Nationalist Alliance Rallies Nationalist Right-Wing

As the right in Indrala continues to be predominantly pro-establishment and pro-multiculturalism, a new movement has developed from the unlikely alliance of a businesswoman called Qiao Xinyi and a former diplomat called Huo Hanying. Together, with their associates from across Indrala, the pair have united to create the Nationalist Alliance - a staunchly monarchistic and patriotic party that flies in the face of most of Indralan politics at the moment. Xinyi was elected unanimously by the few hundred party members it has attracted so far and was made party leader with no opposition. She told reporters upon the official formation of the party that "me and the Nationalist Alliance are striving to change the way politics is done in Indrala, and make Indrala about Indralans once again". The party is seeking to cut migration, constrain the budget, regulate businesses and make religion a key part of everyday Indralan life once again.

Xinyi has a checkered past, working as a prostitute from the age of 17 to the age of 23 in order to fund her education and to pay for her taxes, food, water, electricity and rent. Her family was among the very poorest in Indrala, and while she was surrounded by prosperity from her youth in the rich and vibrant environment on Indrala, she could only aspire. "I learnt when I was very young that the world is not kind," she was quoted as telling fellow directors at the insurance firm she briefly was CEO of, "and I learnt that we must all aspire to something better. I found my release in Eliyahu almighty, and I think that spirituality - in any of its peaceful forms - is vital to living a moral life". Xinyi has long said that at the age of 23, as she started to enter the world of real work, she heard the voice of her late Hosian grandmother telling her that if she turned to Eliyahu she would be successful. 30 years on and it seems she might have been right.

Xinyi's religious beliefs colour her perception of the world. She believes that life begins at the point of conception, and thus that all abortion is murder. She also sees euthanasia as murder, while being avowedly against the death penalty regardless of the crime committed. "Life if life," she told party members at the Nationalist Alliance's first ever meeting of members, "and there is never a reason to take life unless it is to save more life. No action that results in a net loss of life should ever be permitted". This may be an extreme opinion to take in an increasingly progressive nation, but this woman's life is filled with extremes of highs and lows. CEO of the country's largest insurance firm, but also open about her inability to becoming pregnant and her 'heartbreaking' divorce when she was only 29. She never married again, saying "I am never alone when I am with my god, and that is a peace I hope that everyone one day finds for themselves".

But the party is not all about Xinyi, as interesting as her life may or may not be. It's highly pro-monarchy, but seeks a 'more open and more modern' kind of aristocracy. Rather than the exclusive and secretive institution currently in existence, Xinyi would like to see gradual changes that make the monarchy 'modern'. The party recently issued an official notice of support for the crown prince in his attempt to marry an ordinary citizen, saying that it was 'absolutely and entirely his choice and he was absolutely and entirely right to follow his heart'. As a party with many Hosians - including Xinyi herself - the traditional nature of Indrala's culture is seen as vital but not perfect. While the party is a massive supporter of the rights of ethnic Indralans and the sovereignty of Indrala, there are some elements of Indrala that "must be opened up so that the most moral choice be made, in our national interest" - according to deputy party leader, Huo Hanying. The party also supports a rehabilitation-orientated justice system.

Is there an opening for this kind of party? Probably, for there are no so expressly religious, conservative and nationalist parties in Indrala. The Lotus Party is socially progressive, New Dawn has supported formidable regulations on businesses and the Freedom Party is also socially liberal. A party firmly on the right like the Nationalist Alliance could peel voters from all three of the above mentioned, as well as gain votes from those who don't vote as they see no party as conservative enough. However, we will have to see the results of the upcoming election to know how, and if, this party can grow in membership and power. We'll also see who its political allies will be in one of the most unique countries in the world - and one of the most powerful. Xinyi's faith and monarchical modernisation strategy could lose votes from traditionalists, but the nearly 2 million Hosians in Indrala could also be a considerable base of support.

