Parliament to grant agricultural subsidies to farmers
in bid to kickstart crop production, increase food exports

In a comprehensive bill, ULP deputies in parliament have sought to reward farmers with subsidies aimed at lowering costs,
growing inexpensive crops, and diversifying production, in a bid to increase agricultural exports from New Verham.

BAATRYNSENTII - Agriculture has traditionally remained a key sector of the New Verhamese economy, primarily done through subsistence farming and the sale of traditional crops such as wheat, rice, potatoes, and maize, among others. But crop exports have largely remained low, often due to a lack of interest in buying nationally-made crops. Seeking to bridge that gap, parliament has passed a comprehensive bill aimed at rewarding farmers with a slew of subsidies, with the overall aim of lowering costs for operation, encouraging the growing of more inexpensive and hardy crops, and diversifying production, in a bid to increase food exports to the rest of Dovani and Terra at large. Alongside this, the government has sponsored incentives in the dairy and meat industries, to encourage farmers to branch out and foster the growth of private agribusiness companies. "The farmer is the backbone of the nation", one MP commented. "He is the country and the country is him."

The lack of produce going to local markets, with most food instead being grown by small farms for citizens themselves in subsistence farming, has resulted in higher food prices at traditional open-air markets and large-scale grocery stores. ULP deputies in parliament have addressed this, adding provisions that would help flatten costs for food nationwide, incentivizing farmers to legitimately sell their product. This lack of locally-grown agribusiness was reflected in trade figures last year published by the finance ministry, which segmented trade volumes and indicated that over 53% of produce found on store shelves in New Verham came from foreign imports. "At the forefront of our drive to usher in the free market to our nation is the small business owner," a parliamentary spokesperson for the ULP stated in a candid interview. "Agriculture can not only serve as the traditional backbone of our nation, but also a staggering new sector of our economy. There's really a whole new revolution possible here."

In a bid to shore up capital, the foreign affairs minister expressed his interest in discussing a free trade agreement with neighboring Ostland specifically with regards to offering tariff-free exports of crops, meat, and dairy with Ostland-based businesses and corporations, laying the groundwork for greater economic cooperation with New Verham's northern neighbor, and fostering increased diplomatic ties. "Food connects peoples and cultures," the foreign minister stated. "Our office would be keenly interested in possibly discussing a free trade agreement on agricultural goods, and to possibly further develop more comprehensive trade treaties in the future." Alongside the possibility of trading goods with each other, the government expressed its interest in purchasing newer farm equipment, namely tractors, harvesters, and other heavy machinery from Ostland, in a move to quickly modernize the nation's currently outdated models.

The Shudargaünen administration stated that, were the talks to be successful, that it would offer the purchased equipment to farmers at a partially discounted price, or offer to waive debt, or possibly grant financing, in exchange for acquisition.

Recently, the government has passed a comprehensive agricultural bill aimed at granting various subsidies to farmers, in a bid to drive food costs down and diversify production, as well as grow more inexpensive crops. Agricultural modernization has also been a key focus of the legislation, both granting five-year vehicle tax credits for new machines purchased by farmers, and wishing to purchase farming machinery from neighboring Ostland.

Government to seek immediate application into Dovani Pact, foreign minister flies to Liore for talks
Citing the ongoing Lourennais civil war as part of a worrying potential trend of instability on the Dovani continent, the government has given its full interest in joining the Dovani Pact as a full member, sending foreign minister Chötgörkhaaral to Liore for talks with representatives of the alliance.

BAATRYNSENTII - With growing concerns among government officials and foreign policy analysts that the Lourennais civil war could present a worrying trend of instability among the continent, the government has voiced its keen interest in officially applying for membership within the Dovani Pact, the continent's leading economic, political and military alliance. The move has not been without internal opposition. Right-leaning members among the ULP cite Liore's status as a socialist republic as a strong indicator that the alliance has been, since its formation two centuries ago, to inch the continent towards an accord of leftist nations. This was soundly criticized by both the president's office and the foreign minister, who stated that "mutual cooperation and guarantees of security hold no political bias - the integration of nations in diplomatic, economic, and military affairs is wholly apolitical". The government stated that it would seek to apply for entry as a full member into the alliance, which, if approved, would make New Verham the eight member of the DP overall, and the fourth nation to hold status as a full member.

