KCMA announces 'Landscapes of Indrala' exhibit

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi Province: The Kaizhou City Museum of Art is to open a new exhibit later this month, which will highlight the rich history of landscape paintings within Indrala. While it will draw on inspirations and art styles from across the nation, the exhibition's two biggest attractions will be distinctively Jiaozhi.

In fact, the two pieces, which are approximately worth over 5 million together, were lent by the Kaizhou Cheng Clan. The two works are 'Spring Mist Over Tan Hua Palace' by Zheng Cai and 'Twelve Hidden Peaks' by Cheng Xiuying.

The museum is still looking for more artwork; however, and are said to be working with the Indralan National Gallery of Art to hopefully obtain Lady Feihung's 'Hills of Shu 2'. Along with the paintings, the special gallery will reportedly contain a traditional Indralan garden with real plant life, as well as a number of other unannounced features.

Kaizhou, Jiaozhi Province: After dating for over three years, through attacks, drama, and estrangement, Cheng Yu, of the Cheng Clan, and Yingpop star Mo Xiang have finally tied the knot, during a ceremony which occurred today within Mei Cheng Palace.

This location may come as a surprise to some reader, who might remember past family drama between the Chengs and Yu, but it seems as if everything has been smoothed over between the clan's members. The reconciliation may have been helped by the late death of Cheng Guo, who while the former patriarch, is believed to have been a conservative voice within the clan.

While, they have returned to good terms, the newly weds will not be living in one of the clan's three Jiaozhi Palaces, but will instead continue to live at their penthouse apartment in downtown Kaizhou, according to someone close to the couple; they requested to remain anonymous. The pair will also reportedly have their honeymoon in Lourenne.

With such a famous gay couple now gracing the mainstream, there can hopefully be an improvement in the treatment of LGBT persons within Indrala.

IAF troops move into new North Dovani HQ in Dankuk

NATIONAL: Indrala has dispatched thousands of troops to the brand new North Dovani Command HQ in Dankuk, the nation's first overseas military base to be built in decades. Combined with the former Vanukean military stations in Loren Province, this is also the IAF's largest international base.

Built over four years at a cost of nearly $8 billion, the new IAF NDCHQ will house around 11,000 military personnel. The base's primary mandate is to engage in anti-piracy efforts in the North Anantonese Ocean as well as provide training opportunities for Dranian, Indralan and other allied armed forces.

“In opening a new Imperial forces headquarters in Dankuk, I hope that our bilateral partnership will develop beyond a ‘military alliance’ and a ‘comprehensive alliance’ and become a ‘great alliance,’” Chief Minister Wei Jianxing said in the statement.

Indralan and Dranian Marines conclude cooperative cold-terrain training
20 April 4469

NATIONAL: Indralan and Dranian Marines have completed a three-week-long winter training drill in the mountains near the IAF Military Base in Loren Province. More than 4,000 soldiers have taking part in the drill, which aimed to train both militaries to be able to fight at temperatures as low as minus -30°C.

“Both the Indralan marines and the Dranian marines have covered over-the-snow ability. We’ve covered reconnaissance skills as well as critical combat skills in a cold weather mountainous environment,” said IAF North Dovani Commander Gao Bohan in a press conference.

"Throughout training we’ve increased both of our war fighting capabilities as well as creating lasting friendships which our soldiers will take back with them to Indrala,” he added.

Soldiers also took part in hand-to-hand combat and skiing, with a major emphasis placed on team building of marines on both sides. One of the most publicized activities during the drill were the bouts of outdoor martial combat between Indralan and Dranian marines. While Indralan marines must receive a black belt in Guidao Quan martial arts, Dranian marines must receive a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. The match-up proved an interesting clash of Gao-Showan fighting styles, as well as a learning opportunity for both sides.

