Crown Prince begins mandatory military service, shaves hair
20 November 4492, 2nd year of the Ruyi Era

Left: The Crown Prince, August; Right: The Crown Prince today, during his enlistment.

NORTHERN ANLE, Anle Province: The Sacred Son of Indrala, Crown Prince Luzhen has enlisted with the Imperial Army to complete his mandatory military service. This is atypical, as Crown Princes' have historically opted for civil service as opposed to military service due to their indispensability to the foundation of the Indralan state. Additionally, the Imperial Armed Forces regulatory haircut poses a particular issue for members of the Imperial Clan, who tend not to cut their hair in accordance with their deeply-held religious beliefs. As is written in the Classics,
The body, hair and skin, all have been received from the parents, and so one doesn’t dare damage them—that is the beginning of filial piety.

Nonetheless, seeking to fulfil his civic responsibility, the Crown Prince followed in the footsteps of his great-granduncle Prince Jianhao by spending the last few weeks begging for the permission and forgiveness of his parents, the Empress Kim and the Ruyi Emperor, and of his grandmother, Empress-dowager Yi. The Crown Prince presented the Son of Heaven with a silver sword for which to cut his hair with, and then kneeled before the Emperor until he cut off the Crown Prince's top-knot. After this symbolic step, Palace staff shaved the Crown Prince's hair in accordance with Imperial Army regulations.

The Crown Prince formally enlisted today at the 2nd Infantry base near Dawei Village in Northern Anle Province along with fellow conscripts from all walks of life; all Indralan males are required by law to serve two years of civilian or military national service before their 30th birthday. The Crown Prince appeared bashfully sheepish as his arrival spawned a large crowd of onlookers. As the Crown Prince disappeared behind the base gates, the crowd cheered: "Long Live the Sacred Son, Long Live Crown Prince Luzhen!"

The enlistment of Crown Prince Luzhen has also caused a number of imperial observers to question the future of the rumoured relationship between the Crown Prince and the Princess of Hanzen, Jintana. As has been reported, Princess Jintana's frequent trips to Indrala have raised some eyebrows; the Imperial Household has not replied to any requests for comment regarding the speculation. Nonetheless, it is not a secret that the Crown Prince shares a close relationship with both Jintana and her brother, Prince Sonchai of Hanzen, all of whom were personally tutored by the Tianxing Emperor during their childhood.

JACDP continues construction, first delays announced
With construction of the JACDP almost entering its first year the defense ministry has announced the first delays in the project
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

As the INS Tianxing is starting to take shape and its deck nearly ready the defense ministry announced earlier today that the first delays in the project have been reported. The ministry stated that there was a error in the design and the construction of the command center of the ship and construction for that part has been halted until further notice.

The design companies that have initially designed the ship have been called back to find and fix the flaw in the design as soon as possible. The ministry estimates that the project will in total be delayed by around 3 months because of this setback.
Even though the project has caught some delay in certain areas other parts of the ship are fully being constructed and the silhouette of the ship can already be seen as hundreds of construction workers work on the ship each day.

While the new flagship carrier of the Indralan navy is being constructed Defense minister Zhen also revealed plans to work with the Xiandai Group, Lanshui Shipyard and Tiankong Group in developing a new line of corvettes, cruisers and frigates for the imperial navy to be constructed besides the current program. The ships would, according to the minister, be constructed at the Lanshui Shipyard and constructed jointly by the 3 organizations.

Further details on this plan will be released in the near future by the ministry.

Carrier in full development, new corvette designs revealed
The INS Tianxing is on schedule and enters its second year of development with the main form of the ship completed
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

As the INS Tianxing enters its second year of development the main form of the ship has been largely completed and the interior is already being prepared for construction. Even after the small delay following some design flaws the command tower has also largely been contructed and the first interior materials are entering the carrier.
The defense ministry has also released a periodical report on the costs of the ship until now. According to their report the ship has cost 627 million up to this point with the end cost now being estimated at around 2.8 billion INS.

The carrier itself will also be equipped with the newest radar systems and will possibly include a new prototype system aimed at distorting submarine sonar. This system is untested however and the defense ministry states that it is looking for ways to implement the system in a "responsible way" and is unsure if they will use it at all on the new carrier.

The Defense minister Zhen also reported that Xiandai Group, Lanshui Shipyard and Tiankong Group have come up with new corvette designs and will start development of the new corvette "as soon as possible".
All three companies will work on constructing the new corvettes for the Imperial Navy with construction planned to start within a year.

Assemblywoman Park Ji-yeon elected Lotus Party Leader
20 October 4496 (OOC: Postdated)
Image
Image

Jugang, Jiaozhi Province: Prominent Lotus Party Assemblywoman Park Ji-yeon has been elected as leader of her party following the resignation of former leader and Chief Minister Lai Haomin. Park is the first Kyo-Indralan woman to be elected to the leadership of a major federal party in Indralan history.

