KVP and ND to merge into new United Nsanian Congress
July 18th, 5417

Haradesa: After extensive behind the scenes talks the ruling Conservative People's Party and the Nsanian Democracy party have merged into the new United Nsanian Congress or UNC. The new party, which will advocate for center-right policies, is the brainchild of State President Akina who is seeking to expand her supporters base in an effort to secure a potential second term. While the ruling KVP has dominated elections Akina has repeatedly stated that she believes that the right should further consolidate to "protect our powerbase." While left-leaning parties are banned in Nsanlosa, the oppossition 'Democratic Alliance' is gaining ground as a centrist alternative that is not easily banned by the High Court or National Electoral Commission. Despite this seeming need for consolidation notable KVP figures had been against a merger, specifically the Right Honourable Kiama Chitundu and Mzuzu Badru. Chitundu, part of the Nsanian nobility, is known to be amongst the more conservative wings of the KVP and has repeatedly criticized the backroom talks with the more centrist Nsanian Democracy. Badru on the other hand is known to be a reformist, but opposed to merging with Nsanian Democracy as it could potentially stifle reformist hopes. The new UNC (also known as Congress) will espouse Hosian Democracy, Liberal Conservatism and Civic Nationalism as its main tenets, with its political position to be the centre-right.

With the merger Akina has likely secured another term as President. Her conservative style of rule combined with the consolidation of power towards the central government have concerned some. Others are optimistic of her tenure however, with Akina and her predecessor Von Meyer having brought stability and immense economic progress to the country. Von Meyer, due to the merge, has now also been removed as KVP chairman as a new "party board" takes shape. This is seen by many as the latest covert act by Akina, removing the last remnants of Von Meyer and his administration from government and power.

Government to intensify counter-insurgency operations in Kagba
August 12th, 5417

Sulekoto: State President Akina has ordered "intensifying measures" for the counter-insurgency in Kagba Province. For the last 3 years the conflict had been of low intensity, with only minor skirmishes reported. This is largely the result of the "urban consolidation" policy of the administration, which aimed at mainly securing major towns and the capital and leave the rural areas for what they were. But last month the NDF faced its largest loss of life in a single day against the insurgents, losing 15 soldiers of the Stoßtruppen-Nord unit in the "Battle of Marovaho". In the battle, 1st pioneer platoon of the Stoßtruppen-Nord was attacked in their CO (Combat Outpost) in the rural town of Marovaho by at least 200 communist insurgents. The platoon consisted of 52 men at the time and limited support was available. For nearly 5 hours the CO Hodari was pummeled by a combination of mortar and small arms fire from the insurgents, with the perimiter of the CO being breached two hours into the fight. After three hours a unit of the Kornette, the 5th "Sand" platoon, came in from the south together with limited air support from two HF-15N aircraft stationed at Sulekoto. Fighting continued for another 2 hours after which the outpost was liberated and the perimiter secured. It was the first time a Nsanian HF-15N came into action to provide support but also marked the first major battle in years. While thus 15 Stoßtruppen died an estimated 120 insurgents also died as a result of the battle.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Marovaho the government concluded that the insurgents have gained strength, thanks in large part to the Urban Consolidation strategy. While deploying the regular army has long been avoided State President Akina has now ordered the deployment of 2000 soldiers from the regular army and has instructed the NDF to step away from the urban consolidation tactic. Additional air units as well as several heavy artillery batteries are also being moved into the province in anticipation of greater combat operations. Meanwhile the landscape of combatants has become chaotic. Besides the initial People's Front for Unity and Democracy (PFUD) there have been countless of other, sometimes more radical leftist groups popping up. The most significant, considered to be responsible for the Marovaho attack, is the "People's Democratic Movement" or PDM which is a split organization from the PFUD and considered more radical.

The new strategy, as instructed by State President Akina, should "flush out" the insurgents in their rural strongholds and drive them outside of the country. It is expected that such a agressive strategy will create a new flow of refugees fleeing from escalating violence. Meanwhile the governor's of Byari and Sigala have both declared a state of emergency in anticipation of potential spill over. The Reichsminister of Domestic Affairs Mbita has ensured both governors and the wider public that more precautions are taken to prevent spill-over, with border checks conducted by the Kornette being increased and the continuation of the travel ban. For the last 8 years Kagba has been under martial law, with military governors taking turns in administering its territory. Current military governor Ayo Hali has stated that his priority will be "working with our forces in reastablishing peace in this province." But as the government intensifies combat action scholars are worried that without a permanent political solution to the ongoing insurgency Kagba might become "a open air prison where the military can do what it wants without repurcussion." They have called for another attempt at Kagban autonomy, a solution that has helped achieve peace in the past.

