Foreign Minister Dai invites Kazulians for State Visit before diplomatic tour
Dai Jinhao has officially extended an invitation to a Kazulian delegation of diplomats and military officials after decades of icy relations
Image
Lotus Party Leader and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dai Jinhao provides a media availability at the Grand Assembly press hall

TIAN'AN, Han -- The relationship between Kazulia and Indrala can best be described in the recent era as complex. In 4329, the Kazulian government declassified a top-secret plan titled Offensive Initiative Tide which outlined in great detail how a potential invasion of Indrala should be executed. The unexpected and unjustified plans drew anger from the Indralan government, public and international community at large. Indrala, governed at the time by Kwan Zhiyong, was undertaking an official state policy of pacifism and neutrality which made the news all the more shocking. The savagery of the document, which suggests that "all available artillery pieces within range of Indralan mainland must be launched on a scorched earth policy" was also highlighted by the public.

It goes without saying that the Indralan government was infuriated, and Jien Party Foreign Affairs Minister Jin Ru demanded an apology. Believing the Kazulians to be reasonable people, the nation was shocked again by the Kazulian Foreign Affairs Minister Annette Brodersen, who not only refused to offer an apology, but laced her remarks with religious bigotry and ethnocentrism, claiming that the state's Jienist philosophy and religion is inseparable from imperialism and colonialism.

In recent years, however, there has been a shift within the the Kazulian government. Last week, Kazulia proposed sending senior diplomats and military officials to mend the relationship between the two Dovani powers. The Indralan government's response was unclear at first, but today during a press briefing, Foreign Minister and Lotus Party Leader Dai Jinhao announced that the delegation would be received by the government:
We accept and trust the sincerity of the Kazulian government in trying to take responsibility for their aggression twenty years ago. To that end, we will welcome the Kazulian delegation in Tian'an at the earliest convenience. We made it abundantly clear early on that a formal apology would be the essential step in restoring relations between our two nations and we have received assurances that such an apology will be given. We have asked that the apology not be given to the government of Indrala, but to the people of Indrala; it was this vile document which instilled fear in our people and denigrated our state religion. To that end, the apology given by the Kazulian officials in Tian'an and to the people will hopefully set the tone for our bilateral relations moving forward.

When asked whether Dai feels confident about future relations, he responded by saying:
Twenty years ago, Kazulia had an administration that viewed an officially pacifistic government led by a pro-democratic activist and human rights attorney as a "threat." Today it seems that the younger generation is open to global cooperation, peace and diversity, rather than stability through force and coercion. That the Kazulian government reached out to our nation first in a conciliatory manner is very meaningful. I have ever confidence in the future of our bilateral relationship moving forward.

The meeting in Tian'an comes before Minister Dai's scheduled diplomatic tour next year, in which he will visit Vorona, New Endralon/Kizenia, Trigunia, Telamon, Lodamun, Valruzia and Aldegar in which he will strive to strengthen trade relations abroad.

Instability Continues in Indralan Government; As Results From Election of 4352 Come In
Image
People line up to vote at a polling station in a Tian'an neighbourhood.

TIAN'AN, Han -- Indrala has seen its third snap election in a row, and fourth in the past twenty years. This has shown a growing instability in the Indralan government, as parties seem unable to lead effectively lead our country. However, it must be noted by the populace that these past elections have been due to a significant drop in the number of parties competing for election. In fact, Indrala's former Jien, Warlord, and more recently Centre Parties have all disbanded. While the others fell for different reasons, many political commenters have marked the Centre Party's collapse to the recent scandal between He Bolin and Tao Hong. One former Centre Party voter commented:

I used to fervently support the Centre Party. To me, they were truly the only party that stood for our family values and would keep our economy running smoothly. But, after that scandal, I couldn't bring myself to support them! I mean, those two were caught on camera! That's unacceptable moral behaviour.

Another important detail is that these collapsing parties, with the exception of the small Green Democratic Party, have all been right-wing economically. This leaves three out four of the Grand Assembly's parties left-wing and only one, New Dawn, on the right.

