Ostland to Change National Flag Back to the Eastern Cross


This is the post apartheid Ostlander flag and which is known by its more common name The Eastern Cross (Ostkreuz)

The Eastern Land Council has approved bringing back the Eastern Cross to once again be the flag of Ostland. For centuries this flag has represented the two main ethnic groups inside of Ostland the Hulstro-Ostlander people and the Kunihito who have learned to live in relative peace and harmony for many centuries. The old cross which simply was a flag to symbolize the Hulstrian population only is not symbolic of the nation anymore and it was thought that it should stop representing Ostland. The Eastern Cross is well liked by most Ostlanders and symbolizes Ostland's independence from Hulstria as well as deep ties it has with that country all in one. Ostland has created its own culture, identity and ethnicity but it cannot be denied that Hulstria to this day plays an important role in Ostlander society. The Eastern Cross more than any other flag recognizes and represents this.

The decision was made in a near unanimous decision. The truth of the matter is that the former flag of Ostland had near zero ties with the country and that the Eastern Cross holds more significance with the population. The Eastern Cross has long been a symbol of might and unity for Ostland once a crownland of Hulstria but now a thriving independent country.

President of the Eastern Land Council Kristine Bierwirth made a statement saying that

We cannot forget our history but we can remember why we are who we are and what makes our country great. The Eastern Cross symbolizes this great country, our roots and our commitment to peace, harmony and stability in our own country but Dovani as a whole. The Eastern Cross celebrates who we are as Ostlanders and the things we have fought against to get to where we are today. This flag is for everyone here and celebrates freedom, liberty, self determination, our national pride and so much more. I am very happy that the Eastern Land Council approved of this change overwhelmingly and I really hope that this will better represent our country for many years to come!

Ostland Furthers Calls for "Eradication" of Extremist Fascism from Hulstria

The Ostland Government has announced that it will be bringing attention to the international community the continued Fascism and radicalization inside Hulstria's borders. The case is being brought to the WDU which may result in action being taken against the "Republican Party of Hulstria" and anyone related to the radical movement. The pattern of radicalism inside of Hulstria is clear as it has had several ethnic cleansing, civil wars and other region wide conflicts in the past century and many more throughout its history. The Archduchy of Ostland for one is becoming sick and tired of radicalism across the border and believes that a coalition of nations is needed to solve the systemic crisis in the country.

Ostland throughout its history has followed its Septemberist roots in separating itself from the madness of Hulstria and paving its own path forward but time and time again it has been dragged back into issues inside of Hulstria, many of these issues stemming from radicalism in Hulstria.

Speaking to the Eastern Land Council the President of Ostland Kristine Bierwirth said

It is clear a pattern of ethnic violence and Fascism exists in Hulstria throughout its history. Now is the time to rid our neighbors or this stain that is not only in our region but tearing apart many of our families and relatives. I cannot deny the special relationship Hulstria and Ostland share but Dean and his radicals must be brought to justice and eradicated from the Hulstrian conscience for the betterment of Hulstria but for the betterment of Dovani. I urge our allies and friends across Terra and especially our friends in the WDU to take this call to action and send a task force to deal with this problem.

It is clear that the mood in Wolfsheim is extremely sour and bitter towards the Republicans in Hulstria and that Ostland is not afraid to lead the charge towards intervention against these radicals. The questions now remains. Who will answer the call?

President Yumi Ichiho to "Declare War" on Gender wage gap


Yumi Ichiho has been a massive supporter of a more fair and equal wage between men and women inside of Ostland's society, one that has seen historic trends of wage gaps between men in women in Ostlander society

Ostland has had a long history of unequal pay between men and women in similar positions of workplaces. This has stemmed from the historical ties of the Ostlander people to the highly conservative Kunihito and Hulstrian ethnic groups that make up the nation of Ostland today. Many companies have been sued in Ostland for workplace discrimination and unfair wages. Today the President of the Eastern Land Council Yumi Ichiho called for a "declaration of war" against workplace discrimination. The decision is widely being praised by the center-right but arguments by the more far right say that the problem seemingly does not exist in Ostland.

To counter this problem the President has signed an executive decision creating the Ostlander Ministry of Gender Equality which will be the Government's way of investigating and taking action to curb this discrimination in Ostlander business, trade and government. Speaking to reporters Ichiho said that

This country has long been conscious about ethnic equality but we have let gender inequality grow and fester inside of our country. If we are to be a more fair society we must ensure that regardless of sex that everyone is entitled to equal pay. For too long we have seen women work in the same sectors, for the same positions and alongside their male coworkers and get paid less than them. It is my mission to ensure that this is dealt with and that our society is fair and welcoming to all those who want to work and for those who want to contribute to society that you will be paid the same as anyone else who works the same position as you.