Foreign minister Chötgörkhaaral flew to Liore to hold discussions with members of the alliance, and to meet with members of the organization's assembly. The government also sent Chief of the General Staff and Marshal of the Republic Jegu Tengeranchin to Ostland for talks with both members of the Defense Council and the respective military leaders of constituent nations of the DP. Also accompanying the general was ethnic Ostlander and Colonel-General Wilhelm von Pohl-Wischnewski, to both serve as an interpretor and to smooth potential future military correspondence between New Verham's northern neighbor. The government stated it was also eager to begin potential trade with the rest of the alliance, importing a variety of consumer goods from its members, with president Shudargaünen "graciously" awaiting New Verham's entry into the Pact, stating that the country was "very much open for business".

If the country were to successfully gain entry into the Dovani Pact, foreign minister Chötgörkhaaral has already tapped a potential permanent representative to the organization, it being Jetei Ayangailtgegch. Mr. Ayangailtgegch has already stated a variety of potential proposals that New Verham would seek to bring forward to the organization's assembly upon membership, such as a resolution seeking to provide humanitarian aid and materiel to Lourenne's royalist forces in the ongoing civil war. "I share with my superior's great concern in the conflict going on in Lourenne," he stated on social media. "Our country has already provided essential aid and military logistics - it is time for the continent as a whole to come together and help those who are suffering."

Insider rumors have also persisted that officials within the foreign ministry would also seek to push for Lourenne's entry into the Dovani Pact. When pressed on the matter, a spokesman for the foreign ministry stated that "While it is a topic of healthy debate and discussion, the government believes in self-determination for all nations," they stated to SVMA. "While it would be highly advantageous for Lourenne to begin the process for membership within the Dovani Pact, as it would surely entitle them to future security guarantees and offer new trade opportunities, it is ultimately their choice to make. Our government seeks not to impose our will onto others, as that is not in line with our shared values of democracy and diplomatic respect."

Image
"The recent events in Lourenne, the conflict, have definitely drawn a red line," the foreign minister stated during a press conference on foreign policy this week. "We can have no longer any sort of foolishness with regards to continental security. Dovani needs to have some degree of interconnectivity and tight-knit diplomatic integration with its nations in order to truly promote peace throughout the region."

Breaking: Chief of the General Staff, Marshal Jegu Tengeranchin, dies at age 73
The now-former Chief of the General Staff and Marshal of the Republic, Jegu Tengeranchin, has died at the age of 73, after twenty years of dutiful service to the fatherland. The government, alongside President Shudargaünen, gave their sincerest condolences, and will be present at his state funeral next week.

BAATRYNSENTII - The nation's armed forces enters into a state of mourning today as the Chief of the General Staff, Jegu Tengeranchin, has died today at the age of 73. He leaves behind his wife, Ivonne Schönberger-Tengeranchin, his two sons and daughter, and four grandchildren. The Marshal of the Republic collapsed in his office this morning while receiving his daily brief and eating breakfast. He was discovered by his secretary, who immediately called for medical attention, but the now-former Chief of the General Staff was pronounced dead on arrival. The defense minister has already summoned an emergency meeting with the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, who has now temporarily superseded his former superior's duties. He announced his "profound shock" at the developments, and had to be escorted out of the room due to emotional distress, declining to answer questions from journalists. The news has been met with great sadness among the armed forces, who held the Marshal in high regard.

"He was very fit for his age," remarked Colonel-General Wilhelm von Pohl-Wischnewski, his Dundorfian interpreter and longtime friend. "Every day he would keep a rigorous exercise schedule, even combining military matters with his regimen if it sought to potentially interrupt them." The Colonel-General was also profusely shaken by the events, recalling that he had spoken to Marshal Tengeranchin just hours before. The decorated military officer held an impeccable record of twenty dedicated years of military service. Condolences were given from across the government on social media and elsewhere, including a brief video message from the president, giving his "sincerest condolences" to the Marshal's family, and expressed his "deepest sorrow" at his death. "Marshal Tengeranchin was a model soldier, and a caring administrator," the president stated in his video message. "He was the most honest acquaintance I have met in my recent time in office. I wish his family only the best in these difficult times."

