Breaking: Capitol in disarray as tanks approach Palace of the Presidency, attempt to seize government
Though reports continue to flow in, it seems the attempted coup d'état attempt has been thwarted - but the president alongside key members of the cabinet have already fled into neighboring Ostland, fearing for their lives.

BAATRYNSENTII - The New Verhamese capitol was awoken to the sound of gunfire and intermittent tank fire, as forces loyal to the former Chief of the General Staff, Jambyn Tömörkhüslee, have clashed with hastily-assembled defense forces comprising police units and pro-government forces quickly activated to Baatrynsentii. The New Verham News Agency has been safely redirected out of the capitol to a safe location, and will attempt to provide any and all information as it surfaces. At the present moment, intense fighting raged until ten in the morning, where pro-Tömörkhüslee forces were seen withdrawing from strategic locations around the capitol, most importantly the Palace of the Presidency, and the meeting place of the national cabinet. No offices were occupied, nor the parliament building, according to pro-government forces. Intense fighting continued as the forces of Marshal Tömörkhüslee sought to retreat, evidently seeking to push for another attempt to dislodge currently-assembled divisions.

In the initial assault, president Shudargaünen was quickly escorted out of the Palace of the Presidency, where he, alongside various officials, fled into neighboring Ostland, effectively leaving what remains of the government in the capitol in a state of complete disarray. The attack came as an absolute shock to members of the government who remained, with few believing that the former head of the armed forces would seek to violently dislodge the currently-elected democratic government via a coup d'état. Despite a strategic victory, the outlook seems grim - forces defending the capitol were hit hard, taking heavy initial casualties and suffering a loss of vehicles and equipment. Key government sites were described by one soldier as "absolute bloodbaths", and remarked that forces were stretched increasingly thin. "We defended for now, but it seems Marshal Tömörkhüslee's forces will mount a second attempt," he stated to SVMA field reporters, before grimly adding: "And we may not hold it a second time."

Appearing in a seemingly rehearsed message from an undisclosed location, Marshal Jambyn Tömörkhüslee declared the current government to be "illegitimate", and remarked that the coup was "absolutely necessary", for the sake of preserving the nation from "liberal perversions". He declared in the same address to be an "avowed nationalist", and claimed that his forces only sought to save New Verham from itself - "This bloodshed is tragic, but it ultimately falls at the hands of the so-called 'democratic' government," he stated in his prepared remarks. "Our nation does not fool itself. Democracy is not tangible to the people of our great country, nor is it compatible with our values - The people stand with me. Our military stands with me. You, forces loyal to the traitors in Baatrynsentii: I ask that you lay down your arms and join me. For our nation! For our people! For our sacred traditions! You seek only to prolong the inevitable. Make no mistake - we will, indeed, mount a second attempt. And our men will fight with such tenacious strength and bravery. Because our livelihood depends on it. For that, we cannot, and will not fail. The president has already fled the country in cowardice. The capitol is filled with nothing but traitorous snakes, and we shall grasp them by our fist and skewer them with our bayonets!"

Pro-government forces have already moved to fortify other major cities, alongside setting up for offensive maneuvers in alleged pro-nationalist areas. From an undisclosed location in Ostland, president Shudargaünen sought to rally the people with a hastily-arranged video address, but many recognized the reality of the situation. "The former Chief of the General Staff has evidently been waiting for this for some time," a senior military official stated to SVMA. "Countless divisions have openly mutinied against the government, placing our forces in a rough position, and stretching what we have currently deployed thin. We will fight, that much is for sure, but it is unlikely that we will keep control of the capital."

A lone tank moves along a dirt road towards Baatrynsentii, evidently under the command of forces loyal to disgraced Chief of the General Staff Jambyn Tömörkhüslee. The Marshal's coup d'état attempt has been thwarted at the present, but pro-government forces are stretched thin - and likely will not hold the capitol under an increasingly likely second attempt.

Breaking: Pro-nationalist forces successfully gain control of capitol in second coup d'état attempt, government on verge of collapse
Gathering their forces for a second attempt, pro-nationalist forces under Marshal Jambyn Tömörkhüslee have successfully gained control of key areas of the capitol, bringing the government to a state of near-total collapse, as pro-government forces effectively fight for themselves, or surrender to join arms with forces loyal to the Marshal.

