Terrorist Plot Foiled
4 December 4439
Image

Authorities in Tian’an and Kaizhou have thwarted a major terrorist plot aimed at numerous locations in Zhijia City, as well as the Ministry of Trade & Commerce in the national capital. Provided with substantial evidence from a man going by the name of Tsoi Jiyong, the Sampa Society was uncovered in this plot to eliminate members of the Lü Clan and others closely associated with the family. Additionally, information provided by Tsoi confirmed Sampa responsibility for the attack on the Green Palace. Currently Tsoi is in police custody as he continues to be questioned for his knowledge of these anti-Lü plots.

Tsoi, also revealed as the caller that warned of the Jugang attack, has brought even further intrigue to these attempts to assassinate members of the Lü Clan. Although currently unconfirmed to the public by police, Tsoi, a citizen of Dalibor, claims to be one of two sons of the controversial Ryeo Hajun. Tsoi states that he and his brother, having been only five at the time of their father’s death, had been taken in by the Sampa Society and raised by the organization to eventually lay claim to the House of Ryeo and to lead in the cult’s vision for Ryeo dominance. Under the Tsoi alias, Tsoi was targeted for Indrala, gaining admission to Haejo Imperial College in 4439. His brother, whose name remains unknown, is believed to be in Dalibor with Sampa leadership on the island.

Not fully understanding the entire cause behind the Sampa Society leadership, Tsoi held a positive view of the organization prior to his arrival in Indrala. Despite early suspicions among the public regarding Sampa’s involvement in the death of Lü Minho, Tsoi uphold his loyalty to his adopted family, viewing such suspicions as baseless conspiracy and a misunderstanding of the “noble vision” of the Sampa Society. Indeed, as far as Tsoi had been made aware in his indoctrinated childhood, Sampa was a noble organization.

Few details have been provided but it is believed that at least a dozen members of the Sampa Society have been arrested as a result of this plot.

--

A Daliborian international student attending university in Jugang, Tsoi Jiyong has found national attention for his role in preventing the 2 December terrorist plot and, as we now know, his responsibility for warning of the Green Palace attack. Although raised by the Sampa Society cult, being prepped as a future leader for their radical cause, Tsoi turned against his “family” in favor of stopping mass violence. In the weeks since the foiled plot, more details have emerged about Tsoi, his life in Indrala, and the events that led to his rejection of Sampa.

After beginning his program at Haejo Imperial College, a strange fate brought Tsoi into contact with another international student, Sun Yumi of Sekowo. This would prove a significant contributor to the turning point for Tsoi and his worldview as he found himself in love with the daughter of the patriarch of the Ryeo’s ancient allies, the Sun Family of Dankuk. The Sun-Ryeo alliance which forged the Kyo Defense Force, that led a nation, and that shared in nobility, once again found itself back into relevancy, millenia later. Whether actual fate or just an accident, Sun and Tsoi found themselves in each other’s company without even an initial realization of their ancient connections.

Tsoi’s direct connections to the Sampa Society were not something he shared but through his relationship, Tsoi found one person who he opened up to with this secret. For Sun, that reveal of having such close connections with this cult, invoked a suspicion in Sun that her boyfriend was much more than a Kyo-Daliborian orphan. Pressing Tsoi on these thoughts, Sun was able to learn the deeper secret: Tsoi’s identity as the supposed son of Ryeo Hajun. Sun closely held on to this secret with Tsoi and took on a personal objective of breaking down Tsoi’s indoctrination. Aware of her family’s ancient alliance with the Ryeo, Sun dug into her own history as she sought to deconstruct the Sampa propaganda that had been rooted into Tsoi. Combined with her genuine personal connection with Tsoi, Sun saw Tsoi breaking from the cult’s grasp and embracing his own freedom in Indrala. It became clear to Tsoi that his noble organization was a cult with his very self at the center as an intended god-emperor of the future.