After remarks from military officers and government officials, his body is expected to lie in state at the House of Parliament for the following two days. A state funeral is expected to be held at the end of the week, organized with full military honors and a gun salute. While yet to be independently verified, the defense minister is expected to tap Colonel-General Jambyn Tömörkhuslee for the position of Chief of the General Staff. An accomplished officer, Tömörkhuslee previously served among the military attaché sent to the New Verhamese embassy in Kalistan to assist the Lourennais government-in-exile. The general was crucial in overseeing the duties of the 9th Engineering and Logistics Division in helping sift potential survivors from the rubble in royalist-controlled areas, alongside coordinating supplies for the armies of the Kingdom.

If selected, his appointment would surely be controversial - the Colonel-General has described himself in prior interviews as a "committed nationalist" and a staunch conservative. He has occasionally voiced his displeasure for the government's policies on social media, taking particular aim at the Shudargaünen administration's privatization efforts and free market policies, calling them "haphazard".

"His death has devastated not just me, but the military as a whole," his former interpreter and friend, Colonel-General
Wilhelm von Pohl-Wischnewski stated to SVMA. "While I have full confidence in whoever will replace him, they certainly have some big shoes to fill."

Government, military trade blows over status of ongoing corruption investigation, claims the administration has "overstepped its reach"
The military under its new leadership has sought to immediately end the still-ongoing investigation into corruption among military officials, despite numerous arrests and potentially more on the horizon. The military has claimed it has already completed an "internal review" of its conduct and deemed no further actions necessary, and stated that the government had "overstepped its reach".

BAATRYNSENTII - After the death of former Chief of the General Staff and Marshal of the Republic, Jegu Tengeranchin, the ministry of defense tapped Colonel-General (now having received a promotion to Marshal) Jambyn Tömörkhüslee to fill his predecessor's office, confirming insider rumors and predictions. The accomplished military officer, having recently served in Kalistan as part of the New Verhamese military attaché to the Lourennais government-in-exile, has warmed quickly to his position, and has not taken long in trading blows with the Shudargaünen administration, leaving few surprised. Even prior to his appointment as the senior most military position in the country, Marshal Tömörkhüslee routinely criticized the government on social media, voicing his strong opposition to president Shudargaünen's free market reforms and privatization project, stating that such policies were "not in line with the national identity of the New Verhamese nation". He has also sought to controversially decline to remain an apolitical figure whilst in office, in contrast to his predecessor. In his confirmation ceremony, he described himself as a "committed nationalist", and staunch conservative.

Whilst coordinating the New Verhamese volunteer effort in the Lourennais civil war, Marshal Tömörkhüslee has sought immediately to end the still-ongoing corruption investigation into military officials and government ministers, calling it an "embarrassing" waste of government funds and stated that the military would police its own affairs. "The military knows its people and those who would signal disrespect or misconduct," the Marshal stated on social media. "We seek neither assistance from the current administration, nor their aggressive overreach into our affairs." This move to shut down the government's corruption investigation comes as the justice ministry reported that it had made "dozens" of arrests, and successfully convicted over ten individuals linked to charges of corruption and money laundering, in only a year's worth of investigation. The justice minister claimed that more would surely follow. Despite pushback from the Marshal, president Shudargaünen pressed on, and emphasized that the government would "root out corruption, no matter what it takes".

