Jienists Call for Focus on National Security

Image
Yan He discusses Indralan history with Shu Province villagers

Facing an increasingly turbulent and dangerous region, Indrala has, over the past century, declined as a global power. While its economic power has recovered and serves as a prominent example to every nation in Terra, Indrala has yet to transform its healthy economy into a defense force befitting its station - and its past.

It comes as no surprise that the Jienist Party has been the most vocal of the new organizations to shift greater attention to the affairs of national defense and international politics. After all, the Jienists led Indrala for centuries, establishing it as a great power and preeminent nation in the eastern hemisphere. Not to mention, the Jienist international achievements included ending Terran colonialism, among other humanitarian accomplishments.

Jienist Party chairman Yan He has been vociferous in calling for the state to place greater emphasis on national security matters in his series of visits to towns and villages throughout the nation.

Indrala is the prime nation of Terra. Not only in terms of our civilization, but also our economy. We seem to have forgotten our past - the fact that we led Dovani and Seleya - and have opted to remain to ourselves. This mode of thinking is dangerous. We can still uphold peace and respect others while having a robust defense. The war currently going on in Dovani is a disgrace and could very well threaten the lives of the people simply through spillover. It is an utter shame that the state has failed to restore Indralan power. This is a core principle of Jienist governance.

Already, the Jienists have issued a position to the Grand Assembly, asking them to consider weapons of mass destruction reform. In addition, inter-party committees have begun discussing defense spending issues, seeming to consider four percent as the ideal defense spending to GDP ratio. Such a percentage would be a stark increase to the current defense budget, likely leading to opposition from other Indralan parties.

Expect the Jienists to attempt to fully awaken the sleeping dragon that is our homeland.

Wu Clan Heir Commissioned as Army Armored Cavalry Officer

Going back to the family's roots, the Wu Clan heir, Wu Pingan, has officially been commissioned as a junior officer in the Imperial Army's armored cavalry. After moving back to Shu Province, the Wu Clan has begun to revive their martial family traditions that stretch all the way back to the rule of Yu Clan, when the Wu Family branch was established to lead Indrala's armies - hence the family name Wu, or "Martial."

Why Wu Pingan chose to join the army, as opposed to the navy, is not yet known. It is likely that, due to the ancient role the nobility played in fighting on chariots, the army made the most sense.

Whether the Wu Clan heir plans to make a full career out of military service is also unknown. He is the first of his family in centuries to actively clamor for military service. Even though the He Dynasty monarchs were commanders in chief of the armed forces, they never took to the battlefield.

Regardless, the Wu Clan seems to be trying to keep things private and continue to maintain their low profile while attempting to do what is best for the people.

Sunrise Party Releases Election Platform
"Tommorow, Today" 's release gives a real insight into the party's aims and objectives for a future in Indralan politics

Front Cover of the Sunrise Party Platform 4426

TAIXI, Anle Province: Li Peng and Fang Lin during a press conference at the annual party congress of the Sunrise Party announced the release of the Sunrise Party Platform for the upcoming election. The Platform titled, "Tomorrow, Today" laid out what Party President Fang Lin called, "radical economic and social reforms for a new age".

The Platform advocates for increased investment in Indralan industries from abroad via new trade deals and a relaxing of government regulation of shares. It also advocates for privatization of state owned industries combined with a decrease in taxation, in order to increase international interest in Indrala and to drive economic advances.

On the matter of civil liberties, the party advocates for increased freedom and a decrease in criminalisation of acts it regards as, "personal and private", with the overall deregulation of various cultural and social actions appearing as a high priority for the Sunrise Party.

On the matter of the government coalition, the Platform appears to regard it as a tool for national monopolies and for entrenched noble interests within Indrala, and suggests an overall drive towards, " progressive liberal reforms to our country's social fabric."

The Platform was proposed by a joint commission of the party's top officials and voted on by party members, where it past with flying colours. The Platform however is set to divide public opinion, with the anti-establishment and market orientated stance of the party set to put off some of the most conservative and left wing of the electorate. However, Party Leader Li Peng reiterated that, "this Platform's policy framework has the vast support of the majority of the people of Indrala, providing an inspiring message of what a Sunrise Party government could achieve."

Elections are set for the 11th March next year.

Jienists Begin Full Fledged Campaign Across Country

Image
Yan He making election announcement

After a year and half of speaking to the people, the Jien Party has announced the start of its election campaign. Speaking on the steps of Jienist Academy, Jien Party chairman Yan He was surrounded by a crowd of all walks of life: villagers, landowners, scholars, and civil servants.