The Sampa Society has been quick to disown its association with Jiyong, branding him as having succumb to Lü manipulation and propaganda of the liberal Indralan state. However, this initial statement was revoked and then replaced by a claim that Jiyong is a fraud, bearing no relationship to the Ryeo family. With his brother having failed his duty in Indrala, Jiwoo is likely at the center of the cult’s agenda for perfecting its god-emperor. However, Jiyong has not been forgotten and surely he has taken priority at the top of the hit list for Sampa’s continued goal of eliminating the traitors of the apparent Ryeo legacy. It is safe to say though, that Sampa's failed attack and the arrest of numerous members may lead to their demise before they ever manage to pull together another major plot on Indralan soil.

Lü Jaewoo Passes Away at Age of 98
8 September 4440
Image

Peacefully at the age of 98, Lü Jaewoo has passed away with family members at his side. A beloved member of the Lü Clan, Jaewoo enjoyed national popularity akin to that of his father, Yejun. Jaewoo was a long-time leader of New Dawn and in his time as the leader of the State of Indrala, he spearheaded a major digital democracy initiative and established the OurYingdala Portal. Lü presided over a period of stability and economic growth, despite the enormous family drama that plagued the Lüs during the earliest months of his tenure. At least two new higher education institutions were founded and the major caizu continued to battle each other for an edge in development and innovation.

The former Chief Minister is survived by his daughter, Lü Yeongja and her son, Xia Jaeho; a niece, daughter of his sister Hyesu; and cousins, Lü Ae-cha and Luk Runmei.

Leslie Cheung Aims for Chief Ministry
19 September 4440
Image

As Chief Minister Chen Zemin's Social Democratic Party drops to fourth among national parties, New Dawn's Leslie Cheung has quickly moved to replace her coalition ally in leadership of the nation. Cheung's leadership of New Dawn has created a new rivalry with the SDP, as the two fight for the leftist vote, even as they uphold their historic political alliance. Meanwhile, the recently founded Leftist Alliance, the true threat to the ruling coalition's appeal to leftist voters, appears set to become the sole opposition as the Taoist Party inches closer to disintegration.

If Cheung is successful in the Chief Ministry it will mark a major turning point for New Dawn, which has previously had a leadership dominated by those associated with nobility and/or caizu. Cheung, taking a strong stance against each as she pushes to re-embrace New Dawn's platform of science and progress, would become the first successful New Dawn leader in its post-Lü era. Nonetheless, she faces many critics among conservative party members, noble supporters, and traditionalists. Some attacks against Cheung have branded her a socialist and an anti-capitalist; she has denied both, declaring that she is guided by science and pragmatism not ideology.

Additional Headlines:

Lü Clan Extinct?

In noble affairs, the death of Lü Jaewoo has created an awkward situation for the Lü Clan, which may not possess a suitable male heir to carry on with the clan's titles. With the appearance of Tsoi Jiyong, it is considered possible that he is eligible to inherit Lü titles as he falls within a direct male descent. Tsoi, already possessing the strongest claim to the House of Ryeo, has deliberately avoided the spotlight and could not be reached relating to these matters. Regardless of the outcome of this noble drama, the Green Palace of Jugang and the wealth of the Lü Clan has passed to Lü Yeongja and her son, who have also avoided this affair.

Sun Yumi & Ryeo Jiyong Leave Haejo Imperial College

Having not returned to Haejo Imperial College since the events of last fall, it is now known that Sun Yumi and Ryeo Jiyong have withdrawn from Haejo Imperial College. The couple have apparently relocated to another institution in an attempt to avoid the media as they continue through their post-secondary education.

Protestors march in Tian'an against Vanuku, Ishida return in Sekowo
28 October, 4440

Tian'an, Han Province: Thousands of people have joined together to march in Tian'an against the "rising tide" of the "pro-Dranian Coalition." Organizers say the march was meant to remind "His Imperial Majesty's government" that Indrala must remain wary of those it has deemed allies.

