Lonmouth: Labour is to remain in the government. That is the conclusion of a emergency conference of Labour members. The conference, called by leadership in the wake of the sacking of Aaryan Chambers as Home Secretary, was to vote on a proposal by leadership to continue in government. Leadership, with Chambers as its spearhead, argued that Labour should continue to hold responsibility and keep the "ship afloat". While members were skeptic, angry at the sacking of their leader from the State Council, a overwhelming 79% of present members voted for the motion, allowing Labour to remain in government. This announcement has led to a further increase for Labour in the polls. While before th sacking of Chambers Labour had been doing well the aftermath of his sacking and now the decision to remain in government has dramatically increased the possibility of a outright Labour majority. In the most recent polls, Chambers his party would win 162 seats and 54% of the vote, while winning nearly 60 seats in the senate. Such a result would be a political earthquacke, with labour previously in dangerous waters as their election performances continued to decline.

The Democratic Party of Prime Minister Ellis is performing horribly, sitting at just 12 seats in the House and 4 seats in the senate in the latest polls, underlining the immense disdain most New Englians seem to have for a party and Prime Minister that were previously seen as a "fresh wind". With just one year till the general election, many see a absolute Labour victory as inevitable.

Following the decision by Labour to remain in government Prime Minister Ellis appointed Myles Perry as the new Home Secretary. As per convention, the new secretary has to be from the same party as the previous one, with Perry being a relatively new Labour politician.

Kensington: Called the "ostrich" at home for refusing to face political reality, Prime Minister Ellis has been on several foreign trips in the last few months. A recent visit to Deltaria already brought New Englia more trade volume and a stronger relation with one of the most influential countries in Majatra. Now the Prime Minister returned from a state visit to Lodamun, the country sharing a official title with New Englia (that of a commonwealth). The visit was meant to, similar to that to Cachtice, strengthen diplomatic relations. More importantly however Prime Minister Ellis was on a mission to secure resources. Lodamun is known for its steel and aluminium production, with New Englia seeking such resources in a potential effort to bolster its construction sector and launch its own domestic shipbuilding industry.

Prime Minister Ellis brought with him top economic advisor to the State Council Killian MacElwee, who accompanied the Prime Minister alongside around 100 other officials. The visit saw the PM be welcomed by Lodamese foreign minister William Spencer after which a motorcade transported the entourage to the government quarter. Alongside two days of attending festivities, visiting the local opera and talking with bussinessowners in downtown Kensington, the PM, his staff and Lodamese counterparts also occasionally broke off into negotiations on further economic cooperation.

The end result is named the "New Englia-Lodamun Agreement on Trade" or NELAT which outlines several important areas of cooperation. New Englia is for example, similar to its deal with Deltaria, to provide Bauxite to Lodamun at a discounted price. This further boosts the Bauxite mining sector and allows Lodamun to gain a vital resource. New Englia on its turn will be able to buy steel and aluminium for a discounted price, securing the resources it needs to boost the afformentioned industries. Besides these hard clausus on trade the agreement also outlines the friendship between the two nations and the "committment towards open dialogue between our two sovereign states".

While the visit is seen as a succes on the front of foreign affairs, it has done little to distract the public from the political situation at home. With elections closing fast, Prime Minister Ellis is almost guarenteed to become a one term PM if polls are to be believed, and despite his foreign affairs succeses his succes on the domestic front has dwindled, as Labour politicians have halted their reforms and reforms that were partially implemented have stagnated largely due to the sacking of Chambers as Home Secretary, worsening a already bleak situation for the Democrats.

Lonmouth: After three decades of decline the Labour Party is back, winning a absolute majority of both votes and seats in both House and Senate. The party of former Home Secretary Aaryan Chambers won 170 seats in the 300 seat House of Commons and another 65 seats in the 100 seat Senate, securing absolute majorities in both chambers and subsequently allowing a majority government to form. Labour leader Chambers is set to become the next Prime Minister of the commonwealth, taking over from one term incumbent Zach Ellis who, with his democratic party, was annihalated in the election which saw his party become the second smallest in the country. Chambers, who has already been invited by Lord Protector Burton for his appointment as PM, will be able to form a Labour only government.

