The Ministry of Defense has recently, in a bid to reinforce its military policy of foreign intervention and deployment, has formed two brigades dedicated to expeditionary combat. The two brigades, named the 1st and 2nd Royal Expeditionary Brigades respectively, are going to be used in expeditionary combat roles, mainly those serving the nations and actions of the Three Mountains Agreement. However, according to the Ministry of Defense, these brigades won’t be used in extreme conditions but rather in standard combat conditions, similar to those faced by a majority of the Hulstrian Armed Forces.

The 1st and 2nd Battalions are both made up of around 116 Main Battle Tanks, 56 Infantry Fighting Vehicles, 76 Armored Personnel Carriers, and made up of 3,000 infantry.

The 1st and 2nd Royal Expeditionary Battalions will begin operations immediately and have been trained to be deployed in only 3 weeks from an initial deployment order. Both battalions are under the direct oversight of the Expeditionary and Foreign Deployment Department of the Ministry of Defense. The EFDD was formed only 3 years ago in an attempt to fulfill obligations to Hulstria’s allies, the main one being mutual defense.

No current foreign deployment have been ordered. However, both battalions will begin advanced training concerning issues of deployment and of combat strength.

Three Mountains Agreement Conducts Mountain Warfare Exercise

The mountains of Hilgar rarely, if ever, see this much foot traffic along there beaten and dirt paths. However, these travelers are not here to hike or for the spectacular views. They are soldiers belonging to the nations of the Three Mountains Agreement, comprised of the nations of Lourenne, Kazulia, and Hulstria. They are here to train for mountain warfare, one of the hardest types of warfare for a modern army to prepare for. Mountain warfare involves the dislodging of combatants from mountainous areas, via the usage of infantry and air support.

The exercise began when Hulstrian and Lourennese forces marched up Mt. Friedrich to set up an advanced reconnaissance center. Afterwards, Hulstrian and Lourennese forces marched towards simulated enemy forces. Hulstrian and Lourennese forces where held down temporarily due to enemy fire, until close air support was able to dislodge said enemies. Later on, both Hulstrian and Lourennese where able to reconnect with Kazulian forces, who had encircled several enemy brigades.

Once meeting up, all three nations forces focused on the defeat-in-detail of each encircled enemy brigade. With assistance from close air support and the use of special forces, the enemy brigades where all defeated without incident.

Hulstrian Minister of Defense Johannes Gräbner called the exercises “a great success for the Three Mountains Agreement”. He also stated that Hulstria would happily host more exercises in the future.

Government Announces Formation of Joint Kazulian-Hulstrian Brigade

In a recent joint announcement, both the Hulstrian and Kazulian Ministry’s of Defense have announced the formation of a jointly owned military unit. This military unit, known as the Kazulian-Hulstrian Brigade, will be led by two Brigadier Generals. These Brigadiers Generals are Gjermund Brekken (Kazulian) and Ekkehard Mensing (Hulstrian) respectively. Each Brigadier General is responsible for the entire Brigades actions and, therefore, each Brigadier General must coordinate with each other before making a decision concerning the entire Brigade. Both Generals, each having served 10 years in there respective militaries, know both Hulstrian and Kazulian, as to allow for them to communicate to there men, regardless of nationality.

Hulstrian Minister of Defense Johannes Gräbner called the joint Brigade a “display of unified defense and the intertwined relationship between Hulstria and Kazulia”. Later he added that “we are like brothers, we shall defend each other, regardless of the price”.

The Hulstrian-Kazulian Brigade will be held in reserve temporarily until being deployed at a future date.

Hulstria Plans to Build Extensive Rail System from Hilgar to Kazulia

3 major Hulstrian Railroads have joined together to start a bilateral project that would connect Hilgar to Kazulia by rail. The line would start in the mountians of Hilgar near the towns of Sizu, Hikuu-yuu, and Umi-basi which are heavy coal towns. The trains will then travel north through edge of the Great Dovani Plains and into the Barrier Mountains. The railroad will trek through the mountains and cross them at a tunnel which will be drilled through the mountains near Mount Schnee-Berge.