Protestors claim that Vanuku has betrayed Indrala after that country held talks with Dankuk, a nation which has attacked Indrala multiple times throughout the century. Vanukean media reports have suggested that in addition to economic agreements and aid, Wiel plans to supply military arms and other logistical support to the Dranian regime.

Modern relations between Tian'an and Wiel have very much been tied to Vanuku's relationship with Dankuk. In 4385, Vanuku formally ended ties with the regime in Dankuk over their attempt to create a military alliance aimed at destroying Indrala and Kazulia. Following this announcement, the Emperor and the King of Vanuku exchanged many gifts, hinting at a possible resurrection of the historic brotherhood between the two nations. The news from Vanuku seems to have cooled much interest in this relationship, however.

"The actions of the Kingdom of Vanuku are deeply disappointing, of course," said Foreign Minister Yuri Yokomichi in response to the protests, "it is certainly understandable that many Indralans may feel outraged at the about face from the Vanukeans."

The news has galvanized Indrala's sizeable and influential Kyo minority, of which nearly all descend from Dranian political refugees. The great-grandmother of the Emperor himself was Princess Kyunghee of Dankuk, one of the millions of refugees that fled the violent rise of the modern dictatorship.

"I thought they were our friends," said second-generation refugee Park Jinyoung, "but we see that obviously Indrala means nothing to Vanuku if it means they can sabre-rattle with Kazulia; that's what it's all about anyway!"

While most protestors carried anti-Vanukean signage, multiple signs decrying the return of the Ishida Clan in Sekowo were also seen. According to protestors, news from Dankuk suggests that the Ishida Clan and the Dranian ruling family have shared close ties over the years which culminated in the marriage of Lord Ishida Kenjiro and Hwangje Tamhee.

"Indrala has attempted, for many years, to establish a stronger relationship with Sekowo," said Foreign Minister Yuri Yokomichi, "we hope that the reemergent Ishida Clan will put forward the politics of peace, prosperity and fraternity between our two nations."

Lotus Party Leader Shi campaigns across Jiaozhi
28 January, 4440 (OOC: Postdated)

Jiaozhi Province: Beginning her week by paying respect at the Mausoleum of the Tianshun Emperor, Lotus Party Leader Shi Yiguang has been zig-zagging the rural hamlets and villages of Jiaozhi Province in an effort to "regain the trust" of voters there.

In speaking with Indralans across the province, Shi says that the Lotus Party would focus on raising corporate and luxury sales taxes, rebuilding the Armed Forces and fostering greater social cohesion. Specifically, Shi took aim at her coalition colleagues for their support of ND-023, a bill which officially made Indrala a secular country, and a bill which passed narrowly with a margin of 6 votes in the Grand Assembly.

"When we talk about fostering social cohesion in our country, we talk about instilling a sense of community, patriotism and cultural tradition in our young people," Shi said while speaking to a group of elderly constituents. "It's certainly regrettable that Social Democratic and New Dawn Assemblymen chose to deny the important role our state religion, led by the Son of Heaven, plays in uniting this nation. With your support this policy will be reversed, and it shall be reversed quickly."

Shi is expected to continue her campaign across Jiaozhi for the next two weeks before expanding the campaign nationwide.

Chen Zemin, SDP, sees worst electoral performance in over a decade

Chen walks away from SDP headquarters after news of the major defeat

TIAN'AN, Han: After what has been a long series of seemingly annual snap elections for Indrala's National Assembly, many of which have seen victory for the Social Democrats, the party has finally met quite the downfall. This election saw the SDP fall into becoming only the fourth largest party in Indrala, where previously it had held the largest number of seats among its coalition members. The collapse of the party was astounding, a 54 seat drop from the before held 125 seats to 71.

A clearly dissapointing result for what is usually Indrala's leading left-wing party, it is believed that much of this has to do with the rising leftist branch of SDP coalition ally, New Dawn, which elected Leslie Cheung as its leader. The newly left turned New Dawn has grown in size, a blow to the SDP, who had been minorly feuding with New Dawn.