EXCLUSIVE: Crown Prince marries commoner with massive outpouring of support
Story by Wang Tingfei
Image

OVER THE SUMMER, the Indralan public has been gripped by a real life fairy-tale, occurring between the dashing Crown Prince and a lowly peasant. In a feud held inside the Imperial Palace, which extraordinarily was leaked to the public, the Imperial Household faced off with scholars, priests, servants and bureaucrats, who had expressed their discontent over the Prince's choice to marry a commoner.

The vast majority of Indralans never get to hear the voice of a monarch, however it is likely that most will now never forget that of Prince Yinju, as he declared, "[his] heart is already promised" to the commoner, Miss Kwan Jiang, in a debate which was secretly recorded and leaked to the media. Despite the Prince's sincerity, the Imperial Household staff continued to protest the engagement, and refused to send betrothal gifts to Kwan. At one point, a servant went as far as to make a threat against Kwan's life, which enraged the Prince such that he reportedly said to a staffer:

"I will begin my walk to the servants' wing of the palace. If [the servant in question] is not arrested and removed by the time I get there, I will kill him with my own two hands."

The news of the Palace establishment working not only against the wishes of the Imperial Household, but in an elitist way against the marriage infuriated the Indralan public. Thousands of Indralans of all political and religious stripes gathered outside of the Palace chanting in support of Yinju. Many republicans even joined their monarchist compatriots in their support of the marriage. The Nationalist Alliance, which advocates a reformist position with regard to the monarchy, issued a statement in support of the Crown Prince.

By the end of May, the Emperor had issued an proclamation confirming the marriage, but it was blocked from leaving the Imperial Palace by bureaucrats within the Imperial Household Agency. This was the final move which incensed the Emperor and influenced him to make the decision to fire 1,000 staff members, including a full sweep of the Palace bureaucracy. Awaiting the dismissed servants were thousands of angry Indralans, loaded with an arsenal of expired produce.

Image

With the fundamental officials in the bureaucracy replaced, the Emperor was able to issue a proclamation, which was delivered to the Grand Assembly on 5 June 4374, in which the Emperor said:

"Having already earned Heaven’s ire, [the staff] still thought to be obstreperous and take an egocentric path. How could one regard this disobedience and contrariness as “righteousness”? Thus, the various servants and staff in their fallings simply brought to themselves their fate outside of the Imperial Palace."

The Emperor also discussed his belief in meritocracy and equality as he bestowed his blessing on the marriage, which was set to occur on 6 September 4374. This proclamation, directly dictated by the Emperor and much longer than the most recent marriage proclamation (between Princess Subin and Prince Jebr of Jelbania) was received by the public enthusiastically.

The Emperor also ensured a vast range of bridal gifts including various gold jewelry, aged tea, money and furniture were sent to Kwan Jiang, much larger than those sent to his own in-laws. Thousands of Indralans flanked the route from Kwan's rural Shu Province village to Tian'an wishing to catch a glimpse of the rags-to-riches princess. However the shy girl, surely and understandably out of her element kept the carriage curtain closed for most of the trip. In breach of protocol, and perhaps in recognition of the value of public pressure, the Crown Prince received his bride outside of the Gate to the Imperial Palace, allowing the public to briefly see the two royals together. Video of Kwan's smile as she sees Yinju has gone viral on Indralan social media.

The two were wed in a traditional and private Jienist ceremony within the Imperial Palace. Well-wishers gathered outside the Palace walls were informed of the marriage by 9 booming strikes of a gong, which sparked a massive celebration in the streets of Tian'an. Having married a commoner, the "People's Prince" as he was first called in 4367 has certainly lived up to this title.

