President Chin's spokesperson, Tang Yi, commented at a press conference and stated that the charges were "bogus" and that the former president will "seek an appeal" from the Supreme Court. However, the charges filed are not bogus. In the amicus briefs filed at the court and the documents found during the discovery period, files, photos and voice recordings were found in the Presidential Palace, the homes of those charged as well as in emails, text messages, phone calls, and social media. Special Prosecutor Qiu told the court that more evidence could have been found if it weren't for President Chin acid washing computer servers and documents as shown in the video file with the court of him doing just that.
NLP Chairwoman Hai Hui Yaling told the press that former President Chin and former Chairman Chen "does not represent" the NLP. She even went a step further proclaiming that the 4858 primary election is a prime example of the NLP's dissatisfaction of President Chin and Chairman Chen and that her win is also a prime example. Former Prime Minister and current Opposition Leader Fu Yu Jun told press that he was never involved in those schemes nor did he have any knowledge thereof. Prosecutors investigating Leader Fu stated that no evidence was found of the former Prime Minister's involvement. Whether he had the knowledge or not was not investigated and was ruled out.