BAATRYNSENTII - The streets were once again lit up with the crack of gunfire, and, for this attempt, heavy artillery shelling of key districts under pro-government forces. After the first attempt, government forces were stretched exceedingly thin in an attempt to cover as much area as possible, and to dispatch further into the interior to engage forces loyal to Marshal Tömörkhüslee. Divisions loyal to the government fought a bloody second defense of the capitol, before forcing a retreat to the outskirts of Baatrynsentii and surrounding neighborhoods. Recognizing the futility of continuing an offensive back into the city, most forces attempting to cover the retreat have reportedly either surrendered to pro-nationalist forces or met a grisly end in brutal street-to-street combat. The loss of most defensive forces within the capitol has effectively sent the government into a state of total collapse, allowing Marshal Jambyn Tömörkhüslee to sweep in with little resistance. Among the shelled roads near the Palace of the Presidency, the former Chief of the General Staff declared himself President of New Verham, and dispatched martial law across areas under his control, alongside implementing strict curfews.

In a hastily-recorded speech outside the steps of the Palace of the Presidency, he urged calm from the populace of Baatrynsentii and the rest of the nation - but vowed that fighting would continue across "any area that the traitors hold", effectively turning a bloody two separate coup d'état attempts into a civil war. "We hold the capitol, which has been a great victory for our men. But the work is not finished, the fight is not over - far from it," he stated outside the former president's residence. "We will continue to move across the country, securing as much as possible from their forces. Any area that the traitors hold shall be overrun and swiftly crushed." The Marshal then ascended the steps of the Palace of the Presidency, in an apparent attempt to move much of his logistic and strategic capabilities towards the presidential residence, effectively converting it into a field headquarters. From there, Tömörkhüslee announced an immediate ban on the United Liberal Party, and expanded the powers of the police to "deal with any and all threats". He has also implemented a blanket ban on news outlets, as well as public assembly, remarking that "purposeful misinformation was greatly dangerous in times of war".

What remains of the current government is largely uncertain, but the seizure of the capitol has likely rendered the previously democratically-elected government in a complete state of collapse. Numerous officials are reported dead or missing, with the death toll expected to rise in the coming days. Pro-government forces continue to assemble in a variety of cities and towns across the nation, but the morale and loyalty of remaining units is, according to military sources, tenuous at best. "The loss of the capitol was a massive blow to morale," one officer on the ground stated to SVMA. "We can only expect further surrenders to Marshal Tömörkhüslee's forces in the coming days. Ground communication is all over the place right now, and many units are essentially acting on their own accord."

The shocking events of the past two months have sent the economy in a state of total freefall, effectively unwinding all the progress of the five years of president Shudargaünen's time in office. During the first coup d'état attempt, panic buying surged, and a mass selloff of shares in previously growing companies on the New Verham Stock Exchange by brokers has resulted in a rapidly growing economic crisis in the country. The value of the national currency, the Guilder, has plummeted in mere weeks, with inflation rising sharply. Destroyed or disrupted supply chains have also contributed to an increasing shortage of essential supplies across the country, made worse by apparent reports of fires being set to crop fields in farms to the west of the country, which puts potentially millions at risk of hunger as food insecurity increases.

A tank column, reportedly belonging to pro-nationalist forces, moves towards a suspected rallying point of pro-government forces. Forces loyal to Marshal Jambyn Tömörkhüslee have launched a second coup d'état attempt, proving much more successful, with divisions seizing control of the Palace of the Presidency, the Parliament, and the meeting place of the national cabinet. The seizure of power has rapidly escalated into a full-scale civil war, with reportedly hundreds of thousands of citizens being displaced in the ongoing fighting, and casualties, both civilian and military, are quickly growing.

After witnessing atrocities at the hands of Marshal Tömörkhüslee's forces in Baatrynsentii, 12th Armor Brigade declares mutiny, forms left-wing "National Front for the Liberation of New Verham"
Led by Shlajkai Kezkairmsko, an ethnic Jelbek and accomplished commander of the 12th "Hawks of the Republic" Armor Brigade, the officer has branded the Marshal a fascist after witnessing pro-nationalist soldiers execute civilians and burn homes in the capitol, and has rallied the men of his unit to mutiny, gathering other forces to form a left-wing militia.

BAATRYNSENTII - The currently ongoing civil war, which has reached its seventh month of intense fighting, has seemingly split even further along ideological lines, as forces formerly under the command of the 12th "Hawks of the Republic" Armor Brigade, led by accomplished officer and ethnic Jelbek Shlajkai Kezkairmsko, have declared a mutiny from Marshal Tömörkhüslee's forces. The tank brigade's mutiny comes after witnessing pro-nationalist forces executing civilians in the capitol, alongside burning homes and looting civilian property, declaring the general to be a fascist. Their commander also stated his "profound" disillusionment with the now-decrepit republic and capitalism, raising likeminded anti-fascist divisions under the banner of the "National Front for the Liberation of New Verham", a broadly left-wing militia. Forces of the NFLNV have already engaged in skirmishes with nationalist forces across the nation, and are quickly gaining victories, cementing their control in a variety of areas across the country, primarily consolidating their forces in the central parts of the country, alongside the more agrarian west.