It is also expected that party will push to kick out its current Party Leader Chen Zemin, who has served as Chief Minister for two election cycles. However, many political scientists and advisors predict that the Taoist Party will soon fall apart, giving Chen a possible second chance at redeeming the SDP.

Foundation of the Communist Party of Indrala
With Socialism on the rise, a new Party has been formed to drive Indrala to the Left

Founding Congress of the Communist Party of Indrala

TIAN'AN, Han:With politics within Indrala taking a sharp left turn after decades of neoliberal expansion, The word Socialism appears on the breath of many throughout the country. With New Dawn relinquishing its ties to the right, and the leftist alliance now the third largest party, Indrala is ripe for a move towards a progressive and radical government in which national and social aims are entwined with state planning and investment.

This new zeitgeist has led to the foundation of the Indralan Communist Party, a party to represent socialist and progressive values and to analyse society through the lens of Metzism-Leonidism-Ruanism. It's leader, Li Chun, a life long activist and trade unionist, stated at the founding congress of the party that;

Indrala has reached a stage of human development which our ancestors could only dream of; we have become one of the leading superpowers on Terra, through the collective hardwork of our nation and people. There has never been a day like today so apt for change, Indrala has never been so prepared to take the leap forward towards a new Socialist tomorrow. It is time for this great wealth that our country has produced to be placed in the hands of the people and used for the betterment of the whole of society. We, as the vanguard of such a change, must serve the people and direct them towards this aim. Ruan, founder of our nation, did not live to see this moment. Let us ensure that his vision is finally fulfilled.

The party's founding has received mixed support from the Indralan left, with many concerned it could split the left vote and enable the Lotus party to break through the present socialist bloc. However, Li Chun has declared that the party is more than happy to join Coalitions with other left parties to ensure the move towards a more leftist agenda.

Li Chun Waves To Crowds During Victory Speech

TIAN'AN, Han: In a historic victory for the left in Indrala, the Communist Party has become the largest party in Indrala securing 322 seats and just under 3 quarters of the Vote. This shift marks a move towards socialism within the mindset of the people of the nation.
Li Chun is now seeking to form a leftist government with the third largest party, the Leftist Alliance, in order to, "change Indrala for the better." It appears he seeks to reverse many of the neo-liberal policies of past Indralan governments. He also announced the renaming of the party to New Progress in order to mark the victory and the parties progressive vision for Indrala's future.
In a victory speech at the party HQ, Li Chun said;
The people of Indrala have spoken this day; they have shown they want a progressive vision for Indrala, one inwhich the interests of the people and nation are put above the interests of the privileged classes and their profits. I hope that this election shall be a turning point in Indrala's history, one which will resonate forever as the defining moment of a new age of prosperity and development.

The second largest party, the Social Democrats, have already fallen in opposition to Chun's New Progress, and are currently seeking to form an alternative coalition of all other parties in the Assembly. However, whether they will be successful is still to be seen.

Lotus Party Leader Shi Yiguang struck while campaigning in Shu Province

Shi photographed at Nandu Central Hospital after receiving aid from paramedics.

NANDU, Shu: A young man has been charged with assaulting a representative of the Grand Assembly after throwing a rock at Lotus Party Leader Shi Yiguang while she was campaigning in Nandu, Shu Province.

Shi was speaking to a gathered crowd from the flatbed of a truck when the alleged assailant started to shout, disrupting the rally. Before security personnel or bystanders could recognize where exactly the disturbance was coming from, the man picked up a rock and threw it as Shi, striking her just above her left eyebrow. Shi stumbled for a moment before falling back into the truck. Aids and bodyguards rushed onto the truck and swiftly drove from the scene while Lotus Party supporters tackled the man to the ground as police officials placed him under custody.

