Chinasa: The Dovanian Labor Party has won the first election under ammended rules which saw a return of FPTP constituencies. The election, which would determine the composition of the Chamber of Deputies, resulted in Labor capturing 180 seats, ensuring a 10 seat majority for the party. Their leader Orjee Amazu is now the designated Prime Minister (officially Chairman of the Federal Cabinet). The rules changed nothing except for the electoral system on the federal level, with the federal structure of the state remaining the same. The runner up to Labor was the conservative oriented Liberal Party, capturing 148 seats. The Liberal Party has already conceded defeat but stated that it will fight as a "spirited oppossition" in the coming 5 years and combat the plans of the Labor party. The only minor party managing to garner seats was the Greens, capturing 11 seats predominently in Jinppo as their leader, Chang Sochun, was a former city councillor and rather popular in Jinppo suburbs. The party in general won 13% of the vote. This result ensures that Amazu will become Prime Minister, with President Funanya Yobanna having indicated her intention to appoint him next week. He will then form a majority Labor cabinet, with the Labor plans to revitalize the economy, strengthen democratic institutions and further develop national industry likely to be implemented in the coming 5 year term.

The change back to FPTP was made after decades of stagnation and constant political instability caused by a set of unstable coalition governments. A majority of the population demanded a electoral system that would create more descisive and stable governments, with voters voting 73% in favor of returning to FPTP.

Chinasa: Umar Idris has been appointed Governor of the Central Bank by Prime Minister Amazu. The appointment of Idris shows the direction Amazu seeks to take, as Idris is known in the finance sector for his technocratic approach. With the appointment of Idris the country also gets its first Hause in a influential position within federal institutions in decades. Idris is thus known as a technocrat and is expected to lead the central bank into pragmatic and pro-active policies to encourage economic growth but keep inflation contained. Prime Minister Amazu has with his cabinet and institutional appointments shown that he is on course to govern as a moderate, likely seeking to implement small social reforms to satisfy the left within his party while at the same time keeping a moderate approach on the economy to encourage growth and stability. Amazu appointed Chizoba Ijeawele as Minister of the Treasury earlier this month, with Ijeawele a fierce proponent of mixed-market economics. A primary concern for the government is the revitalization of the energy sector, with a likely major restructuring of the sector on the horizon to secure future North Dovanian energy exports. Another big focus will be industrialization, with North Dovani consistently lacking behind on industrialization due to its history as a "fossil" economy keeping it from diversifying its economy into other areas of industry and service sectors.

With the appointment of Idris the PM hopes to achieve these goals and ambitions, as Idris is expected to play a vital role in keeping the Dovanian Kaira stable and further stabilizing the other parts of the finance sector.

Jinppo: The Jinppo Regional Government has tabled a legislative reform package that would invest in and restructure its finance industry, putting a heavy focus on expanding the share of this sector within the Jinppo economy. Governor Sonu Yong-Chol noted that the initiative is meant to diversify the Jinppo economy, stepping away from the domination of the shipbuilding industry that has been prevelant in the region/city and venturing into new sectors. The city was build on commercial shipbuilding, which resulted in a massive population boom in the last few centuries due to the increased living conditions and wealth that the industry brought the city. In the last few years however the regional government has struggled to keep a faltering regional economy affloat, as shipbuilding declined and jobs left the city and wider region. The regional unemployment rate now sits at 26%, the highest of any region. With this new initiative, which will pump billions in subsidies, relax finance rules and create a more lucrative taxation scheme for financial bussinesses, the government hopes to attract multinationals and new financial bussinesses alike. Besides finance, the government also seeks to reiginite its manufacturing industry, with the old industrial sector in Jinppo city to be rearranged and given a "face lift" to make it more attractive to settle there. Overall the government of the Jinppo region is set to reinvigorate the regional economy by any means necessary, hopefully strengthening its economy and helping the people of Jinppo out of unemployment.

Cheobaek: Governor Chuwon of the Region of Kaechon has been accused of corruption and nepotism by a recent report from a local newspaper, which had been investigating the alledged misconduct of the governor for over a year. According to the article the Governor had placed family members, including his wife, in high paying positions surrounding his administration. He had also pressured departments within his government to grant lucrative contracts to family bussinesses. The corruption allegations stem from evidence that Chuwon has embezzled at least 20 million in regional funds and transfered those funds to foreign bank accounts owned by the governor. He also alledgedly paid off election officials at voting places to get rid of ballots with his opponent on them as well as using his ownership of a TV station to spread rumors about his opponents. He also alledgedly stripped the right to vote for some demographics that are more prone to supporting his opponents, paying election officials to do so as well.

Governor Chuwon has denied the allegations, saying that he will start a legal case against the newspaper for defamation and calling the oppossition "traitors" for believing the allegations. His Liberal Party has stayed silent, deciding to stay by his side for now. With a clear majority for the Liberals in the Kaechon Legislative Chamber it is likely that the calls from the oppossition to remove him from his post will not be fullfilled.