Oppositely, the Marshal offered the government an "internal review" conducted by himself and other senior military officials, combining his observations during his first month in office alongside previous months under the tenure of the late Marshal Tengeranchin, and deemed that no further investigation was necessary, and that the report was conducted with "absolute scrutiny and integrity expected from the armed forces". The government declined to accept his internal review, claiming that it would be "naturally biased" and unreliable, given the military's rocky history with liberal democracy in previous centuries. Mr. Tömörkhüslee expressed his disappointment, but stated that he was hardly surprised. "The government has an inclination to see that this investigation be carried through, at the cost of funds that could be utilized elsewhere," he stated in a televised press conference. "It is unnecessary, ridiculous and wasteful. For the president to do such a thing, this sets a dangerous precedent - the government has overstepped its boundaries."

With general elections slated for September, the government and military's blows with one another set to form a key aspect of the campaign. Voters have remained largely supportive of stronger anti-corruption measures, but the influence of the armed forces still remains significant. Were the president to back down, it would possibly diminish the government's chances at securing a major victory, possibly shrinking its majority within parliament and giving rise to a formal opposition - though voices that've been critical of the Shudargaünen administration have lacked adequate support to coalesce into a full-fledged opposition.

The new Chief of the General Staff, Marshal of the Republic Jambyn Tömörkhüslee, appointed by the defense ministry following his predecessor's death, has raised concerns among government officials for his sharp disapproval of the government's probe into military corruption. President Shudargaünen pressed on with his administration's investigation, and rejected the military's internal review, stating in an offhand comment that "If they have anything to hide, the justice ministry will find it."

United Liberal Party, president Shudargaünen win second term - vows "the work has only just begun"
The second general elections under ULP rule have concluded, bringing a second term for President
Shudargaünen and his party. However, the government now has a razor-thin majority in parliament,
losing some seats to independent candidates, running as more statist opposition to the current administration.

BAATRYNSENTII - With the final vote results coming in, according to the State Electoral Commission, the ULP and President Shudargaünen have won a second term in office, rounding out the September general elections with another three years of government for the ULP. In his first term in office, the president sought to enact a swift policy of privatization of key government services, foster the growth of private enterprise by way of free market reforms, and sought to aid Lourenne in its civil war and petition the Dovani Pact to welcome New Verham as a full member. Opposition to president Shudargaünen's administration was more pronounced in the recent elections - as evidenced by the government's now razor-thin majority in parliament, holding its control over the legislature by only five seats. Independent candidates, largely supportive of statist policies, gained a larger but not significant share of seats, forming the first major concrete opposition to the ULP government.

The government's controversial decision to continue its corruption investigation into military officials also caused friction among the armed forces, creating rising discontent among the army. Stonewalling by the armed forces' new Chief of the General Staff, Jambyn Tömörkhüslee, also dragged out the government's investigation longer than previously planned, causing lowered support among voters, who rallied around president Shudargaünen's pledge to increase government transparency and hold former officials accountable for their misconduct while in office. In the months leading up to the general elections, the government and army traded blows with each other, as president Shudargaünen refused to acknowledge an internal review conducted by Marshal Tömörkhüslee, that claimed to have found no wrongdoing or misconduct among military staff and officials. The new Chief of the General Staff, who succeeded Marshal Tengeranchin after his unfortunate passing, has presented himself as a "staunch nationalist" and "defender of the armed forces, and our nation's traditions".

Claiming that the government was engaging in "gross overreach" and conducting an "unnecessary, ridiculous, and wasteful" investigation, the Marshal has warned the government that it would be setting a dangerous precedent by continuing in its "fruitless endeavors". He once more reiterated during the president's post-election speeches that the army had "upheld its integrity" and had "dealt with potential corruption on its own", and reportedly was silent when asked to speak before a parliamentary committee on clarifying his office's internal review that it had conducted.

Despite internal opposition, the president stated in his post-election speech that "the work has only just begun" with regards to his party's platform. "In only three years, our government has achieved much, but the work has only just begun," he stated during his televised speech. "We have worked to apply to the Dovani Pact, fostered the growth of private enterprise after years of state-dominated economics, and kickstarted a trend of growth our economy has never seen before. But there is still so much to do, and we will get it done." The government is expected to continue with its liberalization of the economy, reportedly setting its sights on bolstering the development of private oil and natural gas companies via offering exploration rights for potential offshore oil deposits on the shores of the Caltropic Lakes.