INDRALA FINISHES 4380 OLYMPICS WITH HIGHEST GOLD MEDAL COUNT, LAUNCHES KAIZHOU 4400 BID
24 July, 4380

NOWOGARD, Valruzia -- Following a stunning closing ceremony, Indralan olympians are flying home from the Nowogard 4380 Summer Olympics with 25 gold medals draped around their necks, the highest number of any country competing. The Indralan olympic team suffered humiliation in the first event, not placing in the top three in any archery category; the team would rebound as the Olympics continued. The solid performance of the Indralan olympians has renewed interest in the Kaizhou bid to host, with the Indralan National Olympic Committee formally submitting a proposal to the Terran Olympic Committee for the 4400 Summer Games.

Fang Wei sentenced to 16 years in prison for corporate sabotage, accessory to murder, and other charges
The stern-faced philanthropist ultimately accepted a guilty plea after over 5 months of court proceedings

The final moment: Mr. Fang Wei moments after accepting a guilty plea for corporate sabotage and accessory to murder, among other charges.

TIAN'AN, Han: After 5 months of grueling court proceedings, a final verdict has been reached: Fang Wei, Chairman of the Freedom Party, Chairman of the Fang Corporation and CEO of Indralan National Petroleum has pled guilty to charges of corporate sabotage, accessory to murder, and insider trading. He also announced that he would step down from all of his business positions, as well as leading the Freedom Party, instead accepting that the leadership position be handed over to an interim Chairman, who will mainly preside over the liquidation of the political party. Immediately after the issuing of Fang's sentence, shares in INP as well as the corporation's airliner, FIN dropped significantly, immediately plunging the company into bankruptcy. Jian Kwan, the party's Deputy Chairman announced that he would also step down from his positions, and begin to sell off the Fang Corporation's assets later this week. From reports publicized by the jury, Fang Wei confessed that out of all the party's 50 representatives in the Grand Assembly, over a stunning 39 were involved in criminal activity, leading to much more smaller court cases to be held in the coming months. He also agreed to the dissolution of the Freedom Party, effective immediately. After creating such economic growth for the nation, it seems that it may have been through dirty methods.

FM Sung: "Dynastic imperialism is unjustified in modern times"
Foreign Minister speaks against "dated and farcical" Hutorian royal claims over Shahdom of Aldegar
Image
Sung is surrounded by reporters outside the Grand Assembly building

TIAN'AN, Han Province: Amid a diplomatic feud between Aldegar and Hutori, Foreign Minister Sung Hyo-rin weighed in on the issue, declaring that "dynastic imperialism is unjustified in modern times."

The conflict emerged over the tangental claims of Alexander I, the Hutorian monarch, to the crown of Aldegar. In response, the Aldegarian claimant, Shah Kurosh Kasad, sent a soiled Hutorian flag to Alexander.

"The sun has set on the era of far-reaching empires," said Sung to reporters, "the international community must respect the self-determination of the Aldegarian people to appoint the royal claimant of their choice. The Hutorian claim is dubious at best; an example of historical revisionism used to fit the narrative of an idealistic past."

When asked whether the conflict would affect Indrala's relationship with Hutori, Sung was far less cynical.

"We don't intend to allow this spat to detract from our commitment to expanding our relationships abroad," said Sung, "it's a minor issue in the context of our bilateral relationship."

JUGANG, Jiaozhi Province: Last June, the Emperor presented the Grand Assembly with an edict proposing the construction of a new Imperial College. The new institution would be named after King Haejo of Dankuk and have an academic focus directed toward Northern Dovani history, culture and contemporary affairs. King Haejo is a direct matrilineal ancestor of the Emperor of Indrala through his mother, Princess Ryeo Kyunghee of Dankuk.

Following the announcement, many non-profit organization representing the Kyo minority in Indrala have sprung to action, none more visibly than the Indrala Dankuk Friendship Organization. The IDFA has enlisted the support of numerous YingPop stars, an industry which has deep roots in the Kyo refugee diaspora, gaining the attention of young Indralans of all ethnic backgrounds over social media and on television.

