement and its supporters.

In contrast, we appreciate the tone used by the government of Istalia, exemplary and open to dialogue, but we want to make it clear that no mediation is necessary since Kalopia is quite clear about this conflict, and the matter is that there is no conflict.

Regarding the last point, Kafuristan is free to, if its parliament so decides, annul any treaty that exists between our nations. Once again, the words of the Prefect of Kithara do not imply the government of the nation, which is the one that has the last word in these matters. From the Kalopian government, we regret this movement carried out by our neighbors since, de facto, the annulment of the Treaty implies the elimination of diplomatic relations between our nations. This is not a threat or a warning, it is a fact: the ratification of the Treaty automatically implies the opening of diplomatic relations between the signatory nations and Kalopia, respect for the neutrality of our nation and respect of our nation for the internal politics of the signatory nations, and if any nation withdraws from it, it implies the closure of its embassy in our territory. There is no deeper reading or hidden intentions. If our neighbors in Kafuristan feel that their membership in this treaty no longer makes sense, they are free to make their decisions, but accepting the consequences that derive from it, no more, no less. Kalopia, as a mature and stable democracy, will not act with premeditation or desire for revenge since that is not the behavior of this government to which I belong. We accept that Kafuristan does not consider us a reliable partner anymore, but with that attitude, the consequences derived from it are accepted. Kalopia is not an easily offended nation, but neither is it a manipulable or foolish nation.

We want to make it clear: we are disappointed and ashamed about the Prime Minister of Kafuristan's words in support of such a far-right movement which would like to see our country step backwards in time decades, and we announce that this issue can have consequences in the future relation between our nations, but in no case will it imply any immediate change in the border between our countries, the same way nothing happens if we, for instance, called Kafuristan a "hidden far-right dicatorship" because it would be just a exchange of words between two neighbour nations sharing their opinions on each other. "

The Minister of Foreign Affairs ended the statement thanking the journalists for their presence, and she announced that in the coming days she will try to arrange a trip to Istalia to strengthen ties between the two nations.

BREAKING: The mourning of a nation
The citizens of Kalopia woke up this morning to the news that the Prime Minister who brought democracy back to the nation has not been able to ultimately overcome the cancer that afflicted her

February 5123

Image
One of the last times former PM Aspasia Miskiadi was seen in public, receiving an award

To some, she was the mother of the entire nation. For others, one more piece of the joint effort to recover democracy after the dictatorship of the Military Junta. But for the vast majority of citizens of Kalopia, Aspasia Miskiadi was undoubtedly a fundamental piece in the recent history of Kalopia.

The first democratically elected Head of Government after the defeat of the Military Junta, she had previously become known for participating in numerous social protests and having been arrested on several occasions. Once elected for the office, Mrs. Miskiadi was the one in charge of carrying out the elaboration of the new Constitution of the nation, the establishment of various democratic structures in the nation such as the Supreme Court, the Parliament, or the figures of the regional Prefects and the national assembly, as well as various laws such as Referendums or Civil Rights. Apart from all these narrowly constitutionalist proposals, the successive governments of Mrs. Miskiadi carried out numerous reforms aimed at expanding social, labor rights, or improving Kalopia's economy and international relations, starting from the point of "extreme neutrality" that from the beginning of her mandate she defended as Prime Minister and that led her government to draft the Kalopia Neutrality Treaty or the withdrawal of the Majatran Economic Association.

In the streets, it is very difficult to find someone who has any bad words to describe the job done by Mrs. Miskiadi, who during her tenure as Prime Minister - which expanded over the course of 20 full years - served in office more like a second President of the nation rather than a political figurehead. And when you do find someone able to criticize her, it is more related to precisely this, her ability not to polarize the nation, rather than any other thing.

When she retired from politics, she already described her role as Prime Minister as "her greatest achievement in life". Coming from humble origins, with both parents being workers of a factory, she never hid the fact that since a child, she had great ambitions and expectations, and those around her knew she was destined for great things, as she ended up proving to the whole nation.

However, destiny might be cruel sometimes, and some time after she retired from politics she was diagnosed with a type of liver cancer. Despite the best efforts to erradicate it, and as she always defended, being treated by the public healthcare system all along, it seems like she finally couldn't beat it.

In a televised speech, current Prime Minister Herakles Kalliades broke the news to the nation, visibly affected. Her political heir in many ways, he always protected her political legacy. Now, flags will be flown at half-staff for a period of two days in all official buildings, as a sign of respect for the Prime Minister who succeeded in restoring hope to the citizens of Kalopia for a better future, and preparations will be made to give her a proper state funeral.

During Mrs. Miskiadi's tenure, there was a large increase in the number of newborn girls named "Aspasia", after the Prime Minister, according to data compiled by the National Center for Statistics. This is just one more example of the great affection that the citizens of Kalopia have always professed for their political leader, a rare sign in the current era where politicians are not always so highly valued by the general public.

The Prime Minister has also announced that preparations are underway immediately to build a monument in his honor in the capital and in her hometown, and the National Cancer Research Institute is expected to be renamed the Miskiadi Institute for Oncology Research and Treatment.

For the State funeral, numerous authorities from around the globe, and especially those who already signed the Kalopian Neutrality Treaty, have expressed their condolence for the loss and are expected to attend it.