Image
President Shudargaünen, now in his second term, raises his fists in a rallying speech to voters during the campaign trail. While initial spirits were high, the party now has a razor-thin majority in parliament, and now faces rising discontent among the military in the wake of the fallout of the government's corruption investigation, and the armed forces' subsequent stonewalling under its new Chief of the General Staff, Jambyn Tömörkhüslee.

Government to sponsor growth of light and heavy industry, private business sees flourish
Through a slew of targeted subsidies and other incentives, the government has sought to boost the combined growth of light and heavy industry nationwide, diversifying the previously agrarian economy and creating stable GDP growth, while bringing thousands of jobs.

BAATRYNSENTII - The government has announced its plans today to unveil a series of targeted subsidies towards the light and heavy industrial sector, encouraging the growth of private businesses and to kickstart a rush of new jobs. New Verham's economy has traditionally remained largely agrarian, dominated primarily by subsistence farming. Since the government's similar subsidies aimed at the agricultural sector to increase exports of inexpensive crops, the agricultural sector has steadily grown again, breathing new life into a once-stagnant industry. Fields targeted by the subsidies include the chemical, petroleum, crude oil, mining, and electronics. "At the forefront it has been our goal to bring economic diversification to New Verham," a spokesperson for the ministry of finance stated. "These subsidies will encourage budding companies to get their foot in the door and kickstart their operations and remain competitive, as well as offer inexpensive products and materials."

President Shudargaünen's move to offer exploration rights to private oil and natural gas companies has also bore fruit, with numerous companies offering to take bids for sections within New Verham's exclusive economic zone. In a surprising move, the government has also sought to establish its own state-run oil and natural gas manufacturer. Named PetroVerham, it has already begun exploratory measures on the country's eastern shore, as well as beginning to seek out potential trade partners for the purchasing of discounted crude oil to refine on New Verhamese soil, and subsequently export to neighboring nations. However, economic advisors as well as geologists have noted that the Caltropic Lakes have yet fielded any reserves of crude oil underneath the seabed, leading to warnings that both the government and private companies would potentially seek to waste money in the endeavor. "As of right now there haven't been any real indicators of crude oil beneath the seabed," one oceanographer commented. "The government is essentially taking a gamble here."

Other industries given a starting boost by the government include the steel industry. Bürged Gan (Eagle Steel), a growing private steel manufacturer and importer, has petitioned the government to award it subsidies in order to provide for competitiveness in the market, which would lower costs and increase the business's profits. The move was also encouraged by Bürged Gan due to the large reliance on steel, and its use in countless sectors. "By granting these subsidies and other measures, the government can easily foster the growth of even more businesses," a spokesperson for the company stated. "The possibilities are numerous - and their benefits enormous."

The mining industry, a traditionally underdeveloped sector of the New Verhamese economy, also received attention in the government's package of subsidies. The government has acquired a Vanukean-based mining corporation, operating in the historically Vanukean-speaking south, known as Stroeck Mijnbouw Bedrijf (Stroeck Mining Corporation), and has worked to expand its operations along the easternmost edges of the Huotet Plateau's southern ranges, tapping the earth for bauxite, copper, and tin deposits. Whilst further surveys are underway, the newly-acquired state-run corporation seeks to allow other private businesses flourish within the industry by providing healthy competition.

Nation joins Dovani Pact in major foreign policy coup for Shudargaünen administration
With no nay votes, nor abstentions, New Verham has officially been entered as a full member into the Dovani Pact, in a major foreign policy coup for the Shudargaünen administration. Foreign minister Chötgörkhaaral vowed the country would "fully commit" itself to meeting its obligations as a full member, and is set to visit various member states to sign comprehensive free trade agreements.