One of Indrala's top YingPop performers, Park Jin-soo (commonly known as "Jinsoo") has been at the forefront of this initiative. A descendant of Kyo refugees, Park spoke about the importance of the project during a fundraising concert held last monday in Kaizhou.

"I want people in Indrala and around the world to see that Dankuk is so much more than this dictatorship," Park said to the audience, "the Haejo Imperial College is a great opportunity for Kyo and Dranian culture to be examined and studied beyond the ideological filter of the Taeyang Regime."

The Imperial Household remains the largest private donor to the institution, pledging to donate $450m toward the initial construction and start-up costs. As with the Kyung-hee Imperial University, it is expected that the Ministry of Education will foot most of the bill.

EMPEROR SHOCKED AS HE WITNESSES OFFICIAL DIE FROM BRAIN ANEURYSM
13 December, 4380

TIAN'AN, Han Province: The Imperial Household Agency has announced that an official to the Imperial Court, Mr. Duan Ying, has died of a ruptured brain aneurysm during a meeting in the Inner Court of the Imperial Palace. A man of advanced age, sources say the official suddenly collapsed leading many to initially believe he had fainted due to the pressure of standing at attention for over an hour. After being whisked to the Palace Doctor, Mr. Duan was confirmed dead at 11:02 AM.

Due to the high profile nature of the death Mr. Duan's personal physician, Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, held a press conference following the autopsy explaining Mr. Duan's genetic predisposition to developing a brain aneurysm, as well as a recent and concerning MRI scan which seemed to indicate the growth of a non-ruptured aneurysm as early as last month.

Sources within the Imperial Palace have said that the Emperor was greatly disturbed by the sudden death of his official and has announced his intention to mourn privately for the next week.

Radicals Celebrate Death of Duan

Image

Following recent revelations on the death of Inner Court member Duan Ying, some Civic Forum members have started celebrating across the nation. In one undisclosed concert hall in Han, radical members of Civic Forum has even went so far to organize a concert to perform songs of festivity. A video even recorded members saying the tragic death is 'a punishment from Jienzi himself', of which will soon be extented to the 'other imperialist scum'.

However, the leader of the radical faction, Zhang Wei has remained silent on the matter, whereas party leader Jiang Zongren condemned the behaviour, promising to kick members out of the party if necessary. It is simply unsure how such large scale activities are co-ordinated within the party without the support of any internal factions.

New Radicals Surface in Indrala

Image
Leader of Youth Division of Civic Forum, Tang Zijing

As politics in Indrala shifts quickly, the Civic Forum has undergone a rift in its party line. With the Liberal Party's close alignment with the Forum's economic line of pro-competition and pro-privatisation, and the Republican agenda's slow fade-out in the public realm, some radicals have decided to take to themselves to create a new Civic Forum.

Yesterday evening, the Youth Division leader of the Civic Forum, Tang Zijing called a surprise press conference, announcing the creation of an internal party movement called the 'Republican Revolution'. On the agenda, a re-focus on the Republican Agenda passed by the previous party conference, the establishment of a militia for Republicanism, and the exploration of a possible 'united front' with the Communists. However, on the upcoming leadership contest, he has not expressed wishes to contest, but said 'you will have to wait for that'.

Stop bothering me you m***********s!
- Jiang Zongren

Facing this news, the party leadership seemed shell-shocked as party leader Jiang Zongren sworn in front of a group of reporters in the party headquarters, while the Central Committee was convened in an emergency meeting. Zhang Wei, the leader of the radical faction of the Civic Forum, on the other hand announced his disapproval to the new group.

This Republican Revolution has been the clear act of the Civic Forum for the last ten years. I simply cannot understand how so many party members, especially the youth group, can simply ignore the progress that we have made in the Republican cause, expanding the political front through the new agenda, pushing legislation and gaining electoral success.
- Zhang Wei

With the new leadership contest scheduled for next year, this new Republican Revolution movement may reveal its strength. Currently, this is a truly big question mark on the future of the Civic Forum, and the entire Republican camp.