Now onto the election itself. With over 200 seats being freed by the Centre Party's exit, every single party managed to gain more than 20 seats in this election. The big winner however was New Dawn who managed to come away with 239, over 33% of the legislature, placing them in the former role of the Centre Party. Possibly due to the seemingly constant snap elections in our country, the percentage of voters has continued to decrease, making a recent low of only 43 million hitting the polls. Further election news will be published as soon as new information is released by the government.

While the paper remains generally non-partisan, critics have observed a tendency for the paper to publish articles which generally support classically liberal economic policies and the established economic order of Indrala.

Xiandai Group, Indrala Fengyu to begin major mining project in Jelbania

Image
Xiandai Group Director of Mining Operations Wang Leijie and Indrala Fengyu CEO Liu Yuanqing

TIAN’AN, Han [24 November 4353]: Xiandai Group and Indrala Fengyu announced a major investment in the Jelbania's mining sector. Jelbania, which the government recently signed a Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with is a developing economy with vast reserves of minerals. Copper, which is in high-demand around the world is of particularly high demand in the Indralan domestic market, as the northern-based electronics sector continues to grow. To meet this market demand, Xiandai and Indrala Fengyu, two of the "big three" mining and mineral extraction companies in Indrala (the other being Qingyi Group) have partnered to expand their operations in Jelbania, worth many billions in shapirs.

The two companies will be establishing an open-pit copper mine in the Taghe, or region, of Baniray, after a $96m exploration which lasted two years found high-grade copper near the surface. Another thrilling discovery was the reserves of rhenium found amidst the copper. While much of Jelbania is rural and unconnected, the companies applauded the government's recent major investments in road-building which Xiandai's Wang Leiji said "made this project possble as it allows us to get these resources to market."

The infrastructure challenges in Jelbania, however, have not been entirely resolved. To this end, Xiandai will be constructing a number of toll-roads and private highways to more directly get copper from the landlocked Baniray region to the coast. From the coast, the raw copper ore will be shipped to the Anle province of Indrala by way of the Majatran Sea. Wang also indicated that "hopefully this will be a temporary measure for the early construction period. When the mine is operating at full capability we hope to be able to move the resource via rail."

The copper mining operation is expected to have very real positive effects on the Jelbanian economy, which has repeatedly failed to meet its government's targeted growth rate. Indrala Fengyu CEO Liu Yuanqing said that the new mine will create 2,900 temporary jobs, followed by 1,700 high-paying permanent jobs, although this may expand in the future: "with good fortune, we expect this to be the largest open-pit copper mine on the Majatran continent! So you can bet there will be more jobs as it grows!"

For each job directly created in the copper mine, there are going to be a projected 3-4 jobs indirectly created either through Xiandai company road maintenance, shipping, transport and local accounting and administration. This would put the net positive addition to the Jelbanian job market at around 10,000.

Following the announcement the share price for both companies was bullish. Indrala Fengyu's share price had already risen to its highest ever price two weeks earlier after it was announced that CEO Liu's daughter would be marrying the heir of the Xiandai Group, Wang Jinhuan.

"King of YingPop" Huang Yao dead at 97

Indralan entertainer Yao at age 30

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi [24 November 4353]: Huang Yao, or Yao is as he is more commonly known, an award-winning singer, actor, philanthropist and business figure passed died last night of natural causes. Yao has been referred to by many as the "King of YingPop" for his central role in its rise in the mid-4270s.

Yao was born on 23 July 4256, the youngest son of then-human rights attorney Huang Zitao and fashion designer Kim Bo-young. Debuting in 4270, at the age of 14, Huang Yao's album XIV went triple platinum. That year, he was ranked the most popular entertainment star in Indrala by the Tian'an Times. Huang Yao's rise in celebrity coincided with his father's rise in politics, and Yao was often seen at Lotus Party fundraising and campaign events in support of his father. During Huang Zitao's Lotus Party leadership campaign, Huang Yao said that "... there is no better individual that I can imagine to lead our country. My father is such a great man that I feel ashamed to be his son with my many flaws. I hope that when I die I can have the chance to be born again as his son so that I can work even harder to be deserving of his love..." Huang Zitao would go on to become Grand Chancellor of Indrala.