We the Jien Party ultimately represent the vast majority of the Yingdalan people. Our policies are the policies of the ancestors. Our policies are what will restore our civilization as the actual top civilization in Terra. We will do this by cultivating ourselves, enacting Jienist policies, and only then restore our rightful place in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Volunteers throughout the nation have been staging rallies, large and small, going from door to door asking people to vote for the Jienists, to help restore the country to glory. However, with so many parties contesting the elections, it is unlikely that the Jienists will come out on top.

Rumors are circulating that the Jienists would be willing to consider a coalition with the "more Jienist" parties - whichever those might be. But, the Jienists will certainly exact a price, likely monopoly reform which they have pressed and upheld for centuries.

Now, only Heaven can decide.

PAP Leadership Shaken by Election Results
________________________________________________________________

With the 4426 Elections decided, the People's Action Party has once again plunged back into the second-last spot with only 31 seats in the 668-member Chamber. This electoral setback is mainly blamed onto the PAP's leadership as they failed to organise a leadership contest in a whole year, and ran the entire party without a parliamentary leader. The party has, in the last year, repeatedly missed votes and abstained on key issues such as education and immigration. The entire leadership of the PAP, has announced to step down in response of the poor election results, and called for fresh elections on the leadership.

Image
Li Yichen's campaign poster with Li Yixin, PAP's first leader

In the leadership contest, only one candidate, Li Yichen, stood up to the contest as all experienced leaders have stepped down. Li, a political novice, is the younger brother of PAP former leader and PACE CEO Li Yixin. He is thus fully endorsed by his sister. He received a total of 70.5% of confidence votes and only 28.2% of no confidence, confirming him as the second party leader for the PAP. In his speech, Li promised to bring PAP to new heights, citing the importance of the PACE's development and the focus on issues such as diplomatic co-operation and a conservative social policy.

PACE Announces Business Plans
________________________________________________________________

Following the successes of the PACE in the video games, education and IT industry, PACE has announced a new 'Five-Year Plan' to completely revamp the enterprise into an all-powerful conglomerate, spanning into industries such as real estate, infrastructure and music. With growth prospects high, the PACE has seen highs in the Kaizhou stock market.

PACEWAY CITY

The Paceway City uses an abandoned runway in Hazhou to create a new city area

With property markets in Kaizhou, Tian'an and Mudanwan saturating, Indrala's second line cities are seeing greater opportunities and focus from the real estate industry. To gain on this whole new opportunity, the PACE Enterprise has announced plans to develop Paceway City with the runway of the old airport in the provincial capital of Hazhou. Paceway City will feature eco-friendly architecture and a mixed use development with commercial, recreation and residential land uses. The end of the runway will feature a hub for the city, the 'Fly Park 翱翔公園', honouring the aviation history of the area. This new development is projected to house over 80,000 citizens and provide 50,000 job opportunities.

BUS2.0

The Pioneering Model of the Bus Revealed in the Press Conference

In an attempt to revolutionise transportation, PACE has invested in what is call the 'hanging bus' or Bus 2.0, which hovers above the road, saving precious road space in city centres. While it is only an initial concept, many critics are already calling it a possible solution to Indrala's heavy traffic congestion in key urban cores, which drags down productivity and cause huge economic loss every year. However, some are saying that the idea is an unproven plan, and needs further research and study to look into the feasibility and technicalities of the venture.

Lotus Party Leader announces resignation on JBC Morning Television
Party to hold leadership election in the fall

BTS of the morning interview

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi Province: Li Jinyu has announced he will resign as leader of the Lotus Party after national voters handed their party the lowest share of the popular vote it has ever received in the democratic era. Li made the announcement on JBC Morning Television the morning after the election.

Li called the move "the right thing to do" in order to "pass the torch" to a new generation.

"We completely failed and the entire country has been passed (to the opposition). Everything is my fault and every liability lies with me," Li said to the camera.

Li's decision to step down does not come as a surprise — many pollsters and analysts predicted the Lotus Party would face major difficulties at the ballot box, with Li himself seen as disinterested and low-energy during the campaign.

Even among party members, Li has only enjoyed moderate support throughout his mandate, with his approval rate rarely rising above 55%. His long history as a pacifistic advocate, poet and writer has dampened his appeal broadly, as many parties (notably the Military Party and the reformed Jien Party) made security a ballot box issue.