Chinasa: The Northern Aerospace Company has given out a statement in which it describes the succesfull testing of its new "Macheonlu-1" tactical ballistic missile. The missile is derived from Trigunian scud missiles. The NAC had been working for nearly 6 years on developing a North Dovanian variant that had more range and a bigger payload then the Trigunian scud missiles. The new Macheonlu-1 was succesfully tested last week, resulting in the NAC gaining the all-clear from the Ministry of Defense to start mass production on the missile. The missiles will be primarily used on mobile-launchers, with new mobile launchers being produced by the state owned Chinasa Engineering Corporation. The newly developed missile is the first domestically designed missile in North Dovani, with the majority of missiles purchased from Trigunia so far. The military industry in North Dovani is still in its early fases, with nearly all equipment still purchased abroad. The Amazu government has made it a goal to start developing domestic production capabilities and also, where possible, venture into design of military equipment to make North Dovani less reliable on imports. He however has underlined in recent months that expecting North Dovani to create a fully fledged military industry in every field, ground, air and naval, is a "unrealistic dream" and that efforts should be focussed on the achievable, "not the impossible."

The Macheonlu-1 is expected to be produced in high numbers, with a initial 100 now ordered by the Ground Forces.

Chinasa: The Chinasa Engineering Company will open a new tank production plant in the city of Bakinteku which will produce a local version of the Trigunian T-80 tank. The localized version of the tank was designed by CEC engineers and features a more robust active protection system and a improved turret compared to the original. Currently the Ground Forces have 250 active T-62 tanks at its disposal, with the new tank plant to produce the new T-80 and slowly replace the existing T-62's. The Ground Forces will keep 100 T-62's in reserve once the T-80 has officially replaced it from active service. Prime Minister Amazu praised the CEC for their committment and has pledged additional subsidies to the state owned defense company in an effort to improve its operations. The CEC currently produces ground equipment for the Armed Forces, with mobile missile launchers, transport vehicles and IFV's being its primary production so far. With the opening of the new plant next year the T-80 will be added to that list, further strengthening North Dovani its domestic military production capacity. The Ground Forces have reportedly ordered nearly 300 T-80 tanks, to be delivered over the course of the next 10 years by the CEC.

Jinppo: At the port of Jinppo the North Dovanian Territorial Guard has intercepted a large shipment of cocaine, amounting to 23 tons, as it was about to depart the port. The Territorial Guard subsequently arrested several individuals suspected of aiding in hiding the shipment and employees of the shipping company which were reportedly about to transport it. The find was done during a random search, a new policy of the Territorial Guard in which they search sections of the border, ports or airports at random without announcement in order to have a better chance at catching shipments. Drug trafficking and addiction has been a major problem in North Dovani. The trafficking is fueled by continious corruption in both law enforcement and the bureaucracy, which further stimulates regular working people from also cooperating with the trafficking. Despite the good efforts of many indivuals in law enforcement and government the problem recently got so bad that the Jinppo port was closed completely in order to search all freight that was present there. The shutdown had been announced however, allowing criminals to get their product out of the port. This catch is one of the first big ones and is seen as a victory by the Amazu government, which has been desperately trying to increase pressure on the drug industry. A recent report by the Ministry of Health and Social Services suggested that at least 10% of the population is "addicted" to a form of drugs, one of the highest numbers in Dovani. With increased living standards and a growing economy it is expected that if the drug epidemic is not under control by the end of the decade that more people will end into trouble as their means of aquiring drugs become easier.

Prime Minister Amazu has promised to step up the campaign against drug use and trafficking. The individuals now arrested for the 23 ton catch in Jinppo will be federally prosecuted while a investigation into the catch is underway to try and reveal the supply chain of this specific network.

Chinasa: In an effort to remain competitive for years to come Prime Minister Amazu and subsequent Labor Party leader has announced that his party will merge with 10 minor parties primarily active on the local level to form a "broad left-leaning coalition". The new party will be simply named the Social Democrats or SocDems. With the merger of 11 parties into one the party becomes a diverse party with a diverse electorate. Several progressive parties will also join the new party, ensuring that it wont only be Social Democrats taking the reigns. The move fits into the wider strategy of the Prime Minister, who has been searching for a way to expand his voter base and ensure his party can retain its position as the largest. This new party also gains 1 million new members as the members of the minor parties join the existing members of Labor. With this change, Amazu hopes to win the election in 5371 once more, securing his second term. Furthermore he has promised a series of party ammendments to make the party more democratic, hopefully introducing leadership elections and a consultation process for new legislation. One thing is for sure, the Liberal Party has to also make a move to broaden its base as the SocDems now have the upper hand electorally.