Meanwhile, Yao became a household name, releasing a number of albums and singles as well as starring in a number of television dramas, including The Great Lieutenant, and the film Spark in a Mountain Village which earned him the prestigious Best Actor Award at the annual Indrala Film Academy Awards.

Huang Yao would later marry Indrala supermodel Kwan Huiyin and retire from the spotlight to raise a family. In 4304, Yao partnered with longtime friend and fellow singer Maggie Song to found http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/YM_Entertainment]YM Entertainment, one of Indrala's largest trainee and entertainment production companies. Yao remained very active in the company, controlling a 51% share. Following the news of his death, the share price of YM Entertainment has fallen from $66.83 to $39.24 INS.

Huang Yao is survived by his son, Huang Yuan and his daughter, Huang Bingbing. KBS is scheduled to air a tribute concert to Huang next month featuring a number of Indrala's top celebrities performing his songs.

TQ Group partners with Trigunian billionaire to construct condos

Image
TQ Group's Tang Ruogang and Trigunian billionaire Lobachyov Aleksandr (Sasha) Grigorievich descend from the boardroom for a cigarette break

RODSHYADAM, Trigunia [24 November 4353]: Indrala's largest property developer, the caizu firm TQ Group, has capitalized on direct investment protections under the new Indrala-Trigunia Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. This afternoon, TQ Group Director of Overseas Operations Tang Ruogang was spotted meeting with Trigunian real estate mogul Lobachyov Aleksandr (Sasha) Grigorievich.

It was announced later in the day that the two had reached a deal to construct a number of luxury condominiums in Rodshyadam. TQ Group is reportedly investing around $200m INS, while the majority stake in the investment will be managed by Sasha Grigorievich. Since the warming of relations between the two nations after President Lyonya's first election, Trigunia has become a favoured vacation spot for well-to-do Indralans interested in winter sports.

"You've got the money to come, why not spend the money to stay?" said Grigorievich with a laugh. As Indrala's booming post-dictatorial economy continues to grow, so too has income inequality. Rich Indralans unafraid to flaunt their wealth have been spotted in many of world's major cities. It appears that Rodshyadam is no exception.

Dai Jinhao resigns amidst legislative and electoral failure
The billionaire-investor turned politician said that Indralans had handed him his "performance review"
15 May 4356

Dai waves to supporters

NATIONAL NEWS: On election night, Lotus Party supporters in the Tian'an Conference Centre were gambling that the party would pick up seats from the recently disbanded Socialist Party. However, the Lotus Party received its lowest number of votes in history at around 3.5 million. Turnout in this snap election was also at historic lows, with only 39% of voters going to the polls.

Dai Jinhao was elected Party Leader during the beginning of the Lotus Party's decline under Dr. Yi Junkai. Dai was appointed Foreign Affairs Minister in July of 4348, and went on to sign more trade agreements abroad than any of his predecessors had in 100 years. His success abroad was applauded by party members, winning each of his leadership reviews with massive margins despite the Party's sluggish electoral performance.

In December 4252, Dai wrote the Indralan Foreign Policy Strategy (commonly referred to as the Dai Paper), which failed after the Social Democrats voted against, after initially indicating their support. Dai drafted the policy after holding an all-party committee on foreign affairs, the findings of which he compiled in what had been viewed by many as the most comprehensive foreign policy strategy in nearly 200 years.

“The Red Parties [referring to the Socialist Party and the Social Democratic Party, which both have red as their official colour] have chosen the path they want for Indrala,” Dai said to reporters at the time, “and that path is one where Indrala stands alone in the world, cut off from the community of nations.”

Following this legislative failure and his most recent electoral defeat, Dai Jinhao declared to the crowd that he would be standing down as Lotus Party Leader and as Foreign Minister.

"Indralans handed me my performance review tonight, and it proves that I have led this party with incompetence," Dai said to the outcry of the crowd, "the fault for our failure in this election rests on my shoulders, and I must take complete and total responsibility. In acceptance of the election results, I must now resign from the leadership of our movement and Foreign Minister of His Imperial Majesty's government, effective immediately."