Li stated that the Leadership Election is scheduled to take place "sometime in the fall." He will remain on as Environment and Tourism Minister until a new coalition is sworn in.

New Dawn Faces Electoral Destruction
12 March 4426
Image

Challenged with numerous new contenders and revived political powerhouses of the past, New Dawn emerged as the biggest loser in yesterday's election. Now led by Luk Runmei, New Dawn toppled from its leading spot in the Grand Assembly, joining the Lotus Party and People's Action Party as the three smallest parties. While the social democratic and military coalition partners of Chief Counselor Lü Jaewoo managed to maintain significant representation in the parliament, the restored Progress Party was the unquestionable victor over all other parties. This outcome for New Dawn was extremely disappointing for Luk, still new to national political leadership. In addition to the likely loss of a role for New Dawn in the national government, the Jiaozhi Province was also lost, along with Lü Yeongja being defeated in her bid for reelection as Mayor of Kaizhou. These losses for New Dawn also aligned with losses for the Lü Clan in government, as the Lü name even disappeared from the Zhijia City Central Committee, with Lü Ae-cha being replaced by Qiao Zhongtian, partner of Luk Runmei. There is no definite explanation for New Dawn's destruction in the elections but plenty of theories exist. Some analysts point to the crowded political field, some say it was the absence of the Lü name, and others claim special interests bolstered the victorious campaigns. What is known by New Dawn leadership is that is has a long road ahead in bringing itself back from this defeat.

Additional Headlines:

Ryeo Hajun Found Dead in Dalibor Hotel

Ahead of a planned release for a new video attacking the Indralan government, the Lü Clan, the triads, and numerous other groups, Ryeo Hajun has turned up dead in his hotel. Police in Gangzhou have few leads in their ongoing investigation. The murdered Ryeo is survived by his imprisoned father, Lü Daejung, and, according to unconfirmed rumors, a child that is in Indrala. Meanwhile, a small group of loyalists organized around Hajun's claims have promised to avenge his death, accusing "traitors in the family" of having allowed for the murder. Boasting affiliations with the fractured kanpa, this underground society laments the "enormous loss" of family influence over the past few decades and it seeks to rally the Kyo diaspora community to build a stronger base of power for their organization in Indrala and abroad.

Zhijia City Revolts Against FCR

The Central Committee of Zhijia City, newly led by Qiao Zhongtian, has taken on a surprisingly adversarial position in its long-standing relationship with the FangCaiRyeo Group, the owners of the namesake Zhijia technology company. Chairman Qiao, while noting the important role of caizu in the economy, criticized their overarching influence in business and politics before leading a vote to impose regulations on new business ownership that encourage entrepreneurship and locally-owned shops. While this move by the Central Committee does not completely remove the FCR Group from its large presence in the district it does at least temporary put in place policies that empower areas like JiyuTown, which is known for the predominance of small artists, street vendors, and unique businesses. Nonetheless, the FCR Group has been caught off guard in facing this opposition from its very own creation.

Jienists Return to Grand Assembly, Pledge to Work with Parties Willing to Uphold Jienist Values

Yan He gives a victory speech at the Jienist Academy

Nearly a century past and the Jienist Party absent from politics - now no longer. After their re-registration two years ago, the Jienist Party has finally returned to the Grand Assembly. Although the return may seem disappointing for a former natural governing party, volunteers and supports seem to care little for the small size of representation and more about representation in general.

It's been a long time since we had true Jienists in the Grand Assembly, let alone ones who have grown Yingdala's might.
, said one villager gathered at the capital for victory celebrations.

In a victory speech, Yan He presented a disappointed, yet hopeful tone - obviously lamenting a lack of a plurality.

We have returned to the Grand Assembly, which is no small feat. Now, the real work begins. We must ensure that Jienism in its classical form is represented in policies and laws. We will educate the people to build up trust in the state, we will ensure the people are fed, and we will defend the people with our utmost strength. Most importantly, we will honor and bring glory to the Son of Heaven and restore Yingdala to its position as a Terran power. May the Son of Heaven live ten thousand years! Ten thousand years! Ten ten thousand years!

Outside of the speech, Jienist members of the Grand Assembly have been signalling their willingness to work with other parties, especially on common Jienist policies. There are even rumors that they are willing to work with the Progress Party to form a government, but only under the condition that republicanism is renounced and the constitutional monarchy upheld. Might an unlikely alliance form? Time will tell.

The Duke of Shu a Common Laborer?