49-year-old Park was elected with 54% on the first ballot, edging out Foreign Minister Li Donghe and Businessman Mao Guanting for the leadership of the Lotus Party. Predicting a victory, Park and her supporters gathered outside the Jugang Convention Centre to celebrate. Despite an unexpected rain shower, the atmosphere was jubilant as Lotus Party members and supporters bet on Park to restore the legacy party to its position as the largest party in the Grand Assembly.

Prior to entering politics, Park was the daughter of Park Ji-won, a prominent businessman in Jiaozhi. Park's father was one of the co-founders of the Air Haiwan Group conglomerate, as well as serving on the boards of the Kaizhou Inquirer Media Group, the Jiaozhi Broadcasting Corporation and Indralair. However, during her adolescence, Park's father was killed in a car accident, leaving behind massive debts and no income to support Park, her mother, or her eight siblings. Subsequently, Park and her family moved from their palatial Kaizhou mansion to a three-bedroom townhouse in Jugang. The following year, Park and her family would begin to receive welfare payments and social security benefits.

Despite these challenges, Park committed herself to her education, viewing it as her personal mission to restore her family's name. Park graduated from Kaizhou National University with a Bachelor of Commerce at the top of her class. Thereafter, Park worked a number of corporate jobs before starting her own business empire with her sister, the clothing retailer park&park.

Nonetheless, Park Ji-yeon's inadvertent political reeducation led her to become a vocal supporter of the welfare state and of the Lotus Party. Park was first elected under the Lotus Party ticket in 4495, despite the party losing 147 seats.

"There is no indignity in receiving a helping hand up," said Park to her supporters after winning the leadership election. "Together, we shall build a country of second chances and boundless dreams, and in the words of Leader Huang, we shall not stop until our dreams come true!"

Crown Prince Luzhen promoted to Corporal, receives awards

Dawei, Anle Province: Crown Prince Luzhen has publicly received his promotion to the position of corporal today during the 2nd Infantry's Armed Forces' Day celebration. The Crown Prince was also presented a number of awards and commendations for high-performance during his training period.

"I am very honoured to be here today alongside so many precious daughters and sons of Indrala," said the Crown Prince during his brief remarks. "Long live the Son of Heaven!"

According to anonymous sources within the 2nd infantry base, the Crown Prince has foregone any formality among his colleagues, urging them to not kowtow before him while they serve together in the Imperial Indralan Army. Accordingly, the Crown Prince has made a large number of commoner friends with whom he spends the majority of his free time. Indeed, the base which the Crown Prince is stationed at has said that the Crown Prince has not left the base during his scheduled breaks, opting instead to spend the time with his military friends.

The 2nd Infantry released a brief statement which read that the Crown Prince had left his base today after receiving his promotion and awards. He has been assigned to the artillery brigade at Yi'an County of Min Province.

Tiankong announces major domestic project
Construction will be occurring across the nation's cities

The Lusen Project which has begun work in Tian'an, and has been completed in Kaizhou

TIAN'AN, Capital Region: In the continuation of a project that like many of its other began in Kaizhou, the Tiankong Group will begin a nationwide rollout of its Lusen Project.

Lusen, or green forest, will include of the creation of city districts run by 100% green energy and consisting of buildings scaled by gardens containing millions of local plant specimens, an idea likely inspired by Zhijia's farming tower.

So far plans have been announced in most of Indrala's major cities, including Taixi, Mudanwan, Ciyao, Shencheng, Meihua, Jugang, and Haiwan. Both Kaizhou and Tian'an have already completed or are currently in the midst of the project's construction. It is expected that the areas may quickly become bustling upper and middle-class neighbourhoods in their respective cities, boosting local economies and Tiankong's profits with commercial areas planned, something similar to Tiankong's successful Sky Cities.

In Tian'an, the project has been slated for completion by the end of autumn. Due to its location in a previously bustling area near Tian'an National University, Tiankong has announced reduced housing costs for any former residents who wish to move back into the district. The construction also includes a multimillion dollar deal with TNU to upgrade parts of its campus.

There has been some speculation that the conglomerate is attempting to pull together deals and business before the Lourenne-Indrala Free Trade and Cooperation Agreement (LIFTCA) goes into affect in July, as it is expected to pass in the Grand Assembly. Such a deal would allow Lourennais companies, such as TLG Ecologie to enter the Indralan market. However, the deal would go both ways and allow Tiankong to open in Lourenne as well.

Lusen's construction plan puts it at a time table of about 3 years to finish completion across Indrala.