With tears in their eyes, many of the party members begged Dai to stay on. Dai, however, remained poised, smiling and waving to the crowd. The Lotus Party National Committee announced that a leadership election would take place in 4358. Until then, former-Finance Critic Sung Hyo-Rin will serve as interim leader.

Dai's decision to resign from Cabinet puts the governing coalition in jeopardy. With the Conservative Coalition capturing nearly 47% of the seats, the New Dawn-Lotus Party coalition will have to work with either the Social Democrats or the Conservative Coalition to retain power. With Dai's vacancy, the government will have to put forward a cabinet as soon as possible.

Chief Counselor Lü Thanks Dai for Service to Indrala

May 18, 4356
KIAZHOU, JIAOZHI

Reacting to news of Dai Jinhao's departure from the cabinet and his role as the Lotus Party Leader, Chief Counselor Lü Yejun expressed his thanks for Mr. Dai's service to Indrala. "Mr. Dai was an important partner in government and I am glad to have been able to work alongside him in Tian'an. We had our disagreements but we held a common vision for a better Indrala for everyone. It is vital to consider multiple viewpoints and without disagreements there can be no debates or discourse that forge a path to the most effective and popular policy. I wish Mr. Dai all the best in his future pursuits and I hope that he continues to fight for his ideas even if he is outside party leadership."

Government Pushes Bid to Host 4360 Olympics

March 1, 4355
KAIZHOU, JIAOZHI

Led by Lotus Party representatives in government and major corporate leaders, including the CEO of TQ Group, the Grand Assembly unanimously threw its support behind a major bid to host the 4360 Olympics in Kaizhou. The government has now expanded its efforts to support the effort, putting forward a proposal to increase funding for the bid and Chief Counselor Lü has directed the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Education & Culture, and Environment & Tourism to establish a formal committee to organize planning for the Olympics. This committee is to determine plans relating to Kaizhou's hosting of the Olympics and special preparations to highlight Indrala as both an optimal and unique host for the international games. The government has requested that the public also provide input for creative ideas to distinguish an Indralan Olympics, with focus towards traditional culture as well as cutting edge future technology.

As the Kaizhou candidacy continues to build upon its proposal, it has also found endorsement from the FangCaiRyeo Group, which has offered to provide consultancy and direct support in relation to innovative technological features, particularly smart technology and artificial intelligence, that may be featured in the Games or that are sought to be deployed city-wide in preparation for foreign tourists.

Indralan Naval Exercises in North Anantonese Ocean
Image
An Indralan submarine in the arctic regions of the North Anantonese Ocean

January 14, 4355
TIAN'AN, HAN

A not so subtle show of strength against Dankuk, Indralan naval and air force divisions conducted military exercises in the international waters of the arctic regions of the North Anantonese Ocean. Under the direction of Chief Counselor Lü Yejun, the Ministry of Defense has organized the month-long exercise to familiarize the military with conduct in colder conditions and to identify potential deficiencies of Indralan military operations in such conditions. It is no secret that the decision to conduct these exercises in close proximity to Dankuk was a deliberate decision by the Lü Government, which has been very intent on destabilizing the Dranian Government. While little to no information has been available to the public, it is also likely that the Ministry of State Security has been active in covert operations that target Dankuk. Incidents of DDoS attacks targeting Dranian government websites is has been blamed on Indralan hackers but no concrete evidence has yet to prove Indralan involvement in these attacks.

Social Democratic Party Leads Civil Rights Protest
In response to the rise of the Conservative Coalition and its "Sex and Honour Act", the Social Democratic Party has led an Indrala wide protest.
Image
Party Leader Fa Rong stands with a number of other Social Democratic Party members.

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi -- The recent election has seen the rise of the newly founded Conservative Coalition, the successor party to the Indrala's Centre Party. However, this new political body has shown itself to be much further right economically and less supportive of civil rights. Despite this, with the record low electorate turn out the Conservative Coalition gained a massive 303 seats, almost holding a majority on their own. Such surprising results worry to many civil rights activists and minority groups in Indrala. Due to this the Social Democratic Party decided to hold a protest across all of Indrala supporting civil rights.

