NEW CENTURY - NEW MISERY FOR GAO-SHOWANS IN HULSTRIA


The year 4300 has not been celebrated by many in the Hulstrian Gao-Showan community.

The turn of the year triggered a complete ban on the use of the Hulstro-Mikun Language - both spoken and written - in the Crownlands after the Reichskanzler branded it 'a bastardised and corrput language that must be wiped from history'.

Then a few days into January, the government announced that due to the economic impact of various trade embargoes and naval blockades by the Hutori and Istalian fleets, more stringent rationing was been introduced for Class C citizens. Meat and fresh vegetables were in short supply for the Class C - mainly Gao-Showan - people, and bread was heavily rationed to one loaf to every two weeks per household.

In a TV announcement, Reichskanzler Leopold Nimitz told people affected to dig up their gardens and turn them into vegetable patches. He said: 'We are all suffering from the Imperialist oppression of our way of life. The Party is doing everything we can to ensure your liberty but everyone must take action to aid the nation."

SECURITY LINK UP WITH HYPERION AND DEFENSIVE PACT WITH VANUKU

Following discussions with the Hyperion Corporation, Cyphrus Security personnel are being drafted into southern Hulstria and Ostland to help Imperial Crownland troops maintain stability in the plague-ravaged area.

Hyperion already a permanent presence in the troubled third world island nation of Dalibor are extending their influence on the continent of Dovani as a result of the link up.

Commander of Hulstrian Armed Forces in Ostland, Lieutenant-General Maximilian Strauber, said: "We welcome the arrival of Cyphrus Security in the protectorate. They are seasoned fighting individuals who are adept at dealing with Gao-Showan populations and providing effective security."

Meanwhile, Reicskanzler Leopold Nimitz has declared a State of Emergency in Hulstria following the outbreak of the plague and a night time curfew. He has also imposed travel bans into and out of the country in an attempt to stop the spread.

He said: "We can regrettably confirm that the plague is now affecting our communities in the south and east of the country and it is proving difficult to contain the spread. These are mainly Class C citizens but it is not exclusive to that ethnic grouping, which is concerning. We must now close our borders and attempt to stop an influx of foreigns both from the developed and third world bringing the disease in from other avenues."

In other news, Herr Nimitz hailed the groundbreaking defence pact signed with Vanuku, one of the world great economic and military powers, as a guarantee of independence.

He said: "Elements of the world community, spurred on by the most abhorrent and erroneous propaganda, are lining up to invade our nation and our protectorate Ostland.

"However, after lengthy consultation with the Foreign Ministry of Vanuku we have agreed with that nation to sign a mutual defence pact, which means that if an attack is made on Hulstria, Vanuku will defend us.

"This treaty will ensure our sovereignty and the continuation of the Hulstrian-led culture of our nation for many, many years."

PEACEFUL PROTESTS LEAD TO VIOLENCE-COMMUNISTS INCITE PUBLIC TO RIOT-POLICE DEPLOYED


The Communist Party Of Hulstria have struck their first blow today, infecting a peaceful protest with the disease of communist thought. What started as a peaceful protest in the streets of Karstadt quickly degenerated as Communist agitators joined and quickly incited the protesters to violently move into the road, standing and sitting, blocking traffic. Luckily, patriotic motorists, appalled by the growing communist violence, called in the Police, who began attempting to subdue and arrest the vile Communists, allowing the general protest to return to peaceful banner waving.

However, the Communists influence had spread too quickly and several members of the public began to resist arrest, leading to police present to carrying out justified mass violence, using water cannons and rubber bullets valiantly against the enemy of us all. But the Communists are slippery rats, and all attempts to arrest them or stop their continued advance proved futile.

Eventually, the Military Police were required to enter the fray, quickly fire warning shots at the crowd to initalise an end to the communist advance. Several police were severely injured, with many facing bruises to the arms and chest, and over 200 Communist scum were arrested. Reichskanzler Leopold Nimitz, commenting on the commotion said;

If this event does not prove the seriousness of the Communist mental disease and its risks to the general public, I don't know what could. It is time for the state to take drastic action, which is why I have proposed the following; 'Communism and Mental Health Detainment Act', to root out and remove from society all people afflicted with the Communist blight.

Communists - or people deemed to be showing signs of communist thinking - could soon be detained under a new mental health act being introduced into Hulstria.