Once past the mountains the railroad will continue north to and split near the city of Phfathzburg and either continue towards Kien or go straight to the Kazulian frontier.

CEO of the new Barrier Mountains and Eastward Railroad Rudolph Vanderheim was interviewed by the Chronicle 3 days after the announcement saying

Interviewer- What will this provide to Hulstrian and potentially Kazulian buisnesses?

Vanderheim-This will provide Hulstrian and Kazulian companies with so many benefits. We are working hard with Kazulian officials to make sure that this turns into a smooth system of transportation for both Hulstrian good and Kazulian goods. If feel that railroads are the future of Hulstria and that this will be a great leap forward in economic progress. More than ever before it is important that Hulstrian business keeps great trade relations and Kazulia has been a great trade partner.

Interviewer- Could we see an expansion into Ostland and maybe Western Hulstria?

Vanderheim- If is too early to tell how well this system will work. Do I feel that it would be a possibility yes, do I think it is practical, I am not sure. Lets get this project done first and then we can begin looking at expanding.

Interviewer- Could we see passenger service on this line?

Vanderheim- I am not ruling this option out, I dont think any of the railroads are going to not consider this but I feel that it will be hard to compete with current Airlines and other means of transportation. First things first lets get it built and then we will see.

Already the 3 major railroads the Western Dovani Iron and Steel Railroad, the Eastern Hulstrian RR and the Barrier and Eastward will provide the majority of funds to create the rail line. The Hulstrian government will also pitch in but will not be taking direct action in the railroads creation of operation. The Railroad will also connect many seperate short line railroads that ship specific materials such as timber and coal and iron around certain areas. Also in major cities large freight depots will be created and mail will also be transported from Kien in special mail cars. The project will start in February of 4700 and be finished around July of 4705. The tunnels will be started at the same time as the railroad and will be finished before the railroad is finished. This is a huge step forward in Hulstrian infrastructure and open a whole new door of opportunities for Hultrian-Kazulian and beyond.

Ministry of Finance Announces New Anti-Trust Regulations, Promises “Swift and Harsh” Enforcement

Earlier today, the Ministry of Finance made an announcement that could possibly shake the entire nation’s economy. The Ministry of Finance announced that they have recently finished implementing a new series of anti-trust regulations, which would give the Finance Ministry the right to break up any company that surpasses 40% market share in a specific sector. These regulations come in the wake of reported stifling of small and foreign businesses due to monopolization of the technology and other industries.

The Minister of Finance, Verona Riedel, announced the anti-trust regulations during a major financial conference in Kien. The Minister stated that:

These reforms will help better the economic abilities of the nation. We refuse to let monopolies take over this nation, as monopolization will lead to not only a weak economy but a weak nation.

Ministry of Finance Introduces New Fair and Free Trade Regulations, Promises to Boost Economic Growth Via New Regulations

The Ministry of Finance has recently introduced a new series of regulations regarding fair trade and free trade. The Ministry of Finance made the announcement following issues surrounding “possible issues regarding financial rights of the people of Hulstria”. The regulations include the introduction of a base price for all internationally and domestically sold crops (which vary based on the type of crop), the abolishment of all standing tariffs, and the reduction of border security and checks on the Kazulian-Hulstria border.

Minister of Finance, Verona Riede, promised to “enforce fair and free trade laws and regulations”. She stated, in a press conference at the Federal Finance Exchange, that:

These issues need to be dealt with immediately and swiftly, to guarantee that our people’s economic abilities are not hindered by strict border controls and other free trade areas

Minister of Internal Affairs, Yamashina Horiuch, has also promised to reduce border restrictions with Kazulia, stating that the potential for complete opening of borders existed. However, according to Horiuch, the border will be unrestricted for commercial transport between Kazulia and Hulstria. She also stated that the potential for even further integration exists, but will “occur in the future”.