Xiandai and Indralan Aerospace presents two new fighter jets

The new IA-20 jet

TIAN'AN, Han Province: After nearly 17 years in joint-development, Xiandai Defence Industries and Indralan Aerospace have unveiled their multirole IA-20 fighter jet. Observers have noted strong design influences from the Kazulian HF-15 fighter and Vanukean Z-35, with many of the components derived from foreign licensed material. Thus, the announcement has left much to be desired from a defence sector which is trying to build a self-sufficient production base within the nation. Nonetheless, the IA-20 has received mostly positive reviews from military officials and industry critics, who have praised its aerodynamic performance, nimble controls and multipurpose capabilities.

In addition to the IA-20, the two aerospace giants presented a pre-production light combat and training aircraft known as the IA-30, which they plan to put into full-scale production by summer of 4474. The two supersonic fighters are the only domestically-produced craft of their respective classes, and as such are expected to receive extensive attention from the Imperial Armed Forces. Accordingly, the share prices of Xiandai Group (TSX: XIA) and Indralan Aerospace (TSX: IAS) gained value before trading closed today.

"Today, a new era of self-reliance and self-defence dawns over the island of Indrala," said Xiandai CEO Wang Huanyu. "This is only the beginning."

Xiandai has produced a fighter jet before, the I-20, though its prohibitively high cost (at over $260m per unit) prevented the wide scale adoption of stealth fighter by the Imperial Air Force. In the end, only ten I-20 jets were ever manufactured before the project was scrapped altogether. This time, Xiandai and Indralan Aerospace have ensured that their project remains far more cost effective, with the IA-20 projected to have a cost of around $20m per unit, while the IA-30 will have a cost of approximately $19m.

Over half of Indrala's caizu conglomerate heirs marry within the caizu community, survey
20 April 4472

NATIONWIDE: A new survey conducted by the Tian'an National University School of Business has found that over half of the heirs of caizu families married partners from within the caizu community. Meanwhile, marriages into political or noble families accounted for only 7.4%, a one-third reduction from their parents’ generation.

The survey looked at the marriages of family members in the top 100 Indralan conglomerates headed by a single figure (including divorces and second marriages), finding that pairings between individuals within the corporate world accounted for almost half of all marriages in both the first and second generations of caizu families. The figures for the first and second generations were 49.3% and 52.5% respectively.

It was discovered that Xiandai had in-law relations with seven other caizu groups, the highest number among the caizu companies surveyed, while FCR Group, TQ Group, Royal Airlines, Qingyi Group, Tiankong, KM Financial and others had less, though still high levels of in-law relations.

Marriages between caizu families and ‘powerful’ political or noble families reduced by a third between the first and second generations. The figure was 23.4% for the first generation, but only 7.4% for the second generation. It appears that the gradual erosion of cozy, and sometimes corrupt, relations between politics and business during the administration of Shi Yiguang and later Wei Jianxing has also loosened the marital bonds that held these families together.

Meanwhile, the proportion of marriages between those in the corporate world and members of the general public doubled between the two generations, rising from 12.7% to 23.5%.

↳ Indrala's overall agricultural production increased by 4.4% in 4472 compared to 4471. According to the Agro-Alliance, much of the heightened productivity in the agricultural sector is due to land reform and wage measures taken by Wei Jianxing's government.

5.8 million citizens flood the public squares of Tian'an in mourning

NATIONAL NEWS: Sorrow befalls the nation, and indeed the world, as the Jianxiao Emperor departs for the Jade Palace of Shangdi. In a massive outpouring of grief, tens of millions of Indralans across the nation have taken to wailing in the streets, rivalling only the Tianshun Emperor's departure. The Imperial Household Agency has said that the Emperor's health had suddenly declined last year and his departure was anticipated by those within the Imperial Clan.

On his death bed, the Jianxiao Emperor said to his son, "the premier regret of my life is that I did not do enough for the people. Please commit yourself to the people, take their concerns as your own concerns, make their pain your pain. It is my final decree."

