Government Grants 9 Billion to Wolfsheim Disease Crisis
The influential Kalopi-Siphinan politician, Enver Kuqo, chose to announce the government's plans.
Chief of Staff to the President, and Member of the Convocation, Enver Kuqo, today announced that 9 Billion WAN in Foreign Aid would be sent out in order to attempt to tackle the Wolfsheim Crisis occurring in Ostland, and much of the rest of the Third World. Further to that, he announced that the the Chief Minister and President had granted the Health Minister, Salmoneus Mingas, 5 Billion WAN in order to research the bacteria within Kalopi-Siphina.
The move comes after the new leader of Ostland, General Hohenstein, organised a Coup d'état against a former weak and pathetic government who refused all aid attempts from neighbours Hulstria. Hohenstein has helped create a voice of reason at the top, instead of the incredulous toing and froing from the former State Council. Already he has approached both Hulstria and the World Congress to intervene in the ravaging disease. When asked about Hohenstein being a brutal dictator, Kuqo said that he had "a lot of respect for a man who wishes the best for his country - which is a lot more than could be said about the former State Council that placed Ostland in ruin."
Under the Foreign Aid Plan within the Budget, which is already being voted upon within the Convocation, 5 Billion WAN would be allocated to the new government of Ostland, whilst 2 Billion would be promised to Hulstria, in their effort to tackle the outbreak. A further 2 Billion WAN was allotted to the League of Independent Nations, though Koqa said that this was to keep "the bureaucratic oppressors happy" and that he believed they wouldn't do anything other than spend it on "fancy events" for unelected officials.
The extra 5 Billion WAN in Healthcare will crucially not be going into creating a cure, but rather research about the disease, with the aim to discover what was needed to create a cure. Kuqo assured the journalists looking on that was the research successful, a larger, more substantial effort would be made to create a cure to end Wolfsheim Disease once and for all.

"A process like finding the cure to a brand new disease costs a lot of money, and we don't want to put 10 or 20 Billion Wantunis into it, only to fail. That is why we are firstly researching the disease. Finding ways we can manipulate it, and learning more about its characteristics first will enable us to have a more likely chance of creating a medicine for the disease in 6 to 12 months time. Meanwhile this is most logical, economically viable way to go, and that is why the Government has arranged this budget as such.