Following the Battle of Marovaho two soldiers, pvt. Zakia Amani and Col. Daudi Kamari were awarded the new "Kreuz des Reiches" or Cross of the Realm for their bravery in battle. The Kreuz des Reiches is the highest military honor in Nsanlosa following its creation in 5410. Both pvt. Amani and Col. Kamari are part of the 1st Pioneer Platoon of the Stoßtruppen-Nord.

Operation Bear Trap considered a "mixed succes"
February 15th, 5418

Sulekoto: Operation Bear Trap, one of the first major and targetted combat operations in Kagba, has been considered a "mixed succes" by the Ministry of Defense. The operation, including at least 500 soldiers and a majority of Stoßtruppen-Nord combined with significant air support, was conceived by General Jata Mbita as one of the first major military operations targetted against the communist insurgency since the Battle of Marovaho. The 2nd tactical air group, recently reinforced and based of the Sulekoto Airport, was assigned to oversee a new military formation specifically formed for the operation called Tactical Operations Group Alpha (TOGA). TOGA was formed out of the 1st Pioneer Platoon that also fought the Battle of Marovaho and the 7th Infantry Batallion of the regular army with support from the 2nd tactical air group. Operation Bear Trap was concluded a week ago after two months of operations, focussing on liberating a number of Kagban villages in the west of the province to secure parts of the border with Istapali.

The Tactical Operations Group Alpha saw combat on multiple occasions with the heaviest fighting being recorded in the town of Sumbahama where the group encountered around 100 militant fighters. After a two hour battle and air support from the HF-15N's in the 2nd TAG at least 52 militants were dead with 3 soldiers of the 7th Infantry Batallion reported KIA. The town was liberated. Despite the successes in combat and reaching the intended objectives the Ministry of Defense has called the operation "a mixed succes" as intel from Das Büro has suggested that a majority of militants simply left their positions and regrouped in the north ahead of the operation. While at least 12 towns have been liberated, with Kornettes to secure these gains, a majority of militant fighting power remains. Early estimates suggest that in the entire operation at least 12 soldiers in the entire TOGA have been killed with another 23 wounded while around 104 militants are estimated to have been killed.

The operation has also showed weaknesses in the NDF. While the ad-hoc creation of a battle formation specifically for this operation was praised by defense experts the observed lack of coordination between air and ground units has showed cracks in the experience of the Nsanian Air Force. In at least one friendly fire incident a HF-15N launched a airstrike to close to friendly positions, wounding at least 5 soldiers. Besides the tactical mistakes the operation also showed problems with supply, as on several occasions the Air Force was unable to perform planned operations due to a lack of ammunition while TOGA units at times found themselves running dangerously close out of vital supplies.

Reichsminister of Defense Jeto Ikeno responded to the conclusion of the operation by saying

Our armed forces have shown their professionalism by freeing hundreds of Nsanians from the grasp of the communist insurgency. While this is seen as a victory, we are not ignorant and know that from every operations lessons are to be learned. The Reichsministry is already in contact with the Central Military Commission to review Operation Bear Trap and use its experiences in future operations. The Ministry can not give a comment on our current efforts in the region

The Tactical Operations Group Alpha has been dissolved following the conclusion of the operation, with observers noting that the 7th infantry batallion is seemingly returning to Sulekoto as the Stoßtruppen-Nord remain in the area to provide tactical support to Kornette military police units.

Nsanian business flocks to Narikaton-Darnussia as relaxed rules are maintained
February 18th, 5418

Doressa: Nsanian fastfood company FoodFuel has announced the opening of 12 new branches in Narikaton and Darnussia, putting the total number of FoodFuel branches at 41 since their arrival in the country. In 5414 Nsanlosa and Narikaton-Darnussia signed a historic trade agreement, significantly easing trade regulations and making it easier for companies to settle in both Nsanlosa and Narikaton-Darnussia. Now, 4 years later, the relaxed rules are bringing more business to both countries as many see the deal and subsequent relationship of the two countries as a permanent thing. Nsanian and Narik-Darnussian officials have repeated remarks on potentialy furthering the deal while also committing themselves to at least maintain the current deal, forming a idea of permanence surrounding the newfound relationship of the two countries.