The ruling Hulstrian Party has decided to build on current laws, which prohibit the formation of communist parties and organisations, by clamping down on individuals too. It follows underground communist-led riots in the streets of Karstadt.

Under the Communism and Mental Health Detainment Act, people of all ages will come under scrutiny. Those deemed by the state to be 'communists' may be taken to institutions to pro-actively protect them from themselves and to protect other members of society.

However, some critics have said it is just another attempt by the ruling party to silence political opponents of all ideologies.

Outlining plans for the new law, Herr Nimitz said: "It is our intention to detain indefinitely any who are showing communist traits under new mental health laws before they become a threat to themselves or society. People will start to be monitored at school by their teachers, at work by their line managers and also scrutinised in other areas of their lives to ensure that they are not embracing communism.

"It is statistically proven that certain groups within society are more prone to this way of thinking and therefore will be monitored more closely for their own - and society's - own good.

"They include certain groups of Gao-Showan ethnics, homosexuals, atheists and people with Malivian ancestry."

One underground opponent said: "Because the new law is purposely ambiguous, If the party doesn't like someone they can call them a communist regardless of their actual opinions and have them detained without the need for any formal charges. It is another blow for any kind of free speech in Hulstria and another attempt by the party to hold onto power indefinitely ."

HULSTRIA GIVES WORLD CONGRESS HUMANITARIAN TEAM PERMISSION TO ENTER OSTLAND

Hulstrian Reichskanzler Leopold Nimitz has announced he is now ready to allow the World Congress' Humanitarian Mission to enter Ostland.

He said Imperial Crownland troops were set to escort medics and other members of the international team around the plague-ravaged country. They will be able to administer medical care including vaccines that have been developed by numerous countries and have, so far, been successfully tested and administered.

Herr Nimitz said: "The time has come to allow in the WCHM. Before this point it was not possible and a policy of containment was needed to help stop the spread of the disease. But with the development of a successful series of vaccines we can open the borders and allow in the international community to provide help.

"Our security forces will be on hand to escort the World Congress personnel so they are able to rapidly access the areas of most need and to ensure they stay safe as they move around Ostland.

"I can also confirm that vaccines already shipped to Hulstria are having a positive effect and making a difference and we thank the international community for providing them.

"Our delegation at the World Congress now stands by to liaise with the Security Council to facilitate the mission."

SUBSTANTIAL REWARD OFFERED TO TRACK DOWN 'HEINOUS VILLAIN' COMRADE X


Armed police arrest a suspected member of the underground communist movement as the hunt for Comrade X begins.

A reward is being offered by the government to help capture the notorious leader of the underground communist movement in Hulstria - Comrade X.

The mysterious figure's comments, aimed at inciting people to rise up and establish a people's state, have incensed Reichskanzler Leopold Nimitz who has vowed to bring him to justice.

To assist in this process, Herr Nimitz has called on all citizens to come forward with knowledge about Comrade X. Information leading to his capture and arrest will be handsomely rewarded.

Herr Nimitz said: "Comrade X's latest seditious comments - an attempt to create unrest and rioting and undermine our authority - are the final straw.

"We are, therefore, asking all citizens within the country to help in the tracking down of this heinous villain. A reward of 100,000 Imperial Crowns is being offered to any person or persons who provide us with information that will lead to the identifying, whereabouts and subsequent arrest of Comrade X.

"As a further incentive, any citizen who comes forward with this information will be immediately elevated to Class A Citizenship - along with their close family - regardless of their ethnic background and beliefs, and be exempt from the rationing programme currently in force to offset sanctions on our country."

Physical and Mental Wellbeing Clubs

Meanwhile, the government has launched its new physical and mental health wellbeing initiative. As well as making Hosian prayers mandatory in schools at the start of each day, a range of state-run 'sports clubs' are to be established for the betterment of all people.

Herr Nimitz revealed: "The clubs shall come under the banner of The Imperial Hulstrian Sports Academy and Wellbeing Institution.

"As well as instruction in physical education, people will receive further mental health and betterment courses pertaining to why support of the party is expected, why the royal family and the nobility is essential, why the Hosian religion is the true religion of patriotic Hulstrians and why the continued monitoring of people to find communists and discover seditious thinking is needed.

"Class C citizens will be provided with their own, segregated facilities based on their inferior physical and mental capacity."