Labour ran a campaign of optimism, convincing the electorate of "New Englian Prominence" and promising a pragmatic approach to most issues. On the economy, the new government is likely to move to the side of partial interventionism and more regulation in an effort to steer the economy in both a fair environment and a growth trajectory. Largely due to the influence of Defense secretary Theodore O'Murry within Labour the navy is also to gain priority with more investments in defense planned. All in all, it was however the total failure of the democrats that largely elevated Labour, with many Labour politicians put in direct contrast with their democratic counterparts over the course of this term, often with the democrats seen as more incompetent.

Prime Minister Ellis congratulated Labour with their victory, vouching to "do my best to ensure a smooth transition of power." His position within the Democratic Party is also coming into question, with conservative members within the party calling for his resignation as party leader.

Lonmouth: Secretary of State for Transportation and Infrastructure Nicholas Wood has announced the nationalization of the New Englian Railways in an effort to regain control over the railway infrastructure in the country. The decision is a reverse of the liberalization reforms of the LibCon governments which had been kept in place by the coalition government last term. Under that system, the railways were divided into regions with auctions granting operating contracts to private parties. The New Englian Railways still existed, but had to compete with other private entities over rail acces. The system had caused lower costs but extremely low service, with commuters often complaining on how the railways got worse by the year. Under the nationalization plan the region system is abolished and New Englian Railways is to be granted full access to all railway lines for the next 10 years, after which the government will evaluate whether to create a open bidding process or grant the NER full access again.

The 48% of the NER that is currently privately owned will be bought by the government and the railways are afterwards gonna be taken of the stock market to ensure full nationalization. Secretary Wood also announced that his ministry will appoint a complete new board of directors to lead the NER and a new chief executive to chair the board. This new board, once nationalization is complete, will be given half a year to come up with a plan to reform and improve railway service in the country, after which such a plan should be implemented.

Our biggest priority is reastablishing a reliable railway service that is both cost effective and capable of getting you from a to b. By bringing the state back into the mix we can better guide policy on our railways and ensure that service is on the levels we set them to be, not on the levels the free market deems fair.

While the railways itself are to be nationalized, there will continue to be a small role for private bussiness in that maintenance of the tracks and production of new trains is to be left to the private market, with two companies to be approved to maintain the tracks and strictly monitored by the ministry to ensure adequate performance. While the government mainly focusses on the benefit for commuters, experts also underline the importance of nationalization for state control on the nations infrastructure, which could be a important factor in times of crisis where the government has to act quickly. The total plan is to cost around 12 billion pounds with the bill on the floor of the house right now.

Lonmouth: The Liberal Conservatives and the Democratic Party are to merge into the new "People's Party for Freedom and Democracy" officialy, but un-officially titled the "People's Party" on electoral ballots. The new party, to adhere to both classical liberalism and liberal conservatism, will sit on the center-right of the political spectrum and become a direct challenge to the Labour Party. The decision, largely a result of the marginalization of the democrats and the desire for the LibCons to grow, is set to solidify the New Englian political landscape into one with two dominant parties. While it is unclear how permanent the electoral succes of the Labour Party will be, it was clear to the two oppossition parties that without a risky political move Labour could very well be impossible to defeat in the future electoral landscape.

This leaves just four political parties in the House of Commons. The Labour Party, The People's Party, the Kilani League and the Progressive Greens. The new party also simultaniously elected a new leader in former LibCon prominent Tate James who is considered a principled conservative. With the merger will come new challenges however, as the Democrats were formed as a split from Labour a decade ago and thus naturally also had a significant portion of members to the left. This reality makes it so that the new PPFD will consist of several ideological wings, a reality that could both work well for the party or backfire.

In historic first, parliament emerges without clear majority in unusually turbulent election
     Lonmouth
     21st August 5461

After an unusually turbulent election season, the New Englian parliament finds itself without a clear majority, as the historic parties have drawn a clear line on cooperation. After the collapse of the People's Party after a slate of poor electoral performance in local elections, a lack of a clear center-right created a power vacuum in the political arena, one which many have sought to fill, both at the local and national level. Most recently, these have coalesced into two options, both formed with similar aims at taking up the mantle of cracking the Labor Party's recent electoral dominance. They are the Commonwealth National Party (CNP), and the Renewal Party (RP). The former is a more centrist, liberal party, finding a voice among the Inglian electorate whilst the latter is a traditionally Hosian (specifically the Aurorian Patriarchal Church), more right-leaning socially conservative party, which has built up a strong electoral base in the Kilani-speaking south.