The event, which had been scheduled to take place on the tenth of January, drew a much larger crowd than expected with thousands attending throughout a number of Indrala's largest cities. One of the most notable ones was right here in Kaizhou, where many Social Democratic Party politicians gathered, including Party Leader Fa Rong, a Kaizhou native. The march was filled with life and energy as people of all difference marched through the city streets to show their support for civil rights in Indrala. Meanwhile, crowds in both Tian'an and Mundawan were just as robust, with members of Indrala's other parties joining as well.

One of the most notable groups at the protests was the LGBT+ community, who had been riled to action by the recent "Sex and Honour Act". This law proposed by the Conservative Coalition, sought to remove the legal rights of transsexuals to change their gender. This understandably created alarm among the community who feared a long step back in their hard fought battle for rights. Li Fan, a member of the LGBT+ community spoke with us:

"It is unconceivable that the Conservative Coalition has put forth such a bill. Not only would it set us back a century in hard fought civil rights, but could also lead to further discrimination of transsexuals. Along with that if this bill is to pass, who knows what else the Conservative Coalition might suggest, perhaps stripping the rights of the rest of the LGBT+ community, or maybe even other minorities like the Kyo or Dinh."

Another group angered by the proposal were more progressive-minded teachers. This was due to an amendment in the bill that allowed students to opt out of sexual education classes. Many educators believe that this won't be good for Indrala's youth, and could lead to ignorance from teens.

"It's better for them to have knowledge of such topics. Many studies show that teens will "experiment" anyway." One teacher commented.

It seems that the "Sex and Honour Act" will not pass through Indrala's legislature; however, as the Social Democratic and Lotus Parties, as well as New Dawn, all signaled that they will vote against the bill. The news has be recieved with celebration across Indrala.

FM Ni Zhihong "deeply disappointed" by Kazulian actions
Image
Foreign Minister Ni

TIAN'AN, Han -- Following a warning from the Kazulian government with regard to a Naval exercise in the North Anatonese Sea two years ago, Foreign Minister Ni Zhihong held a press conference in which she said she was "deeply disappointed" by the Kazulian government.

"It's unfortunate that as relations were continuing to improve between Skalm and Tian'an that the Kazulian government would choose to harbour and protect a tyrannical and despotic regime [referring to Dankuk]," said Ni, "especially one which has been proven to be spying on their own country."

Continuing, Ni said that "the people of Kazulia must recognize the incompetence by which their government has allowed a dangerous regime to spawn on their border, one which has attacked Kazulia and is actively seeking to procure nuclear weapons."

"Kazulia professes to be a great power, and yet their random diplomatic decision-making leaves much to be desired from a nation poised to lead," said Ni, "and it is disappointing that Kazulia seems to be unable to move past their deep-seeded complex with regard to Indrala and our democratic system."

In closing her remarks, Ni said, "as always, the State of Indrala extends its hand of friendship and solidarity to all nations in the world who yearn to live in peace and benefit broadly all of humanity. It's upsetting to see that, perhaps, the Kazulian government does not share those values."

Indrala reaction to the Kazulian statement has been universally negative and melancholic in tone. The large Kunikata diaspora within Indrala maintained very positive views of Kazulia due to their fundamental role in ending the Hulstrian regime which forced them from their homes at the dawn of the century. The diaspora was fundamental in urging Tian'an to resume relations with Skalm. Today however, thousands of Kunikata refugees and their descendants marched in Mudanwan in protest against the Kazulian government.

"We thought that as a nation which stood against tyranny, Kazulia would be a natural partner of Indrala," said 55-year-old Hiromi Takagi, "but now it seems that the Kazulian government doesn't care for the sick and oppressed in Dankuk or anywhere else."

CONSERVATIVES SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON DANKUK RELATIONS
Image

JUNE 4357
TIAN'AN, HAN

When Conservative Coalition leader Chang Bingbing woke up this morning, she didn't expect she'd have to explain Indrala's convoluted relationship with Dankuk to the international community. Ms. Chang has made it clear today that Indrala will not be lectured by Kazulia SESO director on Indrala-Dankuk relations.