Kalopians mourn their "princess of the people"
In recent days, social networks have been filled with messages of condolences for the death of Aspasia Miskiadi; thousands attend the State funeral together with numerous international personalities

Image
Close image of the coffin with the mortal remains of Mrs. Aspasia Miskiadi

After hearing the news of the death of Aspasia Miskiadi, social networks in Kalopia were filled with messages of condolence and pain for the loss of the former prime minister, more knowing her death caused by cancer. Leaders from across the political spectrum in Kalopia expressed condolences for what many called the "sudden early departure" of one of the great figures of Kalopia's more recent history.

At the funeral, Prime Minister Herakles Kalliades, President Athanasia Vasilide, as well as various regional and national politicians have spoken in favor of the deceased former Prime Minister, praising her attitude, strength and courage, especially at a time when "you had to be extremely brave to survive on your own".

At the state funeral, held in the capital and to which anyone who wanted to attend was invited, as her family had wanted to establish - her civil partner and their two children - numerous leaders on the international scene have also been seen, but without a doubt many of the curious eyes were gathered around three figures: the Emperor and the Empress of Istalia, alongside the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonella Mercalli.

The presence of the Istalian imperial monarchy at the state funeral could be interpreted as a symbolic gesture, after the recent diplomatic conflict between Kalopia, Istalia and Kafuristan that strained relations between the three nations of the Majatran continent. Their Imperial Highnesses, considered as "close friends" of the Kalopian leader, have expressed their "deep pain" for their loss and their solidarity with the people of Kalopia, whom they say "accompany in the feeling".

"It is a sad moment for all the defenders of democracy, and especially for the people of Kalopia who have seen in the figure of Aspasia Miskiadi a great fighter for the rights and freedoms of all of them"
they have affirmed to the press present in the act.

On the opposite side, there is an important absence: that of a representative from Kafuristan. Following the closure of the neighboring country's embassy as a result of its decision to abrogate the Kalopia neutrality treaty, no political authority from Kafuristan has made an appearance at Aspasia Miskiadi's funeral. Moreover, as some media have pointed out, the Abadi cleric and political activist Masood al-Younan has even allowed himself the indecency of criticizing the recently deceased Miskiadi, using the words "his whore has returned to the hellfire with him". From the diplomatic corps of Kalopia and from the government itself they have not wanted to comment further on the matter, but sources inside the government say that the Prime Minister himself has pointed out that "when some minds are so rotten inside, it is best to simply abandon them to return to the land where they came from".

The celebrations for the state funeral have been carried out in a completely secular environment, away from any religious symbology as characterized by the mandates of Mrs. Miskiadi and the official position of the Kalopian State, and throughout the day there have been acts and shows of affection for Aspasia Miskiadi in numerous cities and towns throughout the country. In many cases, the businesses except the essential ones have remained closed and the balconies, adorned with the Kalopian national flag and in some cases with farewell banners to Mrs. Miskiadi.

At the funeral, a book of condolences was set up so that any citizen who wanted to say goodbye to Mrs. Miskiadi, and at the end of the day, at the stroke of midnight, the most emotional event took place: the fireworks were launched artificial lights that have illuminated the sky of Kalopia with the colors of the national standard while the National Band of the Kalopian Army has proceeded to interpret the anthem of Kalopia, "Νίκη και Ελευθερία" (Victory and freedom), one of the contributions precisely of the deceased Miskiadi:

"Mortals! Listen to the sacred cry:
"Freedom, freedom, freedom!"
Listen to the sound of broken chains,
The big hearts of the world
They have now opened their honored throne.
And the free people of the world answer:
"We greet the great people of Kalopia!"
"We greet the great people of Kalopia!"
Victory covered the Kalopian warrior
With its beautiful wings,
And the tyrant is ashamed in this respect
with defamation left,
And above the wings of glory the people rise
The worthy throne of their great majesty."

All the voices of those present joined in unison to the singing of the national anthem, while the coffin was lowered to its bed of earth.

From here, we say goodbye to Mrs. Miskiadi as she deserves.

It's a woman!
ARIZA elects its candidate for the office of Head of State: Afroditi Ioannaki

Image
Afroditi Ioannaki, new candidate of ARIZA to replace Athanasia Vasilide as President of Kalopia

Neither the threats, nor the climate of political tension due to the actions of the far-right. Nothing has been able to face the decision of the militancy, which at the time of choosing, has decided that Afroditi Ioannaki will become the next ARIZA candidate to take over the position of President of Kalopia, thus finally replacing Athanasia Vasilide as the figure of State representative.

Over the last few months, there had been speculation on several occasions that, for the first time since the return of Kalopian democracy, there would be no women in the main institutional positions in the country, with a man as the candidate for ARIZA to the Head of Government, the maintenance of the Presidency of the national parliament by another man and the renewal of the Supreme Court, which could see a man heading the highest judicial instance for the first time. The mystery of the replacement of Athanasia Vasilide as Head of State after her announcement that she would not stand for election again and the threats from the extreme right in relation to the "excessive" feminization of the political landscape in Kalopia remained to be cleared up. However, this has not had an effect and the ARIZA militants have said loud and clear that, if her candidate is elected, it will be one more woman who will occupy the position of President of Kalopia.