Forces under the NFLNV's control have wasted no time in offering immediate humanitarian aid and essential supplies in areas under their control, reportedly gathering reserve caches of food to alleviate a worrying growth of hunger after the burning of crop fields last November sought to place millions at risk of food insecurity. Impromptu medical tents have been set up in various towns and villages, and in the cities under NFLNV control, strike teams have coordinated guerrilla tactics to push back attempted reclamation efforts by nationalist forces. Various soldiers belonging to the left-wing militia were seen combing through the rubble for trapped survivors, and have, according to their own sources, rescued as much as twenty people this month from bombed-out buildings. The NFLNV has also been seen arming civilians in various areas, forming auxiliary brigades to stay behind in areas under their control while most forces have begun a slow push towards the capitol.

The group's goals and intentions are very much clear - their leader, Shlajkai Kezkairmsko, has sought to liberate the nation from forces under the Marshal's control, and to install a socialist republic in the place of the former democratic administration. "This war has changed many men, but it has also upended things I believed in for a long time," Kezkairmsko stated to SVMA's on-ground reporters. "I believed in patriotism, what the Marshal said, but after seeing those who were supposed to be protecting our country shoot innocent civilians like that... It was tragic. I could not bring myself to continue to fight for such a cause. The general is a fascist, it is as simple as that. And it was the rampant, unchecked capitalism that formed the natural conditions for this bloody conflict to occur - so I have grown very much disillusioned to the former republic, yes." When asked about the possibility of granting a military tribunal to Tömörkhüslee and various detachments under his command, Kezkairmsko was blunt: "There is no quarter for fascists. Those who feared for their lives if they refused service? Yes, they shall be welcomed with open arms into our movement. But the others? A bullet, no more, no less."

Within areas under NFLNV control, groups for mutual aid have already begun being formed, alongside provisional workers councils, to coordinate supply logistics to Kezkairmsko's forces. A provisional socialist government has already been formed, and has enacted a slew of decrees from its temporary capitol in the western agricultural and industrial city of Bayanbulag, such as nationalizing previously privatized key services under the Shudargaünen administration, initiating land reform, and seizing property and assets of former corporations and individuals. Private property of workers and peasants was respected however, drawing criticism from more hardline Metzist-Leonidist elements of the NFLNV, but these were quickly shut down by Kezkairmsko. A later proclamation by Kezkairmsko's provisional government also placed armed civilian militias outside homes of workers and various factories, to ensure "the immediate protection of the property and workplaces of the New Verhamese proletariat".

The group has declared its immediate mutiny from Marshal Tömörkhüslee's forces, branding him a fascist and seeking to liberate the country from his armies, and to establish a socialist republic. Its leader, Shlajkai Kezkairmsko, an ethnic Jelbek, has declared his "profound" disillusionment with both the current republic and capitalism.

Pro-nationalist forces surprised by seizure of capitol from third faction in apparent counter-coup, divisions retreat from Baatrynsentii as Major-General Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil secures hold
Led by Major-General and current commander of the 6th Army Brigade Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil, the officer has refused to lay down arms for either forces, and has rallied divisions from both factions to split off and form a third group within the still-ongoing civil war, entering into the nationalist-held capitol and executing a surprise counter-coup against Marshal Tömörkhüslee, which has proven largely successful, causing a retreat of the Marshal's forces into the outskirts, alongside himself.

BAATRYNSENTII - After holding the capitol for nearly a year, nationalist forces have officially retreated from Baatrynsentii in a stunning counter-coup executed by forces under the command of Major-General Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil, now forming a third faction in the still-ongoing civil war. Though fighting was intense, gunfire has fallen silent from the city proper, while small skirmishes continue along the outskirts and surrounding neighborhoods of Baatrynsentii. Now firmly securing hold of major government offices and parliament, the leader of the 6th Army Brigade has vowed to take the fight to both the socialists and nationalists, after refusing to take up arms for either faction. It is reported that nationalist forces will seek to regroup by moving to the east of the country, and attempting to dislodge leftist militias from the north, to form a cohesive area of control. Marshal Tömörkhüslee was among the divisions retreating from the capitol, and declared that he would return to seize the capitol once again.