BAATRYNSENTII - After the final vote had been called just a shore's length away in neighboring Liore, the act is official - New Verham shall enter into the Dovani Pact as a full member, netting the Shudargaünen administration a major foreign policy coup after a rocky few months politically. Recently, the government has traded anxious blows with the military over the status of the government's ongoing corruption administration, which now trails into its second year. The investigation, which was originally launched as a probe into cabinet-level agencies and former ministers, gradually expanded its scope to also seek out military staff and officials, which was initially supported (if albeit neutrally) by former Chief of the General Staff Tengeranchin, but saw a sharp pushback from the late Marshal's newly-appointed successor, Jambyn Tömörkhüslee. Friction has only seemed to grow as the government indicated it would continue as planned, citing the remarkable arrest of over ten officials, some of them former high-ranking military staff, in the ongoing investigation.

For now, it seems the nation can revel in its major diplomatic milestone. The Dovani Pact, which serves as an economic, political and military alliance, has been a key foreign policy aspect of the new administration, and with New Verham's full membership into the organization, the nation can now take full advantage of the now-abolished trade barriers with some of the continent's most significant economies, such as Ostland, Vascania, and Liore. There was initial controversy among right-libertarian elements within the ULP over fears that due to Liore's status as a socialist nation, and the leftist-tinged rhetoric of its founding document, that the organization would seek to shift the country to the left - but such fears have all but dissipated. "We thank our neighbors across the shore in Liore for helping grant our request - and indeed all nations of the Dovani Pact for welcoming us into the organization," foreign minister Chötgörkhaaral stated to SVMA. "This is an undoubtedly historic resolution - one that brings not just our nation closer to key allies, but a step towards uniting the continent as a whole."

The government has stated that it will seek to fulfill its obligations as a full member of the organization, as outlined in its founding document, "as soon as possible", with foreign minister Chötgörkhaaral seeking to promulgate a variety of comprehensive free trade agreements among member states of the organization. "The task starts now to fully commit ourselves to the Dovani Pact", he stated to SVMA. "There is hardly any time to waste - our nation will be stronger with the dissolution of these trade barriers, and mutually so for our newly-welcomed acquaintances." As such, the foreign minister is expected to make a "walking tour" of central and south Dovani over the rest of the year, to hash out free trade treaties with neighboring Ostland, Liore, and Vascania. New Alduria would also be another focus of the foreign minister's journey, in a bid to renew and strengthen diplomatic ties, as it is also a member of the DP.

Many doors have been opened by New Verham's membership into the DP, but the most significant remains economic - de facto free trade with all eight members of the DP, connecting New Verham to the economies of Ostland, Liore, and the "titanic" economy of Vascania, has elated investors and private businesses. "The government has made a shrewd foreign policy move," stated Pieter van Zoriggüikhaigch, the current president and CEO of New Verham Rail, the nation's largest private railway corporation stated in an interview. "The trade benefits from this alliance are enormous, and the potential tourism revenue from visa-free travel is staggering. Our nation's economy can only seek to grow from this moment forward." A host of budding private corporations have already announced their intentions to do businesses with DP members, with the recently-formed state-run PetroVerham corporation also stepping up to the plate to offer to buy in crude oil at a discounted price, refine it, and sell it to member states at competitve rates.

Landing in Wolfsheim, the foreign minister took in the local sights and ate at esteemed traditional Dundorfian restaurants in the historical capitol. He is set to meet with the Grand Duke in an official ceremony, as well as discuss free trade agreements with the State Minister and his Ostlander counterpart, before rounding out his visit with an address to the Eastern Land Council.

WOLFSHEIM - Seeking to commit to its foreign policy obligations within the Dovani Pact, the foreign minister has set out on a diplomatic tour of the three most significant constituent nations of the alliance - them being Ostland, Liore, and Vascania. Mr. Chötgörkhaaral has set his sights on neighboring Ostland, taking a diplomatic motorcade to the nation's southern border. Spending the initial part of the trip towards the capital of Wolfsheim visiting local sites and historic monuments, he arrived in the capital city in the early morning, and dined for breakfast at traditional Dundorfian restaurants at the heart of the city. He was welcomed by a diplomatic delegation shortly upon arriving to the Palace of the Grand Duke. The foreign minister also brought a small diplomatic contingent alongside him, mostly ethnic Ostlanders living in the north of New Verham, to serve partially as translators and to warm relations on the basis of "a shared cultural heritage between nations".