Numerous other political parties have since formed, charting out positions on both sides of the political spectrum, but remain largely niche in their share of the electorate. Rifts within the Kilani League over a host of issues have led to a split, and ultimately the dissolution of the party, with the torch now being carried by the fringe Kilani Tradition Party (Páirtí Traidisiún Choiarnach), which has espoused hard conservative views, placing them on the far-right, though their leader, Colin Moynihan (stylized as Cailean Maigh Eanaigh) denies this, asserting that the party is an autonomist organization and nonpartisan.

Prime Minister Brian Foxhall, hailing from the CNP, has stated that he has discussed the results of the recent election with the Lord Protector, currently held by Sir James Cockrell, 3rd Baron Moorshead, in tackling the issue. The discussions were not publicized to the press, but indications seemingly signal that a snap election is on the table, unless last-minute negotiations yield a working government; such a result is seemingly still not likely, as the Renewal Party's leader Patrick Mulligan has claimed that the CNP's parliamentary whip, Ian Graves, has held discriminatory views towards the Kilani people, stating that "these are not the only observations I have witnessed in my time in parliament; in fact I believe these positions are held by higher-ups within the party itself". Mr. Mulligan has called for the resignation of the parliamentary whip, and has effectively held negotiations in forming a coalition government hostage. The CNP's own leader, Lord Waymore (Harold Waymore), was seen on the floor of parliament this week engaging in discussions with sitting MPs, and the CNP's parliamentary whip himself for a considerable amount of time.

While there is likely to be some sort of out for the recent crisis the government finds itself in, the gridlock in parliament has given fuel to the previously-mentioned niche parties in the legislature. Mr. Moynihan spoke during a morning news radio show that the affair was "all a show", and that the "elites" were "fighting amongst themselves to choose their kingmakers". He outright called the leader of the RP, Patrick Mulligan, a "disgrace of a member of the Kilani people" and a "collaborator of the landed Inglian political gentry". Mr. Mulligan later condemned these statements on social media, and urged the presiding officer of parliament to bar Mr. Moynihan from sitting in the chamber for the next two weeks over inflammatory statements, stating that such views could lead to threats being leveled against his family, and made a counter-threat of suing the KTP's leader for defamation.

Government crisis eases as CNP leader sacks parliamentary whip; working coalition formed
     3rd October 5461 (Postdated)

While it was predicted that the gridlock would continue, a light at the end of the tunnel has seemingly been reached as the CNP's leader Lord Waymore has sacked his parliamentary whip Ian Graves in a large win for the Kilani-aligned Renewal Party under Patrick Mulligan. In short remarks, Mr. Mulligan thanked the CNP's leader and "looked forward" to cooperating in a coalition government with his Inglian opposite and premier Foxhall. On the opposite side, the reaction from opposition, specifically the Labour Party, was one of criticism; Leader of the Opposition Lionel Holden stated that the entire dispute was "childish" and delayed the smooth functioning of government and left the issuing of basic social services in limbo. Such comments were echoed by other minor parties in the opposition, such as the single-issue Pensioners' Party, and the Kilani Tradition Party, whose leader Colin Moynihan ruled outright that the party would abstain from the sitting of parliament, with the party's few deputies seen walking out during the day's session.

The comments from the Labour Party's leader received a mixed reception within his own party and among some voters, notably Kilanis. "The RP leader was right to call for the sacking of Graves, his comments were incredibly disrespectful", one Kilani voter mentioned in a candid interview. "The stability in our government comes with complacency; it was inevitable that we would hear such bigotry at some point - good on them for solving it decisively", read one comment on social media.

