The National Populist Front and the Nationalist Workers' Party of Baltusia held a meeting in Castella today to agree on the formation of the Castella Pact. There are few details about this apart from the press release.

"We the National Populist Front and the Nationalist Workers' Party of Baltusia have come together to fix the Lindar Valley crisis by working together to form the Republic of Castella"

LINDAR VALLEY SOCIALIST PARTY ADDRESSES SEPARATIST MOVEMENT

Image
Myrna Villajuana realized a small Press Conference outside the Court of Lindar Valley

CASTELLA, LINDAR VALLEY - Outside of the famous stairs that lead to the Court of Lindar Valley, the Regional President of the SPB, Myrna Villajuana, addressed the newly formed "Castella Pact", impulsed by the Nationalists. "This is a clear proof of the incompetence of the Government" stated Villajuana, "there is no official statement from our Party yet, but I must say, as the Regional President, we want to be emphatic to say that Lindar Valley, and Castella, will not be seeing Independence from the great country that is Baltusia anytime soon".

The National Elections are coming this July, and this may be a hot topic for the upcoming debates. "We're hoping to get a great result this July, we're confident we will". As when asked about the rumors of her being the Presidential candidate for the Socialist Alliance she answered "You guys are always so creative! (laughs) No, I've been in conversations to run for the Regional Government, or maybe just as a Congresswoman, we'll see. But the Presidency is not a position I'm particularly looking forward to. The SPB has decided we're supporting the Secularists, yet the Socialist Alliance has not made any final decision just yet".

In an unexpected move, Edward Well has announced that the party is moving its headquarters to the city of Castella.

In a party speech Edward said:
We must move to Castella to support the movement where it is happening. We are the only party that is committed to giving people what they want along with the Nationalist Workers' Party of Baltusia. We must move towards an independent city-state of Castella."

VILLAJUANA: "WHERE'S THE GOVERNMENT?"

    Image
Myrna Villajuana on the "Lindar AM" Radio Show this morning

On the early Radio Show "Lindar AM", Villajuana went directly out for the Government blaming them for not managing this situation "in any way", she stated "We're of course going to study this situation as a Party, but the government, regional AND national, both managed by the current national government, should fly immediately to Castella". "I urgently call to a Governors Table Meeting, were this conflict gets resolved with the help of all the parties in Congress".

We could not contact the Leader of the National SPB. Apparently Villajuana is taking over the Party from the inside.

PM to visit Lindar Valley; begins re-election campaign
Hollis Overton announces she's to meet Lindar Valley Governor
Prime Minister calls for meeting of all state governments after election
Begins BDGP election campaign in Gevaro

The Prime Minister has begun campaign in battleground state of Gevaro

The Prime Minister has today in Congress come out against claims her Government isn't managing the situation in Castella saying recent events have "concerned [her] Government and the parties in it considerably". She announced plans to visit Lindar Valley and it's State Governor in "the coming days" and also told Congress members that a meeting had been planned between the State and Central Governments for after the election. Overton finished her speech to the Baltusian legislature saying that the nation "is and must remain one, united nation" before calling for all parties in Congress to "co-operate in the endeavour".

In other news, Hollis Overton also travelled to Gevaro, a key battleground state in which the BDGP lost the Governorship in the last election by less than 20,000 votes, in order to launch her re-election campaign. The Prime Minister labelled the gradual privatisation of some sectors as a "key success" of her Premiership and called on the voters to give her "the mandate to continue improving the lives of all Baltusians" and "allow private enterprise to invest in the country - albeit regulated so as to allow safeguards for the people".

The election will be held in July 4310.

The National Populist front has appeared in another rally for an independent Castella. People had banners with the party logo and the proposed flag of the Republic. There also reports of a national anthem being sung but we can not confirm if this really happened or not.

the movement has grown since the party moved its HQ to the city. Some experts say this is likely to boost votes for the party in Castella

SSPB Launches Campaign for Presidency

Image

The Secularist, Socialist Party of Baltusia has today announced that Leader of the Opposition Clementine Attlee is running for President on behalf of the Socialist Alliance. Attlee said that if elected President she would focus on maintaining Baltusia as a country, fighting for an ethical foreign policy, and preventing further privatisation of industry.