By the late morning, Mr. Chötgörkhaaral attended a ceremony within the Palace, in the presence of the Grand Duke and other officials, observing the changing of the Palace Guard and overseeing a joint inspection of the Armed Forces. Shortly thereafter, he departed by the afternoon for talks with the State Minister Matteo Aigner to discuss a variety of topics - most notably security concerns over the neighboring Lourennais civil war, an issue which the foreign minister has wished for greater continental reaction from, cursory diplomacy, and most significantly, the possibility of negotiating a comprehensive free trade agreement with Ostland. Under the recent economic reforms and liberalization policies of the Shudargaünen administration, the nation has sought both to bolster its own economy as well as increasing its trade volume; both regionally and internationally. Previously, the foreign minister signaled a willingness to negotiate tariff-free trade on crop, meat and dairy exports from New Verham into neighboring Ostland, at cheap, competitive rates - alongside offering to purchase modern agricultural equipment in the form of vehicles and other heavy machinery, but the offer went largely unanswered.

Seeking to change that by formally organizing a state visit, the foreign minister will once again discuss the matter of agriculture, alongside attempting to secure more imports from Ostland, namely in the industrial sector, alongside consumer goods. "The end goal here is, ultimately, the total removal of trade barriers between New Verham and Ostland," foreign minister Chötgörkhaaral stated during a press conference in Wolfsheim. "Our government seeks nothing but mutual economic benefit between our two countries and a deepening of ties. I remain confident in these upcoming talks with Herr Aigner, and have been wondrously welcomed with great hospitality from the people of Ostland." The talks are set to last from this afternoon into potentially the early evening - were they to extend that long, the foreign minister has expressed his intentions for staying an additional day to keep to his previously scheduled itinerary, which would have him round out his visit to New Verham's northern neighbor with an address to the Eastern Land Council, or Ostlandrat.

Upon concluding his visit in Ostland, Mr. Chötgörkhaaral will depart the nation for neighboring Liore, to largely conduct the same affairs, though he has stated his intentions to bring up the matter of the Lourennais civil war to Liorian officials - with the permanent representative to the Dovani Pact, Jetei Ayangailtgegch sharing such desires, though either have yet to push for a formal resolution to be brought to the Assembly.

Rapid rise of nation's steel industry sees birth of domestic automotive industry
With the strong growth of the country's domestic steel industry over the past year thanks to the expansion of companies such as Bürged Gan, a domestic automotive industry has begun to flourish in New Verham, with recent companies such as the Azarga Motors Group and Naidvartai Auto Ltd. forming out of venture capital bids, are set to become fierce competitors and steadily expand on the domestic market.

BAATRYNSENTII - Seeking to swell the growth of domestic private industry, venture capitalists have thrown their support behind two burgeoning automotive companies, them being the Azarga Motors Group and Naidvartai Auto Ltd., with the recent expansion of the country's steel industry through Bürged Gan providing the resources to do so. Both manufacturers have wasted little time in acquiring resources and purchasing factories, with Naidvartai Auto Ltd., translating as Reliable Auto Ltd., forecasting that their first model of vehicle will debut in three years - before the Azarga Motors Group quickly boasted to the Baatrynsentii Economic Reporter that their first model would be designed and manufactured in as little as two, spurring the first competition between the two companies.

Economists and protectionists alike have welcomed the move, remarking that it would not only seek to provide domestic competition in New Verham's traditionally foreign-dominated automobile market, but to expand beyond the borders of the Republic - with Naidvartai Auto advertising exactly such, stating that it wished to provide reliable vehicles for both the domestic and export markets, though it expressed a more keen interest in the latter.

While neither have released any designs at the current moment for their first models, the companies are already "hard at work" at securing further investment and resources to initiate a smooth expansion. Their presence has not gone without notice - their strong entrance to the scene was marked by commendations from economists and the President himself, remarking that the continued success of the government's policies in regard to market liberalization and modest deregulation to grow the economy were ushering in a "wondrous new age" for the private sector in New Verham. "There truly is a wondrous new age being ushered in this country," the president stated on social media. "Private business has grown like never before, and the ingenuity of these companies seeks to inspire all of us to push to go further."

