Haradesa: The SuD-K governing coaliton is now involved in the most significant constitutional crisis in decades as its "cultural appreciation act" was vetoed by Kaiser Anasa yesterday after passing the Grand Assembly comfortably. The bill would have introduced a new national flag, state symbols and adopt special protections for non-colonial heritage. It would have freed up 200 million in funding to protect significant cultural sites and would have installed a parliamentary commission on investigating Hulstrian atrocities in the colonial era. But Kaiser Anasa, himself a descendent from a rich-mixed aristocratic family, has vetoed the bill without a proper explanation. Government supporters have gathered near the Maroon Palace in the meantime, calling on the Kaiser to take responsibility and reverse his veto. Reichskanzler Duma has called the veto "irresponsible" and a "abuse of the Monarch his veto powers". The government is now looking to invoke article 12.1 of the constitution, which would give the cabinet the right to overturn a veto if the cabinet is unanimous in its support for a specific bill.

The situation has reignited the discussion on the monarchy, which is seen by some as a invention of the former ruling BDU to maintain its hold on power. Reichskanzler Duma has repeatedly stated that he is indifferent to the monarch but "supportive of the constitution". The extremely effective policies of his administration have meanwhile managed to gain the support of the military, a once key constituency/power broker for the monarch and BDU. With this support, some are speculating about the potential of a forced removal of the monarch. Das Büro is the only unknown factor, with potentially a significant number of monarchists within its ranks. But as the military is staying out of the current crisis it seems increasingly likely that Reichskanzler Duma will be able to use his accumulated political capital to make a significant move in the coming months.

OOC: By consensus in the RPC, this RP on the previous page is invalidated as it breaks the game rules on interacting significantly with empty nations.

Haradesa: The Grand Assembly, in a unanimous vote, has approved constitutional ammendments that transfer the head of state onto the new State President while diverting most of its executive power to the revamped office of the Federal Chancellor. The Cultural Appreciation Act will also pass which adopts a new flag and coat of arms while the ammendments further restyle ministries and the names of agencies and the Armed Forces. The country is to be named the Federal Democratic Republic of Nsanlosa. All this has come to be after Kaiser Anasa fled the country after nearly a year of continious protests and immense pressure by the cabinet on the Monarch. The tense situation led to a choice for the Kaiser: leave the country or face potential arrest by security forces, which have sides with the government in the last few months.

He chose the first option, going into exile without permission in Istapali. Following his departure, Reichskanzler Duma acted quickly and proposed the ammendments which have now been passed. The country will continue to function largely in the same manner. Some things will change however, primarily the fact that many of the monarch his/her powers will be transfered to the new Federal Chancellor and the State President, who replaces the monarch, will serve a fully ceremonial role. While the country thus braces for little change, the fact that the monarchy has not survived has caused some to look anxiously towards the future, wondering if stability brought to the country by previous administrations can continue under this system.

Haradesa: The Provincial Council of the Capital Province has approved a bill that will see the realization of a second airport in the province, to serve as a regional hub and lower the strain that is currently gripping Haradesa International. The HIA is the largest airport in the country, serving 10 million passengers a year. While Haradesa International has been repeatedly expanded and modernized, its current growth combined with a rising middle class in Nsanlosa itself has caused the aiport to become overcrowded. While initially a plan to expand HIA itself was introduced, provincial governor Misa Mshindi personally vetoed the plan, fearing that further expansion of the HIA would cause infrastructure problems for Haradesa itself, with the eastern portion of the city already facing infrastructure issues due to the airport.

The new plan, proposed by Mshindi as a replacement, will see two billion be invested into the new "Njowga Provincial Airport", named after army general Ali Njowga. The bill further directs the Provincial Ministry of Inter-Provincial affairs to work with the Gichena provincial government into working on the project together. This would mean that part of the airport would be in Gichenese jurisdiction while another part would be in CP jurisdiction. The plan also freed up two billion in funding to buy the necessary land and lay the groundwork. When it passed, the CP government and Gichena government both signed a "framework of cooperation" which outlined both being in agreement to work on Njowga Provincial Airport together.