Subsequently, the Jianxiao Emperor departed and had a black pearl placed in his mouth on 2 March 4470. His son was summarily taken to the Hall of Supreme Harmony wherein he was coronated as the Tianxing Emperor of Indrala. May His Imperial Majesty the Emperor live and reign for ten thousand years! His Imperial Majesty's first command was to decree a three-year mourning period to be observed within the Heavenly City and by the Imperial Clan, as is the Jienist custom.

Meanwhile, the Departed Emperor's body was dressed and treated according to regulations outlined in the Book of Rites, before he was taken from the Heavenly City to the Yu Dynasty Tombs 40km outside of Tian'an. His funeral procession was flanked by at least 5.8 million Indralan citizens who wailed relentlessly out of sorrow. As the funeral procession passed the Chief Minister's residence, His Excellency Chief Minister Wei Jianxing, his wife and daughter prostrated toward the Departed Emperor, visibly emotional. The Chief Minister ordered all flags across the nation to be flown at half-mast for three months.

At His Imperial Majesty's burial, the Empress-Dowager was seen in a wheelchair, observably ill over the loss of her husband. The Departed Emperor's body was interred according to Jienist and Guidao customs. His Imperial Majesty, the Tianxing Emperor entered the Hall of Ancestors and conferred upon the Departed Emperor the appellation "the Great." Thus, the Jianxiao Emperor shall be referred to posthumously as Emperor Jianlong the Great.

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi Province: The government-owned Lanshui Shipyard is seeking private defence contractors and shipbuilders to partner with in developing Indrala's future naval fleet, according to Lanshui CEO Fu Yuanhui.

Indrala's commercial shipbuilding industry is one of the world's largest, with domestic shipyard orders totalling nearly twenty-million gross tons. To that end, the Ministry of Defence and Lanshui are hoping to tap into the vast knowledge and experience of the private commercial industry in developing future warships. Primarily, Lanshui is said to be in discussions with the country's three largest private shipbuilders, Xiandai Heavy Industries, TQ Heavy Industry and Construction, and Qingyi Group.

The Ministry of Defence has disclosed that they are prepared to utilize funding for any development projects through the IAFI Modernization Program to fulfil the government's long-term ambition of becoming a blue-water navy once again.

Chief Minister Wei vows to reduce agricultural regulation
Despite legislative failures, Wei promised farmers that "Tian'an overreach" will come to an end

Chief Minister Wei (far right) speaks to a group of farmers in Min Province

Rural Min Province: Despite legislative setbacks, the Chief Minister vowed to continue to fight "for farmers' rights," against a "Tian'an-centred" Grand Assembly. Speaking to farmers across Min Province today, the Chief Minister attacked the opposition parties for continually voting against his agricultural deregulation legislation.

"Frankly, the opposition is very weak, and they don't give a damn about you," said the Chief Minister. "The Pragmatists are the party of obstruction, having not once proposed a single piece of legislation. The only thing they're known for is trying to sue me for speaking with you, the working people of this nation, and yet they still haven't left Tian'an to hear your concerns. Meanwhile, the SDP pretends to care about you, but they spend all their time in the boardrooms of Kaizhou."

"We're going to reduce the red tape," the Chief Minister said to applause. "We're going to make sure that you can grow our food without having to go through pages of Tian'an lawyer nonsense."

The Chief Minister is remarkably popular among farmers, labourers and members of the working-class due to his strong organized labour ties and aggressive pursuit of economic growth. His populist and anti-establishment message has also gained traction widely across these sorts of demographics. In sum, Wei Jianxing's voter coalition is more decidedly rural than the Lotus Party's support base has ever traditionally been.

Inspecting a rice farm south of Mudanwan, farmers thanked the Chief Minister for his resolute committment to lowering the minimum wage. Prior to the passage of LP-324, farmers across the nation were required to pay employees, and even their own children a wage at a level which could support a family of four. Now, with lower wages, farmers in this region claim that they have been able to hire more workers while increasing their productivity.

"Thank you sir, thanks to you my family can get by," 56-year-old rice farmer Mr. Fang cried out while emotionally embracing the Chief Minister. "No, no, it's thanks to you! It's your hard work that supports your family, not me," The Chief Minister replied. "Our government is about ensuring that the dignity of work is finally respected; not just the work done by highly-educated urban elites, but the work that you do which keeps our country fed."