The SSPB began their campaign in Terrarokka, where Attlee was joined by Shadow Chancellor John M. Donald, who is the SSPB's proposed Prime Minister in the event of a socialist majority with them as the largest party. Attlee adressed the campaign:

Thank you friends, four years ago we saw the end of an age in politics, we Socialists lost our majority and the country was told that it was time for real change. Well, we saw how well that went, seventeen bills proposed since their cabinet passed and only two government bills passed. Beyond that they have failed at privatisation and failed at deregulation. We are in a lucky position that the right in this country are too incompetent to succeed: they tried to privatise rail, they failed; they tried to privatise public works, they failed; they tried to privatise rail again, they failed; they tried to privatise public works again, and they failed. The truth is that when you have centre-right, centre-left, and anti-government all rolled into one then you don't get effective leadership.
But that is only one side of the coin, the other is that of the Presidency, the role of the President is to represent us on the international stage and to push for policy at home. But when was the last time that you saw President Moggerius address Congress? When was the last time he expressed his opinion on an issue? When was the last time he did anything domestic besides waste millions of taxpayer dollars for a newspaper piece, dancing in front of socialist voting homes? We need a President who will be politically active and that is why I announce that when I am elected President I will make an address to Congress at least once every two years reguarding the state of Baltusia and the policies I want congress to push for.
Despite the positive case we have put forwards in the past, we must recongise that some people were disillusioned, many voted for the BDGP rather than us because of claims of radicalism. However it is up to us now to show those voters how useless the greens are in office and to make the positive case for less privaisation.
If the public give us a majority in Congress then we will work with our friends in the Socialist Alliance (including our new allies in the RSF and the Socialist Party) to provide effective government in the interest of the people.

Opinion polls are giving a slight lead to the Capitalist Alliance at this stage but with two months to go it is still too early to call.

Shadow Chancellor Resigns in Disgrace

Image

John M. Donald, the Shadow (and former) Chancellor, and the man who was about to become Foreign Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister has today stepped down as leader of the Secularist, Socialist Party of Baltusia.

In Congress he defended the Nationalist Workers' Party against claims of racism by the Prime Minister. Jules Hall - the Health and Social Services Candidate of the Nationalist Workers' - made the statement that "...we are against reckless intermarriages...". This was interpreted by Mr M. Donald as referring to incestuous marriages (as that was the subject of the debate), the outgoing Prime Minister said that the Nationalist parties were racist and cited those remarks; claiming that they obviously referred to interracial marriage. Despite constant claims of the obviousness of her interpretation, the Prime Minister was repeatedly contradicted by the SSPB Leader who said that she was "...insulting the 10,607,510 people who voted for [Nationalist parties]".

Eventually a Nationalist Workers' Party member of congress stepped in, saying that "it is proven that keeping with your own kind results in longer lasting relationships" and that they were "...against quick-tempered intermarriages...". John M. Donald has since condemned the views of the Nationalist Workers' Party however it was amid jeers from government benches and he resigned as leader later that day. Rumours are circulating that Mr M. Donald had been suffering from diabetes which had led to mental impairment in the past few months.

The SSPB are holding leadership elections in the next two weeks, whomever is elected leader will become the Foreign Secretary and the Deputy Prime Minister.

SSPB Leadership Election

Following the the resignation of Former Chancellor John M. Donald as leader of the Secularist, Socialist Party of Baltusia elections have been held for party leadership.

One candidate has contested the election:

Frank Rose Velt - A candidate from the centre of the party who promises action in government.

Each of them were given 125 words to make their case to the membership and to explain what their position in government will ideally be:

Frank Rose Velt
I will work as the deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary to change the country. In the past a socialist government has just meant more of the same,
it has just mean nothing bad will happen, it has just meant better than the right-wing. I will make the case for a transformative government: we will update our diplomatic treaties to promote socialist policies on the world stage; we will pass a budget which raises corporate tax, invests in infrastructure, and increases funding for public services; and we will work with the Socialist Party to promote an ethical foreign policy. All of which will mean that in two years time we will have a second term for President Attlee and me as the Prime Minister.

As only one candidate contested the election, Frank Rose Velt automatically wins.

Overton resigns as BDGP Chairwoman; leadership election held

Following the election of 4310 and the aftermath which resulted in Hollis Overton's Government being ousted, the BDGP Chairwoman has resigned, triggering a leadership election after calling for "fresh ideas".

There are three candidates in the leadership race:

Clive Lyndon, the former Defence Secretary. He wants the BDGP to remain a centrist party with deeper co-operation with Forward! and the potential for a future Government including Block Bloc.

Georgina Blanchard wants the party to focus more on progressive issues, with any alliance with Forward! re-branded to a 'Progressive Alliance'. She also wants to work with some members of the Socialist Alliance, but has been critical of the SSPB's previous leader John M. Donald and is lukewarm towards another coalition with Block Bloc.

Arlene Honeycutt has called the party to work more with the Socialist Alliance, even leaving the possibility of joining it. She doesn't want to enter Government with Block Bloc and wishes to leave the alliance with Forward!.

Round One
Georgina Blanchard - 43.30%
Arlene Honeycutt - 9.08%
Clive Lyndon - 46.90%

Round Two
Georgina Blanchard - 53.72%
Clive Lyndon - 46.28%

Winning 53.72% of the vote in Round Two of the BDGP Leadership Election, Georgina Blanchard has been elected BDGP Chairwoman.