Remaining a somewhat minor figure in the armed forces with a nonetheless impeccable service record, Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil stated his desires for moving against both factions were due to the sharp ideological lines forming in the conflict, alongside the de facto collapse of the former democratic government. A nationalist but not to the extreme, the Major-General's forces mark the emergence of a more moderate faction in the civil war, one that vows a "swift victory" and for the return of a democratic government once again, but not under the roughshod reforms of the Shudargaünen administration. After securing the capitol, among the first acts initiated by Mönkhdevshil was the immediate suspension of all decrees introduced by Marshal Tömörkhüslee, including the state of martial law (though a case-by-case situation would be determined in areas bordering other factions), and shuttering of news outlets, stating that the New Verhamese people, and the world, had "every right" to know what was going on in the country.

Soon thereafter, forces under the command of Mönkhdevshil executed strong offensive maneuvers against nationalist forces in all areas that were quickly falling under their control. Already, according to figures released by military staff belonging to the Major-General, nationalist losses were beginning to pile up, attrition campaigns aimed at weakening supply lines were proving successful, and numerous divisions were being captured or surrendering to Mönkhdevshil's forces. Logistics specialists within the general's staff predicted that at the current rate of strategic gains, the civil war would be fully over within the span of a year, bringing great hope to a conflict that has caused untold levels of property damage, reportedly "tens of thousands" of civilian deaths, and the internal displacement of potentially millions of New Verhamese citizens, and potentially more fleeing the country.

Elsewhere, the frontlines between socialists and nationalists remained largely static, with Kezkairmsko's forces not willing to push further south, despite accruing a respectable level of civilian auxiliaries to guard crop fields and food storage shelters. A soldier who reached out to SVMA stated that the "situation in the west was growing increasingly delicate," though did state that forces were moving east to engage nationalist troops. "We're moving towards the east - in an attempt to encircle currently disoriented fascist forces moving out of the capitol, and strike them hard." From the capitol, three divisions belonging to Major-General Mönkhdevshil were reportedly ordered to move south, in a move to secure the nation's traditionally Vanukean-speaking areas and link up pockets of control within the central and coastal regions around the capitol, to better coordinate logistics and secure further control.

Mönkhdevshil refused to fight for either the nationalists, nor the communists, and has pooled troops from both forces to form a third faction in the ongoing civil war, and launched a major strategic victory with a counter-coup that has seized control of the capitol from nationalist forces, causing their retreat.

Baatrynsentii government welcomes "united response" from Dovani Pact, signals intention to set up humanitarian corridors as nationalists and socialists continue to be routed on all fronts
After continuing to secure further territory from both factions, the provisional government of Major-General Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil has welcomed the support from the Dovani Pact, and has signaled its intention to arrange for the establishment of humanitarian corridors "as soon as possible".

BAATRYNSENTII - As the forces of both Marshal Tömörkhüslee and Kezkairmsko have continued to report heavy losses at the hands of Major-General Mönkhdevshil's troops, the government in Baatrynsentii has worked arduously to establish a provisional government, clear rubble from the capitol and other towns and villages under its control, and lay the groundwork for overseeing the likely future government of New Verham. The most important priority of that has been the arranging for humanitarian corridors to be established, after the Dovani Pact signaled its growing support to dispense humanitarian aid, supplies, and to possibly establish a joint peacekeeping mission in the country. Major-General Mönkhdevshil has reportedly welcomed the news greatly, enthusiastically supporting the "united response" from the alliance, and stated that the government would work to establish safe areas for DP forces to enter New Verham "as soon as possible".

Elsewhere, the Major-General's forces had reportedly breached the defensive lines set up by the socialists in the western reaches of the country's agricultural heartlands, and had completely driven the nationalists from the south, leaving Marshal Tömörkhüslee's forces effectively contained to a pocket in the northeast of the country, according to senior military officials within the Baatrynsentii government. At the time of this publication, the forces of Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil were reporting continued successes in their offensive, stating that the majority of forces present at the initial defense were poorly-trained civilian regulars, noting a more desperate tone from last year. "This signals a change in direction from up high," an officer on the field stated to SVMA. "We're seeing civilian conscripts - militia members, really - engaging armor columns with little success. It's an unfortunate desperation coming from these socialists - using innocent civilians as cannon fodder."