Image
Rumored photo of the Duke of Shu with construction workers

With the return of the Wu Clan to their ancestral Shu Province, Wu Hui, Duke of Shu, has taken an active part in local life. Beyond his ceremonial duties of sacrificing to Heaven and the nature spirits in the four corners of the provinces, the Duke has taken a unique role by actually working among and with his people.

Among the largest landowners in Indrala, His Lordship employs numerous local farm hands to plant, harvest, and manage his fields. He is often seen among them - eschewing industrial machinery and fine clothes for the strenuous task of manually planting rice. Oftentimes he seeks out the best of his farm workers to learn how to improve his technique and crop yields.

Beyond the farms, Duke Wu has been spotted donning a hard hat and construction uniform at the site of Shu dams and irrigation canals. Some even say that he has helped build a few of them, saying how much he believes proper waterworks will improve the lives of the common people.

While the dutiful son labors away in the armed forces, the faithful father serves his people.

Li Family Criticized by PAP Members
________________________________________________________________

As the leadership of the Lis continue within the People's Action Party, the family has all but released control to other party members. Many more cousins and relatives of Li Yixin and Li Yichen are appointed to the Central Committee of the PAP yesterday, causing controversy among the party membership. While the leadership-wide resignation provided an opportunity for the Lis to rise onto power, nobody expected such an aggressive move by the family as over two-thirds of the 31-strong parliamentary PAP caucus remain unrelated to the family in any way, and instead rely on the support of grassroots members across the nation.

Image
Li Yichen and Li Yixin Face the Press

The closeness of the brother and sister has also caused some worries within the party. While the PACE and the PAP political party are closely related and remain co-operative with one another, they are independent entities administratively, and serve wildly different purposes in the society and the nation. Some party members are already voicing concern that the party may give headway and certain benefits to the company in places it govern, which may damage the meritocratic and corruption-free image that the PAP has fought to keep throughout its existence.

Lis excavation lead to the discovery of their historical family records

Following a 'Back to the Roots Expedition' of Li Yixin to the isolated city of Beihei, Li Yixin has made serious headway in discovering the family's history with the nation and its history. Hidden deep in a chest inside the Li family mansion, a Genealogy Book of the Lis from the Colonial Period (~1800) revealed that the Lis once ruled the Beiyidom of Quibashi (Modern day Northern Shu). The book recorded the Lis rule until its collapse under Alorian might, which the family tried to fight back through 'Westernization 洋化' and 'Modernization 為新', actively opening up to the power. This new discovery has made the Lis eager to gain the status of a clan, with its economic and political strength, alongside its historical ties, this may be very likely in the near future.

Shi speaks at a campaign event

DONGJING, Anle: Shi Yiguang, a former federal judge, was elected Leader of the opposition Lotus Party (LP) yesterday after having received 53.7% of the party's membership vote on the second ballot. Now, 41-year-old Shi is tasked with patching up the party following its crushing defeat in the latest elections.

Shi's election formally ends the leadership of poet and author Li Jinyu over the legacy party, after he announced his intention to resign last March. During the leadership campaign, Shi was virtually tied with labourer Baek Min-seok and professor Xie Zhenqing, with Assemblywoman Xie Zetien and labour activist Nguyễn Văn Ấm left far behind. In a online debate, however, Shi gave a strong performance which propelled her to the front of the pack, seeming poised and well-versed on the issues. Thus, Shi was the early leader in the first ballot, and the ultimate victor on the second.

Image

While Shi campaigned on many similar policies as former leader Li, such as agricultural reform, environmental justice, and opposing weapons of mass destruction, Shi is viewed as being more centrist that Li. Further, Shi has called on the Grand Assembly to "rebuild" Indrala's armed forces, a topic Li avoided due to his personal conviction in pacifism.

"Jienzhi taught that there are three key priorities for governing; that people trust the government, that people are well fed, and that the army is well able," Shi said during a campaign speech. "I think our party, and the coalition government made great strides in correcting the mistakes of the previous government and ensuring these first two commitments are met. Now it is time that the Grand Assembly should expedite the acquisition of military technology swiftly and through active consultations among parties."

Shi is the daughter of working-class tenant farmers from the Min Province. While a law student at Dongjing University, Shi was deeply inspired by the Crown Prince's defence of impoverished farmers in that province, deciding to commit herself to public service. Shi worked as a public defender for a number of years before being appointed a civil judge in 4416. After having served in that position for a single ten-year term, Shi became an outspoken critic of the "rough edges" of Indralan capitalism.