Despite reaching a solution to the issue, and even giving new power to the Kilani side of the nation through the traditional establishment, the debacle has led to a small but noticeable spike in support for the Kilani Tradition Party. This rise was attributed as a result of a "social media blitz" during the government crisis, with KTP leader Moynihan being featured radio interviews, podcasts, and attracting attention through a host of posts on their website and others throughout discussions. "Our autonomy is under attack - even by our own kin!", one article on the KTP's website spoke. The attention has led to an enlarging of the party's bureaucracy, with various pro-KTP associations being formed (such as a newspaper), and even a paramilitary organization, the Kilani Guard. The establishment of the latter led to concerns among some, but analysts pointed to the party's fringe nature as essentially a protest organization as cause for few concerns.

Kilani Tradition Party sees win in provincial elections within South Englia after forming Aontas Náisiúnta coalition
     Middlebar, South Englia
     12th March 5467

Provincial elections have concluded within the region of South Englia, the primary autonomous region within the country. Facing a pitched battle was First Minister Cathal Uí Bhriain (Charles O'Brien), who in recent months weathered an aggressive campaign on behalf of the provincial Dáil's right-wing opposition, the chief among them being the Kilani Tradition Party. The KTP after reorganizing itself at the national level chose to organize at the local level in its home province, setting up a political machine that has seemingly worked in achieving its goals. After gathering together a smattering of similar-minded local parties into a single coalition named Aontas Náisiúnta (National Union), the chief party among the group campaigned on a platform of populism, anti-establishment rhetoric, and a vigorous smear campaign against the First Minister, which was criticized by moderate parties within the Dáil, including the Kilani branch of the Labour Party.

After the elections had concluded, the result was a plurality of votes going to the AN coalition, and a victory for the group's independent candidate for First Minister, the conservative regionalist Liam Síle (Liam Shelley); a prominent Kilani writer, historian, and former two-term TD. Ascending into power as the chief head of government of the nation's heaviest Kilani-speaking province, he spoke a more moderate line, seemingly in a bid to court the average Kilani voter, and to espouse a more parliamentarian line; the KTP itself has been noted to have various radical abstentionist wings within the organization, resolutely refusing to participate in electoral politics and instead advocate for a "direct struggle" against what it calls the "never-ending suffocation of Inglian and Luthorian imperialism" on the nation. Such opinions are also held by the KTP's leader himself, Colin Moynihan, whose deputies within the national parliament walked out after a solution to the recent gridlock was found after the CNP sacked its parliamentary whip.

The recent victory has been received with jubilation within the Aontas Náisiúnta coalition and the KTP specifically, with internal discussions about its anti-electoralist streak being called into debate. The party has built up a significant bureaucracy around itself, establishing a slew of organizations aligned to its goals alongside its well-known paramilitary force, the Kilani Guard, whose members sport distinctive dark-green uniforms and berets in the shade of the national flag. Currently, the party is discussing amongst itself about which strategy to take for the national level, given the significant victory it has just scored, placing the previously-untouchable Renewal Party in the spot of opposition, begrudgingly sharing a space with its historic rival, the Labour Party.

Chief among the agenda of the AN coalition and the First Minister is a series of "restorative" policies aimed at preserving the Kilani regionalist identity, which the group claims has been "forcefully Inglicized" over the past decades and to promote traditional Hosian teachings within the political establishment, espousing a policy of integralism, inspired by similar historic movements in Egelion and at various points in Tukarali. The first act supported by the First Minister himself was the KTP's introduction of a language preservation bill within the provincial Dáil, which has drawn criticism from parties within both it and the national legislature for its "draconian" articles; the most significant being the forbidding of the Luthorian language being taught in schools, the promotion and elevation of the Kilani language in education and governance, and the adoption of bilingual names at the national level and the establishment of strictly Kilani names at the regional level.

This latter article has been strongly criticized by deputies within the national parliament and the Premier himself, calling it a "waste of the government's time" and argued that it would "cause undesired bureaucratic issues" on matters such as drivers licenses, marriage and death certificates, and even hamper efforts at basic duties such as law enforcement and healthcare. First Minister O'Brien has voiced his support of most articles, but was neutral on this issue; he advised members of the AN within the Dáil to "seek out an equitable solution that respects our autonomy while putting the concerns of governance first".