Edamura Yume the new Minister of Gender Equality

The first Minister of Gender Equality will be Edamura Yume a pioneering CEO and activist for equal pay and heiress of the software firm Conlink. She has been touted as a "leftist" from more right wing media while centrists and women's activist groups in Ostland are highly supportive of. The Ministry of Gender Equality will be spending months and years investigating in an official government inquiry which will look at inequality inside of Ostland's business culture and Ostland's society as a whole.

President Yumi Ichiho Resigns - Finance Minister Andrej Wagner becomes the Next President of Ostland

The President of Ostland Yumi Ichiho has resigned citing a "need to spend time with family". Ichiho is a trailblazer in the Ostland political scene, someone who has brought an Ostlander sense of Septemberism and a major victory for Ostland People's Party who have now proven their capability of forming a stable government. The Ostland Government has been transformed and become extremely active in affairs in Dovani and especially with the problems in next door Hulstria. The leadership of Yumi Ichiho cannot be understated in changing Ostlander foreign and domestic policy.

Filling the large shoes of Ichiho is the former Finance Minister now President Andrej Wagner. Wagner is a moderate in the party and someone who is a respected and admired across Ostlander politics. Formerly he was the Mayor of Wolfsheim before being appointed to Ichiho's cabinet. Wagner is known for a conservative fiscal policy but moderate on social issues. He has praised attempts at increasing public healthcare access for Ostlanders as well as Ostland's current policy of making equal the two main ethnic groups in Ostland.

Currently Ostland and Dovani are facing several challenges, diplomatically things have boiled over in Hanzen as Yingdala and Hanzen are at odds over naval fleets which has now involved Lourenne and much of the world to react. Also Ostland is under threat by the current closure of the Aldegar canal which sends shipments vital to Dovani through its locks. The new President has called for "Peace in Dovani and Peace in Terra", and has offered the Archduchy of Ostland to mediate talks in helping Dovani get out of this crisis. As for the ongoing situation in Aldegar the Ostlander Government has stated they will be monitoring it closely, a response on par with many other nations in Terra.

The age of Ichiho has ended and now a new President will take office in Ostland. It remains to be seen how the new President will impact Ostland but we can hope that he will impact it positively.

Ostland to Host a Summit of Dovani Countries

The Ostlander Government has announced that diplomatic talks are being prepared in Wolfsheim between a gathering of Dovani nations. The diplomatic talks are aimed at solving Dovani centric issues and especially the recent clashes between Dovani states in Southern Dovani and the rest of Dovani as a whole. Dovani has been in a state of tension and chaos and it has been clear that there needs to be a discussion and a place to be able to do that. To be able to do this Ostland is in talks with other Dovani states to have a place to discuss the issues that Dovani faces, and a place where dialogue and diplomacy.

The event will take place at the Christof Guttmacher Convention Center and Opera House in Wolfsheim. The participants are yet to be finalized along with the discussions being put forward but it is heavily implied that the Western Dovani Union will be present at the event and that it will partially lead the diplomatic event.

These talks will ensure that Dovani does not fall into violence and war but to discuss and work through problems through diplomacy and peace.

Ostland Quietly Accepts the Dorvish Royal Family as Asylum Seekers

With the passing of the Kingdom of Dorvik and a turn towards a new Socialist Government, the Royal Family of Dorvik have left the country out of an abundance of caution. The Ostland State has accepted the House of Faust-Essen has political asylum seekers. For time immeasurable the Dorvish and Ostlander people have been deeply connected culturally, politically and politically. The Ostland and Dorvish Royal Families have also historically been extremely close for centuries with Dorvik and Ostland cooperation in trade military and culturally. Many people of Dorvish decent reside in Ostland making it a massive diaspora in the country.

The agreement made between the House of Faust-Essen and the Ostlander Government is not public knowledge but the Dorvish Royals have bought a large house inside of Ostland and will be able to stay until the public's opinion changes in Dorvik in the future. The moving of the Dorvish monarchy to Ostland is a major pitfall for Dorvish dominance in Artania and the symbolic last nail in the coffin of the old Dorvik that has existed for centuries. Now Dorvik has changed and the world has changed. Ostland has become a safe haven of Conservatism and Monarchism in Dovani. For now the people of Ostland and the Government are seen as one of the most stable and steady administrations in not only all of Dovani but Terra as a whole as well and the Dorvish Royal Family clearly thinks that Ostland is a safe place to go to, which should be a good feeling for Ostlanders.