Besides FoodFuel countless of other Nsanian companies have settled in Narikaton-Darnussia, seeing the experienced Narik-Darnussian workforce as a opportunity to improve their companies. Bigger names that have settled in the country include SUV manufacturer Hills and software company Megabite, with countless of smaller and medium sized bussinesses also setting up shop in this new and relatively open market. Narik-Darnussian companies have also settled in Nsanlosa, with notably many finance based companies setting up shop around the capital where the Nsanian finance sector is experiencing significant growth. In the area of tourism many Narik-Darnussian companies are constructing resorts and entertainment along the Nsanian coast, with the Province of Mukina experiencing the bulk of this investment. Many Narik-Darnussian tourists are already coming to the Nsanian coast with companies from the country itself now seeing a opportunity to see a profitable return on their investments here.

The Reichsministerum of External Affairs refused to comment on a rumoured visit to Narikaton-Darnussia, as several high ranking officials have suggested that State President Akina herself is willing to visit the Artanian nation, potentially making it the first official state visit of our head of state.

Pressure on President increases as party looks toward parliamentarism
August 18th, 5418

Haradesa: State President Akina is under pressure from her own party as elements of the former Nsanian Democracy are pressuring the President to make a move towards parliamentarism. Moderate members of the former KVP have joined this growing oppossition which now encompasses nearly half the party. While State President Akina has worked in recent years to centralize power into her own position as president many see the current conflict in Kagba combined with a desire for more political freedoms as a sign that things need to change. While Akina has significant influence, just like her predecessor her power isnt unltimited. The party, now the BDU, is now ready to explode with new ideas about constitutional arrangements. The upcoming party congress in January is expected to see proposals by the moderates to enact constitutional ammendments to severely restrict presidential powers while enhancing the powers of the Reichskanzler.

Behind the scenes State President Akina is seemingly preparing to undercut this movement, working on ammendments herself that would at least acknowledhe the desire for more parliamentary power. She has so far strongly defended the Electoral Reform Act and the State Defense Decree which bans left-wing parties but has recently indicated to be willing to increase political plurality in the country. Her recent appointment of a "Special Commission on Kagban Peace" is seen as a first step towards a potential political solution to the Kagban insurgency and her demeanour towards moderate party members has changed from hostile to conciliatory, likely as she sees the growing power of this wing within the party.

Five dead in Haradesa Disco attack
August 24th, 5418

Haradesa: In a bomb attack on a Haradesa disco club at least five people have died and another 102 have been wounded. The attack has been claimed by the Popular Democratic Movement, one of the main insurgent groups in Kagba. The attack is seen as the first succesfull attack outside of Kagba province. Eli Kifeda, Director of "Das Büro", announced shortly after the attack that the bureau has prevented at least 42 potential attacks in other parts of the country since the start of the Kagban conflict, with this attack the only succesfull attack so far. State President Akina is set to visit the disco where the attack took place tonight to show her respect and talk with law enforcement officials. The Haradesa Metro Police will lead the investigation into the attack with the Reichspolizei - Zentral to play a supportive role. Reichskomissar of the Reichspolizei Zentral Ima Barasa has announced that all assets of the department are at the disposal of local police in their effort to investigate the attack.

The Reichspolizei has also increased security in the wider Capital Territory and is working with the BNS in enhancing intelligence gathering to potentially pick up chatter of the organizers of the attack. The PDM thus claimed the attack, with its leader Ushan Zawati stating that "as long as Kagba remains opressed, Nsanlosa should fear." State President Akina is also to meet with Director Kifeda to evaluate what went wrong that allowed this attack, with the president reportedly furious about the apparent lack of readiness and the weak response by law enforcement after the attack. The attacker is suspected to still roam free within the Capital Territory.