The actions of the Baatrynsentii government have largely been led by the broadly-aligned "Committee for National Defense and Protection of the Constitution", or CNDPC. An all-encompassing body, the Committee has organized a majority of decrees under its leader, Major-General Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil, such as dispensing essential humanitarian aid, provide food and temporary shelters, and seek out the wounded and collect the dead. Its composition is diverse, but staunchly anti-authoritarian, comprising democrats among the military and common politicians, even including some progressives - a camp of which the Major-General apparently leans into, but denies such claims. Since its formation mere days after seizing the capitol, it has presented itself as the legitimate (and by extension sole) government of New Verham, and has stated that it will honor all prior foreign policy decisions of the Shudargaünen administration, and assigned a new provisional ambassador to the Dovani Pact, though their placement to Liore has been delayed by fighting. But it has voiced its strong opposition for the "haphazard" free market reforms of the previous government.

Structurally, the Committee functions in a temporary role as a collective head of state and government, and unified its functions with the remaining infrastructure of the former Shudargaünen administration's wartime agency, the State Bureau for Protection and Defense of the Republic, in a move to increase its efficiency in governing the regions under the Major-General's control. Other actions undertaken by the Committee have been the appointing of a provisional ambassador to the World Congress, who will attempt to fly to Whale Island to plead to the international community to dispense aid to the country, alongside offering peacekeepers as well in order to oversee and coordinate possible reconstruction efforts. Currently, the forces of the Major-General have sought to split their current divisions in two, effectively forming a two-pronged assault - one to finish off the remainder of nationalist forces in the northeast, while continuing to push into the agrarian west and northwest. While Marshal Tömörkhüslee has continued to rally his divisions, morale seems low, with more divisions having reportedly surrendered to Mönkhdevshil's forces in recent weeks.

As to the location of Marshal Tömörkhüslee, and by extension Kezkairmsko, their whereabouts are currently unknown. But the Major-General's forces have reportedly offered food and supplies to any civilian that could come forward with information - though warned that false or misleading intel could result in immediate imprisonment. "This is no game," the Major-General reportedly stated on the matter. "Aiding the nationalists or the socialists only serves to drag out this war far beyond what is necessary - escalating civilian deaths and damage. You don't have to do this. You have the power to end it - now." And predictions by military analysts may not be far off - at current rates of success for the Major-General's forces, the civil war is set to come to an end by exactly two years since the start of fighting, as both forces have reported gross logistical issues and supply shortages as forces under the command of Mönkhdevshil continue to push further into the interior.

Image
Soldiers under the command of Major-General Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil load onto an APC in an undisclosed location within the outskirts of socialist-controlled lands. As both rival factions continue to take heavy losses as the provisional government based out of Baatrynsentii continues to make strategic gains, the civil war may be signaling the entry into its final stages. Elsewhere, Dovani Pact nations pledged with growing support to commit to dispensing humanitarian aid and potentially sending peacekeeping forces to the country, under a currently-proposed resolution in the Dovani Assembly.

Baatrynsentii declares end to civil war as nationalists and socialists see "total" collapse of morale - government faces steep road to recovery ahead
After several successive victories by forces loyal to Major-General Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil, the nationalist and socialist factions of the civil war have effectively collapsed, with the capture of Marshal Jambyn Tömörkhüslee dealing a fatal blow to morale, and the socialists either surrendering or fleeing the country after the apparent flight of Shlajkai Kezkairmsko to neighboring Liore. As the dust clears, and the true scale and scope of the civil war becomes apparent, the new government in charge of the country faces a steep road to recovery ahead.

BAATRYNSENTII - The streets of the central districts of the capitol were packed with crowds this morning following the return of Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil and his forces from the north of the country, where the leader's forces took the final battle to the socialists and nationalists, successfully dealing a fatal blow to both rival factions, and effectively severing the heads of leadership for both. The military has proudly reported its capture of Marshal Jambyn Tömörkhüslee, in a state of bloodied woundedness, after a last-ditch desperate offense. The now-disgraced nationalist insurrectionist is expected to face a trial by a military tribunal, where the verdict is likely to be severe. Likewise, the socialists under Shlajkai Kezkairmsko have scattered, with some surrendering to government forces, or fleeing in tow with the revolutionary himself to neighboring Liore, where despite facing a bitter loss, the socialist vowed to return to the country and "for the anti-capitalist liberation of all great peoples of our beloved nation". Back in the capitol, Marshal of the Republic Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil, after having been unanimously promoted by senior military staff fighting alongside him, waved to crowds from a military truck and was showered with improvised confetti cut from napkin paper, staining his neat dress uniform with a diverse tapestry of bright colors.