Before leaving the village, the Chief Minister asked the people for their support in the 4475 election. "There is a lot at stake in this election," said Wei Jianxing. "We can't let Tian'an be taken over by the elitist and ineffectual Pragmatists, nor the incompetent Social Democrats. We need to keep Tian'an working for you!"

Progress Party gaining traction, says it represents the "unrepresented"

Cai Bao, Leader of the Progress Party.

TIAN'AN, Han Province: With the General Election coming up this March, Indrala waits to see how the balance of power will shift. With the introduction of a new, left-wing political party, the socialist current of Indrala long shunned from the political scene has returned with a vengeance.

Cai Bao, a long time lawyer and activist, founded the Progress Party along with other likeminded individuals back in July 4472, and since then the popularity of the party has only grown, drawing support from the left faction of the Social Democrats. These defectors, long tired of the party's move towards centrism, want a party that truly challenges the established order. These hardliners have now been joined by increasing numbers of students and academics, who aren't afraid to use the name of Ruan positively.

"Regardless of his dictatorial tendencies, the father of our nation's love for the poor and exploited is without question". These are the words of Xing Mei, a young student activist who recently joined Progress after becoming disenfranchised by the "end of the traditional left". The need for a new party which represents the resurgent socialist republican movement seems to be at the forefront of the parties base of newcomers.

Whether or not these views are popular with the general population is a different question however. The established neoliberal order of Lotus and the SDP are heavily entrenched both monetarily and in terms of general support structures. In order to break this trend Progress is going to have to gain a substantial popular base for funds, something that it currently continues to lack regardless of the passion and generosity displayed by its most hardcore supporters. Only the election will tell how successful the new left in Indrala will be, or whether it will return to a state of apathy following the formation of the new government.

Chief Minister declares victory in 4475 General Election

Chief Minister Wei Jianxing entering within the Grand Assembly

NATIONWIDE: Chief Minister Wei Jianxing and his Lotus Party caucus have been returned to the Grand Assembly as the largest party, winning a plurality of votes in every province except for Han Province, where the Lotus Party placed second behind the Pragmatic Party.

The Chief Minister's first action after the General Election was to reintroduce his agricultural and social deregulation legislation which was largely projected to fail prior to the election. At the Lotus Party's election night headquarters, Wei aggressively vowed to defend the interests of the working class.

"We're going to fight like hell for you," Wei said to the cheers of the crowd. "It will take a bullet in the head to stop us. We will establish social justice for the workers and farmers, for the teachers and doctors, and for the students and dreamers of this country!"

While the Chief Minister's party remains the largest party in the Grand Assembly, it did suffer some losses to the emergent Pragmatic and Progress parties. Nonetheless, Wei's party is expected to maintain its minority government status due to the precarious nature of the Grand Assembly. Wei addressed the losses as well during his election night speech.

"Believe me, there is no one more fed up with the establishment than I am," Wei said. "So I understand wanting to vote for a new party, but let's compare records: the Pragmatists haven't put forward a single piece of legislation, while the Progress Party's only proposal to date was to destroy the universal single-payer healthcare system of this nation. These aren't good policies for moving Indrala forward, and advancing the lives of everyday folks like you."

The Chief Minister also lauded the success of the IAFI Modernization Program, which the Lotus Party has presided over since the administration of Shi Yiguang in 4451.

"We are rebuilding our Imperial Armed Forces bigger and stronger than ever before," declared Wei. "We are building and acquiring the best and most powerful ships, tanks and airplanes the world has ever known."

It is expected that the Chief Minister will also be introducing legislation in the coming months to increase military funding, as the IAFI Modernization Program has reduced from $40b to $20b over the years due to arms development and acquisitions. The government has projected that fully modernizing and expanding the naval capacity of Indrala to become a blue water navy will cost $20b at minimum.