Protests Erupt in Gao-Soto as Government Passed “Hulstrianization” Laws

Protests have erupted across the mostly Sekowan/Kunihito/Showan Crownlands of Kuratha and Hilgar, who make up Gao-Soto. These protests are a reaction to the government in Kien recently passing “Hulstrianization” laws. These laws would make Dundorfian the only language allowed to be spoken in federal and local government and would ban the Kunihito language from being used or taught in most public institutions.

These laws, proposed by the SDP and passed with near unilateral support, have caused outrage in Gao-Soto. Protests have erupted in response to the laws that some Gao-Sotoans are calling the “Extermination” Laws. Large protests are occurring throughout Gao-Soto and smaller protests are occurring in Kien and other large cities. Protesters are demanding that the government repeal the Hulstrianization Act and recognizes the “sovereignty and right of our people’s language and culture”.

Some protests have erupted into violence, following increased police presence. It is currently being reported that a small riot is occurring in Anderich, which has forced the mayor to request the Federal Government declare marshal law throughout Gao-Soto. At the Imperial Diet, Anderich Mayor Holger Heinecke demanded the federal government declare marshal law and send in the armed forces. In his speech he stated that:

Whilst I disagree with the legislation that was passed here, violence is no way to respond to it. People are dying on the streets due to political partisanship and we must end this chaos before it gets out of hand.

The Minister of Internal Affairs refused to comment on the issue.

Ministry of Finance Announces Trade Embargo on Kalistan

Following allegations by the Lourennais Ministry of Defense that Kalistani pirates had attacked Lourennais shipping in the Ananto Strait, the Hulstrian Ministry of Finance has announced it will impose sanctions upon Kalistan, banning the import of all Kalistani products into Hulstria.

The Ministry of Finance announced the implementation of sanctions in an emergency press event, held just hours after the decision was made. The Minister of Finance Ekkehard Kaulen called the move “necessary for national defense”. This move comes just days after Lourennais ships where alleged attacked by pirates in the Ananto Strait, which Kalistan claims is it sovereign waters.

The Ministry of Finance has also withdrawn all financial investment into Kalistan and will formally ban any financial institution from investing into Kalistani companies or into the nation itself. According to Ekkehard Kaulen this ban will:

Make Kalistan realize that it cannot attack and ally of us without repercussions. Our people and our trade are under threat by Kalistan and we will ensure both our people’s safety and the safety of our merchant vessels. This includes, if necessary, via war or the deployment of naval and air assets.

The ban will come into next week and will make it a criminal offense to invest into Kalistan. The punishment has not yet been disclosed.

Royal Navy Deploys Naval Vessels to Ananto Straits

The Hulstrian Royal Navy has recently deployed several naval vessels to the Ananto Straits, in response to reports of a scuffle between Lourennais and Kalistani ships, according to the Ministry of Defense. The Ministry of Defense also announced that it has begun moving aircraft to an undisclosed Lourennais base, for “defensive purposes”.

The vessels have already set sail to Ananto Strait and will arrive before the end of the month. Afterwards, they will rendezvous with the Lourennais and Dorvik vessels already deployed to the straits.

The expeditionary force will be commanded by Admiral Paul Steinbache, and will, according to the Ministry of Defense, collaborate and coordinate with Lourennais and Dorvik vessels in the strait.

According to the Minister of Defense, Augustin Gutenberg:

Kalistani aggression has once again led the world towards war. This is not a response of war but a response of peace. We do not wish for war, but if the Kalistani side wishes for it, we will happily oblige them.

Alongside our own vessels, we will be coordinating our strategy with both Lourenne and Dorvik naval assets in the region. We see this as a possible way to stave off aggression from pirates, who we will destroy if they attack our vessels

The vessels that compose the expeditionary force that is being deployed to the Ananto Strait, include 1 Electronic Surveillance Craft, 1 ASW frigate, 2 corvettes, 2 General purpose frigates, and 2 minesweepers.