Ascending the steps of the Palace of the Presidency, Marshal Mönkhdevshil assumed the office of head of state directly, cementing himself as the legitimate President of New Verham with little protest - though this title is, due to the current existence of the Committee for National Defense and Protection of the Constitution, partially ceremonial. He spoke with citizens affected by the civil war (albeit in the presence of light security) with a humble smile, hearing their stories of devastation of lost love ones, economic destitution, and lack of basic supplies - while vowing to improve their lives and then some. Upon entering the presidential residence, Marshal Mönkhdevshil wasted little time in getting promptly to work. A full lifting of the state of martial law in former battlegrounds of the country was enacted, the Republican Guard, a auxiliary unit of the armed forces, were activated to dispense aid and continue to help search for survivors in devastated areas, while reintroducing basic laws on public assembly.

Basic necessities such as power and water were ordered to be restored "as soon as possible", while the Committee under his leadership began to introduce a flurry of emergency measures aimed at stabilizing the economy, which has effectively spiraled in the last two years, crashing the national currency, causing the sharp rise of inflation, and leaving the country's agrarian industry teetering on the verge of collapse, with burned farmlands leaving the country at great risk of famine. The Marshal also relaxed immigration controls in order to work with neighboring nations, specifically members of the Dovani Pact, in dispensing its humanitarian aid, and beginning the work of repatriating displaced citizens who fled the country to seek refuge abroad. In his immediate reforms, which have earned him nigh-unanimous support from the public, Marshal Mönkhdevshil has renewed faith in the Republic, though the likely successor government was sure to chart a decisively different course than the prior administration. Nevertheless, the general has been already hailed as a hero in certain circles, and that reputation is only sure to grow as time goes on.

After a planned recovery period of five years, under which the country would operate effectively as a provisional government under the formal name of the "State of New Verham", the Committee for National Defense and Protection of the Constitution would order the simultaneous dissolution of itself and the transitional state, and to arrange for fresh legislative elections to be ordained as soon as possible. Marshal Mönkhdevshil has reportedly expressed interest in calls for the general to formally establish a political party - but stated that this would be considered more fully in the coming months, where the country was restored to some degree of stability and normalcy. "I have heard these calls to establish a formal political party, yes," he stated in a press conference in the Palace of the Presidency. "But it's too soon to consider such things - right now we have an enormous task ahead of us in establishing some degree of normality and stability to our nation. However, I cannot help but thank the strong outpouring of support from fraternal nations of the Dovani Pact for arranging humanitarian aid to us during the conflict - their actions will surely not be forgotten, and New Verham will surely return the favor."

As the smoke clears and the guns fall silent, the true scale of the two year long civil war has become grimly apparent for the new government in Baatrynsentii. Major industrial centers, rail and road infrastructure lie crumbled and ruined. Hundreds of thousands of lives are lost, and many more are internally displaced. Nevertheless, with the high support of the current government of Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil, the administration has entered into the recovery effort riding high, and faces even more support from the continental community.

Government begins utilizing grants offered by Liore, sets sights on restoring core services, revitalizing key industries
After committing to an arduous few months of cleanup efforts, of which the government has claimed is nearing completion, the provisional government has set its sights on the immediate restoration of core services, and the revitalization of key industries, whilst simultaneously rolling back large swaths of the Shudargaünen administration's economic reforms.

BAATRYNSENTII - With the nation having received reconstruction grants offered by Liore, both the government and the nascent private companies once more beginning their operations have taken full use of the funds, utilizing them in a variety of programs - the most important of which being the restoration of core services and key industries on behalf of the government. The Committee for National Defense and Protection of the Constitution has sought to roll back most of the privatization efforts undertaken by the Shudargaünen administration with regards to core services such as healthcare, infrastructure and education, bringing their authority under the state once more, in a time where few have protested such measures. A lion's share of funds set aside for the government proper will be aimed at revitalizing national infrastructure such as roads, highways, and rail networks, all of which have suffered extensive destruction in the two-year civil war, and the restoration of essential services such as water, electricity, housing and internet. In the aftermath of the civil war, as much as 43% of New Verhamese citizens have reported being without running water or electricity.

Both the public and private sector launched headfirst into revitalizing the devastated economy of New Verham, with the government introducing a slew of measures to kickstart the revitalization of major industries and begin a trend of steady post-war economic growth, under a more statist nature. The first sector targeted by such policies was the New Verhamese steel industry. The government has sought to award Bürged Gan, previously the nation's largest private steel manufacturer, with a variety of ruined vehicles, equipment, material, and other items for the express purpose of smelting them down once again, in a move that has been colloquially (and humorously) referred to as the "cash for tanks" plan. Financially, the provisional government announced its intention to continue emergency economic measures aimed at stabilizing the national currency and curbing inflation, which currently sits at 15.3% - down from an alarming 23.2% at the height of the civil war - but still leaves a long road ahead.