Eyewitness accounts have claimed that the man was wearing an Army uniform at the time, though these reports remain unconfirmed. While refusing to identify the man at this time, the Supreme Prosecution Service has said that the assault was politically motivated. "Assaulting a representative of Grand Assembly is an offence we take very seriously," said Chen Xiaoxi, spokesperson for the SPS. "Those who choose to commit such an act will be held accountable and shall be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Lotus Party National Spokeswoman Meng Yiran released a statement following the events, saying that the Lotus Party Leader received no serious injuries and "is prepared to continue fighting for the kitchen-table concerns of ordinary Indralans." Meng stated that "violence and intimidation will not deter our Leader or our movement ahead of the 4450 General Election."

Indralan Billionaire Launches Nationalist Party
1 September 4449

Image
Zhou Wai-fung, billionaire executive and property investor turned politician

Tian'an, HAN: Zhou Wai-fung, a leading executive of Lim Son Ah Properties, has stepped down from his business role to form the Patriotic Society, a new political party aimed at countering the monopolization of power by leftist Chief Minister Chen Zemin and his allies within the Lotus Party. Bolstering his new party with his own personal wealth, Zhou’s Patriotic Society paints a vision for a re-militarized and interventionist Indrala, characterized by a fierce national spirit and an unquestioning loyalty to the Dragon Throne. As the party prepares to take part in its first election, emphasis has focused on two key points: (1) modernization of the armed forces, including increased funding and expanded support for advanced research, and (2) cultivation of a singular patriotic identity that transcends ethnicity and religion, centered around the national unity drawn from the monarchy.

The Patriotic Society is being led by a cadre of associates aligned with Zhou, practicing near absolute control of the organization’s national operations, including its campaign for next year’s parliamentary elections. However, the party is also formally organized into four regional conferences covering the entirety of the Indrala. These conferences ultimately report to Zhou but do exercise relative autonomy in advancing the party’s mission within their jurisdiction. As far as conference influence goes in relation to Zhou’s leadership, preference is given to those conferences that are most successful in achieving results for Zhou. Beyond the regional conferences, the party has also informally aligned with other organizations that having formed to support the Patriotic Society. Most notably this includes the Indralan Patriotic Youth, which seeks to bolster the nationalistic ideals of the younger generations. Specifically it has targeted university campuses to spread its message. The other notable aligned group has called itself The Dragon Guardians. Composed mostly of military veterans and staunch monarchists, the Dragon Guardians assert an unwavering loyalty to the Crown and stand to protect the Emperor against all opponents, foreign and domestic. Other smaller groups have also aligned with the Patriotic Society but this overall structure of informal alliances is fractured and quite decentralized.

As Zhou moves forward in his leadership of a national political party, numerous concerns have emerged of continued business interests intermingling between Zhou, the Patriotic Society, and his former company. Additionally, Zhou’s finances beyond just Lim Son Ah are convoluted and he has been accused of holding secret accounts, avoiding taxation and transparency in his business activities. These have not been the only issues to raise eyebrows as many have also expressed worries about the implications of the nationalist rhetoric of the party and its authoritarian stances on the role of government.

SDP Leader speaks to local residents in Jugang
Chen denounces Lotus-Patriotic "alliance"

Chen speaking with supporters in Jugang

JUGANG, Jiaozhi Province: After a contentious election season, which saw the SDP retain the largest seat share, Chen Zemin headed out to Jiaozhi, heavily campaigned in, yet lost, by the Lotus Party, to speak to supporters.

Chen expressed his joy with the support he had received in the election, especially in Jiaozhi.

However, the trip wasn't all smiles and laughs, as Chen got to business discussing the implications of the unofficial alliance between the Lotus Party and Patriotic Society with residents.

The SDP leader tried to appeal to two major demographics while in the area, workers and minorities. He warned that such an alliance would lead to a stripping of labour regulations and union protections that could affect many in the area. Chen also, touched on both party's histories of civil rights limitations.

"What I see here is a dangerous combination," said Chen, "one that we must band together more then ever to fight."

One group in Jugang that should particularly be worried about the Lotus Party's new partner, are the many Kyo immigrants in the area, as the Patriotic Society has seemed to call for a crackdown on immigration to the country, a stance that could later lead to restrictions on immigrant populations within Indrala.