Initial car models planned for both companies were kept very much under wraps, stating that they were in the "early stages of development", but each did state that both companies were aiming for an affordable, easily-maintainable four-door sedan concept, with further models planned for the future in an "expansive" catalog of cars.

Defense ministry moves to sack Marshal Tömörkhüslee from post as Chief of the General Staff, sowing a rift in armed forces
Reluctantly accepting his forced removal, spurned on the grounds of obstructing the government's corruption investigation and the withholding of key evidence, the Marshal was initially set to be trialed by the justice ministry, but this has been so far been put on pause, citing the intense friction the Marshal's dismissal has immediately caused within the armed forces.

BAATRYNSENTII - Having been recalled from his post in assisting the royalist Lourennais government-in-exile in Kalistan, the now-former Chief of the General Staff, Jambyn Tömörkhüslee has been formally sacked from his position by the defense ministry, citing the Marshal's actions in regards to the government's corruption investigation representing a gross misuse of his office, alleging that Mr. Tömörkhüslee obstructed justice and withheld vital information and key evidence on persons of interest in the still-ongoing investigation. Almost immediately, this has caused considerable friction within the armed forces on the matter - with some quietly commending the government's decision, and others loudly denouncing it, stating that the Marshal is a "loyal patriot" and that the government was out of line, with some more extreme voices on the matter claiming that the government was engaging in "treasonous behavior".

Seemingly leaning into this side on social media, the Marshal also strongly condemned the government's decision, despite stepping down willfully - though Mr. Tömörkhüslee claimed he had "no choice" in the matter. In a hastily arranged press conference, the Marshal rambled at length about the government's decision, stating that it had "crossed a red line", and that the armed forces' response was only natural, boasting that "only true patriots know who to rally behind, unlike our so-called 'democratic' government". These tensions between the administration and its Chief of the General Staff, which have simmered for months, have now seemed to finally reach a head. With the armed forces quickly becoming sharply divided on the matter, the Marshal has sought to utilize this to act in defiance, in an apparent attempt to garner even further support to his position.

"I refuse to cooperate with the justice ministry," he bolded stated during his prior press conference. "This government has consistently acted against the character of the New Verhamese nation. These wild reforms have run roughshod through our country, upending nearly all our traditions. Such gross insolence must stop - and the armed forces share such sentiments." Such comments have stunned officials within the administration, signaling a strong contempt for the current government unlike anything seen prior. President Shudargaünen fired back at the Marshal's comments, remarking that the disgraced Chief of the General Staff's bold actions against the rule of law showcased the archaic mindset of the military - and its quickly fading grip on power. "These are the words of a man who knows he cannot get away with ironfisted rule," he stated on social media. "While these comments are shocking and absolutely deserving of a trial, one can hardly be surprised that this is disappointingly still a part of our country."

Nevertheless, the president sought to reassure anxious members of his administration, stating that the general would be formally tried with due process over his conduct during the government's corruption administration once initial hurdles among the armed forces were smoothed over. To this degree, he sought to arrange a meeting with the defense ministry over a potential replacement as "soon as possible". Details were scant as to who would be tapped for a potential successor, but a spokesperson for the government stated it was "seeking all avenues" to appoint a new Chief who would act with neutrality uphold the rule of law. "It is clear that this must not happen again," the official stated. "The armed forces must, clearly, be led by someone who respects the rule of law, and vows to a strict stance of neutrality - politicization and bias within the armed forces stands currently as the most dangerous legacy of prior governments. And we must take all routes to ensure it remains in the past."

After serving in his post for only a mere two years, the current Chief of the General Staff, Jambyn Tömörkhüslee, has been sacked from his position, and is set to be tried by the justice ministry, but the recent upheaval from within the armed forces has set such plans on pause for the present. For now, the post remains vacant, with a replacement to be confirmed by the ministry of defense in the coming days.