Chang Bingbing: "To me, this is crazy. Where in the world do these people get off? Indrala has defined its relationship with Dankuk off the basis of its tyrannical regime. The government of Dankuk has made choices - choices that have compromised our ability to do business with them. I'll get one less hour of sleep for every instance where a member of the international community tries to dictate how Indrala should conduct business with Dankuk. Has any other nation had to deal with such a regime as that of Taeyang Sang-ah? Where they see it fit to award one of our countries prostitutes with a medallion of heroism and construct statues honouring her? Absolutely vile. Perhaps Dankuk should consider kidnapping Mr. Westergaard and show him how great their nation is. We certainly wouldn't oppose such an action, despite Mr. Westergaard suggesting we are reckless and incompetent."

Government Investigating Alleged Kidnapping of Yingpop Star
Image
Police examining the apartment of the missing Yingpop star

October 3, 4357
TIAN'AN, HAN

A Yingpop star recently reported missing has apparently shown up in performances of a Dranian propaganda band, the Pyeonghae Music Group. Law enforcement and family of the Indralan musician have struggled to find leads in the disappearance of the pop star but claims are now being made that she defected to Dankuk to support development of Kyo-pop propaganda. However these reports of defection have only come from state media in Dankuk and there is little evidence to suggest the Yingpop star had any interests or intentions that would indicate potential relocation to Dankuk.

Investigators are looking at the case as a possible kidnapping and Chief Counselor Lü Yejun has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Justice & Public Safety to look into the matter and determine how the Yingpop star can be returned if the Dranians are indeed responsible for an unwilling abduction. The Ministry of State Security is also investigating the issue to uncover how Dankuk was able to exact the pop star from Indrala.

Lotus Party Leader to Dankuk: "Bring our girls home!"
Ministry of Justice analysis confirms that Dankuk kidnapped two Yingpop stars last week
Image
Lotus Party Interim Leader Sung Hyo-rin speaks directly to the Dranian regime

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi -- Following initial investigation, the National Police Agency has concluded that the Yingpop stars reported missing last week were in fact kidnapped by the Dranian Nine Tail Agency. The two celebrities were also revealed to be actress He Bolin and singer Cheng Feiyu (commonly known as 'Lisa', one-fourth of the girl group "TRAX"). Since their kidnappings, He Bolin has been filming a propaganda movie, while Lisa has been forced into a music group known as the Pyeonghae Music Group, according to state media in Dankuk. Minister of Justice Zhou Huiyi, who held the briefing, was asked about a number of reported raids on residences in Tian'an and Kaizhou over the weekend, but would not offer comment.

Speaking to media outside the Grand Assembly after the Minister of Justice, Lotus Party Leader Sung Hyo-rin also made a statement. Sung, herself a second-generation Kyo refugee from Dankuk, remained stoic and firm as she began her statement:
To the cowardly regime of Dankuk: Bring our girls home.

She also issued a firm warning to Dranian agents and a commitment to Ms. He and Ms. Cheng:
So long as our party is a member of this government, we will authorize the Ministry of State Security to utilize every resource it has to secure and rescue He Bolin and Lisa. We will make available all resources necessary to cripple and maim this perverse and repulsive regime. The Nine Tail Agency, which has attacked both Kazulia and now our own nation, must be countered and ultimately destroyed. All Dranian agents operating in Indrala or in the territory of our allies will be found, they will be caught, or they too will be destroyed.

Speaking directly to the Dranians, Sung said:
Every minute spent plotting against the free and democratic State of Indrala is an hour subtracted from the life of your illegitimate regime. Every time you attack our country, we will meet your threat with strength and force, the likes of which you could not possibly imagine. When your agents abduct two of our girls, we will return them to their families. When you slaughter your own citizens, we will rescue them as well, as we have for nearly half a century.

In concluding her remarks, the party leader said:
This attack on Indrala will not soon be forgotten. It will never be forgiven.