Drastic issues such as fears of a lingering famine have been somewhat subdued - in large part due to the humanitarian aid package sent by the Dovani Pact, which has brought several dozen tons of food and grain into the country, providing millions in the eastern portions of the country with adequate nutrition, though ruined road networks have delayed the delivery of food to the agrarian west, prompting humanitarian workers to seek alternate, albeit longer routes. President Mönkhdevshil has stated that the Committee is "doing everything in its power" to ensure the reestablishment of supply chains nationwide and to reduce further risk of famine by offering emergency subsidies to farmers, while offering to reimburse growers for lost crops during the war. "It is a great tragedy to see hunger in this country," the president stated to SVMA. "The sunken eyes, their distended bellies, and their cries of anguish. While we have brought food to much of the population again, there is still much more to be done."

The reconstruction grants offered by Liore are set to continue to be disbursed for a period of three years, of which the provisional government claims is "more than enough", and will adequately cover a variety of immediate projects concerning the rebuilding of New Verham's economy and industries. PetroVerham, the country's largest state-run oil and gas refiner and exporter, sought immediately to reestablish its operations, moving to repair a majority of its refineries and wells, while also utilizing its newfound funds from Liore to sell discounted gas and oil across the country, to alleviate shortages.

First post-war political party forms under leadership of president Mönkhdevshil, holds 1st National Congress to coordinate strategy in upcoming elections, charts out policy
Named the People's Action Party (Panmuan: Ardyn üil ajillagaany nam), the party is the first post-war formal political organization to form in the country. The party held its first National Congress in Baatrynsentii, where it coordinated its strategy for the distant general elections in 5101, and charted out policies, largely under the direction of its General Secretary, current president and Chairman of the Committee for National Defense and Protection of the Constitution, Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil.

BAATRYNSENTII - As the nation slowly returns to normalcy, the first post-war political party has formed today in Baatrynsentii, by figures within the Committee for National Defense and Protection of the Constitution and president Mönkhdevshil. Named the People's Action Party (Panmuan: Ardyn üil ajillagaany nam), it held its first National Congress in the capitol today, where it coordinated its strategy in the upcoming elections in 5101, as well as promulgated a formal political platform, largely under the direction of its unanimously-elected General Secretary, president Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil. Claiming to not have a formal political ideology, observers to the Congress have already noted that despite this, the party's ideology has taken a somewhat progressive tone, whilst staunchly promoting statist economic policy, believing that the haphazard reforms of the Shudargaünen administration had "disastrous" effects for the country, and directly led New Verham to the recent civil war.

After an hours-long session, the 1st National Congress ended with the formal adoption of a party constitution, which enshrined six policies and philosophies put forward by General Secretary Mönkhdevshil - them being populism, secularism, republicanism, nationalism, statism and "revolutionary progressivism". The party has already begin plans to campaign on a broadly progressive and populist platform, promoting modernization of the New Verhamese nation both economically and socially. "Our nation has led itself to this period of destitution through both haphazard naked capitalism and regressive, military-led conservatism", president Mönkhdevshil said during the Congress. "There is no other path that can ensure our nation's survival than the removal of these decrepit systems and the sweeping modernization of our institutions and society." Many voters have warmed to the party's formation, and it is expected that despite its work to prepare, the PAP will win without much issue, as no formal political parties have formed yet to mount a challenge to them.

While few have opposed the formation of the party, minor voices have expressed their concern at the formation of the PAP, claiming that its populism could lead to demagoguery - "When we see political movements attempt to appeal to the people, they can seek to utilize the people to slowly begin to cement absolute power," one anonymous, conservative-leaning political analyst stated. "From then on, any policies the party has enshrined can be shirked by its influential leadership and we find ourselves in a similar situation to the past couple centuries." With the formation of the PAP, it is largely expected that more parties will begin to form, with left-wing political organizations and groups in the country expressing interest in forming a political party, though it is expected to be a complicated process, as the government has expressed staunchly anti-communist sentiment. An official for the State Election Commission remarked that "Leftists have any right to form a political party so long as they denounce Shlajkai Kezkairmsko and his destructive communists," they stated. "The government has begun the process for moving to seek the promotion of democracy above authoritarianism by way of a variety of measures that I believe the president and the Committee will announce soon."