Gichena province will be investing one billion in total, which will be added up on the two billion from the Capital Province. Currently both governments are buying the necessary land, with a notice of eviction given to anyone in the area and both using eminent domain on those not willing to move. The new airport will be situated in the north (south for Gichena) and in granting the contracts for construction the governments will specifically look at designs that "enhance the goal of lowering the pressure on Haradesa International Airport." The bidding process on the contract will be held in the next four months, with several construction companies already eager to apply for the contract. The process will be streamlined by the Inter-provincial commission on Njowga Provincial Airport, specifically created by the two provinces to coordinate the project.

Haradesa: Chancellor Duma celebrated the election victory of his party which won 168 seats in a election that saw the SuD win 40 more seats then the last election. The party of Chancellor Duma primarily defeated candidates of Koalition and the PEM, winning over more centrist and left-wing voters then before. The three remaining parties all lost seats, with the SuD coalition partner, die Koalition, taking the largest hit by losing over half of its seats. The People's Electoral Movement, previously securing support in other parts of the country as well, now only managed to win its Kagban stronghold seats, totalling 11.

The result allows Duma to remain as chancellor but this time without the need for Koalition support. The chancellor has already stated that he will sack all Koalition ministers to form a new, SuD only, cabinet. This will allow the chancellor to be more ambitious on social programs but also spend more, as the Koalition often was against large scale spending to keep a healthy treasury. Under his new SuD majority the Chancellor will be set for four years of realizing his electoral program.

The BDU has gambled this election, not electing a leader and instead running fully on its electoral program and help from local leaders. While its defeat was minimal, losing 6 seats compared to its previous result, it was still a blow for the party that had ruled the country nearly 25 years. The BDU is scheduling a party congress in the next four months, finally trying to settle the position left by former leader Kesi Akina four years ago and prepare to come back next election.

Haradesa: The EDEC Executive Council has approved a plan that will further streamline border checks, especially on freighter goods and travel by large transportation methods (flight, rail, freight). The plan will ensure that all three member states will use the same method for conducting their border checks and that there will be a common used list of exempt goods. While under the EDEC common customs procedures were already included in practice border agents tended to continue their use of previous customs procedures, disrupting the effectiveness of the EDEC provisions. With the new plan all three nations will actively enforce the common customs procedures and will penalize border agents that fail to follow such procedures. The EEC will also evaluate the procedures and the way member states adhere to them each year, allowing adjustments when needed.

The new plan sits in line with the ambitions of the bloc, with especially Bundeskanzler Duma pushing for further intergration of the three economies. EDEC is also seen as one of the reasons that peace between Istapali and Nsanlosa is holding, with a potential political aspect seen as a way to further that goal of peace and prosperity. The other two member states seem lukewarm to the idea of further intergration, with primarily further economic intergration seen as lucrative while political intergration seems a step to far. According to the Ministry of External Affairs the Chancellor himself is seeking an audience in Istapali, hoping to visit the country for the first time since the war and discuss the future of EDEC and relations between the two states.

February 5429

Haradesa: The Ministries of External Affairs and Defense have revealed a deal between the Marine and Hutori for the purchase of 4 Liberty-class guided missile destroyers. The deal, celebrated as yet another milestone in Nsanian-Hutorian defense cooperation, is meant to bolster the Navy its capabilities. As of now the Nsanian Naval Forces is the smallest branch of the Armed Forces, also being low funded compared to other branches. It consists of just 4 older Dorvish Dunburg-class frigates and a Aloro-class frigate from Istalia. It has no other combat capable ships besides some armed patrol boats. With the NÖF its discovery of oil and gas of the Nsanian coast it has become increasingly clear that the navy needs attention if it is to protect Nsanian waters. Despite the emphasize on the ground and air forces the navy is now to receive new modern ships.

The four destroyers will be sold at a cost of 800 million each, amounting to 3.2 billion. This includes costs for initial training to be given by Hutorian Naval personel and initial engineering help to train Nsanian engineers on maintaining the ships. Hutori will also deliver at least 2 wildcat helicopters per ship that will function in a reconaissance and ASW role. The total deal will end up costing the Nsanian treasury 3.3 billion. The large cost of the aquisition will be split in 4, as one ship per year is to be delivered allowing the navy to spread the costs of the purchase.

Simultaniously the Naval Forces announced that the single Aloro-class frigate that has been in Nsanian service for nearly 300 years (and several refits) is to be finally decommissioned in two years time, ending the ship that has been in Nsanian service the longest. With this deal the Reichsmarine will bolster its capabilities, ensuring it would be up for the task to protect Nsanian waters.