State President Akina invites crown prince Anasa to Diessenstal Hall
February 5th, 5419

Haradesa: State President Akina in what many describe as a shrewd move as invited crown prince Anasa of the House of Usian to a meeting in Diessenstal Hall. The invitation is seen by some as a political move by the president, who is currently in a political standoff with her own party. It is likely that Akina will invite Anasa to sit on the Nsanian throne, a throne that has been vacant for decades, in an effort to preserve her own power. Lobbying efforts by high ranking party members to garner more monarchist support within the ruling party also points to this possibibility. Moderate wing leader Igo Faraji has openly criticized the invitation, citing that "the last thing this country needs is another monarch." But support for monarchy has remained unusually high especially in rural areas in the country, with many missing the days of tradition, with the House of Usian directly descendant of the first settlers that founded modern Nsanlosa.

Crown Prince Anasa has been in exile in Dorvik since he took over leadership of the House of Usian, with his visit to Nsanlosa the first visit by a former monarch in history. If Akina her perceived plans succeed she might have sidelined the pro-parliamentarist group by cutting the presidency out of the equation entirely. It is unlikely that a return to monarchy would change much in Nsanlosa however, as the intelligence community as well as the NDF would benefit more from stability then a chaotic transition, likely keeping the function of most state institutions the same if the plan of President Akina is to succeed. It is unclear on what side each different agency and branch might be in case of a forcefull return of the monarch.

First elections see BDU win majority
August 14th, 5420

Haradesa: The first elections under the new Kaiser has seen the Civic Democratic Union win a majority of seats, winning 139 seats in the 250 seat Große Reichsversammlung. This means the political ploy of former State President Kesi Akina has paid off and she is likely to be seated as Reichskanzler in the next few days. After a year of political maneavouring Akina and her allies had managed to push throughy the reform needed to put (former) crown prince Anasa on the throne. When the votes were in four months ago it ensured that Anasa was crowned "Kaiser des Reiches, Beschützer des Volkes" or Emperor of the Realm, Protector of the People. After decades without someone on the Maroon throne, Anasa I took his steps into the Maroon Palace and became the head of state of the country.

Following this transition additional changes were made, with the NDF renamed the "Reichswehr" or Realms Defense and its subsequent branches renamed the "Reichsheer", "Reichsluftwaffe" and the "Reichsmarine". As expected, under pressure of the intelligence and security communities, all other institutions remained in place, ensuring a smooth and stable transition of power. Kaiser Anasa has, under these new provisions, taken most powers of the former State Presidency with him. The title of "chief executive" has however been given to the Reichskanzler and the Kaiser is also been removed from being able to attend cabinet meetings. Powers he however keeps are the ability to dissolve the Große Reichsversammlung, to lead the armed forces, to appoint security personell and leadership, to appoint a Reichskanzler at his/her discretion, to appoint a cabinet (on the chancellor's recommendation) and to declare martial law or write renamed "Reichsdekrete".

This new constitutional arrangement have made scholars agree that the country is to be classified as a semi-constitutional monarchy, with the monarch gaining immense political power as well. It seems that Kesi Akina has, in an effort to retain power, gone to great lengths in her battle with party moderates and given the new monarchy more power the initially intended. But her goal of retaining the title of national leader seems to be succeeding, as she is likely to be appointed Reichskanzler by Kaiser Anasa after which she is to form a government, having sidelined moderates in her party she is likely to go on a more conservative course.

Results of the Grand Assembly of the Realm
BDU 139 seats +
Demokratische Allianz 111 seats +

Nsanlosa condemns Vascanian coup, bans travel to the country
February 8th, 5421

Haradesa: Reichsminister of External Affairs Niko Khalfani has announced a travel ban towards and from Vascania following the recent coup by the country its Armed Forces. Reichsminister Khalfani further criticized the coup for being a "potentially destabilizing act that can see its effects in Dovani as well." He urged for calm and restraint and has called for the "quick return of civilian rule" in the country. Vascania is one of the major power brokers in the region, having been extremely influential in shaping regional geopolitics. This coup marks a potentially vital point for the region as it is trying to find its footing once more. The travel ban now imposed on Vascania prevents any private citizen from visiting the country or any Vascanian to come to Nsanlosa. In addition the Reichsministry of External Affairs has started a operation to repatriate at least 2000 Nsanians currently still residing in Vascania, arguing that "the current political situation makes it dangerous for the average Nsanian to stay in Vascania."

Reichskanzler Akina expressed her willingness to work with the new military regime "as long as the intend to restore civilian rule is sincere." She expressed her further hopes that Vascania remains on a path of cooperation with regional partners, ensuring stability for its neighbours and trade in the Red Bass Ocean.