Conservative groups have also expressed interest in forming a political party, with reactions to the 1st National Congress being supportive of reform, but warning that the progressive beliefs and policies of president Mönkhdevshil would go too far, putting the nation "at risk of returning to great instability", believing that changes to the nation must be done at a gradual, partial pace, as opposed to sweeping changes. "We agree that there must be some degree of reform," Reiner von Hoffmann, leader of the Forum for Responsible Democracy (Dundorfian: Forum für Verantwortungsvolle Demokratie), a center-right to right-wing think tank based out of Regensburg, in the Dundorfian-speaking north stated in a press conference today. "But this is a gradual process. We're talking about changing decades of enshrined social, political, and economic policy. It is correct that the military has done disastrous things for our country and democracy, but the sweeping changes that the PAP and Mönkhdevshil are interested in may be a bridge too far."

Led by president Mönkhdevshil, the party has promoted itself as a big-tent, politically fluid party, but has enshrined a set of sweeping progressive policies and philosophies under the unanimous direction of General Secretary Mönkhdevshil.

Government moves to ban extremist organizations, formally bans the Communist Party and all preexisting ultranationalist organizations in bid to stamp out "insurrectionary" behavior
Seeking to promote democratic institutions and the integrity of the provisional government, as well as to stamp out lingering "insurrectionary" behavior, president Negtgegch Mönkhdevshil has moved to ban all extremist organizations, in a unanimous consensus from the Committee for National Defense and Protection of the Constitution.

BAATRYNSENTII - Following statements from the State Electoral Commission in April, the government has unveiled plans to formally ban political extremism on both sides of the political spectrum, starting with all preexisting ultranationalist organizations and the recently-established Communist Party, based in exile in the capital of Liore, Yamabiro. The formal ban on the Communist Party comes after desires from president Mönkhdevshil and key members of the Committee to stamp out "insurrectionary behavior", and to promote democratic institutions and the integrity of the provisional government. Extremist organizations had reportedly begun to gradually rise in influence in the immediate post-war political scene, with nationalists and socialists making moves that were "alarming" according to the interior ministry. Ultranationalist organizations had sought membership among the armed forces, prompting an immediate intervention by the Committee. "Nationalist groups were attempting to contact soldiers, and members of the officer corps," an official within the internal affairs ministry stated. "According to reports, they specifically targeted former personnel of the nationalist forces and those who would be prone to allying with them, prompting an immediate response from president Mönkhdevshil."

The move has come as not only a move to strengthening the rebuilding democracy of New Verham but also to provide a precedent for the immediate depoliticization of the armed forces by president Mönkhdevshil, of which he claimed was a key reason behind the military's constant antagonism to legally-elected governments in the past three centuries, and alongside a regressive, conservative political upper crust creating "ripe" conditions for the recent civil war. "Our armed forces are still bitterly politicized," the president stated in a press conference to clarify the government's move. "Whilst most of the armed forces have accepted their new position as a politically neutral entity, there are still some unfortunate holdouts among the corps." After the president's ban on political extremists, it is expected that a wave of dismissals, removals, and possible trials will soon follow.

Elsewhere, criticism of the ban has been limited. A small subsection of conservative groups have voiced their opposition at the government's move, calling it a shaky precedent for free speech in the democratic rebuilding, though condemned the groups for their participation in the civil war. Broadly, the move has been very much well received, with as many as 53% of New Verhamese citizens favoring the ban, according to a poll. "This marks a watershed moment," one political analyst stated. "It signals fully the government's commitment to strengthening democratic institutions in our nascent, post-war republic. Extremism brought the most brutal bloodshed in this nation in decades - centuries, even! President Mönkhdevshil has made clear that these groups will not make gains unlike they did previously."

The Communist Party's Politburo, mentioned in the aforementioned capitol of Liore, Yamabiro, soundly condemned the president and government's move, but noticeably did not refer to Mönkdevshil as a fascist. "We condemn soundly these moves made by the current government in our nation," Shlajkai Kezkairmsko stated during a meeting of the Politburo with minor officials of Liore's ruling socialist government. "The working class has a right to aggravate for better lives, negotiate fair wages and control over their labor. Banning our party, even though we currently exist (regretfully) in exile in the fraternal socialist nation of Liore, is a show of force - indicating that the government is against leftism, despite the fact that the government claims to represent progressive values." The Communist Party's statements have been criticized by the government, calling Kezkairmsko's condemnations hypocritical.