Dawei Imperial College in Northern Anle

DAWEI, Anle Province: Princess Jintana of Hanzen, who turned 20 two months ago, has released information that she will be attending Dawei Imperial College, which is located in Northern Anle.

"I'm really happy to publically release this information. The higher education institutions of Indrala have long been some of the best in the world, I can't wait to join their ranks," she said, "I know some people will question why I didn't go for a KITE school, but honestly they didn't seem like the right fit for me."

According to sources close to the Udomprecha Royal Family, Princess Jintana begged her father to allow her to stay in Indrala to study, and despite his original reluctance to have her stay so long, he was finally swayed.

Interestingly, the Dawei Imperial College is close in proximity to the 2nd Infantry base, which is where Crown Prince Luzhen is currently enlisted. Both royals have been the center of speculation over a possible relationship over the years, although no definitive answer has been released by either family. This move has only increased suspicions; however.

"I definitely ship those two. They really belong together; I mean look at how they seem to follow each other around," commented one Weilai user.

Despite Princess Jintana enrolling in an Indralan university, her twin brother has opted to remain in Udon Nakhon, allowing him to continue his duties as crown prince during his university education.

Zhijia Unveils Enormous Guitan Urban Development Project
____________________________________________________________________________________________

GUITAN, Jiaozhi Province: The next major project for Zhijia was announced with much fanfare today in Kaizhou. Touted as surpassing the scale of anything in existence in Indrala, and even in the entirety of Terra, this unnamed project in Guitan will see the construction of a "world in miniature." In some regards it is a massive themed shopping mall featuring an amusement park, in other ways it is essentially a planned urban centre like Zhijia City. Showing off their model of the project concept, Zhijia executives highlighted the many unique elements of the project which is expected to take over a decade to complete. Some sections of the project are hoped to feature temperature controlled domes which will allow for even more opportunities to create themed zones that bring in experiences from all corners of the globe. While Zhijia is heading this project they are also seeking other investors to be able to accomplish this architectural feat.

DEVELOPING: Jasmine Society Leadership in Limbo
____________________________________________________________________________________________

TIAN'AN, Han Province: The leadership of the Jasmine Society has been thrown into complete uncertainty as a result of Dr. Shih Enyu's sudden resignation as leader of the party. Expressing his unwillingness to continue in a political environment, Dr. Shih announced that he would depart the parliament at the end of his term and return to an academic role at Haiwan College in the Anle Province. And effective immediately, Dr. Shih has stepped down from his role leading the Jasmine Society, leaving the organization without a determined successor. Party President Nai Yaowen, who already had announced plans for retirement for next year, is now being looked at by some party members as the interim leader, although the enthusiasm is minimal. There currently appears to be no consensus within the party for selection of a new leader.

Jasmine Society Fractures

TIAN'AN, Han Province: Since the sudden departure of Dr. Shih Enyu, leader of the Jasmine Society, the party has suffered an intense struggle to find a new figurehead. Nai Yaowen, thrown into an interim leadership position just ahead of retirement, expedited his own leave from the Jasmine Society, disinterested in having such responsibility dropped upon him without notice. In the weeks since the initial resignation of Dr. Shih, the Jasmine Society has finally declined to a point of disintegration with its membership fracturing in the parliament and regional offices shutting their doors. Of the party’s 119 members in the Grand Assembly, 63 shifted to the Lotus Party and 47 to the Bamboo-Left Coalition. Nine other members, including all three of Jasmine Society cabinet members, are planning to form a new political organization that will compete in the next general elections.

New Dawn Revived After a Half-Century
____________________________________________________________________________________________

Minister of Science & Technology Sun Ho-joon, leading New Dawn's revival

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi Province: An iconic political party of the 44th Century, the techno-progressive New Dawn, has found new life after being inactive for over five decades. Once synonymous with the now extinct Lü Clan, New Dawn led three Indralan governments and, even when out of the Office of the Chief Minister, it almost always had an active role in the ruling coalition. New Dawn oversaw the creation of an Office of Digital Democracy, was an instrumental defender of the Indralan monarchy, and it played an important role in guiding the local politics of Zhijia City.

Hurt by widespread political apathy in the late 4440s, New Dawn disbanded following a major dispute over selection of the party’s next leader. Even with New Dawn’s absence from the political scene, its influences had a lasting impact on Indrala, especially in communities where the party had garnered enormous public loyalty. This is particularly evident in Zhijia City, which enjoyed significant favoritism within New Dawn leadership. The community was also home to the party’s national headquarters.

All these years later, the New Dawn name has reemerged with the help of nine Jasmine Society defectors and a number of aging former supporters of New Dawn who once participated in the party’s youth organization. The nine, led by Minister of Science & Technology Sun Ho-joon, traveled to the former headquarters of New Dawn to announce the revival of the old party alongside this group of long-standing loyalists.
